To clarify, this is about certain phenotypic traits being viewed as more desirable or beneficial than others. Or on the flip, certain characteristics are viewed negatively or associated with illnesses.

This usually concerns eye or sometimes hair colour, like a character having so-and-so-coloured eyes being elevated in the line of succession or something. It's an element of eugenics.

Eugenics?! In my royal simblr? It's more common than you'd think.

#this isn't me vaguing abt one person out because it's so common it's like a convention #and this isn't me bitching about it being problematic . . . it's more just the wasted potential or lack of intention #very common trope #i have seen it pop up in so many stories at this point BUT #never seen the racial purity of it all addressed before tho #and i think that's the interesting part about it that it's so obviously race science #what is the point of including race theories in the story but then just have it go no where #so it looms in the background like the ghost of leopold ii #and ofc the desirable traits are lighter and the 'bad' ones are darker of fucking course they are #very similar to the post i made about tropical tours and colonialism #or sims plantation builds or probably some other things lol #the elements are there with no consideration for what they mean
