Linux stuff for nerds :P

so I know a few of y'all care / would be interested, thought I'd share. I have a decision for my next Linux distro! I currently have Kubuntu, and so far as I can tell, Ubuntu and I have problems relating to freezing and crashing on my laptop (it's a fairly new gaming laptop so idk why it's so pissy, but hey, w/e). I also have a super fun problem where Kubuntu refuses to uninstall old versions of anything and is perpetually attempting to fill boot for no good reason other than, "but I want 54 versions of kernel!"

(my much more Linux-savvy Gentoo friend spent almost 3 hours fighting Kubuntu to delete those after my GUI froze for the 4th time that day... and it's starting to crash daily again. magic SysReq my beloved)

my plan rn is to give MX Linux a try, and if I don't like that, I'm thinking I'll try Manjaro. I'm not super confident in using anything Arch based, since I'm still fairly new to Linux - Kubuntu was my first and only distro, and I've only been on Linux since late 2020.

I know Mint is really popular for new folks, but tbh I don't want Ubuntu. I do really like KDE Plasma for a desktop environment, though I'm flexible on that. I also considered Solus, and maybe if I don't like MX or Manjaro I'll give that a shot.
