current neighbourhood crisis: someone on nextdoor has a stray kitty in their backyard, and it's been in their backyard sitting on the porch and wandering around since the TWELFTH OF SEPTEMBER, but none of the stray pickup services near us will come get the kitty unless it's already in a carrier. they've been trying many strategies to con this kitty into a carrier. they cannot con this kitty into a carrier
enter my mom, who is a lifelong hater of cats (terrified, so terrified of the tiny guys) and who was only awakened to the concept of Animal Is Small Friend Actually via owning a dog herself, and who cannot stop thinking about this cat. is asking for near-daily updates on the status of this cat on nextdoor. is seriously considering driving to this person's house so that i (voluntold into this process) can catch the cat
like 1) i'm glad she's come around on Animal Is Small Friend and 2) i'm glad she has such faith in my ability to make animal friends but 3) i do not know how to catch a cat. she does not know how to catch a cat. she does not know this person in real life. she has not asked this person if we CAN go catch this cat, but it's all she can think about, this cat is occupying 34% of her brainspace,

Summer 2019 Shows First Impressions
My first impressions for kids shows that premiered throughout summer 2019. Nickelodeon 44 Cats: Italian show, but based from what I seen, it's a cute filler show when nothing's good on. With the first few episodes, I thought it would get repetitive with the rival cats, but thankfully that doesn't happen every single  episode. The theme song screams preschool, but it grows on you. The cats eating spaghetti is weird, but it's good timing now that Nick finally acquired  the rights to Garfield. The English dub is even more interesting: it's recorded at New York and if you still watch the Pokemon dub, some familiar like Sarah Natochenny, Suzy Myers, Erica Schroeder, are involved. 7/10 All That: I'm almost caught up with the 2019 revival of it, and it's decent so far. It wasn't a surprise that Nick would brought it back due to Brian Robbins being the creator and is now running the network. Once Henry Danger ends for good, this will be Nick's main live-action show. Who knows if they'll start giving the actors their own shows, just like they did in the original run? My favorite actors so far are all the girls, while Lex Lumpkin is probably my favorite male cast member. Nathan Janak and Chinguun Sergelen should need major improvements in their acting while Ryan Alessi is okay. The Good Burger and Loud Librarian sketches return for this revival and they are just as funny. Unless you're into randomness, I recommend this and you don't have to watch the original series to prepare for it. I do wish NickRewind would air it again. 7/10 LEGO City Adventures: One of the acquired show, and it's as random and episodic as you get. Definitely worth a shot for kids viewers. I like how it focuses on different characters instead of focusing on the same ones. My favorite episode so far is the Sky Police/Father's Day Parade segment for its wholesome story, especially the latter. On another note, I love the shading to the animation. The theme song is quite memorable as well, especially the extended credits theme. Definitely a show worth your time if there's nothing good on. Not sure why Nick suddenly stopped airing new episodes for awhile in favor of LEGO Jurassic World. 8/10 Disney Channel Amphibia: To tell you the truth, when I first about this show, I was anticipating for it. I liked the idea of a human girl entering a world of amphibians. But what's the end result, you ask? An utter disappointment. I mean, I still stand what I said when I saw the first happened, but this show ended up being a borefest. Even as it progresses, I still don't see any improvement. What doesn't help that it's hinting a possible recurring story, and you know what that means. Yep, another cartoon that needs to be story driven in order to be mature. Just great. There's a few good things about it, but my memory is rusty. 5/10 Just Roll With It: Disney Channel's latest live-action program. What surprises me is that it's rated TV-Y7 (a few other live-action programs has that rating higher than G). Also, it's even produced by It's a Laugh Productions, but rather it's done by a different studio. It's still mult-camera, but it is filmed in front of a live studio audience rather than using laugh track. And this show suffered a case of "bad first impression." The first couple episodes were horrible, but I've watched a few more and it isn't bad. Maybe because the plots were less cringeworthy. It just got renewed, so maybe this is okay if you want to pass the time. 5.5/10 Cartoon Network Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart: CN's only new show during this summer. And it happens to be one of my favorite new cartoon of 2019. As a cat lover, I'm biased and also consider this the best show I reviewed here, because the main character is a black cat with a sword, fighting bad guys. And yes, before people answer, Mao Mao does resemble Mr, Blik from Catscratch. I like his chemistry with his roommates, especially Badgerclops. Their relationship is more aggressive than Grizz and Panda from We Bare Bears. Acrobat is basically her name, but while I find her funny at times, she's too hyperactive and loud. The pacing is one of my biggest issues with the show. It can be too fast at times. CN is on a roll with original ideas and if you want to be a real funny superhero cartoon, please watch Mao Mao. 9/10

Meeting the Sergeant
Summary: Bucky goes to the museum to search for answers to some questions that have been haunting him and he finds some unexpected help along the way.
Word Count: 2.3k
Content: Angst, PTSD, fluff. Let me know if I need to add anything.
A/N: This is the third story that came from what was supposed to be a simple, short and sweet meet-cute type of thing. This can be read before or after reading both Meeting the Team and Meeting the Agent. Let me know what you think! I may make more from it...
    ~
Bucky felt a bit of unease growing in his chest as he approached the museum. He knew it was a bad idea to be here. He shouldn’t be going anywhere near the museum or any public place for that matter; he may have been proven innocent of the attack at the accords, but as far as the media was concerned, he was still a criminal. Everyone would be looking for him, especially after Steve gets back. Every fiber of his being, all of his training, was screaming at him to run, to get out of D.C. as fast as possible and to never look back, but he couldn’t do it. This museum may be his only chance to get some answers-- he had to at least try.
He constantly had dreams and nightmares about what he had done as the Winter Soldier and about who he had been before that. He had dreams of his life before the war, dreams of things he couldn’t remember. His dreams of after the war were even worse. He always saw names and faces of people he didn’t remember meeting, in places he never recalled being. In most cases, the only thing he was certain of was that the person in question was dead and that he had killed them. The worst part though was that he didn’t remember enough of his life during and right after the war, or of his life as the Winter Soldier, to be able to tell what was real and what was an invention of his fear and guilty conscience. His most recent dreams had involved the Howling Commandos and Steve. He knew it was too risky, that he could be recognized but-- he had to know. So he went to the museum with a dark zip-up hoodie and a grey baseball cap. He was a little on edge and nervous as he walked up the steps and made his way through the crowd outside the entrance. He didn’t realize the crowd was waiting to get through security until he noticed the security guards.
His eyes widened and his heart began to race as his eyes fell on some guards by the entrance, checking visitors as they came in. His breathing increased and he began to sweat as one guard with close-cropped grey hair looked in his direction and frowned. He quickly turned to leave but before he could, another guard he hadn’t noticed following him caught his arm. Bucky immediately tensed up, his reflexes ready to kick in--
“Easy,” the guard muttered. “It’s ok, Sergeant. I’ve got your back.” Bucky’s eyes widened incredulously at the guard. He quickly clamped his mouth shut as they turned back toward the museum. The guard escorting Bucky looked over at the guard who had been eyeing him and gave a brief nod. The other guard’s eyes narrowed but he nodded in return before turning back to the waiting visitors. A cold sweat broke out on Buckys’ forehead and he swallowed hard. He couldn’t do anything; there were too many people around that could get hurt.
“C’mon,” the guard spoke, leading Bucky toward the exit doors. He pulled a key card on his belt and held it up to a panel next to the door. The guard waited until he heard a click and pulled the door open. They walked through the doors and, before he could break away, the guard quickly led Bucky to an empty office to the right of the doors. He closed the door behind him and turned to Bucky, indicating a chair. Bucky ignored the gesture and silently cursed to himself. How could he have allowed himself to be caught like that?
“What are you doing here?” the guard turned to Bucky, questioning him.
Instinctively Bucky remained silent. He’d been interrogated many times before; he knew how this would go.
The guard sighed. “I’m not looking to cause you any trouble, all right? I just want to know, why are you here?”
Bucky looked up at the guard with a stubborn, narrowed gaze. “Wanted to see that museum,” he finally answered, his tone defensive with just a hint of sarcasm. “I thought that’s what it’s here for.”
“That’s not what I meant,” the guard sighed again, pinching the bridge of his nose. He rubbed his face before turning back to Bucky. “I mean what are you doing here in D.C.? You should be lying low somewhere.”
Bucky snorted in disbelief. “What would you know about that?”
“More than you would think.” Bucky narrowed his eyes at the guard’s response. The guard’s gaze was steady but not challenging. “58th Pararescue. We did a lot of laying low after our missions in the deserts.”
Bucky eyed the guard warily. The guard sat down before indicating the chair again. Bucky glanced at it quickly then back to the guard before sitting down slowly.
“So, I’m guessing if you’re still here, it must be for something pretty important.” The guard looked at Bucky after rubbing his forehead.
Bucky was silent for a moment. “I wanted to see the museum,’ he repeated.
The guard looked at him, studying his face for a second, and blinked. “You wanted to see your exhibit,” he sighed, leaning back in his chair. Bucky’s gaze narrowed before he lowered his eyes without replying. “Probably the others’ too.” Bucky’s gaze quickly shot back to the guard at his words.
“It’s coming back to you now, isn’t it?” The guard asked Bucky, tilting his head. “Your memory. And I’m guessing it’s not all good.”
“That’s one way to put it,” Bucky replied bitterly after a moment of silence.
“There are people who can help with that. Good people,” the guard straightened. “I have a friend at the VA hospital. He helped me through some stuff when I lost my brother. Maybe once things have settled down for you, you can look him up.” The guard rose from his seat. “In the meantime, how about we get you some answers?”
Bucky looked up and blinked in surprise before slowly rising to join the guard. He followed him out of the office and to the right. They wove in and out of exhibits and around displays. Bucky’s brow furrowed as he saw all the different planes and space shuttle models. He looked up at the planes hanging overhead.
I’ll have to remember to come back here sometime when I’m done running, he thought. Bucky lowered his head, turning his attention back to following the guard, and he froze.
“Here we are,” the guard turned to Bucky and saw him standing there. He looked at his watch. “The exhibit will be pretty empty for about a half hour or so, they’ve got a demonstration for the kids on the east lawn. I’ll be at the exit if you need anything.”
With a nod, the guard departed, but Bucky hardly noticed. He slowly approached a portrait etched in a glass panel. His lips parted in surprise at the face before him- his own face before the war. He almost didn’t believe it was him. He looked so different back then and he hadn’t even remembered what he had looked like. If it hadn’t been for the caption, he would’ve thought it was someone else. He slowly walked through the exhibit, reading through his past. He stopped when he got to a picture of him and his mother and his sisters. He remembered that the girls had driven his ma crazy that day, trying to keep their dresses clean. Of course, right after the picture was taken, they chased a cat through a mud puddle. He chuckled wistfully at the memory. He made his way over to a panel about the Howling Commandos. As he approached it, an audio recording started, with facts about the Commandos and where they had been. He listened for a minute to the narrative as it listed the locations of the different Hydra bases that they had destroyed before tuning it out. He scanned through the first panel on his old unit before moving to the next one. Glancing over it, he realized it had little facts and bits of information about the Howling Commandos. His heart rate quickened in anticipation. His eyes fell on a picture of two kids. ‘Jaqueline and Brian Falsworth’.
Falsworth had two kids! Bucky’s stomach lurched. He felt like he was going to be sick. He quickly scanned the panel. Still not finding what he was looking for, his breathing started to increase and his heart beat rapidly, drowning out everything else. He frantically, desperately searched for any information, anything at all that could help... until his eyes fell on an old black and white video. His lips parted slightly in surprise. The video showed clips of Bucky and Steve during the war, at different camps and interviews. The sight of his best friend calmed him and his senses started to come back. Suddenly, the audio recording caught his attention again. ‘Barnes is the only Howling Commando to give his life in service of his country.’
Bucky shut his eyes tight as a wave of relief washed over him. A single tear slipped out the corner of his eye. He lowered his head and a silent sob escaped, his body trembling. They made it. They made it home! Bucky took several deep breaths before he opened his eyes and wiped away the remaining unshed tears that had begun to form. They all made it! I didn’t--
His thought was interrupted by the sound laughter approaching from the entrance of the exhibit. Bucky took one last look at the video before heading to the exit. When he turned the corner, he saw the guard standing there, leaning back against a wall with a mural of the Howling Commandos.
The guard turned and looked at Bucky with a smile. “You look pretty happy for a guy who just found out he died.” Bucky smirked lightly as he approached. “Although to be fair,” the guard continued, “they are talking about removing the audio from the exhibit.”
No. They have to keep it. Bucky thought. Bucky’s smile faded as the mural behind the guard came into full view. Following his gaze, the guard looked up at the wall behind him and pushed off it before taking a few steps away. Bucky joined him and they turned to look over it together.
After a moment the guard glanced to the side at Bucky. “It’s something, isn’t it? Took them months to complete. They had it finished just in time for the Fourth that year.” Bucky nodded silently, his brow slightly creased. After another moment, the guard turned to face Bucky. “Did you find some answers?” he asked softly.
Bucky turned to the guard, his eyes narrowed. “How did you recognize me? he asked suspiciously. “And don’t say it was from the news because it wasn’t.” He wasn’t sure who had done it, but all of the news stations that were still calling for his head had mysterious data breaches and any footage they had of him had been erased. I’ll have to ask that redhead about it next time I run into her, he thought. He knew he’d run into her again, eventually; he always did. Bucky blinked and turned his attention back to the guard.
“I didn’t at first,” the guard admitted. “But I know PTSD when I see it. When Parks, that other guard, saw you...” the guard lifted his arms to waist height, splaying his fingers. “Instant fight or flight stance. As I got closer though...”
The guard looked up at Bucky with a shrug. “My granddad was in the 86th infantry. They were on their way to the Ruhr to back up the Ninth Army. They had almost made it there when they were ambushed. Granddad and two of his buddies stayed behind while the others retreated, to give them time to get away. By the time someone had realized, they had already made it to the Ruhr and had been engaged.”
The guard reached in his pocket and Bucky stiffened slightly. The guard noticed and paused before looking at Bucky, waiting. They locked eyes for a brief second and Bucky relaxed. The guard slowly pulled out his wallet and took out a picture before handing it to Bucky. The picture was of a soldier in an old uniform that Bucky knew all too well, with a young woman standing next to him holding a baby. “You and the Howling Commandos freed him when you took out that Hydra base in Dortmund.” The guard smiled wryly with a light chuckle. “Granddad told us all about the Howling Commandos every chance he got. He had pictures, newspaper clippings, articles, everything. Enough to start an exhibit,” the guard motioned back the way Bucky had come with a laugh. “A month before he died, Granddad got to meet Dugan again and thank him.”
Bucky quietly handed the photo back to the guard, swallowing a lump that had formed in his throat. “Thank you,” he spoke softly, his eyes a little moist.
The guard took the photo and put it back in his wallet before pulling out a small piece of paper. The guard looked Bucky in the eye as Bucky lifted his gaze. “You served us Sergeant Barnes. You gave up more than we will ever know. We can never repay you, but when you’re ready, at least let us try.” Bucky took the paper and saw the VA logo and the government seal with a familiar name typed below it. Bucky looked up at the guard questioningly.
“My buddy at the hospital. He served too. He’ll take good care of you,” The guard smiled as Bucky took the paper. “Next time you want to come by, call ahead. My number’s on the back. You can come before close and take all the time you want.”
Bucky cleared his throat and extended his hand. “Thanks. For everything, Officer...?”
The guard smiled and took Bucky’s hand. “Riley. Sergeant James Riley. It’s an honor to meet you, Sergeant Barnes.

Anything involving newlywed Claire and Jaime being all over each other and the rest of the MacKenzie dudes cannot resist the temptation to tease them. Bonus points for Ned. Happy new year!
Mod Note: not quite a Ned or a wedding…yet. But Jamie and Claire, that I can do - MBD.
Chain of Command Part 2.
Once was never going to be enough, and as the months flew by, Claire and Jamie found many different (and increasingly more elaborate) ways to be alone with one another.
Waking, Claire felt the tickle of butterflies wings against her tender thighs as soft, supple, warm flesh touched soft, supple, warm flesh. Rocking her hips in time, she pressed herself closer to the feeling, her brain still a lust-filled haze of the night before. Her left shoulder rose from the bed as her legs curled around her morning visitor. Her back twisted slightly as she tried to surrender whilst consciously seeking the contact she needed to make her body tingle.
Jamie dug his fingers into Claire’s lightly bruised thighs as he pushed his head deeper, closer, higher.
She tasted of summer rain, the lust wetness of her coated his lips and his mouth as she writhed above him.
It didn’t last long, it never did. He knew her body too well and she couldn’t prolong the want once it reached a certain spike. Jamie knew her tipping point well.
Shattering into a million pieces, Claire grunted and moaned, her teeth finding purchase in a nearby pillow to stem the vocalisation of her pleasure.
“Good morning, Claire,” Jamie whispered, peeking up at her over her belly, a coy smile lighting his face.
The cat that had gotten the cream, Claire thought, as she ruffled his hair, her legs tingling in the aftermath.
“Yes,” she returned, eventually, “a very good morning indeed.”
That was the morning the sickness started, once Jamie had crept silently from her chambers and she’d given herself some time to wake properly without his *distractions* she’d noticed the roll in her belly.
Clenching her hands over her mouth as she rushed for the chamber pot, Claire had retched over the porcelain bowl in earnest.
The next afternoon, after all of her chores had been completed, she found herself in the same situation. Huddled away in her room, Claire worried over the prospect of getting sick - all the while never contemplating the actual reality of her situation. Convinced that it would eventually leave her, she ignored that persistent niggle at the back of her mind that compelled her to consider other options.
Weeks later when the sickness still hadn’t abated, Claire curled herself into a small ball by her self-made fire, tears springing to her eyes as the small voice became a very loud yell - as if someone were wailing directly into her ear.
“No,” she begged, cradling her flat belly as she finally gave in to her body’s signs, “it can’t be…I *cannot* be…”
But she was, and she knew it.
Pregnant.
Only weeks along, but in a family way nonetheless.
--
Throwing anything and everything she could find into the largest sheet she owned, Claire tied the top with loose string. If she left now she was certain she could be far enough away by nightfall. Whether she could find suitable lodgings was another matter, but she was willing to sleep rough if needed.
Walking along the borders of Lallybroch, she kicked the fallen leaves, nerves fluttering in her tummy. Nobody knew, of course, it being too early to tell physically. But they would soon. Soon she would begin to show and there would be no hiding it. Worrying, she imagined the worst possible scenarios. The question of parentage aside, she *knew* that there was only a small chance that she’d be able to keep her child.
She had to flee
As the day drew on, Claire padded closed to the end of Clan Fraser lands. The thought of crossing into unfamiliar territory alone scared her - but not as much as the prospect of having to face Mistress Ellen and Mama Crook scared her more.
And Jamie was another matter entirely.
Before she knew it the tree-line was within reach, the ominous overhang of the deep green boughs swaying in the evening breeze.
“Claire?” A familiar voice called, Causing Claire to swirl around on her heel.
Stood not one-hundred yards away were Ellen and Jamie. A basket of seasonal fruits dangled off Ellen’s arm as she grasped Jamie tightly with the other.
“Where on earth are ye going, lass?” Ellen spoke, not in an unfriendly tone as she tugged Jamie in Claire’s direction, “it’s a wee bit late to be out alone, is it no’?”
Blushing from ear to ear, Claire curtsied a little and clasped her neatly tied pack to her chest. “Possibly,” she choked out, trying to sound as confident as possible. The pair hadn’t been expected back at Lallybroch for at least two days and Claire definitely hadn’t expected to run into them here. “But I had some free time and I didn’t think I’d be missed.”
Hiding behind a partial truth, Claire stepped sideways, an unconscious move that made her intentions clear.
Scrunching his brow, Jamie stood straight, his hands clasped tightly behind his back. Something was off, he could tell, but he didn’t want to vocalise his fears in front of his mother. “Should I accompany ye, mistress?” He asked instead, looking between Claire and his mother for reassurance.
Ellen smiled, her teeth showing brightly as she rubbed Jamie’s back, “aye, son, I think that’s a verra good suggestion. Dinna be too late home though.”
“N-no, really,” Claire begged worriedly, her plan to disappear slowly falling apart right before her eyes. If Jamie were to come with her, she would never free herself of him for long enough to flee. He knew the land far too well for that. “I’m quite content by myself,”
Giving Jamie a withering look, Claire tried to convey with just her eyes how little she wanted company. But his hard stare in return told her all she needed to know. Jamie was not prepared to let her go so easily.
“Ach, Claire, lass,” Ellen berated playfully, “ye canna wander this woods during the dusk hours alone. Brian will be out to meet me, take Jamie wi’ ye and dinna argue.” Patting Jamie on the arm, Ellen skipped off back in the direction of Lallybroch leaving Claire to stare after her, shocked.
“Lead the way, mistress,” Jamie whispered, his tone indicating that he knew something was amiss.
But he didn’t ask what she was up to with a large package tucked under her right arm. He simply linked his arm through her free one and proceeded to walk her along the Fraser line, never once crossing into the unknown beyond.
“Where are we going?” She queried finally, as the dark clouds clears, the moon now illuminating the sky.
“I want to take ye somewhere, I’ve wanted to for a while and now seemed like the perfect moment. Is that alright, Claire?” He posed it as a question, but he hadn’t stopped walking, nor did it appear that he was actually giving her the option to refuse his request.
Appearing in front of them, a break in the tree line brought the solid wall of a large cliff face into view. Taking her through the close lines of rowan’s that grew, Jamie carefully showed Claire a safe route off the path and around the sheer rock that opened out into a large concealed cave.
“I ken yer worrit, Claire,” Jamie sighed, turning her to face him as he took both of her hands - causing her to drop the pack she carried. It landed with a dull thud that echoed through the cave beside them as Claire’s eye focused on Jamie’s face in the darkness. Her vision cleared slightly bringing the hint of his features into view. The cold had seeped in, the late summer breeze nipping at his nose, turning it a deep shade of pink. His eyes twinkled in the moonlight, giving him a mischievous look. “But you needn’t be. I’m here, dinna forget that…”
Bending, he nudged his nose against hers, licking his lips in anticipation as his head fell to the side.
An owl hooting outside in the forest brought Claire round hours later. Flexing her toes, she curled towards Jamie, her naked skin coming into direct contact with Jamie’s instantly. It hadn’t taken Jamie long to have Claire bare and wanting beneath him on the floor of the hidden cave. Undoing her wrap of clothing, he’d covered the craggy floor with her skirts before laying her down.
Basking in the aftermath, Jamie watched her out of the corner of his eye. Lain on his side, he had her arse resting on one thigh whilst the other sat snuggly over her legs, keeping her pinned against him.
Claire didn’t mind. Even when her stomach rebelled, the telltale sickness rolling in her belly as she breathed in and out, waiting for the feeling to abate, she clung to the closeness Jamie afforded her.
“I can almost see ye dreaming.” Jamie murmured, the fingers of his left hand drawing patterns against her taut abdomen as she writhed.
Leaves and twigs, stray detritus that had blow in from the trees beyond had caught in her hair during their amorous activities making Claire look almost like a wood-nymph. Twisting her head closer to his, she brushed her lips gently across his, elevating her hips in a very suggestive movement - one in time with the playful twitch of his fingers against her.
“I was dreaming of you,” she sighed in reply, a breathy sound that sent pleasurable shivers down his spine. “Thinking of all the improper ways that you could touch me and show me heaven.”
She was lust-drunk, sated from the touch of his body for only mere moments before being driven to want once again. He could feel the desperate way in which she ached for him, something he’d never felt from her before. A heightened urgency which bid him to kneel at her feet and worship her in every way he knew.
Something had changed, something that had caused her to panic initially, but that now held her solidly in his grasp.
Sliding his palm lower, the soft hairs that surrounded her, covering that forbidden place between her thighs, tickled the sensitive skin there. She was slippery, wet from their previous encounter still. A mixture of both him and her. Closing his eyes, Jamie rocked his hips against the outside of her thigh, coveting the thrill of touching her so intimately when he knew he shouldn’t.
“Can I have you?” He spoke, pausing his ministrations for just a second. All thoughts of just taking what he wanted evaporated as the implications of her carrying half of her worldly possessions dawned on him.
He would not simply coax her permission by using unconscious actions. If he wanted to build her trust, her love, he had to physically ask her. The consent of their liaison had to come from her vocalisation. Then, he thought to himself, she might begin to realise her self-worth as well as accepting his undying love and affection.
Breathing out a muffled groan, Claire tried to roll her hips - as if the action might bid Jamie to continue.
“Nay, love,” he returned, the wanton need in his voice driving her to distraction, “I want to hear ye…”
“Yes,” she replied, straight away and without hesitation, “yes, you can have me.”
No sooner had she accepted than Jamie had her at his whim. Moving himself over her, he pushed his groin level with hers, teasing her still with jagged pressure that caused Claire to cry out.
It was too much and not enough all at the same time, the pummelling of an emotion that she couldn’t quite name that tore at her insides and sent gooseflesh pulsating up her arms, along her shoulders and down her sides.
Claire shifted, her arse grating painfully on the sharp rocks beneath her. But that only heightened the feeling. Locking her feet around Jamie’s calves, she pushed herself flat against his crotch, her middle in line with his in an almost perfect way.
The friction built within her and she hadn’t even taken him inside yet.
Holding himself steady, Jamie let her use him as she needed, taking internal note of each of her motions for future use. He had never seen her this way.
Through the dim light, a deep charcoal blend that covered them both in an ebony blackness, he could see the sweat gather on her forehead. Her pupils were large making her eyes seem bleached of colour as her midnight curls swished and swayed around her head. She was the perfect blend of innocence and sin mixed into one perfect human. Had it been light, he thought blearily, he’d have probably been able to name at least six shades of red and pink that would have stained her cheeks. The exertion of their impassioned rendezvous would have shown clearly on her face. As it was, all colour was muted by the night, showing only various shades of damp grey as she keened and squirmed beneath him.
“Jamie…” she moaned, her voice light and airy as she arched her spine and rotated her hips, readying herself for him, “will you have me, too?”
Her question brought him up short, his heart stammering and stuttering as his eyes locked with hers. There was so much potential in her inquiry. One thing became painfully clear to him in that moment; Claire didn’t know that he’d been hers all along. Something niggled at him, begging him to unleash all of his passion and ardor upon her. But the more rational side of him spoke of calm patience. He wanted her to know him inside and out, but Claire was nervous of the supposed gap that lay between their elected stations in life and Jamie would have to be careful how he proceeded if he wished to continue wooing her.
“Yes, Claire, always…” he answered simply, shimmying his knees apart as he raised his hips slowly before pushing himself down and inside her once more, sheathing himself fully before taking another deep breath.
‘Always,’ he thought belatedly, the feeling of complete consummation dragging him under with her as he loved her over and over, ‘because I love you.’

Recap of Sunni's first time @ GG Live
Fuckin shit ok So we got there around 5ish, and already I’m nervous and worried I’m not gonma fit in or something. But then miraculously I start getting in conversation with some lovelies and ended up making new friends!
The gates of the Masonic opened up at around 6, and everyone went in and went through the security check and such. Then the opening for each floor level of the theater happened so we walked to our seats.
I got to meet @moopdrea !! It was a surreal thing and honestly meeting twitter friends irl is weirdly wonderful.
So then Moop and her buddy Emily decided to go get merch and food, & we came with. Got a stromboli and Player Select (the physical copy) and also dropped off grump fanart for Dan and Arin in a lil box they had at the merch booth for after the show.
Once that happened, we went back to our seats when FRICKIN ARIN JUST STRUTS ON STAGE AND DANCES TO SPOOKY SCARY SKELETONS. Everyone’s cheering and Arin’s just LOVIN it. So glad I caught it on camera.
Then soon Vernon and Suzy showed up!! Suzy looks so much cuter in person. And Vernon DAMN THAT BOD XP
So he set up Super Mario for Suzy to play blindfolded and we all cheered and yelled commands so she’d stop or wait or jump. She failed most of them XD BUT it was awesome anyway.
Finally, DAN AND ARIN MAKE IT IN. And let me just say, it’s as surreal as you can get. It was like they were real yet not really there??? I was basically blown away like “fuck, i love these guys and they’re right in front of my eyes waaaat” (side note Danny is JUST AS CUTE IRL AS HE IS IN PICTURES, SAME WITH MY DAD ARIN)
Just before the game started, Dan said he had a special friend in the crowd tonight, and it was his friend who introduced him to Brian all those years back to create NSP! It was the one girl from “The Decision” mv. And it was super sweet and made me all mistyeyed.
So started the game of choice, MARIO PARTY 10. And this time, it was split between one half of the room and the other. We were team Toad, while the rest of us were team Waluigi.
The game got fucking INTENSE man. And Vernon was running around the theatre and booking it up the stairs to the balcony like a boss O.O
We had A LOT of good players, yet Arin and Dan’s banter was by far the best thing. Also Arin trying to trick Dan with more elementary school jokes was amazing.
Arin: hey Dan, what’s a henway?
Dan:…..*serious face* I’m not falling for that. I’m still recovering from updog.
Also Danny NEVER did the floating weiner thing with your two fingers?? And Arin showed him how, THE GLEE ON DAN’S FACE AS HE’S LAUGHING AT WHAT HAPPENED WAS SO PURE.
So we played more Mario, and fricken there was a little 7 year old girl in the audience named Cadence that Danny had spotted and was just. THE SWEETEST TO.
He had her come up and play, and HE WAS ON HIS KNEES AT HER HEIGHT JUST TALKING TO HER AND ASKING HER LIKE “WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW? WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE POKEMON?” and I’m just sitting here like Danny you sweet man you I love you.
So that was awesome and Cadence got a group hug! (Danny, her, her dad, Arin, and the dude on team Waluigi). It was beautiful and awkward.
Finally it got to the final stretch of the game, everyone’s freaking out and unfortunately, Waluigi kicks our Toad’s ass. But we put up a great fight for second.
Then Q AND A TIME! I got so excited to ask my question, and Vernon comes up to my line, and he PICKED THE GIRL NEXT TO MY SISTER INSTEAD -_-
Alas twas not meant to be. However! I TALKED TO THE HOT PEPPER BOI! By that I mean it went like this:
Me: Hi Vernon! How are you? Vernon: good! how about you? Me: doing alright :3 …. Me: I’m sorry I’m all awkward it’s just like “omg your right here” Vernon: ah nah *waves it off ljke he’s not the best*
Soon the Q & A ends, there was a lot of emotional ones they asked (except that one guy who asked Dan and Arin out to prom)
Arin: will there be a corsage? What no? NO CORSAGE? Then forget it!
Danny: you better bring me home by 8 or my dad’s gonna kill me.
Arin: yeah I’ll be real upset.
*OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!*
And finally, they finished off the show with Danny saying some sweet words about doing this all for us and we mean so much to them. It made me love them all over again.
(little things to note:) -Arin not being able to flip the water bottle. Twice. -Danny missing the gum catch -Dan calling Vernon & Arin pieces of shit but immediately saying he was kidding and he loves them -Arin literally POSING for everyone. DAMN -Dan misunderstanding certain words that made everyone laugh their asses off -ARIN DOUBLE DABBING. AND DAN DOUBLE DABBING. -Cadence saying “I will destroy him” to her opponent. -Mason (a different volunteer for Waluigi) had Arin and Dan rub their faces on his beard. It was apparently like a shiatsu massage. -Jesus appearing in the corner of the room. Give it up for my boy JESUS! -Arin saying Suzy inspires him and Suzy peeking from behind the curtains as they exchange blowing kisses 💚💚 -someone hand farting the GG theme -a girl playing a tiny instrument (I wish I remembered the name of it!) -Danny standing on a chair -Arin semi sitting on a chair to match the height of another volunteer (he was quite tall) -Arin randomly screaming “shut up!” when we got too loud Cx -Vernon literally running back to the stage going “I LOST ONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS SHE WAS RIGHT HERE AND THEN GONE” -Dan spilling water everywhere -Vernon and Suzy's "mating call" for the boys -Dan mistaking Suzy for someone coming on stage -Arin floffing the floof hair -Arin being called “Big Cat” by Dan…after being insulted just so he can comfort him.
The show was such a blast and I loved being there. I only wish I could have said hi to them in person but that’ll have to wait till next time.
Also saw Vernon again, but just said a simple hi. I wanted a selfie with him, but he looked pretty busy and I didn’t wanna be THAT person
So then we hung out at Moop’s dorm (which is actually a lot bigger than I thought) and then I got picked up and driven home :3

My next victim is Patrick James Ryan. He is a super nice man and a really great author. He is very skilled in martial-arts and loves Bruce Lee! He has a great sense of humor and always makes me laugh. His books are amazing and if you have not picked one up you must!! Recently I read Blood Verse and totally loved it. Until I read that I didn’t realize that he is also a talented dark poet. There is a story then a poem then story in this book. I really enjoyed that about it and in fact I begged him to send in several submissions for Hellbound’s Poetry anthology. I’m proud to say that he did!
First, let me offer some thanks to you, Becky for this great opportunity to be interviewed by you for your blog! You are awesome! ~ Patrick
Please welcome Patrick James Ryan to Roadie Notes…….
    1. How old were you when you first wrote your first story?
I was 24 years old when I first wrote “Road Kill,” one of the short stories in my collection titled ~ BLOOD VERSE. We then had three children and writing took a major step to the back burner in life, with sports and activities taking precedence as we lived somewhat vicariously through the kids. It was resurrected again back in 2007 when I lost my father and I began to write again in earnest.
  2. How many books have you written?
I have three published works at present: BLOOD VERSE, THE NIGHT IT GOT OUT, & THE MAGGOTS UNDERNEATH THE PORCH. A second short story collection will come out in 2018, and I am working on four books at present.
  3. Anything you won’t write about?
I struggle at times writing sex, especially if it is graphic and gratuitous. While I am certainly not a prude, I’d much rather write a suspenseful scene that grips and shocks the reader, making them want to flip the pages to see what happens next!
  4. Tell me about you. Age (if you don’t mind answering), married, kids, do you have another job etc…
I don’t mind. I am forty-six and try very hard to keep myself in shape. I am married and we have three wonderful children. I work in the Financial Services industry by day as my primary income, hoping to make it big in the publishing/screenwriting/movie industry a-la John Grisham and others who have transitioned successfully from their day jobs to full-time writing.
  5. What’s your favorite book you have written?
I have received the most commercial success and accolades over THE NIGHT IT GOT OUT, but it was the short story & poemcollection, BLOOD VERSE that first caught the eye of a publishing house and opened the opportunities I have now. I wrote that collection with tremendous drive and passion, and I would love to think readers view the stories not only as thrilling, but very original.
    6. Who or what inspired you to write?
My Father was a huge believer in my writing, and I am often driven to succeed in the industry as a tribute to him! I also have a former English Professor who loves my writing and is now committed to assisting with editing, a highly valued commodity in this business as we make our own worst proof readers as writers! I have also been highly inspired by the works of Stephen King, John D. MacDonald, Jack Ketchum, Brian Keene, Lee Child, John Grisham, and many other wonderful authors.
    7. What do you like to do for fun?
I have been in martial arts since I was a kid and hold a Second Degree Black Belt in a 5 Animal System of Kung Fu. I am a HUGE Bruce Lee fan! I obviously love to read, listen to Rock music, love College Football and spending fun time with the family!
  8. Any traditions you do when you finish a book?
None at present, but I love the idea. It makes me think of the fictitious character in Stephen King’s book, MISERY, who always smoked a cigar upon completion of a book!

9. Where do you write? Quiet or music?
We have a small little spare bedroom where I’ve got the computer set up along with tons of family and inspirational pictures. I  BLAST rock music when I write. Bands from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Kansas/Journey/Foreigner/Styx/Motley Crue to Guns n Roses, and at times even some light rock.
  10. Anything you would change about your writing?
Probably more character development in THE NIGHT IT GOT OUT and having the self-awareness of a great editor much earlier in my career.
  11. What is your dream? Famous writer?
Of course the standard dream of any author would be: Best selling author with books being a conduit to the Silver Screen! But, it goes deeper than that ~  the most rewarding thing for me is when I am told a person has enjoyed reading a story. It is very rewarding to know that you created something that impacted someone and allowed them to have a few hours out of their life that they enjoyed from your contribution as a writer. Income is good and no one works for free, but you cannot put a monetary amount on the ability to please and provide enjoyment to another human being!
  12. Where do you live?
I am in Columbus, Ohio.
  13. Pets?
Other than the kids (LOL!), yes we have two cats ~ Daisy and Darby. Daisy is a Tortie while Darby is a grey Tiger. Darby follows me around incessantly, everywhere as if I am hermother. She cries for attention for me. Licks my arms and always has to be by my side! She greatly diminishes my macho martial art image! LOL!
  14. What’s your favorite thing about writing?
Like athletics, when I am really cruising with ideas and words itis like when athletes say they are “in the zone.” The autonomy and opportunity to be creative and craft something from scratch is awesome!
  15. What is coming next for you?
In addition to the nextshort story collection coming out this year, I am currently working on four more books. One is a martial arts fiction thriller. The second is a homicide detective thriller geared for a huge mainstream audience. The third is the first in a series of novels about a warrior who battles evil things, and last but not least in response to huge fan demand, I am going to write a sequel to THE NIGHT IT GOT OUT.
    16. Where do you get your ideas?
Anywhere and everywhere! Driving in the car sometimes on business. Watching a TV commercial or show. Here is an example: One night I was watching THE EXORCIST on cable and commercial after commercial was a relentless stream of erectile dysfunction medication ads. I got so sick and tired of watching them. I mean, seriously, if you took one of those pills why would you and your special person be in separate tubs if you’re ready to get it on? LOL! Anyway, it hit me to write the story, LITTLE SWIMMERS in BLOOD VERSE.   If I say any more, I will spoil the story, but once you have read it, you will remember the answer to this question and probably laugh!
Anything else you would like to include?
For anyone seeking to be a writer, I would offer this advice: Write with passion. Believe in yourself. Be committed to working hard. Don’t pay attention to naysayers and harsh critics. However, do listen to sound advice as we all have blind sides and sometimes constructive criticism can be a great learning tool to help you continue to hone your craft. I personally believe school is never out in this industry, and I am always open to input, feedback, and opinions from both readers and fellow authors.

The Exam
Best Music Moment of 2017:
Tumblr media
Code: dancing out the entire wedding reception playlist with my best girl on an empty concrete slab on a breezy texas night
BC: -The absolute stellar dance party at Codemin’s Wedding; most notably:
     “Carol” by The Rolling Stones
“Enjoy the Silence” by Depeche Mode
     “Crystal” by New Order
-OK Computer’s 20th Anniversary and the listening/reflection that came with it -My four year old, Emmett, learning “Maps” on the drums pretty much on his own
JD: February: Watching the “Emotional Rescue” scene in A Bigger Splash:
youtube
March: Seeing Stop Making Sense on the big screen at my favorite theater with m’gal and a David Byrne Q&A after the screening. April: The dance party of a lifetime at Code and Arden’s wedding. November: Watching Parquet Courts play “You’ve Got Me Wondering Now” for the first time in years.
C: "Born to Run" at a good friend's, Brian Ferguson's, wedding.
Nasty: This playing at the end of Leftovers Season 3, Ep 5 - "The Most Powerful Man in the World"
Bronco: Sitting on my back porch with Brenny, sipping down some delicious whiskey drinks and listening to the new Mastodon on a surprisingly unshitty Amazon bluetooth speaker. Watching his face on the breakdown in Jaguar God was quite entertaining. Also listening to the Squalus album (the metal interpretation of Jaws) with the kids, my oldest asking what it was, and him saying he wants to watch Jaws now. He was especially fascinated by the USS Indianapolis part of the story.
Laser: This
Chap: My 17 has been dominated by the two new ladies in my life. I made this mix for them:
and played it for them on random the morning they were born. This was the first song that came on:
and I finally broke down with emotion after the 36 hour experience while holding one of them while this song was playing:
Best Shows Seen in 2017:
BC: This first 60 seconds of this:
youtube
Nasty: Future Islands & Action Bronson
Larse: Future Islands with Maddie, Nasty, and Sam; Action Bronson at The Rave - pretty sure I got a contact high just from being in the show
C: War on Drugs
Bronco: Mastodon
Codem: lvl up - beat kitchen kitten forever - subterranean downstairs ovlov - beat kitchen pqc - the bottle girlpool - logan square auditorium moving units’ joy division cover set - the bottle PAWS - cobra lounge a. savage - the bottle pictureplane
JD: 1. William Basinski and Julianna Barwick at National Sawdust 2. No Age at Elsewhere 3. Parquet Courts and B-Boys at Elsewhere 4. Liars at Warsaw 5. Deerhunter and Eleanor Friedberger performing while Bradford Cox painted her portrait onstage at Warsaw 6. LCD Soundsystem at Brooklyn Steel 7. Yo La Tengo in Central Park 8. Andrew WK at Warsaw 9. Vince Staples at Panorama Fest 10. Wire at Baby’s All Right 11. Vagabon at Brooklyn Bazaar
Confession of 2017:
Bronco: I listened to the New Kids On The Block offering of 2017 "Thankful" (it was fucking terrible).
C: Still haven’t listened to LCD Soundsystem
Code: -knowing the backstory, the mount eerie album was probably the best album i heard this year, but it was too dang sad to listen to more than a handful of times. -i still loved that brand new song despite the lead cat being a creep. -i thought that this year was pretty rough for music, but my tune changed after looking back through my top tracks.  maybe there were just so few full albums that i liked? -i fast fwd'd through every SNL musical guest this calendar year, but i did catch the tom petty tribute from the vegas countrymin.
BC: I don’t hate that objectively awful Chainsmokers/Coldplay song because it reminds me of this year’s BOB since Creevey played it every twenty minutes for 36 holes.
Larson: Listened to more rap this year than I think I have in past years; must be Nasty's Lincoln influence!
Nasty: I listened to more podcasts than music in 17.
Biggest Disappointment of 2017:
Tumblr media
Laser: LCD Soundsystem
Codem: -no chromatics this year. -the two lcd shows that i saw this year.
Chap: The albums. I would not be shocked if I didn't listen to any of my top 15 all the way through after today.
Bin: DJT
JD: Mondanile
BC: Real Estate.  I think they need to invite the perv back into the band.
Bronco: Bison, Monolord, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, And So I Watch You From Afar. They all put out albums this year, and I've like their stuff in the past, but they did little to nothing for me this time around.
Most Overrated of 2017:
Codem: slowdive, but also twod and japanese breakfast
Bin: Bodak Yellow / Cardi B
Larse: LCD Soundsystem
Bronco: -Pallbearer - just don't like the guy's voice, and though they're slow as shit, there's no good riffs or anything to connect with for me. -Code Orange - hardcore band that I just don't get. One of those 'motherfucker I'm the best!' type super close to being alt-right supremecy type bands even though they're probably completely against it. They're at the top of most metal lists this year. I've given them 4-5 spins, most in reaction to the praise they're getting, but I just don't get it. -Royal Thunder - just one big case of blue balls. All of their songs seemingly build toward a climax that never happens. It's just so blech.
JD: Did the music press even treat anything as a lasting work of art and not ephemeral content to get through a week or two of famous personality driven clicks? King Krule?
BC: Lorde, I think?  I mean, that album’s gotten a lot of love this year and I thought the lead single – “Green Light” – was hot garbage. It spawned a conspiracy theory in my mind that Taylor Swift was proactively influencing and then purposefully sabotaging the work of her close friends (see Lorde, Haim, et al).
Make it Stop 2017
Tumblr media
Bronco: Sex monsters. Can we just take all white dudes in powerful positions, assume they've sexually assaulted at least one person, imprison them, and move on? We could take everything they have, give it all to Native American tribes, then force them to walk their own trail of tears to live out their lives in the desserts of New Mexico, and force them to build the wall, but it would just be a wall around their sad sex monster reservation.
Also, Taylor Swift.
Nasty: I didn't have the luxury of expending any real hate on music this year... which I'm just now recognizing as a bad thing.
JD: -Unceasing sadness and anxiety about the present and future. -Jack Antonoff
BC: Life on this planet.
Code: any rap station that i hear in an uber. that cardi b song was playing every time i caught a cab at 5:30 a.m. to play golf.
Larson: U2
Biggest TBH Regret of 2017:
BC: Not seeing NIN at RiotFest
Larson: Skipping the Car Seat Headrest show at Summerfest because I could tell Maddie didn't want to leave Jonas' party (party was fun, so not a real loss, just wish I would have seen the show).
Nasty: Not even giving new artists a chance. I'll listen to an average album from The National 10x's before I give someone new a shot.
Codebreaker: not having an opportunity to karaoke badu's tyrone
JD: -Had the worst fever of my life during LCD and could only manage standing in the back shivering. -Forgetting to go see Dinner at Baby’s All Right. -Not enough time with Bjork, Miguel, and Blanck Mass.
Bronco: Fucked up the family calendar maintenance and ended up not being able to see the Toadies and Local H. I was pissed at my wife, but it wasn't the end of the world. I haven't listened to either in forever, and the listen I gave to the Toadies latest offering didn't knock my socks off. It was really just for nostalgic purposes. Still it sucked to have to miss it despite my best efforts to bring it to her attention multiple times.
Detective Murtaugh of 2017:
Tumblr media
NACK: I had two separate opportunities to see LCD, and just didn't feel like putting in the effort. Was going to put this as a regret, but I don't regret it.
Code: i skipped 7 shows that i had tickets for and left 6 shows early. two shows i left early due to brightness of lights.  mmmmmnhh
JD: Couldn’t hear for 18 hours after No Age. Needed two Tylenol for the headache I gave myself during “You’ve Got Me Wondering Now” at PQ Quartz.
BC: Having no idea who either the SNL host or the musical guest was for three straight weeks.  Tiffany Haddish? Saoirse Ronan? SZA? I’m too old for this shit…
Nasty: Carson, Maddie, Sam and I went to watch the IU game this weekend with one of Carson's co-workers (an IU grad) who is 23.... I got rolling on a rant about how important it is to enjoy your 20s because after the impending onslaught of weddings and babies life basically isn't any fun anymore. Suspect it was a little too impassioned by the end.
Bronco: I was enrolled in a three month coding bootcamp to learn Web Development. Aside from the two older ladies (50+) and the weird Brazilian idiot (45+), I was the oldest person in the room by probably an average of 13 years. They are all for the most part life-pivoting in to the dev world and they all have all the time in the world to learn new shit, do whatever they want, whenever they want...goddamnit I miss that. So maybe this is my "too married and fathered for this shit" section of the exam.
C: Wife’s Pregnancy
Laser: Every time I wake up with a fucking hangover and tell myself that I’m not gonna drink like that again only to get back on the saddle the next available opportunity.
Resolution for 2017 Update:
BC: Put a goddamn band together. How it went:
Tumblr media
C: Check out some jazz/blues in Chicago. How it went: FAILED
Larson:  Focus on the shit I really care about instead of trying to listen to everything posted on the thread…I’m just going to have to be honest with myself and realize I ain’t got time for all this media! How it went: Terrible; found myself listening to Timeless Pop Rock hits playlist more than anything else.
Chap: Check out more of the recommendations on the TBH thread. Try to organize get-togethers around TWO shows. How it went: Actually not bad. I had a few solid period during nap times when I didn't feel like working. I think I was able to listen to every album I wanted to at least once.
Code: make concerted effort to listen to music that i liked in previous years in addition to music from the current year. How it went: i nailed my resolution, as i devoted four full months to the grateful dead and it was the best musical trimester of the year for me. it was really interesting to watch all of the new music pile up and never once feeling compelled to listen to something else. god damn did the '77 version of the band have it all figured out. i could listen to any uptown mississippi halfstep toodeloo from that year at any time.
Bronco: Learn the guitar. I’ve been fooling around with Rocksmith (guitar hero with real guitar) and I want to push myself to execute the more complex chords, not just stick to the powerchord simple songs like Blitzkrieg Bop, and start learning how to build and execute a solo. I also want to distill my own whiskey, build a garden shed from scratch, and learn to code. How it went: I haven't quite mastered the guitar, but I can play a few songs fairly well. I did not start working on my own whiskey or build a garden shed from scratch...yet. But I did learn to code. I am now at conversational levels of fluency with Javascript and at "donde es el bano" levels with Ruby and Python.
Nasty: See a show in NY with JD. How it went: Not great, Bob! I barely made it down the street to see Action Bronson with Laser
JD: Seeing more shows with you guys is an evergreen resolution. How it went: To quote BC,
Tumblr media
Resolution for 2018:
BC: No more resolutions
C: Catch some jazz in Chicago
Laser: get my list in on time!
Chap: While I didn't have the occasion to catch shows this year, I anticipate doing so in '18 due to some changes afoot.
Codem: make more playlists for my wife
Bronco: Get in shape. I want to stick to a schedule of running all year round. I ran a 10K back in June, then needed to recover for a bit, been recovering ever since...Fat Dad needs to keep running all year round without excuse, especially given that we go skiing between Xmas and New Year's and I'm gonna be a floppy legged mess. During those runs, I'll try to listen to new material each time.
Bin: I'm just going to keep saying "get to NY for a show with JD" until I make it happen.
JD: See you gents more often with or without a show attached.
Most Anticipated of 2018:
Tumblr media
C: MBV
JD: MBV, No Age, Panda Bear, something surprising
Code: chromatics (i think it's really coming this year), mbv, no age, DOM, CCFX full album
Bronco: Tool. Fourth year's the charm...fuck those guys. It better suck me off when it finally does come out. Also a new Sleep album and a new High on Fire album...still waitin' on those too.
BC: Simple Minds, Vampire Weekend, Kanye
Nasty: Kanye, ASAP Rocky, Rhye, Chromeo, Vampire Weekend
Chap: After a quick glance at the list... Vampire Weekend, Kanye, Chromatics
Larse: Honestly don't even know what is on the horizon, just hope I can listen to it with this net neutrality bullshit!

First, let me offer some thanks to you, Becky for this great opportunity to be interviewed by you for your blog! You are awesome! ~ Patrick
Patrick James Ryan is a native of Columbus, Ohio and the popular author of the diverse short story collection, “Blood Verse,” the best-selling novel at Black Bed Sheet Books ~ “The Night It Got Out” and his most recent release, “The Maggots Underneath The Porch.” Patrick has appeared in numerous radio interviews and blogs and is a recognized as a popular new voice in the horror/suspense/thriller genre. Patrick and his wife, Molly enjoy their three children ~ Colleen, Michael and Patrick, Jr. An avid sports and music fan, Patrick enjoys Football, Basketball, Baseball, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and most hard rock. In addition to writing, Patrick is a voracious reader, taking in an eclectic swath of fiction and non-fiction across many genres, with horror being a favorite. A practitioner of martial arts for over 25 years, he holds a second degree black belt and is a huge fan of Bruce Lee and is considered an expert with Nunchakus. He is currently finishing up a second short story collection and a mainstream detective thriller for 2018.

Darby follows me around incessantly, everywhere as if I am her mother. She cries for attention for me. Licks my arms and always has to be by my side! She greatly diminishes my macho martial art image! LOL!
14. What’s your favorite thing about writing? Like athletics, when I am really cruising with ideas and words it is like when athletes say they are “in the zone.” The autonomy and opportunity to be creative and craft something from scratch is awesome!
15. What is coming next for you? In addition to the next short story collection coming out this year, I am currently working on four more books.
Any advice for new writers? For anyone seeking to be a writer, I would offer this advice: Write with passion. Believe in yourself. Be committed to working hard. Don’t pay attention to naysayers and harsh critics. However, do listen to sound advice as we all have blind sides and sometimes constructive criticism can be a great learning tool to help you continue to hone your craft. I personally believe school is never out in this industry, and I am always open to input, feedback, and opinions from both readers and fellow authors.
