First a mountain lion, now raccoons. Who keeps bringing these North American animals into Britain to terrorize the local feral cats. Very rude.
#darktail says people were keeping raccoons as pets and that made me wonder about whether that's legal lol#in the US it's very much illegal to keep a raccoon because they're one of the top three rabies vectors#of course it's illegal to keep any wild animal without a license but i think even those with that license aren't supposed to keep raccoons#it's been years since learning this stuff in college though so i could be wrong#anyway the reason why i wonder is bc also in the US there is an exception for keeping wild animals as pets#and that is invasive species! the government doesn't care one bit if you capture starlings or pigeons bc they're not from here#(technically pigeons are feral — not wild)#so in the case of raccoons getting out into europe. that's an invasive species. are they fair game? they are still huge rabies vectors#ngl when reading about these cats having bite wounds from the raccoons i was instantly like ''uh oh rabies'' lol#ps i know it's been said at some point that warriors isn't set anywhere in particular. but come on.#every other animal in this series lives in britain. except wolves which are extinct there#but it's neat to think of wolves being successfully reintroduced to the island. maybe they can terrorize the feral cats next lol
