hi vicky!!! i am here to ask many questions for the fic writer game: 19, 23, 30, 31, 38 and 43. im sorry if these are a lot but i always love to hear about your writing 😌💙
hahahah thank you 🥺!!! They're not a lot, they might just take a bit of time for me to get through all of them hahaha. Let's go!
19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just hit post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)?
I painstakingly edit them because English is not my first language and I'm obsessed with trying to have as little mistakes as I can. In fact, once I hit post, I reread it and keep correcting stuff all the time😅 I still correct stuff from All The Hues Of Blue if I catch it tbh 😅😅
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
I answered this in a previous ask, I'm going to copy my rambles:
I don’t think I’ve ever written a trope per se? Angst for sure, but I don’t know if that’s a trope or a genre? I guess I could count AU - No band hahahah all my fics are AU - No band . I’d love to try something like Fake Dating but I don’t know what I could bring to the table if I’m honest :/
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.
"Okay, you haven't looked up from Ashton since at least half an hour ago." Mali laughed softly, prompting him to finally tear his eyes away from Ashton's face. "Should I stop the film?" Mali-Koa asked, frowning just the tiniest bit.
"No." Calum shook his head, "I promise I'm watching."
Mali-Koa just arched an eyebrow at him, not needing any words. Calum felt his cheeks growing red under her scrutiny, but he wasn't sure if it was due to her comment about him not being able to tear his gaze away from Ashton, or about his own guilt on knowing exactly why he wasn't paying attention to the movie.
"No. You're not." Mali-Koa said softly. She didn't pause the film, though. It was a sad scene, what came now. Joni Mitchell's voice filling up the silence between them. It was even weirder juxtaposed to Mali's next words, "So, when are we going ring shopping?"
Calum let out a surprised giggle, his eyes once again trained on Ashton's features as he combed a few stray curls away from his face. "Actually…"
Mali-Koa let out a gasp. "You didn't buy it. Not without me."
"No, I didn't buy it." Calum laughed, easy, looking back up to her. "Where would I have even gotten the money for it?" Mali-Koa just rolled her eyes at him. Calum laughed again, slowly letting it dissolve into a smile, remembering his conversation with Ashton just a day ago. "We kind of decided we would both go ring shopping. Together."
"Wait, does that mean…?" Mali's eyes were wide, her hand flying to her mouth.
31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
Has to be Calum in my All The Hues series, I relate to him in a way that must be unhealthy and I project onto him a lot too hahaha (sorry 😅). I adore writing Otto (my beloved) as well, and that one I do have to admit I want to write more of thanks to you Maya hhahaha
38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?
Depends on the day. I do have a pretty strict planning for every fic (three act plot point, subplots, character arcs, everything is set to stone -more or less-) and I do always start writing dialogue, then fill in between with action and thoughts and inner monologue. I come from script-writing so that's easiest way for me. But I do have to admit that some of my favourite scenes I've ever written came together in a totally chaotic, stream-of-conscious and breaking all my plans way hahahah. In fact, I don't know if I've talked to you about this Maya, but Chapter 9 of Rare As Gold wasn't planned. It just came to be after a horrible writer's block and me deciding to sit down and just write whatever I thought felt right.
43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
Again, answered this one in a prev ask (sorry for copy pasting 😅), here it's what I wrote:
I’ve met (lifelong) friends through reading/writing fics, I think that’s the most positive experience I can ever take away from it 💙. Sorry if this is a bit short, I’m horrible at talking feelings and feelings related stuff IRL 😅
I'll add too: the absolute joy of receiving your first ask gushing about ATHOB and the way it made me cry and smile like a lunatic for literally two hours hahahah
