Sorry just remembered like over ten years ago my sister tried to play Oppression Olympics™ between Sasuke and Neji, claiming Sasuke's had a harder life and like yeah his entire family was killed and his brother made him watch it and that sucks.
Neji's family literally owns him.
Look I don't want to compare them or anything, and having to watch your family die is, objectively awful, but being actively kept as a slave by your own family is also an objectively awful thing lol
#Naruto#Neji Hyuga#Sasuke Uchiha#and like also Sasuke lives in pain from what happened because he actively chooses to let it consume him#that's like a major character flaw of his#it's literally his entire motivation for joining Orochimaru#like losing his family and being forced to watch was a one-time event that Sasuke *actively* refuses to move on from#(two-time if you count the time he at twelve years old picked a fight with Itachi and thought he'd win for some reason)#Neji however lives suffering because he quite literally has no choice#Neji doesn't have a choice in being a slave that's just what his life is#I'm not trying to claim that one has it worse than the other#but I feel like that context is also pertinent#yes I've been kind of bitter about this for over 10 years lol#but I will *never* get over my sister's ''oh well what does *Neji* have to be miserable about?'' comment#it's like ''he's literally a slave boo'' lol#there were other characters she was comparing him too at the time but Sasuke was the big one haha#trash king rambles#actually you know what I'll say it#compared to basically every other ''tragic backstory'' character in the series#Sasuke's is actually pretty tame#yeah he lost his family but at least pretty much everyone still loves him#Kimimaro was raised in a cage and then also watched his entire family die#Gaara's dad tried to assassinate him several times and his entire village despised him#Naruto was treated like a literal monster by basically the entire village and he also has no family#Sasuke's just the most dramatic of the Trauma Orphans™ honestly like get over it lol

Ikemen Sengoku Part 11 - Kennyo Route
Tumblr media
Honestly, Kennyo isn't my cup of tea but I am interested in how their romance will develop since it seems like such an unlikely match hahhaha. Anyway, it's pretty unfair of the heroine to feel distaste and dread against Nobunaga when he told Ranmaru that if he ever turned on him, he would kill him. Like um, I'm sure that's pretty normal, not to mention that Ranmaru literally ditched his master to save himself which is pretty ridiculous as one of the closest people to him. He's pretty lucky Nobunaga forgave him. Anyway, it's funny for the heroine to think Nobunaga as awful but not blink an eye at how "awful" Kennyo is for killing random retainers or whatever of Nobunaga. But I guess she has to think of Nobunaga as awful to pique Kennyo's interest lol. Anyway, imagining a bunch of warlords cleaning a storage room together is hilarious. But it was nice of them all to participate, and kind of Ranmaru to plan it to cheer her up after encountering Kennyo. Anyway, I wanted to mention that Kicho is hot and probably second to Kenshin for me, I need his route now😭 It was honestly saddening to see Kennyo pray for forgiveness for his future actions and stuff, his story has always been a sad one that hurts my heart to think about since he's someone that can never move on from the past and can only seek out revenge as his reason for living. He hurts and kills others but feels immense pain over it, and I feel like if he got his revenge, he'd probably kill himself in atonement for it all, but anyway, it's nice of the heroine to want to know more about him (even though she doesn't show any of that leniency towards Nobunaga lol).
Although it's kinda funny how much the heroine and Kennyo coincidentally bump into each other, I do like how every time they do, the heroine shows more and more of her kindness and humanity to remind him of the "better" part of people. I think it really helps Kennyo to put into perspective that she is a sort of light to illuminate his darkness that he can't let go of, although technically a nuisance to remind him of his old self and everything haha. Anyway, it's kinda funny how it was "funny" that Hideyoshi was so worried about the heroine delivering stuff herself and he even told her to bring a weapon with her just in case, and it turns out that maybe she really should have listened to him lol! I think it's actually quite sweet that ringing Kennyo's bell led to his pet weasel stealing it from her and essentially leading her to him lol. It's sweet to see them bond, especially when they saved a little kitten stuck up on a tree together, it just felt like Kennyo really was as normal as he should be and as kind as he still is. It would be nice if the heroine can bring out more and more of his true kindness. Aww young Kennyo looks pretty hot! Although the current mature one is much better I guess. However, Kennyo probably would disagree considering everything he has experienced since then lol. It's nice to see a bit of background for Ranmaru as well as Kennyo though, it can't be helped that Ranmaru would be so attached to Kennyo if he's been by his side since he was saved by Kennyo as a child. It's so sweet to know how happy Ranmaru is over Kennyo and the heroine liking each other and Kennyo becoming more soft and compassionate like he once was because of her, but also sad to see that Ranmaru also really likes her. You'll have your route one day!!
Tumblr media
I guess it's nice to see how Shingen wants to try his best to convince Kennyo to give up on his revenge on Nobunaga before it's too late. It’s always nice to have a “friend” like that. Alike the heroine, I wanted to cry for Kennyo too when he told her the story behind the bell. I think it's really painful to have to constantly remember how he and his reinforcements were too late to save his comrades, and because there were traps, they had to flee before they could even get to bury their bodies, having only the bell as remembrance of that day. It's sad though, the bell is kinda like a shackle for Kennyo, a shackle constantly reminding him of revenge and all his comrades' pain. Young Nobunaga is cute lol. Anyway, Kennyo being hurt over the heroine's "betrayal" was actually painful enough that I felt like I could feel it, I felt so bad for him. But I'm glad Ranmaru and her both decided that they couldn't let Kennyo dwell in such darkness again and want to save him, it was pretty heartbreaking but the heroine is filled with such hope and desire to save Kennyo, it makes me feel so touched.
I wanna call the heroine stupid for telling Hideyoshi she really did go out to meet Kennyo when he already established it was a misreport, but really it's never stupid to be truthful about your feelings and to be honest with your heart. I guess this really is the romantic ending huh! I think what I love the most is that everyone knows what kind of person Kennyo is, and that's why they believe they can resolve this war peacefully without bloodshed, and the heroine appearing is like the best gift in hopes of making that truly happen. Anyway, I liked how Kennyo felt like he really could at least put things behind for now, and that it was allowed, and that what most people cared about was him rather than revenge itself. It's sad that Ranmaru won't be with them along their journey to all the temples and see how his people are doing, but I think it's his chance to live for himself rather than following Kennyo so I think the parting is important. I liked the ending. Reading Kennyo's PoV and seeing that in the beginning of the route, he moved those dead bodies so that the heroine wouldn't have to feel scared and see them again when she woke up was really thoughtful of him. I think what I enjoy seeing a lot from Kennyo's perspective is how much his people love and revere him. You can really see more of how much they follow him because they love and respect him more than anything else.
It was obvious that either Kennyo or the heroine were going to get hurt and force them to go to the future (in the dramatic route), which is honestly why I don't really like the dramatic ending sometimes, it's just so..dramatic lmao, it is what it is at least hahaha. Anyway, what I'm really enjoying about the dramatic route is the exploration of Kicho as this "evil" guy that has actually actively killed people and tries to stir up trouble for revenge on Nobunaga apparently. He's hot so it's good, but I think what I like about his character is the potential exploration of how being transported to the future and back to the past doesn't always mean you could survive happily like Sasuke, and you're not necessarily fortunate enough like the heroine to save someone like Nobunaga and gain the adoration of all the warlords. Lmao, the idea of Kennyo watching dramas with the heroine in the modern world sounded so cute. It was nice that the heroine got to meet her family and spend three months there before going back though. It was also nice that Kennyo was able to see Hongan-ji and it's teachings still alive to that day, I think that would be very heartwarming and motivational. I also thought it was really nice to see Kennyo and everyone rebuilding their temples and stuff, having Ranmaru there really made it feel like family. Honestly, I think I liked both the dramatic route and the romantic route. For the dramatic route, I liked how...more things happened I guess, so we got to see stuff like Kennyo enjoying dramas with the heroine in the modern world, but on the other hand, I personally preferred the bittersweet ending in the romantic route where Kennyo and the heroine go on a journey visiting the temples and helping the people who believe in him etc. I also liked how Ranmaru decided to find something for himself in that route. Tbh, I don't have a preference for what Ranmaru chooses because I feel like he's someone who would benefit from both? Like, him staying with Kennyo is truly what he desires, so being able to share his everyday life with the kind Kennyo is what he would love to do, but at the same time I also like the idea of him going out on his own to kinda explore this world now that he's stronger and can take care of himself, especially since I think it would benefit him to learn more things that he wouldn't be able to if he stayed so yeah I really liked both perspectives of how Ranmaru's life could change too.
Overall, I really liked Kennyo's route. He's probably one of my favourites actually, because I just love how they portrayed his pain over the loss of his companions and how much he cherished them? I've always liked that part of him so it was nice to see that expanded on, and I think it was really cute how the heroine and him got to bond over just little chats and spending time getting to know each other. Seeing Kennyo so soft towards the heroine and his people made me really like him. Ranmaru was also such a highlight in this route because seeing him respect Kennyo and want to help him made you understand how worth it Kennyo was haha. I guess I just really liked how gentle Kennyo was balanced with how he was burdened with so much responsibility over so many deaths, it just made his story really heartbreaking, but all the more satisfying when he finally got to share in some happiness with the heroine. Both endings were also pretty great. I think if you like the mature, responsible grieving guy that's really kind, you would probably like Kennyo🤣 Looking back at what I first said when I started this route...not my cup of tea my ass LOL, he’s totally my type hahahaha! Definitely a good surprise I guess haha!

Naruto Shippuden, ep475-479
So this is the end of the main storyline. I have a lot of half-formed thoughts, but let me say plainly:
I can’t believe they screwed up a very simple ending this badly.
475:
Speaking for the entire thing, this entire section is about 3 episodes too long. It drags insanely.
Most sections of the fight are quite dull, and the more... metaphorical parts are also bad.
Moving on. Son Goku wanted to go back to “Suirendo.” Kokuou, to a forest.
Naruto says it’s like Kaguya didn’t have a heart... Even though we got an entire flashback about her feelings and motivations. Even though she cried in front of him. Naruto, wtf.
Hagoromo blames eating the chakra fruit. Again with a very stupid and selective choosing of which powers are bad and why.
Sasuke decides to walk over to the Valley of the End for no reason except to be dramatic. They seems to have moved fairly close during the fighting.
I shit on Hagomoro a lot, but his reasons are fairly clear and he actively changes his approach because of past experiences. I can appreciate that.
476:
Sasuke thinks that Itachi was a true Hokage because he tried to take on protecting the entire village and country on his own, unacknowledged by anyone. This is the opposite definition of Naruto’s, that the Hokage is the one who is acknowledged by everyone. Like almost everything about their confrontation, this is stupid as fuck. You can say that Itachi was a true shinobi, but a Hokage is a leader. You obviously need to actually... y’know.... lead people, which Itachi never did.
Sasuke’s stated plan is incredibly vague. It’s fairly obvious that Kishimoto just randomly threw something together to excuse him and Naruto fighting. The fact that it’s STILL so bad is amazing. If you exclude the Hokage nonsense, Sasuke sounds like he wants to pull a Lelouch scheme of becoming the enemy that unifies the world against him (”bearing all hatred”). Except of course, Sasuke wants to be Hokage, which is the face of an entire village. What does he think is going to happen to the village if he’s in charge....
I do like how Sasuke just outright told Hagoromo what he’s going to do, and Hagoromo stuck to his guns about letting both of them have his power. It’s stupid on its own, but it makes sense in light of Indra.
There’s this one animator (team?) who do really specific detailed hand to hand fights, and I always feel bad about finding them super boring. Clearly effort went in! And yet, they’re so disinteresting and janky looking.
Naruto here still has the fleshy bit chakra mode, even though he’s supposed to have used up Hagoromo’s power when sealing Kaguya. He doesn’t have it at any later point though.
The Susanoo spits out fireballs... I guess it can do giant jutsus now?
Naruto does try to object to Sasuke’s.... “plan” by saying there’s no guarantee that whatever new system he creates won’t be just as bad. But like.... BRO, there’s no guarantee YOUR changes will do better?? He has no other concrete arguments either.
The only thing Naruto concretely objects to is that he doesn’t want Sasuke to be alone. There are two issues with this. One, the correct follow up to this is “I’ll go with you,” not to make someone stop everything they’re doing. Twelve year old Sakura knew this. Two, Sasuke’s obsession with killing Naruto and doing this all alone makes no sense at all. It’s directly opposite what Itachi told him, and also Itachi’s issue was never letting Sasuke live. That didn’t cause him to fail in any way at all, so why does Sasuke fixate on changing that one point to make sure he has no one left?
The answer, because Kishimoto needed to bullshit something out.
477:
Sasuke can Amaterasu with the Rinne-Sharingan.
You can see how much the animators ran out of steam because they start using the exact same tricks they already pulled with Kakashi v Obito, like interposing the child selves with the present ones.
The OP ninjutsu fight is... aggressively OK, the taijutsu afterwards is the best part of the fight, the powerless whacking on each other is very dull and overdrawn.
Kurama goes to sleep if he gives away all his chakra.
The ghosts hands forming the Rasengan was just pretentious. It doesn’t thematically make sense either, btw.
478:
I forgot where the unison sign comes from and I still don’t buy into it as some big symbolic thing.
Trying to add these deep emotions to a couple eight year olds sparring at school is not working.
Sasuke parallels both of them being ostracized.
Sasuke thinks Sakura and Kakashi would figure out how to shut down Infinite Tsukuyomi even if these two died. I wish they had.
The near death experience is trippy, redundant and dull.
Sasuke says that everyone else turned their backs on him and cut their connection at some point. I don’t remember Juugo doing that. All of Team Taka came out to the war to help Sasuke. Even Sakura was still deeply invested in her bond with him. Naruto is just the one with magic powers to fight him as an equal.
As a kid, Sasuke felt upset at watching Naruto get scolded.
Still the pain obsession...
Sasuke was jealous of Naruto’s.... I’m not clear what. You would think it would be his ability to form bonds, but he connects Naruto to Itachi, which doesn’t really make sense. At most, you could say that it’s their broader view, rather than focusing on personal stuff, but that is not really at all the case, since Naruto chased him due to personal reasons. Like many things in this longass ending, it doesn’t make sense.
They use the exact same montage about how great Naruto is as with Obito. Not only is it redundant, it doesn’t even make sense here, since it’s all about becoming Hokage. What does not having shortcuts have to do with Sasuke?
“Punching a sulking friend to make him snap out of it” WOW
Why would Sasuke dying stop Indra’s cycle....
479:
We get another “here is Team 7″ moment, even though Sakura and Kakashi were clearly and repeatedly shown to be irrelevant in Sasuke’s journey.
I seriously need to look up why B is alive.
Kakashi becoming Hokage is still dumb on multiple levels. But also, when was he “acknowledged by everyone?” He’s a good jounin, but we have no indication he’s that standout. Also, Tsunade was made a candidate and received at least some of the support due to her bloodline, so was she really acknowledged by everyone?
They put Sasuke in a straightjacket and a blindfold. OK
Kakashi keeps covering one eye for no reason.
Naruto is made jounin directly... after some studying. What is he studying tho??
Supposedly, Sasuke should be in prison. OK, but why? Gaara killed multiple comrades and caused all kinds of shit, but he just kept going as normal. There’s ZERO mention of Orochimaru. Is he in prison?
Sakura is growing her hair out again? Wow.
I’m sorry for every doubting everyone’s outrage. This ending is in fact That Bad.

Broken Promise (2/3)
So If anybody ask it take place 3 years later when they are 16 years old.
.........................................................................................................
It was almost midnight when Hokage reached the last pile of pages on his desk. He reached for the first document and read it.
"Again, a request to move from IT?" asked Shikamaru putting the previous paper back into the binder. "We have already try it,  Ibiki will not accept it ..."
"This time she applied for being leader to team of genins," Naruto replied.
"She is too young ... It has not been half a year since she was promoted to ionin," Nara said, reaching for the paper to throw it into the shredder. However, seeing the face of Naruto he could not stop the sigh.
"Do you want to agree?" He asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“We lack tutors for this year's graduates and I don't know if keeping Sarada in TI is a good idea. I know Ibiki is delighted that he is raising the department's results, but thinking about recent events ... I think a change of assignment would do good for her.
“I don’t think it is a good idea”
“ I have an idea for a team for her."
Shikamaru just sighed in response
............................................... Boruto could not stop his enthusiasm seeing the green forests of the land of fire, although there was still a long way to the leaf village, he was slowly beginning to feel at home.
"Don't put your guard down" his master rebuked him. Despite the fact that their journey was coming to an end, they still had one thing to do. Sasuke led them to the hideout of Orochimaru. Their last finding could be something that Mitsuki’s father knows about. At least that's what Uchiha said. Young Uzumaki felt a shiver as he entered the dark cavern. He always felt uncomfortable in the presence of Sanin...
However, the biggest shock he experienced seeing his friend talking to his older brother (older version?) wearing a sound band on his forehead, not leaf.
Mitsuki smiled and waved him in greeting.
"Wh-what are you doing here?" The blond asked.
"I work," the golden-eye replied calmly, "I became a diplomatic link between Oto and Konoha.”
“What why?”
“After your departure, I found that staying in the village does not make sense, and there are still many things I want to learn from my parent.
“What about Sarada?”
“Um ... Sarada was not happy. She thinks I should get back to the leaf before Orochimaru pull me apart, but she claims I'm strong enough to defend myself, so she tell me to do whatever I want ...”
"Your daughter is as bold as you are, and she has some weird prejudices against me, just like her mother" the melodious and terrifying voice of Otokagure's leader appeared in the corridor.
Boruto felt goose bumps. His master remained unmoved by this comment.
"We need to talk about your research" Uchiha replied, heading down the corridor without waiting for the host.
"As always impatient" sannin sighed, following him.
Uzumaki remained with his friend.
"So you're not coming back to Leaf?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"I think I will have to come back, my love isn’t happy about me living here..." replied the white-haired man.
“Your love !?”
“Uh? Oh right you don't know. I'm in a relationship with Chocho”
Boruto thought for a moment that he had overheard.
“But how?”
“It is obvious, she always had a soft spot for me, after all she is a very inspiring person. I honestly wonder if she would be a better sun than you ...
At first he didn't know if he should feel offended, but he was too much in shock.
"And now you have to call her your love?" He asked leaning on a nearby table.
“Hn. Usually, unless we copulate then we have a different nickname.”
“Whaaat!?” he shouted.
“I'm sure there were sex education classes in the academy ... I have to explain to you how ...”
“No ... let's just change the subject ...” sighed young Uzumaki ”What's in Konoha?
“As for the village itself, not much has changed, but when it comes to the work of shinobi it has become much more work to do. Everyone is afraid of Kara ...- Mitsuki replied seriously.
“Oh ... What about our group?”
“Wasabi, Namida and Denki resigned from active service, the Sumire is still working with Katasuke, Metal joined his father's team, and Iwabe joined the police. Shikadai is training to be adviser, and Inojin is trying to get to ANBU. In addition, they still cooperate as a team 10. My love is currently training in the duties of the future head of the clan. Sarada ... I don't really know what he is doing now, she is often changing departments ...
"Does that mean?", The blond was surprised.
“ She worked in the police for over a year, then they transferred her to T&I, then she got a few ANBU missions ... Hn ... What else ... Himawari went to the academy and even if she started a year later, she made up a lot so she will finish school with the current year.
"Oh," blond said, surprised.
“Kawaki also became a genin, he even took part in the last chunin exam...
The further conversation was interrupted by the return of Orochimaru and Sasuke.
................................................... He was walking down a long dark corridor. He didn't know where he was or how he got there. All he was sure of was that he had to go on. He felt strong anxiety, he knew he must hurry. Suddenly he heard a loud scream, painful, feminine, familiar. He hurried forward, stumbling over stones in his path. Finally, he reached the huge hall, which was better illuminated than the corridor, though he couldn't really locate any light source in it. In the middle of the room lay debris, on which lay the body of a twelve-year-old girl. He felt his heart skip a beat. Coming closer, he felt his knees soften. Black short hair, Uchiha crest embroidered on her back... He knelt down beside her gently touching her hand. It was cold. He tried to find her pulse but he can’t, then carefully turned her over backwards. Her body was terribly stiff, her limbs bent at strange angles, her skin was pale even cyanic. Her face was covered with freshly coagulated blood coming out of her empty eye sockets. He feel as if someone had crushed his soul. If he was able to think rationally, he would probably realize that 3 years have passed and it is impossible for Sarada to look exactly as he remembered her. However, the growing panic and guilt were too powerful. He shouldn't have left the village, he promised to be her right hand ... And he left her for ... He awoke with a sharp movement, almost tearing his sleeping bag. Tears streamed from his eyes. He couldn't catch his breath for a long time. It took him some time to figure out where he was.
"Nightmare?" He heard his master's voice. Sasuke, sat on the other side of the dying bonfire and looked at him surprised.
In response he made an indefinable sound. It was supposed to be a confirmation, but his larynx suddenly feel tight.
"About what?" The black-haired man asked him. He could not determine whether he asked him out of courtesy or curiosity, or other motives known only to Uchiha. However, it made him feel even more guilty. It was about his daughter. While training him, Sasuke could not be in the village, if during this time something happened to Sarada ... He took a deep breath. He can't think like that.
"I'm not sure ..." he replied after a long moment. Apparently this answer was enough for the owner of Sharingan because he only summed it up with a short 'Hn'.
“Go to sleep, we should reach Konoha this week” for a moment he felt like arguing that he should now be on guard, but after 3 years of travel he knew that the discussion did not make the slightest sense ... He lay down again, trying to sleep.
...................................................... She was sitting on a small stone looking at the team of genins assigned to her. Some part of her still didn't believe it was happening. She should feel proud that Hokage trusted her enough to make her sensei of the new shinobi team, but the sight of Himawari shocked her. Looking at the other two boys, she tried to understand the purpose of creating this team. But maybe it was just too early to jump to conclusions ...
"Oh, Sarada-neesan!" Shouted the young Uzumaki, grinning exacly like ... Uh... Him.
Shoving away memories, she nodded at the dark haired girl in greeting.
“Since everyone is here and I assume that you are listening to me ...- she started looking at the brown-haired boy struggling with the black-gray haired puppy. “My name is Sarada Uchiha and I will be your teacher and leader of our newly formed team 3 ...”
It was quite ironic, the same number originally have their team of genins.
"Aren't you too young for Jounin?" boy replied ignoring the fact that his dog was chewing on his sleeve.
"Yes, I guess..." she said massaging her temple, she needed coffee.
The boy was clearly touched by her answer, but before he could protest, she continued.
"Because this is our first meeting, introduce yourself, say what you like and don't like, what made you choose such an absurd career path ..." she looked at the last member of the team. The blond hair boy shuddered at her words. However, he said nothing, sat curled up on the edge of the bough, clearly too stressed to even look at her.
“I am Hana Izunka!” replied brown hair.
"Hana is not a girl's name?" Blond asked quietly and uncertainly.
"It's a very masculine name!" The dog owner yelled.
"Isn't it that you got your name after your aunt?" Himawari asked, making the boy blushing.
“She is the greatest vet in the whole clan, millions of our dogs owe her life!”
"Well, let's get back to the topic" Sarada stoped them. It takes Hana a moment before he realized what she meant.
“Uh ... My goal is to become the greatest dog trainer in clan history and be more popular than Uncle Kiba ... I don't like when Kaminari bites my shoes ... And I like ...- he said and looked her straight in the eye and with flirtatious smile he replied “you ~”
Not that shit again she thought.
"The next person ..." she said, the boy was clearly not pleased by her lack of reaction.
“I'm Himawari Uzumaki. I like cooking and running, I don't like sour food. I want to become a shinobi to defend the people I love.”
Sarada looked at her blue-eyed for a moment, she was two years older than her colleagues, as well as only two years younger than her. Despite the fact that she start her study at the academy at the age of 1o, there was no doubt that the training she had at Hyuug's estate made her the strongest genin in the group.
Moments later she looked at the blond-haired boy who stubbornly stared at the ground.
-N-my name is ...-he began quietly-Horo Manta ...
Then there was silence. Young Uzumaki somehow tried to encourage him to finish the speech, but it did not work.
Sarada looked at them disappointed.
“ So ... I shouldn't have favourites, but ... Himawari seems to be the most competent member of this group.
"What that supposed to mean?!", She heard Izunki scream.
"Don't you think it's fairer when I'm honest with you, than when you have to wonder why it is that one of you is treated better? Either way, I accept complaints in writing on Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:15, not counting the days when I’m on the mission ... Your final exam was made by Rokudaime, right?
Whole group nodded.
“Fine It means that the most cliché test in the history of the village is behind you ... As part of the continuing learning of cooperation, you have an hour and a half for yourself” she replied turning from them and walking towards the nearest tree.
................................................................
She sat on a branch watching a group of genins, after about 10 minutes Hana offered a sparring.
Which unfortunately quickly turned into a fight between two male teammates. Himawari tried to stop them verbally (for now) but without success. Izunka undoubtedly had a talent for taijutsu, he also performed basic ninjutsu correctly. However, his movements were aggressive and chaotic. In addition, not coordinated at all with the attacks of his dog companion. Hiashi, however, was doing surprisingly well, he was able to parry every blow of the opponent, but the attacks he carried out were not very effective. She pulled his port folio from academy. A boy from a civilian family, he had good marks in theoretical subjects and individual combat, but when it came to team work he wasn’t doing well. Probably because of his communication problems ... She felt a familiar chakra, moments later a black-haired boy sat next to her on a branch, holding two cups of coffee.
"Well, well ..." he started sneering, "I didn't think you were so bad at ninjutsu that you had to copy your genins movements ..."
She frowned, taking off her sunglasses and showing him her red irises.
"I don't copy, just observe" she said, deactivating her kekkei genkai.
"They really assigned you a team," he said, changing his tone from mocking to serious.
"Yes" she replied, looking at the three younger teenagers.
"They are not a well-coordinated..." He shook his head and handed her a large cup of coffee.
She laughed.
“You didn't see the beginnings of the team seven... It's really fun, we were originally assigned as number 3 exactly the same as them ...”
"Are you sure you can do it?" He said much more quietly.
She didn't answer. But something inside her told her that there was no other way. She can't fail.
"Sarada," she heard his voice, but still couldn't gather to look at him. "Sarada, it wasn't your fault."
Of course he had to mention it. He could not pass over this fact, just like all her other friends.
“You couldn't predict ...”
“Kawaki” she interrupted him for the first time looking into his eyes ”He took his own life because of what I showed him at the interrogation, he was not able to distinguish reality from illusion, it is my fault.”
The boy with the mohawk stared at her for a moment.
"It's not like he didn't deserve it" he replied.
Black-haired girl sat in silence for a long time, watching genins scuffles.
“Does that make what I did any less bad? He also had his family, he was also human. It wasn't my role to decide what punishment awaited him ...”
“ You think about it too much. If you think about every person you killed, you will eventually go crazy”
"During such an interrogation," she began, taking a cup of coffee into her mouth, "I can't do it like Inojin ... Jutsu of the Yamanaka clan allows them to find exactly what they are looking for. I have to break through everything that is in this brain, for this I have to use genjutsu. It is like comparing opening a door with a key and to breaking through it with a hammer ... At the same time you learn too many things about also about his personal life ”
She took a sip of coffee.
Kawaki sighed continuing this topic probably won't do anything.
"How's the coffee?" He asked, changing the subject. “Good It is exactly what I needed, ”she said, closing her eyes and enjoying the taste of the drink.
“Cho-cho says you are addicted”
“This is true love” she thought for a moment when coffee became the basis of her diet, probably somewhere in the first month of work in the police.
“You break the hearts of half the male population of Konocha, and you still claim that they were beat by drink from abroad?
"You shouldn't say things like that the sexiest shinobi of the year ..." she laughed, remembering an article from Cho-cho’s favourite magazine.
The boy grimaced with irritation.
"You should be the last person to remind me it" he grunted.
"Why?"
“You realize that they also did a ranking of girls...?”
Black-haired girl looked at him in shock, feeling that she was going pale.
“Please don't tell me ...”
“Yep”
There was silence again.
"So ... If we were dating we would create the sexiest pair in Konoha?", She said couldn’t control laughter.
“I guess ... “
“Hn. What a shame that you are already tasken”she sighed
"I'm not ..." Kawaki replied after a moment of silence. She looked at him. The boy was clearly embarrassed.
"Right" she said, again looking at the group of genins.
At this point, the kunai held by the blonde broke, which helps Hana but instead of him, the fight was ended by Himawari, who knockout both of them with one attack.
The eyes of the boy sitting next to her also focused on the purple-haired girl.
“She is my sister”
“Actually she isn’t” she said, looking as the girl grabs her teammates by the shirts and pulls them toward the tree.
Kawaki made an unspecified sound.
“Hokage is like a father to me. He is the only real father I had ... My duty is to take care of Himawari”
"You haven't behaved like a sibling since she went to the academy ... You're so obvious that even I noticed it."
"I don't think this is what serious training should look like, don't you think?" Young Uzumaki interrupted them. The girl was standing under the tree, her friends were lying next to both sides of her legs. She was looking at the two sitting on the branch, clearly not satisfied with the short distance between them, her byakuganwas still active.
"Definitely not," Jounin replied, "I think you'll need some individual training to balance this group a bit ..."
The purple-haired girl looked at her, raising one eyebrow, her eyes returned to her natural blue colour.
"I would like to work a little with Hana and Horo ... Till end of this week, but Kawaki agreed that he will train with you until then," she finished.
"Really?" Himawari asked smiling brightly.
The boy sighed, in recent weeks he tried not to spend too much time with his "sister" because of their complicated situation.
However, he couldn't refuse her when she looked at him like that.
"Of course," he said, hopping off the branch, "I just have change into something better to fight, we'll meet in square 16 in fifteen minutes, ok?"
“Okay” she replied smiling. All he could do was sigh. The situation was getting worse. Apart from the fact that the girl never treated him like a brother, if you believe the heir of the Akimichi family, Himawari has been in love with him for a very long time. His feelings were new and still undefined, and the last thing he wanted was to hurt her. Not to mention how his father and brother would react ...
He looked at the black-haired girl who was still sitting on the tree.
"You're too obvious" she said, sipping her coffee.
"Speaking of the obvious ... Boruto returns to the village this week" he replied, looking at her. The girl, hearing this, choked on a caffeine drink. "I think you will need some time to prepare."
Before she could answer him, the boy also disappeared, leaving her with two unconscious students. She jumped down and pulled a simple pendant from behind her shirt. She looked at the slightly rusty screw-shaped pendant. Two years ago, in anger she threw it out of the window just to look for its in the garden three days later. When her friend left the village she was broken, she was not able to deal with her emotions. However, she thought that she is over it. So why the information about his return to the village make her feel this way again why she was never able to get rid of this jewellery?
She heard the rustle of grass.
Hana regained consciousness, but still not fully.
"I won?" He asked looking at the puppy who was pissing on his sole.
"You both lost," she replied.
"How is this?" The boy woke up, pushing his leg away from Kaminari with disgust.
"You should train your partner better," she sighed.
"He doesn't want to listen to me" the boy snapped.
"I was speaking to the dog ..." she replied, and the boy turned red with anger.
“Training on Thursday at 13 here ... Practice your basic clan techniques until then.”
For some reason, the second part of the sentence made boy smile.
"I knew you were playing inaccessible!" He exclaimed and ran towards the city, moments later his dog rushed after him. She looked at the dust behind them for a moment. This day was getting worse by the minute. She sighed and looked ma blond who also regained consciousness. The boy sat on the grass staring at some of the broken kunai that remained in his hand. The tool looked heavily worn before it was broken.
She came up to him and crouched beside him.
“Can you tell me why you decided to be a shinobi?”
Horo was silent for a long moment.
"My family needs money," he said so silent that she barely heard him. In a land of fire, a civilian child had to be at least 16 years old to work legally. The profession of shinobi offered job after the end of the academy, and the salary from the missions was usually higher than civilian employees. If financial issues should be a motivation to become a ninja could have been arguable for some but there are situations when life gives us no choice.
“Do you want to be a ninja?”
"I don't know," he said even more quietly.
“But didn’t say no”
"I like it, but I'm not at same level as the rest ... I doesn't fit here," he finished for the first time looking at her.
“Your results were not bad.”
"The school results are not the same as fighting ..." he replied with a sneer.
“Hn” she smiled slightly, pulling something out of the bag “ Can you unseal the tools?”
The boy nodded, looking in shock as jounin hands him the scroll.
"I-I can't!" He started but interrupted him.
“They are neither new nor particularly valuable. Besides, it's not a gift. More investment, you need to be able to fight and protect your companions. In return, I want you to train, you can't let insecurity overcome you.”
There was silence for a while.
"Much easier said than done," Horo sighed.
"Sure," she said, "But I know you can do it, training at 9:00 tomorrow here, don’t be late.”
The boy nodded and ran towards the city. To be honest, she did not think that the assignment her genin team was a good idea, but looking at the spark of determination that appeared in his eye, she began to believe that maybe it really have sense.
.......................................................... As soon as the northern gate of the village appeared on the horizon, he could not stop his excitement. After almost 3 years, he was finally back at home. Hearing from the corner of his ear the words of his master, about the report he will go to submit to Hokage, and something that there will be no trainings for the next few days, the boy hurried towards the leaf. Moments later he stood on the tip of a high pole admiring the landscape he knew well. Everything looked exactly as he remembered, he was even able to see Thunder Burger ...
"You just came back and you are already troublesome?" He heard familiar voice.
Looking down, he saw Shikadai standing with his hands in his pockets.
"Oh, did you miss me?" Uzumaki replied hopping down to the ground next to his friend.
"It was too quiet here ..." The black-haired man smiled.
"So how about a burger and a game in the sake of olden days?" Blond offered, but Nara denied.
“I am waiting here for the team, we set off on a short mission to Suna, some diplomatic drag...”
It wasn't long before Inojin appeared. For a moment all three of them talked about everything that had happened over the last 3 years.
In the meantime, his gaze focused on the black-haired girl walking down the street. Her onyx eyes were hidden behind red glasses, her face looked familiar but more mature. She was dressed in a red cloak and long black leggings. Her waist was wrapped in a white belt that marked her slim figure. He felt dizzy and his heart start beating like crazy. Moments later Shikamaru caught him.
"Hey, what wrong?" He heard his voice.
"You get red as if you ate a japaleño burger ..." Inojin sighed.
Uzumaki himself was too confused to answer them. For the first time in his life he was dealing with such a situation.
“Oi! What's going on?” Chõ-Chõ joined their group “Boruto you are back?”
The girl watched him with a strange expression.
"What?" He finally asked.
"Nothing, No I now understand why Sarada had to go back to the office..." She replied sighing in disbelief.
However, her answer did not explain anything to him. Once again he thought about Uchiha, who apparently must not have noticed his presence, right?
........................................................................................................
Oh Kami it takes a lot more time that I thought... It is also much longer that I expected. Also I have a lot of problem with translating this chapter, so if any part have no sense then please tell me >.<
Also I was thinking about writing prequel to this, and maybe something about what happen in this time skip, idk what you think?
<previous part                                                                       next part>

Jaded, Magic, Offspring, Vice for the alphabet one ... any characters you think are tasty but I would like to request that at least one be for Zephyr for development reasons (bonus if u want to make that be magic and talk abt her feelings on dunemancy as a controlled magic)
i’ll do all four for zephyr and also roll for others bc hehehe.........
Jaded: Do they buy into the “happily ever after” ideal? What’s their standard? Zephyr: not really??? I think growing up as an urchin kind of fucked that up even if she otherwise would. like, I’m sure the ideal in the kryn dynasty is what like. tbq and her wife have, with multiple lives and loving them through every one of them. but like. A) zephyr ain’t consecuted even if she says she is and B) she loves gent but that’s honestly probably her first real relationship and she kind of already knows that won’t end with a happily ever after because. she’s gonna still be in her elf twenties when gent dies. like, zephyrs actually kinda practical about this. she’s not gonna get a happily ever after with gent! she’s kinda accepted that even if she really doesn’t Like it. (and I’m very sad about it but that’s another post, elf lifetime meta included, if you want it). that said! she doesn’t think she won’t be happy! just that she’s smart enough to know that her relationships, such as they are, Will likely end in some pain for her, especially considering all the shit that comes along with a society with consecution. PC: Legacy - like. no? it feels ... cheap to her, I think. maybe it’s just me morgan not really believing in that stuff, but like. she grew up with nice parents who like. nothing was wrong with them of course! but like. she knows better, seeing them be in love with each other and fight and etc., she knows better than to think that anything could be happily ever after. she knows you gotta work at that shit, and I think she’s still figuring out how hard she’d want to work, if that makes sense. she does have a standard, though! she does want to fall in love or at least be infatuated/have someone be infatuated with her! it’s just an experience she wants. but considering her grandmother and her abilities... she kind of doubts she’ll ever be the prince OR princess in the fairytale, you know? NPC: Kiya - hh. Kiya knows better than to think happily ever after is in the cards. she’s got a pretty good thing going with MFU, she loves her employees, and I like the thot of her having a thing for one of them? but like. I’ve said it before: kiya isn’t really a ‘gets nice things for herself’ kind of person. so her standard is ‘it doesn’t happen in the first place.’ which is a little depressing, but hey! maybe she’ll be surprised.
Magic: In a magic series or not, are they accepting, or is each instance a shock? Zephyr: zephyr is a weird one because I like the idea of her being a little disbelieving that magic like. works for her, even though she’s a level 14 wizard with very specific knowledge of the arcane. I’m thinking about sir gentry and how he’s like, 50 years old by now or something. she didn’t look up the normal lifespan of a pet mouse until he was at least like. 10/15 because she just didn’t want to find out that he was about to die, and then she was kinda like ‘huh maybe... maybe he’s a magic mouse?’ (the in game explanation is that her dunamancy (time magic) is just. extending his life bc he hangs out with her and I think it’s cute and my dm loves me). but beyond that. I think it’s really fun if like. zephyr was NOT expecting to actually get into the academy? she made this whole plan expecting to at some point be found out but at least she’d have the knowledge, and then. She Wasn’t’? and she was obviously very happy that it worked!!! and I think she’s gotten more and more respect for her craft but it at least started as her going Wow alright this shit actually works? dope. now though I think she’s come to terms with it. she’s a level 14 wizard, she’s incredibly powerful really. magic for her is an extension of herself, to the point where she does it unconsciously (at least on sir gentry). she’s so skilled with dunamancy that she can just. choose to stop someone in time, five times a day. it’s exhausting, but she can just force a timeline on someone and have them be none the wiser. she’s Powerful, yo. and a lot of that power comes from sheer comfort with the subject, I think! I like that idea. PC: Zier - zier i think is very funny for this question because he like. JUST became a sorcerer and then levelled up super quickly in the span of like three or four months. but like. fundamentally, what happened was: 1. he ran away and got kidnapped and experimented on 2. he got away Somehow 3. he did magic at a giant spider 4. he ended up in another continent. so I think for him, it was surprising at first and he very much doesn’t know shit fuck all about magic, but he’s a noble boy through and through, and thus very quickly went “yeah i’m magical that fucks majorly because I fuck majorly.” it was basically him coming to terms with this new thing very quickly because he’s a bitch who likes the power. NPC: Coriander - coriander is the epitome of “is incredibly comfortable with magic.” for her, magic is essentially an assistive technology! she has darling who is basically a second pair of arms, legs, and an extra 8 feet of height so she can keep up with their partner and children who are much taller than she is. but I think a lot of the tech she develops is assistive or transportive in some way. coriander likes exploding things, but that’s more of a hobby. her actual magic works more like tech, and she treats it like a science.
Offspring: What kind of parent would they be? Would they prefer one, or multiple? Zephyr: much to think about.............. if she had kids I think she’d like multiple! she grew up completely alone so I think she’d want any kids to have siblings. as a parent I think she’d be good! i’ve been thinking about zephyr having very much Her People, who she likes, respects, and cares about to the point of fighting for and with them, and then Not Her People, who she kind of could give less of a shit about. her kids would def be Her People. she wouldn’t know exactly how to deal with them? I think for a bit there’d be a problem because she’d be stiff. she’d like her babies/kids very much! but she doesn’t know how to hold them. she doesn’t have experience talking to them. a baby cries and she tells it that theres nothing to cry over and logic at an infant doesn’t work and she goes bug eyed sasuke. but I think she’d figure it out eventually, and she’d be especially good at kids once they get to the “express their desires and disappointments in an understandable way.” perhaps she’d raise, on her own, very expressive kids because thats the only way they would be able to tell her what’s going on. PC: Sarril - :). he doesn’t know. but I think he would have been a good dad! his wife wanted multiple and so he would have had multiple, though he would have been very happy with only one. sarril was actively learning about Contact, so lots of hugs and holding for the babies and toddlers, especially with his wife and her family next to him. he’s always been a kind of calm and quiet man, and his way of showing love isn’t very Talkative, (i’ll talk about how he loves in another ask) so he’s more the dad who is At everything and is very quietly proud of everything his kid does, but unless there’s like, a crisis, he’s not likely to make it abundantly clear that he’s an adoring father. but you’d know from just like. he’s there, he’s tucking you in every night, he helps you with your homework, etc. NPC: Iris - iris wants kids SO BAD. she’d love one, she’d love multiple. part of being a part of a really terrible population crisis that may or may not be due to demonic influence, maybe, but she also just really wants kids. and she looked at cylthia and went “yeah alright we doing this?” I think iris with kids would be adoring almost to a fault. she’d LOVE those little bitches. she might spoil them rotten, but also they’d be super loved and have friends in all of glade and lent’s kids, and I think they’d eventually be cool.
Vice: What bad habits do they have? Is there something they would be ashamed of? Zephyr: shopaholic. i think a lot of her dresses come, if not free, at least steeply discounted because maybe she’s someone’s muse or maybe she did a huge favor for a dressmaker? haven’t decided yet. but definitely a lot of her paycheck (which I imagine she does get, from freelance jobs offering her wizarding services or maybe the dynasty pays her for the small wizard jobs like lighting the streets, bringing down and putting up and keeping up the night sky over rosohna, things like that) goes to dresses and accessories. she really likes spending money, and doesn’t mind so much about having it. I don’t think she’s ashamed of it, exactly? it’s her money, she’s spending it on things she likes. but it is probably indicative of Something. PC: Kenny - has a bad habit of being beholden to a god of fire who wants him to betray his friends. nah i think he’s got a bad habit of like now, scratching/rubbing soot off of himself. shit like that, where it’s a stimmy way of trying to get the ashen wolf’s influence off of him. he’s probably ashamed of it a little? because it’s the ashen wolf? but idk if it’s even really noticeable to others so that takes away a lot of the shame of it. NPC: Ecstasy - bad habits. of. not sharing her fucking feelings! she says thats STINKY but it kind of just fucks her over. like tbf with raini it kind of works because if she ever said she was in l*ve with raini the wizard might hightail it out of there but like. i think after two years she might have gotten away with it and didn’t even try. and now she’s kind of paying the price because not only does raini not remember her but it also doesn’t like, matter, maybe, because the feelings were ALWAYS unarticulated? so? she’s now just ????????

tbh i'm always curious about the kaguya causes the apocalypse au, but rarely have concrete questions to ask. so um, what are sakura and obito's abilites like? how powerful are they, both as a team and individually? sakura canonically had healing and super strength, which are great, but I'm also a fan of aus where she branches out and learns other things, so i gotta ask. does she learn genjutsu from obito? also they survived a WHILE in the apocalypse, right, presumably they got even better (1/3)
and learned new stuff from each other? and/or from other survivors in their group? what are their go-to weapons? how does their power level now compare to people in the past? (2/3)
(3/3) ALSO! they travel to other dimensions using kamui, right. where does the kamui spit them out when they go a new dimension? somewhere randomly? (if so, how many times have they ended up dumped in a swamp, or in the middle of nowhere?) some fixed place every time? wherever obito wants? where? and can they choose when they arrive in a new dimension, or are they also just randomly spit out whenever and good luck figuring out in what time and place they are?
these are really good questions!!! i apparently wrote 1100 words in response, so: under the cut!
sakura and obito did survive a while in the apocalypse, yeah. people survived in groups–konoha especially espouses teamwork–and people took positions well-suited for them, at first, like they have been trained to do. hyuuga, inuzuka, aburame, yamanaka, and sensors were good at keeping track of people and directing the groups to safe spaces and such, for example. but people die, and at some point you stop being able to replace them
so people learn to cover those positions in any way they can. enhancing their senses with chakra; trying to recreate barrier seals that you’ve only seen and never studied; etc. people share information about what they remember. people go off and come back with clan scrolls, because there’s no point in hoarding clan information if that information will help keep them alive.
obito and sakura learn together, and what they teach other is–incidental, at first? sakura is healing someone, and she nabs a passing obito into helping her. obito can heal himself just fine, thanks to hashirama’s DNA, but–well. he has deep chakra reserves, as well as the ability to absorb and transfer chakra, so he might as well learn how to heal other people, because at some point they’re going to run short of medics, and it’s better for everyone if most people have even rudimentary medical skills
obito… okay i’m going to be entirely honest here: obito is fucking HORRIFIED at how sakura was treated as a genin. obito’s already complicated relationship with kakashi is complicated even further because he cannot BELIEVE that kakashi didn’t teach her SHIT, didn’t CULTIVATE her OBVIOUS TALENTS, didn’t direct her to anyone who WOULD. kakashi failed sakura, and obito is pissed off on her behalf, because that shouldn’t have happened!!!! obito offers sakura his knowledge Readily and Gladly because she should never, ever feel useless again. she should never, ever be given less than what he or anyone else can offer.
it had been noted in canon that sakura would have been adept at genjutsu, and he gives her techniques. they have to be adapted some, because genjutsu with a sharingan is formed differently than genjutsu without a sharingan, but sakura figures it out. she’s quick and eager to learn! and she’s GOOD at genjutsu! she learns how to conceal people and things; she learns how to subtly redirect a person’s attention so that their eyes skip over something without truly seeing it; she learns how to muddle a person’s sense of balance, of temperature, of pain.
and obito teaches her some ninjutsu, because that’s ANOTHER area where she was failed! why the FUCK did kakashi skimp out on even THIS?!!
sakura has water and earth release, so obito basically goes: okay, cool, here’s some mist techniques. here’s a few iwa techniques that i saw when i was 12 and that i picked up from deidara. you’re going to be so badass, i’m so proud of you.
sakura especially becomes more well-rounded than she was previously, and honestly kind of terrifying because she’s ENJOYING being versatile which means making use of her new techniques, but obito’s pretty happy with his end of the deal, too. his self-healing is passive rather than active, so learning how to use medical techniques and gaining medical knowledge is Actually Helpful because, hey, now he knows what the fuck is going on and now he can actually heal other people. AND now he knows how to do stuff like making blood clots! while that may not help much against kaguya, he’s not going to NOT appreciate new and interesting ways of killing people!
in terms of power, it’s hard to tell when your opponent is a Literal God, but by the time everyone else is dead and they abandon this world, they’re kind of stupidly powerful. like 12-year-old sasuke would eye them warily and challenge them to a fight in a hotel hallway because he can Tell they’re powerful, maybe more powerful than even Bane Of His Life Itachi, and he needs to see how he matches up against them. like–they don’t really escape because they’re dying; they escape because there’s nothing left for them, and staying would just mean dying meaninglessly.
weapons like shuriken, kunai, and senbon had become, increasingly, a scarcity, because making more becomes difficult and then impossible. they picked over past battlefields for weapons that they’ve thrown. not a lot of people had Many Throwing Weapons after a point
but when obito and sakura hang out in kamui, it’s not like THEY’RE going to lose weapons now, so obito pulls out some from his Long-Discarded Weapons Stash and they sort of idly brush up on their bukijutsu. is sakura likely to ever have need of a gunbei? no, but obito’s going to show her how to use it, anyway.
the mechanics of kamui in this ‘verse are like–
the sort of “neutral ground” is the space that obito is used to, the grey landscape of blocks where everything he puts inside of kamui shows up. in order to access anywhere else, kamui needs a set of parameters, conscious or subconscious.
in the beginning, the only parameters are the conscious “not our world” and the subconscious “please be empty,” so the destinations were random and without people. an empty forest; an abandoned cabin; a peopleless island.
obito isn’t USED to making use of this aspect of kamui, so at first, aiming for particular places and times would be difficult. he’d overshoot or undershoot, or get there at the right time but not the right place. but he’d get more precise about it and learn what sorts of parameters work best with what he has in mind (ex. events can come quicker or be delayed or happen somewhere else, depending on the circumstances! some events are sort of fixed in time and place–october 10 in konoha for the kyuubi attack, for example–whereas others shift–like who kumo takes to make a jinchuuriki). if he isn’t clear on a specific variable, what comes out will be random–like if sakura was like “i miss hashirama trees. can we go check that out” and obito’s parameters were just 'hashirama trees around konoha’, they could drop ANYWHERE in that particular forest and at any time where those trees exist
obito and sakura kind of–tend toward peaceful times and places, at first. they gather themselves up and put themselves back together as much as they can. they’re tired.
but then one day sakura makes a comment, like i wish i’d known you sooner, and obito thinks: but you could.
not this sakura, of course, but another one. a different one.
they find an obito crushed under rock, still alive, and obito can use his mangekyo to take him into kamui, and sakura can heal him from there–at least enough to keep him from dying, at least enough to take him to konoha.
being able to help–that goes a long way, after such a long period of helplessness and hopelessness, and when they think about it, there are so many things that they could help prevent, so many lives they can save with the information that they have now.
so they basically become S-class dimension-hopping superheroes just because

Crumbles’ Big Dump of Upcoming Fics
Happy New Year, everybody! I certainly hope that so far things are going well for you all. I had been meaning to make this post a while back but things got kinda… delayed. Between a lot of really painful personal tragedies – including the death of my dad – and a stressful schedule with work and school, I’ve been a little all over the place. 2017 has been, by far, the cruelest and loneliest year of my life. My dad’s death has shattered me in a lot of different ways, but it had a huge impact on my ability to write, which crippled my usual coping mechanism. He was always really invested in the original stories that I work on as well and was also so supportive of my works. It made writing – something that I have always relied on as a stress relief and outlet for my negative emotions – painful and challenging and it, in turn, made me bitter and resentful at myself and at him. I’ll make another post about where I’ve been in my own mind fully just to get it all out eventually, but for now I just want to offer up an abridged version.
Most days I didn’t – and, honestly, there are still days where I don’t – feel like myself at all. But I feel that, at this point, not writing would be a disservice to his memory.
In the last few weeks I’ve felt a bit more clarity and I’ve been able to find my voice again. I don’t want to stop writing and I have no intention of doing it. In fact, my imagination has kinda jump-started back to near-normal capacity and I have a lot of ideas I’m really excited to share. This post is about the ideas I have in mind and when I intend to upload what. I want to put myself on a schedule because I feel like setting goals for myself will be a good way to get me back in the swing of things.
In preparation for this, I’ve actually gone ahead and made myself an AO3 account – which can be found [here] - because the ideas under the “Read More” are all going to be multi-chapter projects. I’ll still make posts here on tumblr when any updates go live (and should have schedules for when each fic will be updated), I just don’t want to post full chapters here, since I tend to write long chapters. I am also adding the disclaimer here that one-shots (with some exceptions)/ requests/ and other things of that ilk will not be listed here because those have no real schedule in mind.
Ships to Expect: SasuSaku (Naruto), SoMa (Soul Eater), Hance (Voltron), and a whole mess of Kidge (Voltron) because I have no control.
The Shrink Treatment 3: Voltron (Kidge): I am almost done with this one and, surprise to no one, there’ll be one more part after that to just wrap it all up. Regardless, though, I should be able to finish this short series up before the end of the month! Release Date: January 11th/12th, 2018 Update Schedule: Once (Part 4 will hopefully be done within two weeks from whichever day I upload Part 3)
Request 5: Voltron (Kidge): Leaving this vague, because I still want it to be a surprise, but the final of a list of requests I received a few months ago! This, much like The Shrink Treatment, ended up getting away from me. I relaly loved the idea and it’s taking me a while to get it finished. Release Date: February 14th, 2018 Update Schedule: Once (Valentine’s Special)
Like Treading Water: Voltron (Kidge): Love isn’t exactly an emotion that is easy to explain or acknowledge if you aren’t actively looking for it. Little nuances will stick out as something irregular and strange, but can be easily shrugged off when a mind applies logic or sound reasoning to it. You can blind yourself to something that is so obvious to those around you simply by virtue of coming up with other explanations. This is a chronology of how each Paladin realized that Keith Kogane and Pidge Gunderson were falling for each other; including the two Paladins themselves. Note: I started working on this back in October of 2015, shortly after I watched the first season and became Voltron trash. As such, I’m currently having to re-read what I’ve written so far to assure that it falls in line with the canon of the series thus far. Release Date: February 14th, 2018 Update Schedule: Once (Valentine’s Special)
Keidge Month: Not a multi-chapter story, but I just want to say I have every intention of participating in Keidge Month in March; in fact, I’ve already started to work on some of my prompt fills. I’ll post all my prompt fills to both here and AO3, just so that people can choose to read it on whichever outlet is more comfortable for them. It’s my number one ship and it happens to take place during my birthday month, so what kind of smuck would I be to not participate? ;3c Release Date: March 1st, 2018 Update Schedule: Daily (Month Long Event)
Cherry Bomb: Naruto (SasuSaku) – After an accident in the facility that she is interning at, Sakura Haruno gains super strength and an accelerated healing element. With the help of her role model, Dr. Tsunade Senju, she learns how to control and harness this power to help protect the denizens of the city. She is thrust into stopping a plot by other humans with genetic mutations to take control of the city using intimidation and force while also trying to keep her secret identity hidden from her photo-journalist boyfriend, Sasuke Uchiha. Note: I’ve been planning this project for roughly three – Hell, almost four – years now. This is going to be my final Naruto project – excluding any requests I get – and I want it to be something really special and significant to not just anyone who reads it, but also to my own growth as a writer. Naruto has been one of the longest fandoms I’ve been in and SasuSaku was one of my first really big ships; I want this to be a final love letter worth my time to write and worth everyone’s time to read. Release Date: March 2nd, 2018 Update Schedule: Bi-Weekly
Kidge Week: Again, not a multi-chapter thing but I really needed to say I have every intention of participating in this as well! My goal is to finish as many of my prompt fills for Keidge month before the prompts for Kidge Week drop in February as possible so that I can start working on that ASAP. Release Date: April 15th, 2018 Update Schedule: Daily (Week Long Event)
Hance Month: What do you know, I had way more things to list as non-multi-chapter fics for the first half of the year than I thought! Another extended event I have every intention of participating in because I really want to produce more content for Hance. It’s really such an great, under-rated ship that deserves more love! Release Date: May 1st, 2018 Update Schedule: Daily (Month Long Event)
Lance McClain vs. The World: After getting involved with a charming young engineering student named Hunk Garrett after meeting at a bar, Lance McClain finds himself getting dragged into a series of events that seem to be ripped right out of a comic book. He is given a warning from the leader of something called “Team Voltron”; a group of Hunk’s ex-lovers and close personal friends, dedicated to determining the worthiness of Hunk’s suitors through various competitive means. Never one to back down from a challenge, Lance agrees to the terms and is forced to learn various new skills and talents in order to compete with the roster of powerful opponents he faces. Note: The fact that there aren’t more Scott Pilgrim AUs in any of the fandoms I like is really disappointing, so I decided that I’d fix that problem myself. While I’ll be following the basic formula set up by the source material, I intend to take a very different approach and keep it fresh with some ideas of my own. So if you’ve actually seen Scott Pilgrim? This’ll be of a different flavor, so don’t assume you know what I have up my sleeve. ;3 Release Date: May 10th, 2018 Update Schedule: Weekly or Bi-Weekly.
Bodyguard AU (Title TBD): Voltron (Kidge): After publically calling out the shady business practices of Galra Tech, acclaimed actor Keith Kogane finds himself the subject of both an attempted assassination and threat of blackmail. Undeterred, he feels no fear at the prospect of making an enemy of the powerful conglomerate. Worried about his safety, both physically and his privacy being violated, his agent, Allura LeAltea, calls upon the help of an old charm school friend of hers. Enter Katie Holt; renowned tech prodigy and secret hacker known as Pidge Gunderson, hired on to be Keith’s personal bodyguard. The only catch? The two must pretend to be dating to assure that Katie can tag along with him wherever he goes without cueing Galra Tech into knowing their threats have had an effect. Note: I love Bodyguard AUs. I love Fake Dating AUs. I love deviating from the expectation. On top of that, an amazing Bodyguard AU one-shot has already been written by the talented Camphalfgalra on AO3, in which Keith is the bodyguard and Pidge is his client, so I decided to flip the roles for my own version of the trope. Release Date: June 15th, 2018 Update Schedule: Weekly or Bi-Weekly
Twilight: Voltron (Kidge): One night, Matthew Holt disappeared from his room without a trace. In the time that he’d been gone, his younger sister, Katie Holt, has been frantically pushing for more action to be taken in bringing her brother home; believing he has been whisked away to the deadly mystery of the forest around their small village of Kerberos. With her brother missing, her mother’s health rocky in her grief, and her father away to help a neighboring village with a fast-spreading illness, she is struggling to maintain not only all effort to bring her brother home alive, but also keep the family farm up to its normal functionality. The Head of the Village Guard, Thace Kogane, insists that she accept the help of his two children, Keith and Allura, to assist her with the farm. Initially cold and distant, Katie slowly warms up to the duo and finds that they may be able to offer her more help in finding her brother, as well as unraveling the mysteries of the dark forest just outside the fences of their small village. Note: I basically just threw the Voltron cast into the universe of one of my own stories – The Tragedy of Helena and Jeremiah – and went with it. Pidge is a pseudo-replacement for Helena and Keith is a pseudo-replacement for Jeremiah, though they have drastically different personalities from my own characters, and as such the story goes in a much different direction. I also borrowed some elements from another project of mine - Sweet Tooth - which The Tragedy of Helena and Jeremiah is a prequel to. Release Date: August 17th, 2018 Update Schedule: Bi-Weekly or Monthly
SingleParent!AU (Title TBD): Soul Eater (SoMa): Soul Evans has been struggling with life as a single father for roughly three years now; working two jobs and odd hours to support himself and his precious daughter, Harmony. Upon the announcement of his older brother, Wes, getting married, he is begged to return home to help with preparing for the ceremony and to be his brother’s Best Man. Feeling that he’ll have better opportunities with his family’s support and more time to spend with Harmony, Soul agrees to moving back to Death City. Through fate and circumstance, Soul meets Maka Albarn, the writer of his daughter’s favorite series of children’s books and intended Maid of Honor to Liz Thompson, Wes’ fiancée, and the two get along pretty well. And, perhaps from there, more will develop between them. Note: Bodyguard, Fake Dating, and Single Parent AUs are my fucking weakness. On top of that, I really want to write something that kinda messes with the typical tropes of Single Parent AUs that I’ve read. Hopefully it’ll be a fun ride for everyone! Release Date: September 28st, 2018 Update Schedule: Bi-Weekly
