what’s wrong with bethesda?

oKAY ANON I AM VERY OPINIONATED ABOUT THIS SO LET ME NERD OUT FOR A SECThey pioneered the modern era of DLC with stupid shit back in the day like their Oblivion Horse Armor DLCAnd I mean I feel like I don’t have to go into detail about the whole valve/bethesda paid mods on steam shenanigans.They make broken ass games and leave it up to the community to make community patches to fix them. (I don’t use the word broken lightly, there’s a lot of games with bugs, but unmodded bethesda games are quite literally broken)They use the most shitty outdated engine from a million fucking years ago and refuse to upgrade to a better one.They make the most generic “pandering to the masses” kinda games with content that pleases the media and people who know shit all about games and are happy with broken lore and shitty ass quests compared to their previous games. Comparing the guild quests from the older elder scrolls games to the skyrim guild quests makes me sad for example.They ruined two of the best series of all time (TES/Fallout)Comparing Morrowind/Daggerfall to Skyrim or fallout 2 to fallout 4 makes me wanna cryThey refuse to innovate or do anything worthwhile and just keep milking the same shit over and over again (skyrim/gamebryo)The levelling and writing in their games is so mcfuckin bad. I cannot play a bethesda game without mods to fix at least the terrible scaled levelling.Skyrim was bad, Fallout 4 was INCREDIBLY bad. I just feel like they’ve gone so downhille since newvegas/morrowind. (I prefer fallout 1 or 2 but I do still think new vegas is a solid game too tbh)It just kinda feels like Bethesda used to be passionate about their games, but then they found something that worked and just decided “fuck the passion, we can make money from this”. They decided to milk the same formula over and over while scaling down the quality and depth over time to make it easier to pump out new games.Their new games are just so incredibly streamlined and dumbed down compared to their old games. Playing their new games makes me feel like I’m 5 years old again and need my hand held while I attack my first scary monster.I wanna turn this into a fucking essay but I’m gonna drop it here instead because I just realized how much I already have written.I think this is the hardest I’ve ever nerd ranted on tumblr before. mY APOLOGIES but Bethesda triggers me more than almost any other company, besides maybe Blizzard.
