the thing that least makes jonathan a relatable character for me is that he went to romania without any expectations of fuckery. like kudos to you for the life you've lived my man but you and i have lived very different lives

#like yeah he's an 1800s cis english lawyer #and i'm 21st century trans american idiot #but i can relate to him on every level but not being pre-frightened of romania #nothing against any individual romanians #but my grandma was from there and uh. well #i can't remember the name of where she used to live #but pretty much right after her family left the jews in that area were wiped out #so. yeah
