ena and mizuki sometimes post dancing videos on tiktok! ena is Terrible at learning the dances and mizuki teases her the whole time so when they eventually have the videos ready for upload ena is always frowning in them

for ena’s birthday, mizuki once made a 2dmv using ena’s selfies (which she animated) as a silly present… ena pretended to be annoyed but she was in full lesbian panic thinking of mizuki spending hours animating and editing her selfies alsgslsgsk disaster lesbian

mizuki’s real present that birthday was to pay for ena’s desserts at a cute cafe! ena loved taking cute pics of the place for her account but by the end of the day she ended up with more pictures of mizuki and of the two of them together than of herself or the place

this is not rly a headcanon bc it’s been established in game but they go shopping together at the mall at least once a week! they both get butterflies in their stomach and blush when the other recommends some clothes or makeup that would suit them

they love lending clothes and make up to each other!! they both act rly gay in private when they try on the other’s lipstick/lipgloss (their hearts hammering in their chests bc “this is an indirect kiss…”) and they breathe a bit deeper when wearing the other’s clothes, the scent making their chests feel tight with longing

for their first official date, they took the train and went to the place where they went on a picnic with airi and shizuku all that time ago. this is because they didn’t wanna run into anyone they knew and wanted a quiet place to be alone. they have a nice picnic and both are too nervous to talk but then mizuki breaks the silence by teasing ena about her bento looking all funny (she tried her best okay!). after that it’s all like usual!! the share bentos, talk about nothing, and on the walk back to the bus stop their hands brush together and they are both so red in the face they laugh at each other. they hold hand properly as they wait for the bus, looking at a beautiful sunset

after they get together, they don’t immediately tell mafuyu and kanade bc they’re scared they’ll think something in their group dynamic would change. they tell them in a very officious manner at the usual family diner, and kanade frowns while mafuyu deadpans “you talked about dates in the main channel. also kanade and i are in also involved, we thought you knew, we don’t hide it.” it’s all a bit chaotic after that but then they all laugh (and mafuyu smiles ever so slightly). mizuki already knew that knmf had mutual feelings for each other but she thought they’d say smth if they started dating. ena had no idea.

this is more of a kanamafu headcanon but they think they’re obvious bc they stand very close together and fix each other’s clothes and hold hands etc. but mizuena thought nothing of it bc you know. kanamafu are both quite autistic so norms don’t really apply to their behaviours.

mizuki wants a prize figure for a magical girl anime she likes so they schedule a date at the arcade. mizuki tries her best to get the prize figure but cant. ena decides to be a good girlfriend and says “leave it to me.” she sucks so bad that mizuki cries from laughing as ena yells abuse at the machine and everyone stares at them. ena punches the machine and the figure (which mizuki had moved near the edge) falls in the hole. they both look stare at each other in silence for a second and then laugh so much their bellies hurt. seeing ena laugh so much makes mizuki impulsively kiss her for the first time. they both stare at each other in shock before giggling and hugging

akitoya were at the arcade too, and when akito heard ena yell at the machine he grabbed toya and ran out the arcade without looking back.

akito and ena accidentally plan their coming out on the same evening and it’s chaos at the dinner table (bc they start accusing the other of copying them and “why didn’t you tell me first” and “akiyama? of course… you two are really made for each other” “what is That supposed to mean?!” etc) . their dad doesnt have much to say, but their mom demands they invite mizuki and toya there for dinner some time.

dinner with the shinonome’s is a lot of fun for mizuki! she gets to see ena and akito being silly and keeps teasing them when their mom is out of earshot (she wants to make a good impression). ena’s mom smiles very fondly when she sees ena sneakily putting her carrots on mizuki’s plate and mizuki pretending not to notice. ena’s dad comes back late from the atelier and shakes mizuki’s hand and asks her to take care of ena. it’s a very short meeting but it makes mizuki realize she really IS dating ena and it’s official and she can barely fall asleep that night even though they have been dating for a month.

once ena tried to sketch mizuki but she’s so nervous her hands keep shaking and mizuki’s teasing her but she’s also feeling very self-conscious and her heart wont stop beating fast! ena eventually manages to make a nice portrait, and mizuki grins all the way back home, and hangs the portrait over her bed. she think she looks cuter in the drawing, and keeps grinning thinking that’s how ena sees her.

ena meets yuuki one time when she is back from france and they hit it off rly well!! mizuki is so so happy to see the two most important people to her talk about fashion and french pastries! yuuki was told about ena’s sweet tooth so she brought her some macarons from france, and ena is so happy she is a bit over enthusiastic in thanking yuuki, and mizuki teases her quite a bit about it.

when mizuki goes to get them some drinks, yuuki takes ena aside and thanks her for all she did for mizuki since middle school (with niigo) and asks her to take good care of her little sister while she’s away. she gets a bit teary as she says this, remembering how lonely and miserable mizuki was and how happy she is now. ena also gets teary and when mizuki comes back with drinks, she finds them crying on the sofa lmao

while yuuki is still in town, the three of them go shopping together and yuuki helps both ena and mizuki coordinate their outfits. when it’s time for her to go back to france, she promises ena she’ll sew her some clothes and ship them her way

now that they are dating, mizuki starts going to school more often and actually stays till the end of the day so that she can wait for ena to come take her evening classes. and ena starts going to school a bit early so they can hang out on the roof for a while before mizuki goes home and ena’s classes starts. on the roof, they chill and share snacks and do each other’s make up and read fashion magazines and browse social media together and discuss the music video they’re working on for niigo… sometimes ena draws and mizuki watches editing tutorials on her phone. they always sit very close, hip to shoulder, and sometimes one of them rests their head on their other’s shoulder and they just close their eyes and enjoy each other’s comforting presence

So I went ahead and made the list. XD This list will highlight Niigo events and mixed events that are most pertinent, in my opinion, to Mizuki or some step of a Niigo character. Keep in mind there are, by nature, events not included that have pieces that enhance characters close to Mizuki, and I do def encourage giving the Whole story a shot, but we can get the most relevant beats here for now.

24. Next to that Unchanging Warmth: Mizuki focus mixed! Incredibly sweet event that also features the first time Mizuki's sister properly showed up!

25. Take the Best Shot: More minor mixed in this context, but Ena is here with friends, and it's very fun.

26. Relaxing Teatime: Mixed, Kanade focus, but it's good to see her and Mafuyu's progress.

27. Knowing the Unseen. Niigo key. Huge move forward by Ena, honestly.

28. Bring out the Light/Reeling in the Lights: Niigo key, Mafuyu focused. The end of the event directly ties to Mizuki's following key event.

29. Let's Make a Beautiful Sound: (minor) mixed with a Touya focus, Kanade and Mafuyu getting to know more people is most of the Niigo space here. I do like this one for 'oh yea Touya and Kanade are some of The most immersed in music, of course they'd hit it off'. Card stories v cute.

30. With You, at the SEKAI's Beginning-VSinger's WLink is worth mentioning IMO.

31. Wonda-horror! Test of Courage-Mixed with Mafuemu focus.

hey, ive seen a lot of good stuff about project sekai and mizuki's character on your blog and others whose opinions i trust and im intrigued to see what the hypes about, but i also swore i wouldnt play anymore gacha games after i got into arknights. do you know if theres a resource or website where i can read the story without having to interact with the gacha game elements?

hey! i can def help with that (and may i say, i'm truly delighted my rambles and others have piqued your interest, I've always appreciated your own analyses for other fandoms we've shared).

For just reading the story, though without L2D animations: sekai.best. Event stories, card stories, even the mini-convos that the characters have in the various areas, you can read them here. I'm constantly cross-referencing here when writing. You can also change in the settings what server you're looking at, so you can look at EN's translations, or at the stories only currently in JP for example.

For watching events with their official TLs: the official EN channel's playlists. Weirdly hard to find the channel so direct link here. Currently way behind as well. Someone noted, i think it was proseka-facts? that recording for this seems to happen on someone's phone.

For the most complete record of the story outside of the game's internal archive: the JP channel playlist. One playlist unlike EN, and updated far more regularly/frequently, currently only a single event behind (only the most recent event is not yet uploaded). However, no subtitles.

For the next most complete record where you can watch that has subs: this utterly massive playlist where the creator, bless them, is trying to have links to all the event story in one list. A bit behind, but is in-between the official EN and JP playlists.

However, since some channels have been delisted, and there have been times in the past I've noted some events only get partially TL'd (bless the TLers doing this on their own time) what I'd recommend is using sekai best's event list to see order and if an event isn't in the list, trying to search it up on its own, to see if anyone made a 'backup' for that event.. or if someone's TL'd it but the playlist owner just hasn't had the time to put it into the master playlist.

I've always wondered about knd's opinions and thoughts about asamom tbh. we don't really get that much info about it, she didn't really speak that much when mfy talked about her on two occasions, and people kind of assume that she's on the same page as mzk and en, that knd also sees her as a terrible parent.

I would think the same, if it wasn't for this one small moment in one of knd’s card stories that made me think otherwise and has been on my mind for quite some time now. that perhaps knd might see asamom in a somewhat positive viewpoint (compared to mzen's and to us viewers)

tldr: with asamom eventually finding out her daughter’s music friend and will go have a nice “friendly chat” with said friend will be inevitable at this point considering this is what the events have been building up, just like in ena’s event where mfy’s worldview about her family has slowly been shaken once she’s in the shinonome household, i do hope that kanade too would experience the same thing, in order to truly understand what mafuyu's going through

in the 2nd side story of knd’s lost child card mfy logged in early and the two of them talked. about what happened when mfy got home, what’s her mother’s reaction, as well as her announcing that she won’t be attending their nightly meetings that much. 

her reaction, and her response to mfy are the ff:

if you know that your friend's mom is a shitty parent then i don't think that this is gonna be your reaction. now i know that knd isn’t really the type of person who will pry too much on someone's life or feelings if they seemed uncomfortable in sharing it (sure there was that one time in the marionette event, but she learned from it afterwards). however, mzk and en managed to get a grasp of mfy's situation despite mfy not really telling them the whole context on why she seems down and terrified, so why not knd ?

one main factor of this is because of kanade’s upbringing. she came from a family who raised her with love and care and she treasures her memories with them, even if her time with her mother has been a fleeting one and her only living parent is currently in a state where he cannot recognize her. their love for her is genuine, and they don't impose their own values to her.

that is where her bias lies.

so perhaps in knd’s perspective asamom is just an overprotective but loving mother who’s may be a little too overbearing to her daughter, and not a parent who pushes what she wants on others, one who controls her child's actions to make sure that she's the perfect daughter to the point that it suffocates their child.

contrasting to mzk and en who had some experiences and can relate to mfy's current situation to some extent. mzk's family seems to be supportive of them, but they know the feeling of always being pressured to fit into other people's expectations of you, and being ostracized if you didn't, and en with her dad trying to discourage her to pursue art which ends up into losing her confidence and self-worth in both of her art and as a person.

which is why i believe ena helping mafuyu was very crucial for the latter in that she manages to somehow shaken mfy’s perspective and how she slowly starts to realize that her mother might not be as loving as she might have initially thought and that she’s slowly having doubts about her. not fully. but the seeds have been planted in her mind. not to say that kanade’s support isn’t good or isn’t helping at all or anything, it’s just that it’s not the most appropriate one in her current situation. there's only so much she can do. there's only so much that they can do.

(i mean ofc the best ideal help that mfy would be getting is family counseling and therapy but that's currently not accessible to her. will the game even acknowledge this at all, even just a passing offhanded mention ?)

knd knows that mfy seems to be suffering, yes, but she knows that asamom is important for mfy as well. even if she does know the full context, i don't think that knd will risk severing the familial bonds that mfy has with her mother

kind of ironic that the person who’s the most understanding to her, the one who wants to know her better, is the one who understands her the least here.

they may be connected together in their shared despair, and that both of them may be similar with having struggles with their parents but it's clear that their experiences are different as yoi and asa

i have no doubts that knd will realize that asamom isn't a good parent at some point and that she’s primarily if not the main reason why mfy’s suffering and is currently who she is. with the potential yoi event looming in just a few days, this scenario might happen. i do believe it's a bit early that asamom will confront her though (the event ending in a cliffhanger where she finally found out her child's music friend could be a possible outcome). but the upcoming event could be the turning point, where she will slowly figure out asa's situation, and it's where she will realize that not all parents were as loving and warm as hers, and her established beliefs about it will be challenged. she needs to have an eye-opening scenario in order to fully understand what mfy's going through right now

because in order to truly understand a person, you must put yourself in their shoes, and that involves working out your own beliefs and personal biases

My favourite sekai event is 'my footprints your destination' and it isn't just cuz of mzen like everything in that event was peak like the story, song, the cards? crazy good.

My favourite character from each uni is, l/n: honami, mmj: shizuku tied with minori, vbs: akito, wxs: i actually like them all quite equally but if i had to choose one then prob nene, n25: cmon..... you alreadyy knowwwww (looks at my icon)

My favourite character to draw: is probably tsukasa, akito and kanade like it has mostly to do with their hair, it's really fun to draw

This is what I predicted for 2022 Q4 vs. what actually happened

I was pretty damn close ngl I kinda popped off with that lim haruka banner prediction and also Shizuku AND Tsukasa got mixed banners in this quarter, not "or." I'm so brilliant.

Here's my predictions for 2023 Q1:

Based on the teaser pvs on twitter, we know Honami and Emu are happening in January for sure, the rest are probably all mixed up though.

Kohane, Kanade, Tsukasa and Shizuku will be the last ones to get a 3rd unit banner. They haven't skipped over anybody in terms of banner count in over a year and a half, so I'm fairly certain those 4 will be getting their 3rd before anybody else gets their 4th.

The mixed events are a shot in the dark. I really have no idea, I just guessed Saki and An based on vibes? I guess? It's harder to predict those when so many characters have yet to get their 2nd mixed banner. This is just me, but I would LOVE to see an An mixed kamikou banner this year since she wasn't on the other 2 previous kamikou line-ups.

Event #84 is during the valentines time slot from last year, so if they do another valentines event, it's probably not going to have Saki in it again. There's just no one else I feel could work well there in terms of pacing, but it's not like colorful palette is trying to have good pacing. They make money by forcing whales to spend money on crystals so like

And as for the Kanade lim banner, Kanade is due for the next niigo event and she’s one of the characters that only has 2 lim cards atm, so it just kinda made sense to put it like that? Event #87 is in the white day time slot from last year, but this could easily be #84 as well. Colorful palette isn't stupid, they know a lim valentines or white day niigo banner would sell extremely well.

Colorfes is another shot in the dark. After mzen, there's ichisaki, minoshizu, akikoha, and emukasa left as well as rin, len, meiko and kaito. With the way I chose to schedule things, I think akikoha Q1 colorfes is most likely, since event #91 would be a leo/need event. I'm hoping for Q2 minoshizu and Q4 emukasa, personally, but idk, it could be any of those pairings.
