i’m very off and on about whether or not i wanna go through with pokemon protagonist headcanons bc i have weird ideas but never really feel like drawing them out bc i dislike drawing humans. but gen 5 thoughts are tempting me...
#i did have a ton of hcs for all the bw protags when i was like 13 but like. i shipped n and hilda at the time#so u can imagine that theyre not very good. and i feel embarassed bc i actually did put em out in the open in a fanfic once#(long deleted dont ask)#and i mean they were weird btw like i explained hilbert having no impact on the plot in the original games#by... having him be hilda's dead twin brother that followed her around as a ghost andfor some reason could still be seen by everyone#i think i was inspired by those middle school books by james patterson? i forget the name but the one where the protag#had a twin brother that died when he was a baby and he coped by imagining him as a ghost that gets him to do pranks#and i was like ''wow thats so deep im gonna do that w pokemon characters''#im rambling but like obviously id do it differently now. altho now that i think abt it i kinda dragged aspects of that into natch/wisp lmao#consistently my idea for hilbert is just that he hangs out in the battle subway and comically has no idea whats happening outside#and the harmonia sisters travel and see him there and they were like ''oh your sister defeated our king are you proud''#and hes just like ''what i have not heard from my sister in years''#(note: i do not know if he hasnt seen his sister in years)#hilda is obv the main protag is what im getting at and im still gonna have em be twinsbut idk what their current relationship would be#shes known bianca and cheren since preschool tho and theyre extremely tight knit#echoed voice

SECRET SANTA: Lis
Happy holidays Lis! I’m not good with making graphic or anything like that, so I hope this works! Writing is kinda my thing, and so yeah! Hope you enjoy it! ~Emily
Rosa wasn’t sure what she was to expect when she heard Hugh’s sister talking about seeing a Zoroark around Victory Road, but it sure wasn’t this. A castle, sunk underground, right below the Pokemon League. She had heard about what happened two years ago, but she didn’t believe it until now. Though if that was true then… she had a pretty good idea about who this castle belonged to. She took in a deep breath before descending down the stairs to the entrance of the castle.
Standing not too far away from the bottom of the stairs was someone she recognized, even if they had only briefly met. Green hair…it was N. She didn’t know much about him, but she knew his name at least.
Before she could say anything, he turned around to face her and when he did, there was a smile on his face. “You came…. I’m glad you did.”
“Well, yeah, of course I came here. After all…there was a reason I was supposed to come here, wasn’t there?” Rosa asked, to which N nodded.
“Yes. This is Team Plasma’s castle. The ruins of Ghetsis’s dreams…” N began, voice small and almost as if he was lamenting something.
“Team Plasma’s castle? From two years ago?” A nod.
“Yes. And within the castle, in the deepest chamber…I have to go there. I want to face you there. Follow me,” N explained. Rosa nodded and the two started walking, not before N stopped and turn to face the twin-tailed girl. “Actually…could you lead the way. I prefer to follow and it would allow for me to see which path you choose and observe what catches your interest. So would you please lead me?”
“It’s a straight shot there, right?” N nodded. “Then, okay. I can do that.” Rosa moved ahead of N as the two traveled through the castle. Rosa counted them lucky that there were no wild Pokemon here, but considering what this place was, she wasn’t surprised that there were none.  There was a room that the two stumbled upon and N went silent upon them entering it.
“This place… was my world.” N started. Rosa could sense how painful it was for him to be here, and she had second thoughts about them stopping here.
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. It clearly pains you to be here, and talk about it doesn’t it?”
N looked at her, surprised, but then shook his head. “It is painful but…I want to, no, need to tell you about it. After all, you don’t know that much about me, do you?”
Oh… “Alright.”
“When I was little, I was abandoned deep in the woods. The ones who took me in and raised me were the Pokémon who lived there. Then, one day, a man appeared, claiming to be my father. That was…Ghetsis. The things he gave me were… the name “Harmonia"… the knowledge a king would need… Pokémon with their hearts shut so very tightly I couldn’t even talk to them… and this room…” N explained.
Rosa couldn’t believe it. To have such a cruel life…it was unimaginable. And by the looks of the room, it was meant for a child rather than the grown man that stood before her.
“We should leave. After all, this isn’t where we need to be, right?” Rosa asked. N nodded and the two of them left, continuing through the ruined castle.
“Is this…the place where you were raised after Ghetsis took you in?” Rosa asked as they walked.
“Yes…but it wasn’t so much him that raised me. It was mostly the Seven Sages, and my sisters Anthea and Concordia that took care of me. I wonder…did he even see me as anything but a tool in his plans…?” Rosa remained silent, how could she answer that, even if it wasn’t a question meant to be answered.
Eventually, the two of them reached the throne room, the deepest part of the castle. They made their way to the center of the room, N taking a few more steps ahead of Rosa.
“This is the place you wanted me to bring you to, right?” she asked. N nodded.
“Yes. It was two years ago. For the sake of Pokémon… For my world of truth… I put my beliefs on the line and battle a certain Trainer! And I lost… But at the same time, I learned something important. To make a the world better, you must accept different ideas.”
Isn’t that just common sense? Rosa thought to herself, but then again, considering what she saw in that room, it made sense for N to have just now thought of that.
“I learned that this is the formula for changing the world. Accepting different ideas… I want to see if you a Trainer whose heart is strong enough to do that. Reshiram, come!”
With those words and a flash of light from a Pokeball, the vast white Pokemon that Rosa had seen before at the Great Chasm appeared as it stood beside N.
“Reshiram always want to know what truths you seek and how good of a Trainer you are. So please, battle with me. Are you ready?”
Rosa nodded, throwing out Aura’s Pokeball as the Lucario showed itself. “We’re ready. Bring it!” The two Pokemon nodded as they charged at each other for battle.
————
Once the smoke had cleared, both Pokemon remained standing. However, the vast white Pokemon fell to its knees, clearly defeated. Rosa recalled Aura as N looked at her, seeming proud of her before speaking.
“Reshiram and I were defeated. You feelings, your desire to know the truth— that’s what surpassed us. Battling with you reminded me of two years ago… It may just be a little, but I know you better… That’s how I feel.” There was a smile on his face, and Rosa returned that smile. N turned to Reshiram.
“Reshiram… thanks for everything. My journey with you has been truly wonderful! From now on, I want you to use your power to help this Trainer realize his/her dreams.” The dragon let out a cry that almost seemed sad. N’s expression fell a bit.
“I know. I’ll miss you, too… But your task is to help humans who seek truth. I learned so much from you. I’ll do my best to tell everyone else what I learned on my own. I’ll be OK! I can talk to Pokémon! I’ll become the bridge between Pokémon and Humans! That’s my truth! So… Rest well…” Reshiram nodded, and in a flash of light, the vast white Pokemon turned into something like a stone. N picked it up and handed it to Rosa.
“Rosa, I’ll entrust you with this Light Stone” She nodded and accepted it, placing it in her bag carefully.
“Take the Light Stone to Dragonspiral Tower! There you should be able to to get Reshiram to recognize you as a hero…A hero that can change the world.”
“What about you? What are you going to do?” Rosa questioned. N pulled his hat down slightly.
“I will… I’ll search for that Trainer I battled two years ago. And… I plan to say thank you. After all, they helped me change and learn so much…”
“I see…will we meet again?” Rosa asked, to which N smiled at.
“Perhaps. As long as you have something that you’re striving for, we will meet again. Now go! Reshiram is waiting for you after all.”
Rosa nodded and moved to leave the castle, her journey not over yet.
Actually…it’ll never end, right? After all, as long as I still having something I’m striving for, then the story isn’t isn’t over. Mine, N’s, Hugh’s…no one’s story is over until they’ve found something they still want. I guess…there’s no end to Pokemon, is there?
And if the Light Stone in her bag had anything to say, then there wasn’t an end to it after all.
YOUR SECRET SANTA WAS... EMILY!  She worked very hard on this!  Please give her your biggest thanks, and a very happy holiday!
