Spoilers for DLC below.
Thinking about how the story recontextualizes the Omen twins
Like, the base games canon does not offer any insight into Morgott and Mohg’s relationship. The only thing we KNOW for certain is that they are twins. That is it. Everything else about their relationship is Fanon.
But it is largely interpreted that the brothers had a falling out around the time of the Shattering War OR when Mohg began contact with the Formless Mother.
With the context of Miquella’s plans regarding Mohg, I still believe Mohg and Morgott would have differed in their views. Morgott would be an Order adherent and Mohg would reject the Order. These differences could have lead to their estrangement.
But it’s also possible Miquella’s charm contributed to their falling out. With Mohg acting more extreme and single-minded in his goal for a Dynasty. With Mohg being completely unreachable by anyone that cared about him (as evidence by Ansbach if nothing else).
Morgott was isolated by his zealotry. His traumas and his choices. But Mohg was ripped away from any chance of ‘normalcy’ and dignity. Morgott was obviously affected by being rejected and unloved. Mohg was just ensnared by another being that warped his ability to LOVE AND BE LOVED.
Perhaps it’s still speculation how much Miquella’s charm influenced the Dynasty. Ansbach- as one of Mohg’s inner circle- may be more generous in his assessment of pre-Miq Mohg than is accurate. But it’s clear his behavior was fundamentally altered to some degree of madness.

well ... finished the dlc 😭👍 ( spoiler thoughts below )
for the most part, I really liked it. it was a challenge though, the bosses definitely do not give you time to breathe like the base game ones do to the point where some of them ( especially the last boss ) made me miss malenia lmao
what i liked:
the new frenzy lore! absolutely loved that whole section of the map, the fact that it was so contaminated by the frenzy that literally everything was filled with madness. the lantern dudes were freaky, and midra was an amazing boss. i struggled with him, but it was fun. my kind of body horror, and the new information about the frenzy really helps solidify a lot of things for vyke here.
the dragon lore, obviously. that also made me look at the base game dragons a bit more deeper and how the communion and the cult are similar to the point where they were one at one point. wish there was more to it, especially when it comes ancient dragons and their mortal "acquaintances" for reasons ghsjdghjk
messmer was really good, knew i'd love him though and helped understand a lot of what was going on with marika.
THE DEATH KNIGHTS i'm obsessed with them. i'm so so into them and want to know more like: how'd they get to the shadowlands, how did they know about godwyn and his many surrogates throughout were there ( also how did godwyn's piece of him get down there, does that mean the erdtree roots even hit that place? i mean i guess it would because it was once with the lands between ... .. ) are they told? do they have a connection to godwyn due to be his personal guard? ?? ??? ? who is their stylist bc they have the best looking armor in the game bar none
we keep burning trees. tarnished is the lord of climate change
Tumblr media
what i didn't like: ( ish )
i'm not too sure about that ending. the new miquella lore is ... well ... it's something. and with radahn / mohg's body with radahn's spirit? or some shit. it wasn't what i expected, but i think i need to look at more things or have someone explain it to me bc rn i'm just going "why does grrm like incest so much that it must be in everything he writes, inquiring minds need to know"
no godwyn. granted he was never really built up to return, but no godwyn. it would've been cool :/ he was the only person out of all the others people were thinking were going to show up that i really wanted to see.
commander gaius and his pig can burn in the seven layers of hell and it still wouldn't be enough to sate my hatred for that man >:/

Do you have other headcanon for elden ring characters?
I would love to hear some👉👈
well I do have some for basic stuff like ages, height, sexualities, etc. (Mainly for when I open up the askblog) B u t
A Majority of Everyone is kinda touched starved since there's so much stressful shit going on in the lands between. Mainly Melina and Varre. Melina all because of the scene where she literally burnt herself alive and was OBVIOUSLY gonna give us one last touch before she hesitated, and Varre since he dedicated himself so much to Mohg that the touch of a different person really do be hitting different.
Ranni is probably Alot more stronger than what she looks like. She really said "fuck you" to God, Kills her own two fingers, ploted everything to go down and hides it all behind such a calm demiter. But personality-wise She is Really caring to her loved ones and will clearly show her affection.
Seluvis does live with so much possible regret in his life, but buried it so far deep and became lost in his madness. Yet he still yearns for the old days.

i remember seeing mohg fan get mad at people saying messmer has the worst mommy issues of any of the demigods cause obviously their poor precious mohg, (and morgott) had it worst and i just gotta laugh cause messmer is canonically the only one with mommy issues, the mommy issues of every other character is either headcannon, extrapolation of limited evidence or fans just going 'if i was in their situation i would have mommy issues.

Frenzied Flame may be the Formless Mother
A twitter mutual brought to my attention a few interesting connections that got me thinking about this possibility, namely the Mother also being associated with flame (red bloodflame and yellow frenzy flame) as well as Mohgwyn’s sacred spear, said to be an instrument of communion with her, being a 3 pronged trident, almost as if in the image of the three fingers.
The strongest evidence to me, however, lies in the description of where Mohg encountered her- deep underground. And we know he was stuck in the subterranean shunning grounds when he was young. We find the Frenzied Flame Proscription in the deepest part of the shunning grounds, guarded by an illusion of Mohg, which his brother also clearly knew about, since if you try and go there before killing him, you reach a seal saying “sealed by Morgott the grace-given”. So it seems very likely to me that it is describing the same place.
I believe the reason Mohg did not take up the Flame of Frenzy at this point is because it did not exist yet. He encountered the unaltered Formless Mother through the three fingers. (I’d be curious to see if his body is burned, but we can’t tell with all the layers of clothes he wears).
Varre makes a comment about how he suspects the Two Fingers "were corrupted” due to the Shattering, but perhaps that’s what happened to the Three Fingers. Though it seems their corruption has its origins in the merchant caravan imprisoned there instead of the Shattering itself. They may have altered the outer god known as the Formless Mother and she became the Frenzy Flame god as a result. Mohg met her before all this happened, so he still follows worship of her in her original form instead of Frenzy Flame, and did not get affected by it.
The fingerprint stone shield says it is part of a tomb of an ancient god, but it almost speaks as if frenzy flame came into existence after the god.:
Part of the tomb of an ancient god, the Readerless Fingers relayed their message through these imprints, said to be the very seeds from which frenzy first sprouted.
This post about Trina’s crystal ball also brought to my attention that interestingly enough, Frenzy Flame is associated with Red Eyes. It’s unused so obviously things changed, but it still seems like it could have been making a deliberate connection between it and the Formless Mother (given how your eyes turn red after the bloody finger procedure)
Its also interesting that something associated with Miquella was used to quiet the flames of frenzy, like the needle in the final game. (The needle does not remove red eyes though, but it also doesn’t remove the burns so it could be a permanent physical alternation like that rather than a sign of the Mother’s present influence.) And maybe that’s significant given how Mohg is presumably altering his transformation with the blood he gives his cocoon, which likely means her influence is involved. Perhaps its meant to draw a connection between the two.
The other thought I’ve had is what if the Formless Mother herself is unchanged, but her messenger, the three fingers themselves are all that went mad, which used her power to bring forth the flame of frenzy. Since its still a derivative of her power, the needle works on it, but its something the fingers themselves made.
I still want to compile all the descriptions on both and think about this some more, but I really think there is a connection between the two.

Who does Vino like/is on good terms with and who is on the hate list? What do you enjoy most about them and their story?
Sorry this took a bit to answer I’ve been having a crazy week ;; sorry it’s kinda long
Well for being on good terms with/ people they like, obviously Dei (belongs to @voidcr0wn) since they spent most of their time working to make sure he ended up as Elden Lord.
They like a lot of the inhabitants of the rountable but it really just varies between them all.
They like D, Rogier, Hewg, Roderika, Corhyn, Diallos, and Nepheli. They feel bad for most of them, and I doubt a lot of them know that Vino likes them since they never really talk to them.
Outside of the Roundtable they like Miriel, Iji, Blaidd, and Boggart. I’m sure there’s more random npcs they would be on good terms with but I’m still not entirely sure who all they’ve met.
Also the Demigods/bosses of the game uhhh post story, they like Radagon, but they’ve always just kinda respected him since they’re a Golden Order freak. They don’t hate Godrick if that counts for anything, they did find it kinda fucked up that Gostoc is just stomping on him after he gets beat so there’s that. Their interactions with Rennala are pretty limited but they would still like her, they have no reason not to. They helped fight Radahn and they feel bad for him. They have a lot of respect for Godfrey even if they are kinda scared of him and uhhhh well they definitely have feelings about Morgott… they fought Margit, thought there was something very interesting about him and in usual Vino fashion decided to keep an eye on him until they went back to Leyndell and met Morgott… anyway to make a long story short Vino is his consort know so yeah needless to say they like each other…
Oh and they will violently enforce a rule of kindness to anyone that tries to hurt the nomadic merchants.
And characters on the hate list. Absolutely top of the list if Gideon, sure there are characters that are far worse than him (and Vino knows it) but they just really can’t stand him. When they’re in the roundtable hold they’ll just harass him, without saying anything cuz again they don’t talk a whole lot, but it’s annoying none the less and they end up being the one that kills him…
Vino also hates the dung eater and fia for I think obviously reasons…
They also really don’t like Varre, it has nothing to do with his personality and more that he offers to help Dei like a maiden would and I wanna say it jealousy, jealousy adjacent? Something like that they just don’t want anyone else getting in the way of what Vino sees as “the plan”
Not a fan of Seluvis or Sellen and really doesn’t like Shabriri…
Demigod wise they hate Mohg, for Miquella reasons, they’re probably really uncomfortable with Rykard and they don’t entirely trust Ranni (Rykard and Ranni I’d say are both mostly because of Vino’s golden order obsession but still)
Yeah! I’ll probably have to reblog this later and be like “oh yeah and this guy too” but for now yeah there’s a not at all comprehensive list of character stuffs. But if you want any specific characters or what me to elaborate please ask!
And what I enjoy most about Vino, I guess that they aren’t the main character really, I think it opens more options for their story to me instead of just having to have them end up as Elden Lord. I also personally like the mix of holy and madness they got going on (even if it was what ended up killing them)
