it's almost comical how obviously the supernatural creative team did not agree on how they felt about John Winchester or how they wanted the audience to feel about him. you get an episode where Sam says Dean was the only one who was there for him, the one who raised him, and Dean apologizes for how often he took John's side by explaining that he had to keep the peace and that John sent him away when he pissed him off too much. then the very next episode is like Dean's heart's desire is to have John back, look at them having heart felt talks about how they know he did his best and don't resent him for anything. like weren't you just talking about how much this guy sucked?

#supernatural #i know you can have complex emotions about your family #and its possible to recognize that someone hurt you while a partof you still loves them #but i just dont think thats what they were going for #like when the mentions of him are a little farther apart i chalk it up to sam and dean feeling different about their dad at different times #because its a complicated messy relationship to work through #but the 180 from one episode to the next #'he was the worst' to 'he was the best guy around'#just doesn't make sense #anyway #fuck john winchester
