unforgiving: a northern hymn is pretty damn good for an indie horror but also:

the first part of the game is kind of weak before it lets you wander freely

the narrative could’ve been a little bit stronger (only a touch; it did its job pretty well in telling the story without either dragging it out too long or making it super-duper obvious what was going to happen until towards the very very end other than a few totally missable hints from players who are rushing)

The main character’s ‘addiction’ (to what????) that is mentioned doesn’t come into play except as the initial action of the story requiring that explanation; i really thought she was gonna start having withdrawal symptoms of some sort throughout the game
