We got back together not too long ago and are super super happy, looking forward to starting our life together. We just bought a house together not too long ago which is super cool. We also got two puppies, Pan and Thor which are the start to our little family. Feel free to take a ook around. Got a question, just chuck it into the ask box and I'll answer it for ya. Quinn nodded because she knew that was what they would be doing with any spare time they had for a while. That and picking out a name once they knew what they were having. Up until now they really hadn’t even settled on anything they liked or didn’t like because why pick out two names instead of one? At least this way they could focus on either boy or girl names without worrying about the other. Sure there were a few names she liked but they were still tucked away for the time being. “It’ll be nice to finally get a start on it.”
She had to laugh because that was probably true. “As long as they’re healthy, I am happy.” In the end that was all that she wanted was a healthy baby. Everything else really didn’t matter all that much in the scope of things. “But little girl things are so cute,” she protested softly though she was more teasing him than anything. “If we have a little girl first we’ll just have to teach her to keep herself safe and then all her little siblings.” Quinn didn’t doubt they would have more children somewhere down the line.
Thankfully it didn’t take long for the nurse to call them in and then it was a flutter of the usual doctor things: measurements of weight, blood pressure, heart rate and a bunch of other things they normally checked. All seemingly taking forever because she was just too excited to finally know the sex of their baby. It wasn’t until the ultrasound tech paused that Quinn frowned. “Don’t even tell me that the little one doesn’t want to cooperate.” Surely that was all it was because there wasn’t anything wrong with their baby, there couldn’t be. Instead she squeeze Sam’s hand figuring she just needed a better look to tell them if their baby was a boy or a girl. When the woman told them they were having twins, Quinn had to laugh. “Funny, now just tell us already.” Surely she was just joking because that was something everyone always joked about. It wasn’t until the woman told them they were having one of each, a boy and a girl, that she stopped to look at her. “We’re not having twins…” She told the lady feeling the color fade from her skin. One baby was daunting enough, that she could handle, two wasn’t part of the plan.
Sam was looking forward to being able to actually get a start on everything officially. He wanted to have everything ready for when the baby arrived. He was glad they had both agreed on finding out the gender so that they could do it. It was just something he wanted to make sure they were as prepared for as they possibly could be. “Yeah, it will be.” he agreed with a nod of his head. He knew that Quinn certainly had a biased want for the baby also, she was just more reluctant to actually admit it out loud. She wasn’t wrong about the little girls things being cute, and of course he was going to be just as happy if it was a little girl they were having, it was just a nice thought he had if they had a boy.
He couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as they were called into the room. Even though the baby had been developing at a pretty normal rate, it always made him anxious. He grew concerned at the way the doctor was looking at the little screen in front of them at the ultrasound. Furrowing his eyebrows, he drew his lip between his teeth as Quinn spoke. Yeah, maybe that was the problem. If it were, they would just have to get one of those 3D ultrasounds, they were usually the go-to thing next to find out the gender, weren’t they?
As the word ‘twins’ was said, on more than one occasion, Sam simply stared at the screen. Surely she was joking? Two babies? How had they not spotted it sooner? It wasn’t until the two babies were actually pointed out to him that realisation started to hit. “We-we’re having two?” As if having one baby hadn’t thrown off their plans, two certainly did. Now they had to rethink everything. They had to buy two of everything. “A boy and a girl?” He finally cracked a smile as he looked towards Quinn. At least they would both get what they wanted. Sort of. “Holy crap... We’re having twins...”

“Lets work on the nursery tomorrow.” Quinn told him as she flipped idly through the magazine while they waited for the doctor. Now that they were finding out the sex of their baby they could finally get that started and out of the way. Right now the room was just a collecting place for all the things their friends and family had already bought. Not to mention the two of them were just as guilty considering there already was a crib, a stuffed animal and a few other things of their own they’d tucked away for their baby. Now she just wanted to get that done before she was too uncomfortable and feeling better now that her first trimester was over.
“You know, before I can barely move.” Quinn joked with a slight roll of her eyes. It had felt like though that her baby bump had appeared over night. It felt like just yesterday she was wearing her normal clothes and now most of them had to be tucked away until she was capable of wearing them again. A four and a half months she still had quite a ways to go before her due date which she didn’t even want to think about. She just hoped their baby wasn’t overly large because the idea of giving birth to a large baby kind of scared her if she was being honest. “I’ve already gained nearly fifteen pounds…” It felt like a lot to her especially considering how strict she normally was on her diet and body.
Quinn looked at Sam a moment, smiling softly. “So be honest, do you want a boy or a girl?” In the end Quinn knew they would be happy with a happy and healthy baby but she was curious. Part of her wanted a little girl because little dresses were cute and adorable, but little boys were supposed to love their moms too.. “The little girl stuff is so cute.” Either way she figured it would just mean they would have another baby at some point so they could hopefully have a boy or girl, opposite of whatever they were expecting right now.
As of today, they were finally able to do that. Start working on the nursery. It was exciting and Sam couldn’t wait to actually begin. He had so many idea that he wanted to tell Quinn about- regarding colors and themes, and the general layout of the room. He had given some of his ideas, but mostly waited until they knew for sure. he didn’t want to get super excited about one and then not be able to use it due to whatever gender they were having. “I think that is an awesome idea,” he answered softly with a nod of his head. They could go to the shops in the afternoon to get everything in preparation for the following day.
He chuckled at the comment regarding her baby bump. Sam loved it. He thought it made Quinn look cute, and he was finally able to see the evidence of what they had made. Sam was sure Quinn could feel it from the moment they found out they were pregnant, but now Sam was finally able to, also. It made him feel less silly talking to the bump rather than her previously toned stomach. “Maybe we just have like, a super super healthy baby or something. I mean I’m sure weight gain is totally normal and stuff.” Sam honestly hadn’t really noticed how much bigger she may or may not of been, it wasn’t a big deal to him at all. It didn’t change her being the woman he was in love with.
Sam drew his lip between his teeth in thought for a moment. Of course in the end it wasn’t going to matter what they had, he would love it the same. But he would be lying if he didn’t have a certain biased preference. “I think I want a little boy first.” Growing up being the older brother, he wanted to have the same thing for his children as he was able to be for his younger siblings. Especially his sister. “We can have a little girl next. Then she’ll have a big brother to keep her safe while she’s growing up. No boys mess with you when you have a big brother.” That was just the way he saw things.

“Well,” Quinn thought about it a moment. “I will be the one nursing the baby.” It only seemed fair that Sam help with the diapers. Not that she expected him to do it all the time but it would be nice to have help. Just thinking about all the diapers, laundry and feedings was enough to make her head hurt. A baby was great but it was going to be a lot of work too. Quinn was convinced however that they would make it work somehow.
Quinn shot him a look because she didn’t believe him. He wanted to go now because he knew she was upset he didn’t want to go. “No you don’t.” Or at least he didn’t want to go a few seconds ago when she told him where they were going. Maybe taking him out wasn’t the way to make him feel better but if it wasn’t Quinn wasn’t sure how to manage it. All she wanted was for him to feel better again. Seeing him so upset only made her feel sad and upset that she couldn’t fix it for him; that was what she was supposed to be able to do, make him feel better.
“I’ve seen the first one.” There were probably viewings to watch the other ones, it seemed vaguely familiar, but she probably fell asleep. Usually she tried to watch Sam’s movies because it was something they could do together but she didn’t always make it through. Especially lately when all she wanted to do was sleep. She couldn’t wait until she was safely into the next trimester of her pregnancy so she could stop feeling so tired and worn out all the time. “But we can just stay home if you’d rather do that.” She supposed they could pack a lunch and have a picnic or something.
“Yes, I do,” Sam answered back quickly with a nod of his. And now not only because he felt obligated to because she put in the effort to do it; he legitimately wanted to go now and check out what sounded like a really cool museum. “C’mon, babe. You put a lot of time into this. And no, I’m not only saying I wanna go now cause you’re all upset and stuff. It actually sounds like a pretty cool place to go and see.” As he finished speaking, he tried his best to put on a pouty face in the hopes she would change her mind again and come along. “Please?”
Sam’s jaw dropped as she answered his question. He was kind of hoping that he had been wrong in thinking it was possible that she hadn’t seen them all. Now he was kind of just really let down. “Only the first, really?” he questioned, probably with a little more shock than there should have been, and a hint of disappointed along with it. “Okay.” He recomposed himself. “I am prepared to do a lot of explaining,” he informed with a firm nod of his head. “There’s no way we’re not going to this things anymore. We gotta go. You gotta see the awesomeness that will be this movie.”
With that, he wasn’t giving Quinn any other chance. Well, she was still technically able to stay home, but Sam was going to be going regardless of whether or not she was deciding to come along with him. It was as simple as that. Placing a kiss to her forehead, Sam reached to open the door. “I am leaving in 5 minutes.” Ideally this plan wasn’t actually going to work if she didn’t some too - he had no idea where the venue even was - but he was hoping it was enough to actually get her to move her stubborn feet. “We’re gonna go out and have an awesome day.”

Quinn raised an eyebrow. “Well, I suppose that’s true too. Dads get diaper duty though most of the time,” she teased. That was something she had to tease him about. When it came down to it she figured they would share the responsibilities as parents. They still had time for that Quinn figured. They hadn’t even found out yet if they were having a little boy or girl yet.
She couldn’t help but frown at his reaction to where they were going. “Yes really,” she told him back still fighting the frown. A lot of the excitement she had felt for the carefully planned day had quickly been deflated. It wasn’t something she planned for her enjoyment. This was suppose to be about making Sam feel better because he had been feeling upset and down.
“Then we don’t have to go.” She told him hearing her own voice waiver and break a little. Then she got mad at herself for being one of those overly emotionally pregnant woman. Now she wasn’t so sure they should even go. “If you were wondering it was a museum that’s all about Star Wars and all that stuff…” What it exactly entailed she wasn’t sure because she didn’t understand half the things on the brochure. Star Wars was something she had never watched until she started dating Sam. “They’re showing the new movie too.”
Sam crinkled his nose up at the thought of the stinky diapers. He would do it if need be though, obviously; it was a part of being a parent, something that needed to be done regardless of how you felt about it. He wasn’t going to be one of those father’s that expected the mother to do everything like that, either. Maybe it was because his dad was the same way with him and his siblings, but he wanted to be one of those father’s that were really involved with their children. “If I get diaper duty, then what do you get to balance things out?” he questioned teasingly.
He knew he had put his foot in it when Quinn’s smile turned to a frown almost immediately, and the guilt for it kicked in almost right away. She had gone to all this effort to try and cheer him up, and he was just making things difficult for her. “No, no. It’s okay. I wanna go,” he answered her quickly, shaking his head. Now he really felt like a jerk. He could tell the change in her tone.
Now they were both in a bad mood, which was quickly killing the want to do anything. But Sam knew that he definitely needed to suck it up and go now. “Wait.. really? They have a museum for that?” Quinn really wasn’t into that sort for thing, so knowing where she had planned on taking him actually meant a lot. “C’mon, babe. I’m not gonna let you put all this planning and stuff to waste.” Pressing a kiss to her temple, he hoped his words were enough to coax her into wanting to come along again. “I’ve been dying to see the new one.” Pausing a moment, he lifted a curious brow at her, “Have I made you watch the original ones yet?” She had watched a fair few movies with him, but he couldn’t recall if Star Wars was one of them.

“You better be coming,” she warned again but she figured it wasn’t necessary. Sam usually didn’t require being coaxed or dragged out when she wanted to go out. Instead she fed the dogs and made sure they had plenty of water to hold them over until they got back from their day. She wasn’t sure how long it would take but she knew it would be several hours before they got back. “You two be good and don’t get into things,” she warned looking squarely at the blonde puppy knowing Thor would be the one to get into something while they were gone.
She raised an eyebrow as she turned to look in his direction. “Well… I suppose I could allow you some say in the name.” She teased. Part of her didn’t want to rush the deciding on the name but the other part of her wanted to have something to call their little one by. A few more weeks and they would know the sex which would probably aid them greatly in deciding on at least a few names they were strongly considering. “No. It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you.”
“I promise though you’ll enjoy it.” They didn’t get to go out too much lately considering they had spent a lot of time and effort into the house and their dogs. “You’re just supposed to sit back, relax and pretend to be overly thrilled at what I have planned for you.” Quinn had tried to pack their day with a whole bunch of things that would make Sam happy. “So to the car with you or the truck, whichever you prefer to ride in. We’re going to a museum and that’s all you get to know and no, you’re not allowed to grumble just yet because it’s not what you think.”
“You suppose?” he questioned with a chuckle, shaking his head. “I mean, I’m only the dad and will have to raise the little one, but it’s cool. I guess it would be alright to have some say,” he teased in return, his nose crinkling up as he did so. There was no holding back the whine though as she refused to let him in on what they were doing for the day. He didn’t like not knowing where they were supposed to be going. Though there was admittedly some excitement in the unknown, this was just one of those times where the exact opposite stood true.
Sam supposed he trusted Quinn enough to plan a day for them that she knew he would enjoy. At least, that was until she mentioned a museum. Never before in his life had he ever found a museum exciting. Okay, so maybe when he was there looking at dinosaur fossils and exhibitions maybe he enjoyed them a little bit, but for the most part they were boring and he spent the entire time bored. “Really, Quinn?” he asked, the previous happy buzz killed for the time being. Maybe it would come back again when they got there.
Without really saying anything else, he stepped outside to head towards the car. He hoped that it really wasn’t going to be something boring. When he was bored he tended to overthink, and thinking was the last thing he wanted to be doing right now. He knew it was unfair to Quinn and to their baby to be so upset all the time lately, but he couldn’t help it. The wound was still there and the second he had the time to think about everything all over again, it was like the hole was re-opened. “This better be some like, super museum or something, Q. Or I might have to cry.”

Quinn bounced anxiously on her toes excited about what their day held for them. For days now she had been planning it and she wanted it to go according to plan. No surprises for once. “Sam!” She called out to him hoping he would get the hint and hurry up. Patience was certainly not a virtue she possessed in spades. All she wanted was to get her fiance out the door so she could surprise him with the day she had planned for them.
Ever since that day in the store she knew Sam had been upset, not that she blamed him, but she wanted to make him feel better. It was something she was supposed to be able to do and seeing him walk around upset hurt. Her heart ached from every moment she had to witness the hurt, betrayal and pain beneath his eyes. Today however, Quinn was going to give them something happy to do. Something hopefully to alleviate the current pain if even for a day.
“Sam Evans,” Quinn started tapping her foot subconsciously against the wooden floor much to Thor’s chagrin. “If you don’t get your attractive butt down here I’m not going to give you a single say in the baby’s name.” She threatened hoping that would inspire him to move a little faster. Not that she would actually do it but hey, it sounded good in her head. There were already several pages with their corners folded in with names she had liked the sound of. Some for boys, some for girls. It excited her that in just a few weeks they would finally know what they were having.
Sam had no idea why Quinn was so chipper today, and he also had no clue as to why she was wanting him to get ready in such a rush. In his eyes, there wasn’t really a whole lot to be chipper about. Sure, finding out that he hadn’t knocked up his ex fiancee was probably supposed to be a good thing, it meant he could focus solely on Quinn and their child. But it still felt like a piece of his world had been taken from him, and it hurt way more than he ever thought it could.
Still, he was trying to put on a brave face for Quinn. He knew it was hurting her seeing him so down all the time, he just wasn’t exactly a very good liar. To be fair, he had never been a great one and with Quinn he was even worse. But for her today, he was going to try. It sounded, by the little information that she had actually given him, that she had gone to some effort to arrange today. It was only right to try and not be completely morbid all day long. “I’m coming!” he called back at her threat as he found his shoes.
“And I am totally getting a say in the name,” he answered as he walked down the stairs. They had been looking at a few, and even to Sam’s surprise there were a few that he suggested that Quinn didn’t completely hate right off the bat. One’s that he could relate to, and not so subtly from some of his favorite comics, but she had agreed to give them a thinking over. “So, are you finally gonna tell me what we’re doing today?” he asked softly, stepping to press a kiss to her cheek. “It would be nice to know what we’re doing.”

Amazing, right, but she wasn’t quite sure what that way was. There were a lot of ideas on the Internet but Quinn wasn’t sure if any of them fit them. It did have to be creative and unique. It had to be something that fit the two of them. “It does but I am not sure of how…” The timing had to be right too. Quinn figured that it would be easier on a day they would all be together any way or someone might get suspicious as to why they were calling everyone together. “Easter is the end of March this year…” It was right around the time she would be getting out of her first trimester. The holiday could be something they could work with when it came to their announcement.
Quinn couldn’t help but frown as she rested her chin on Sam’s shoulder as she listened to Jess talk. The longer she talked the more and more unhappy she became. Instinctively she wrapped her arms around her fiancee hoping she could at least make him feel a little bit better. Quinn couldn’t make the situation any less than it was but she could hopefully ease it a little bit. It was all pretty shocking. She wasn’t even sure she believed what she was hearing.
She couldn’t help her own tears that threatened to spill from her own eyes. It hurt to see Sam so upset and the baby hormones surely didn’t help either. Jess hadn’t meant to get back at him, she was probably scared, it still didn’t excuse what she did. “Sam, lets go home…” This was something that needed to be dealt with in private. “We can always come back.” If they needed they could always come back for the crib and the stuffed animal if it was too much now. She would understand if he just wanted to go home and deal with this newest curveball his ex had thrown at him.
That would now be the newest thing that would play on Sam’s mind. How were they going to deliver the news about the new addition. It was a tough one, and he agreed with Quinn. Everything had to be perfectly timed if they actually wanted to receive the desired effect from everyone who was being informed. Though, surely a child couldn’t be too shocking to people who knew the pair well enough. They had both been wanting and planning for children, so it wasn’t like that was going to be people weren’t expecting from the couple at some point. Just perhaps it might have been a little sooner. “Think maybe we could get like, an egg for everyone and put something inside it that like kinda signifies a baby.”
It was probably a good thing that Quinn was resting against Sam at the current moment, because if she hadn’t been, Sam probably would have done something that would have landed him in trouble. Demolishing a store was probably not something people were just going to let go, even with the circumstances for the behavior. “You’re evil,” he spoke, his voice breaking and barely above a whisper as he struggled to keep his emotions in check. The lack of any real signs of remorse from Jess only made it all the harder. He’d never thought she was capable of something like this.
Hearing Quinn speak once more, Sam nodded along in reply to her. He didn’t really have anything to say right now, but he knew she would understand his lack of verbal communication. They would come back for the crib, but right now Sam was no longer in the right frame of mind to be buying things. He needed to be home, where he could process and grieve the loss. Or, grieve the lack of loss? Whatever it was he was supposed to do when finding out the child he thought was his, really wasn’t actually his. “Can you drive?” he asked softly once they had left the store. He was not in a good place to be getting behind the wheel of a car.

essentiallyquinn:
Quinn nodded. “We’ll start with the crib and go from there.” That was the important part anyhow. There was a while before they had to worry about their child sleeping in it. Even after they were born Quinn figured they would sleep in a bassinet in their room just because it would make those late night feedings a little easier if they didn’t have to keep walking back and forth. Even five extra minutes of sleep with a newborn she figured would be a win. That was what everyone always said anyway. In a lot of ways she figured the nursery was more for them than the baby since it would be a few years before they even realized most of it but she still liked to think they would make a space that was cozy for them all.
“I wish we could too,” and really they could but Quinn figured maybe it would be best to wait. Then again maybe it wouldn’t be. She wasn’t sure how long they would be able to keep it a secret anyhow considering… Especially once one person found out. Things like news of a pregnancy tended to spread quickly once the cat was out of the bag. Their families would be calling each other quickly. It would be better though once their families knew and they were able to share the excitement with them. “We have to think of a way to tell them too…” It was another thing they had to work on.
Quinn gave Sam’s hand a small squeeze knowing that it has to be hard but there were people staring at them now after his little outburst. The middle of a store was probably not the place to be having this conversation. At the woman’s words she had to stop and stare, she was joking right? However there was something that told her she wasn’t kidding. Something in Jess’s face told her she was tired of the games and the lying. “You are joking right?” Quinn asked knowing it had to be asked. When the girl was slow to answer she couldn’t help but curse under her breath.
Sam just nodded in agreement with Quinn’s words. It made sense. And at least there was one thing out of the way for later on. If they slowly bought everything then there would be less stress later on, and Sam already knew that in the long run that would be better for Quinn and the baby. It wasn’t good for her to be stressed whilst she was pregnant, and he assumed even more important the further along she got. He was still pretty sad about having to keep their baby a secret though, he was never any good at secrets. And he knew his family would be over the moon about the new addition.
He could just see them all now. His mother and father wanting to spoil the little one rotten, probably before he or she even arrived, Stevie and Stacie would no doubt be fighting over the gender and about who would be the better Aunt or Uncle. His grandparents would be happy to know that Sam was happy and would also be loving to be around to see their first great-grandchild. It would be a happy ordeal. Now, they just had to wait a few more weeks until they were out of the super risky trimester. Once Quinn was into the second trimester they would be able to let everyone know the happy news. “Crap... we do.” Sam didn’t want it to be some lame way, he wanted to be creative about it. It was probably the most important thing to work out for the time being now that Sam thought about it a moment. “It needs to be amazing.”
It was comforting having Quinn right there beside him, and her squeeze of his hand did manage to calm him some. She was always able to calm him some. But not enough that he gave a damn about anyone looking at him in the store. He wanted an answer for Jess. And even though she didn’t exactly give one in words, her facial expression was enough to tell him everything he needed to know. “Why would you do that?” he asked, his voice broken as suddenly tears threatened to spill. He wouldn’t allow them to though, at least not now in front of Jess, and not in public. “Was this some sort of cruel joke to get back at me?” If so, it was an awful thing to do. Sam was completely shattered. It was like someone had torn his heart straight out of his chest and stomped on it. He’d never felt so much pain in his life.

“Long as it’s not too girly.” Quinn liked nice things but she had never been that into princesses and overly girly things. A little girl however she figured would love it. She would love having a little canopy over her crib and butterflies on the wall. Surely somewhere they would find an idea that they both could love for their little one if it turned out to be a little girl. The nursery was something they could work on as they went along. “We’ll look and see what we can find. What ideas we like and don’t like. Maybe we could blend a few of them together for something a little more personal.” Boy or girl they could do that.
They had a few weeks but Quinn was already excited at the idea of finding out what they were having. There would be no waiting for them because she couldn’t wait the full nine months to know. They had a nursery to plan and put together, names had to be picked out and it was more fun to shop when they knew. “One more thing…” Quinn told him as she reached for a stuffed giraffe that was sitting on the shelf. It was too adorable not to bring home with them. It was yellow so it would work for a little girl too. If it didn’t fit the theme of the room they could always save it for something else. They would find a place for it.
Quinn bit down on her lip as she listened to the other girl’s outburst. Clearly she had to be joking. It was really unnecessary because she knew Sam loved their baby just as much. Not like it was his fault that Jess wasn’t around or didn’t make herself available to him and allow them to help. Like it or not they were always going to be in his son’s life. And yet she was still standing there insisting she was serious. Surely she was just trying to hurt Sam… “Sam… Maybe we should go? Let Jess calm down a little bit.” Clearly all she cared about now was hurting Sam which wasn’t fair to him. “You know when she finally wants to stop playing these childish games.”
It wasn’t going to be anything over the top. While Sam wanted the feminine touch to their child’s room if it was a girl, he didn’t roll with choosing pink for a reason. If he wanted over the top girly, then that’s what he would have gone with. At the same time, it was possible that a little girl would want their room to be all pretty and pink the way Sam and Quinn didn’t want it to be. Sam did like Quinn’s suggestion though. “Yeah, that sounds like a smart thing to do,” he agreed with a nod of his head. “It’s not like we don’t have time to work things out anyway. We have a lot of time before we even know whether we’re having a little girl or a boy, so we really don’t have to rush. We can get the crib though. I really like this one.”
Sam smiled as Quinn picked out the stuffed animal and gva e asmall nod of approval. He liked what she had chosen. It was perfect for either a girl or a boy. “I wish we could start telling people already,” he said, giving a pout. It sucked having to keep such a big thing from his family. That was really the hardest part. Sam knew that his mom would be over the moon to be a grandmother, twice in such a short amount of time; because of course he had already told them about Jess. But now he wanted to tell them about Quinn. Of course they were excited about the baby, but he could tell they weren’t really happy with it at the same time. With Quinn, his fiancee, they would surely be happier about it. They were always so firm on wanting him to be with the mother of his children. And really, that’s what Sam had wanted too.
Even with that, he couldn’t help the way his stomach dropped the more serious Jess seemed about the situation. Maybe she was just doing it to try and get under his skin. If so, she was doing a damn good job. “Tell me you’re not serious!?” Sam burst out suddenly, not really hearing what Quinn had said. Not because he was ignoring her or anything, but simply because he was more focused on Jess. It was like in a matter of seconds his ex had gone from being outraged, to completely calm and collected and it scared the crap out of Sam. Missing Quinn’s first comment, he did however pick up on the second comment. “This is some sort of sick joke, right?”

She nodded because that was the crib she would pick if she had her choice. A lot of the other one were nice but this one was the best and it did look good. Whatever they went with for the room it would work and really, they could plan the room around it if they had to. There were so many options and colors out there to choose from. Thankfully they had a while before they had to come to any kind of decision about the room. Even then Sam would have to do all the hard stuff like the painting and stuff because of the smell and fumes of the paint. Decorating though would be the thing they could do together other than the shopping for all their baby things.
“I like purple. A lot more than I like pink.” That was for sure. There was just something about the color that she didn’t like in excess. Surely people would buy them a lot of pink things come time for their baby shower. No way were they adding to it. “I like the jungle theme for a boy… You can get all kinds of wall sticker things that are animals or trees. Maybe if we did the room green and then the accent wall with some kind of jungle theme?” It seemed to work in her head at least. “Could always do a light green for a girl and do the scene a meadow with butterflies sand flowers?” Again they would have to see what was available but they would figure something out.
Okay, they had been planning it kind of. Not exactly right this moment but they had wanted a baby. Quinn decided not to split the hair though because they really didn’t need to. Nothing they were ever going to say was going to please Jess and suddenly make her more civil towards them. She could see the rage boiling underneath her calm exterior. Though Quinn didn’t know what to say when Jess snapped at them not to bother because it didn’t matter; that it didn’t matter because the baby wasn’t Sam’s. Quinn looked from her to Sam and then back giving Sam’s hand a squeeze. She didn’t know if she should believe her or if she was just mad and jealous they were there shopping for their baby.
It was settled, they would get the crib for their little one before leaving the store. Something that was supposed to be small wound up being something fairly major, but that was okay. They had plans for it and knew what they were going to do with it, so that was never a bad thing. Plus it meant they were just one step closer to being prepared to welcome the little one into the world. Even if they had what was surely going to feel like forever until the youngster came. They could surely still pick out some sort of toy if that’s what Quinn wanted to do too. Sam wanted to spoil his children, they were going to have the world, and then some. So a crib and a teddy all in one day was no big deal.
This was where it was awesome that he and Quinn were generally on the same page with things like this. There were no arguments about the patterns and the designs of the rooms and such, because they usually had a pretty similar idea. Or if one had something different, they were able to blend the two together to make the perfect arrangement. “I would kinda prefer to have something a little girlier for a little girl,” he answered softly. Green for a girl wouldn’t be awful, but he really liked having the more feminine touch to the room. That was just his personal want. Sam was pretty handy with a paint brush, a hidden talent almost, so something with butterflies and flowers wouldn’t be hard for him to do if that’s what they chose. Plus, it made the room more personal, Sam thought, if he did it himself.
Sam couldn’t believe the way Jess snapped so suddenly. He had never seen this side to his best friend before. Though, whether he was still allowed to refer to her as his best friend was another thing in question. She was pretty mad it him, obviously. Not that she wasn’t allowed to be or anything, he’d just thought she would have been a little nicer for the sake of their child. Though with her little outburst in the shop, apparently is wasn’t even his? “Are you kidding me?” He knew she was mad, but that was taking things a little too far. “Jess, that’s nothing funny to joke about. Even if you’re pissed off.” Though he still wasn’t one hundred percent sure why she was even mad. He was allowed to buy things for his and Quinn’s baby.

Quinn raised an eyebrow at him. “Hey, lets not go for twelve.” A few she was okay with but she didn’t think they would ever want a dozen of them. They needed to get through this pregnancy first before they started thinking about another but she was sure somewhere down the line they would. “Yeah…” Quinn looked at them a moment before deciding in an instant they were a death trap. “Looks like one good jump on them by an energetic baby and it would come crashing down.” Most kids learned to climb out of their crib but Quinn didn’t want theirs to learn by it collapsing underneath them. They were certainly going to be getting their baby a wooden one even if it was a little more expensive.
At his words she nodded. “Besides it can always be decorated with the right crib set and stuff.” It would work either way for a boy or a girl once they knew what they were having. “Just promise me if we’re having a girl it won’t be like some pink crayon threw up in the room.” It was a color Quinn liked but she didn’t love. For some reason little girls always had too much pink. It was overwhelming and there were really other colors out there. She could see maybe having a room with pink accents but nothing overly pink. Blue however was a color she didn’t mind and there were so many different shades if they were having a boy. Boys could also go with green too. There were just too many options. “Though I admit this is kind of hard when you don’t know… I am not sure how people go nine months without knowing.” A lot of people did but Quinn didn’t want to be one of them. She wanted everything picked out and done before the birth of their baby.
And just like that their secret was out to the one person that probably didn’t want to hear it. Quinn could see the twitch in Jess’s temple that meant she was upset or maybe it was more a jealous anger. Quinn didn’t see why considering she was having her own baby with Sam. Surely the two of them being pregnant at the same time wasn’t in the plan. It hadn’t been their plan either. It hardly surprised her when Jess asked since when. Quinn could hear the malice in her voice. “It was kind of a surprise…” Quinn told the girl trying to soothe the situation a little bit. She could imagine what the girl was thinking, that they had to go out and get pregnant like she was but that hadn’t even been their concern at the moment. Without warning there was the tirade about Sam not caring enough for their child to actually buy him something. But Jess hadn’t actually told them what she wanted because she knew Sam would have found a way to get it for him.
So, maybe twelve would be going a little bit over the top, but she had started it really. Sam was just playing along. He was glad that Quinn didn’t mind having to spend that little bit extra money on a crib though, because there was no way Sam was going to be okay with having a virtual death trap for their little one. It was going to be nothing but the best for their little one. “So, this is the one you want then?” he asked once more. If he were being honest, he was hoping she’d say yes, because Sam had kind of set his sights on it. And once Sam wanted something, there wasn’t much changing his mind on it. At the same time though, Quinn could be quite the same in that sense. “Exactly. It’ll look totally fine.”
He had to agree with not having the room pink if it were for a little girl. Stacie had had her room pink all her life, and Sam felt like he was going to be blinded whenever he entered it. “I was kinda thinking like, a nice light purple?” He had thought just a little bit about how he would have liked the baby’s room to be once they found out the gender. “Like a nice lilac or something like that?” That’s right, he had even gone to measures of looking up actual colors. “Maybe we could have pink on the skirting? Then like, butterflies or something nice like that?” As for a boy, he kind of didn’t want to go with the typical blue, either. If they were thinking somewhat out of the box for a little girl, he wanted to take the same consideration for a little boy. “And then for a boy I was thinking maybe more of a green? Jungle theme? Or a nice red with race cars. What do you think?” They had plenty of time to plan, but thinking ahead never hurt.
“We were planning this,” he spoke as Quinn mentioned their baby being a surprise. Not that they had any obligation to explain themselves really. It wasn’t like Sam wasn’t going to try his best to be involved in the child he was having with Jess’ life. It was just a little bit harder. And Jess didn’t make it any easier with the way she was treating him. He was hoping with the baby on the way, that maybe she would at least be a little more civil. Instead she did this, seeking out any way to lash out at them as she could. Acting like he didn’t care about his child or something when that wasn’t true, not at all. “Was there anything you want me to get for h-..” Sam didn’t even make it through his sentence before Jess was cutting in telling him not to even bother.

“Why don’t you want like twelve children,” she joked seeing as there was at least a dozen different cribs on display before them. Some were cheaper plastic, some were crafted of nice wood and some where some hybrid of the two. They needed a nice one and Quinn figured it would be a good investment because they could use it for their other children when they got around to having them. In no way did she imagine the two of them having just one unless some complication or reason why they couldn’t arose. It just didn’t fit with their plans for their future. “We could find room for them. Haven’t you ever seen some of those bunk beds they build into walls like they have on Pintrest?” Not that she wanted a dozen kids but it was fun to tease him about.
Quinn glanced over to the stuffed animals and looked at them unable to make a quick decision. The giraffe was cute but so was the teddy bear but it was blue so that was out for now. Jungle theme would be cute but that screamed more boy to her than little girl. For a little girl she was already thinking butterflies or something a little more natural and girly in theme. “Yeah, I kind of do like this color.” She told him gravitating towards the darker wood one. “I thought I’d like a lighter color but…” She wrinkled her face a bit. “Seems kind of dull doesn’t it?” There were ways to dress them up, crib sheets and bumper sets, but for some reason the darker wood was drawing her eye. It was steady too which was important because it had to be safe.
“You really wouldn’t mind getting a crib first?” Not that she minded, it was an excuse to start getting things for their nursery together. Something told her that they wouldn’t be waiting like they planned to at least get started on things for their little one. Though before she could hear his answer Quinn heard someone address them from behind. Jess. Internally she cringed because she knew how it would look the two of them standing in the baby section where they supposedly had no reason to be really. “Jess,” Quinn opened her mouth to address the girl but she cut them off as she pointed out to Sam that she had already picked out a crib she expected him to buy so there was no need to look. Course she would think they were there looking for the baby her and Sam were having.
“Hey, I mean we can have like twelve on them if you want. But I’m pretty sure they’ll only be coming one at a time. So there really isn’t a need for twelve cribs,” he answered back with a chuckle and a shrug of his shoulders. Honestly, Sam was willing to give Quinn whatever her heart desired. He was fairly certain that it wasn’t actually twelve children, but if she changed her mind and wanted more than first spoken about, then he was willing to be a little lenient. “But I don’t like the looks of those ones,” he informed her as he gestured towards the plastic ones. He liked the idea of the wooden crib. It just seemed more practical and safer for their little one.
Everything was so much harder to decide on when there was so much there to choose from. It made it even harder when it needed to be gender neutral. Not because of the quantity of things for that though, mainly because most things seemed to suit better for either a girl or a boy. There weren’t many toys that Sam could see both a little boy or a little girl having and actually wanting to play with. He was glad she wanted to go with the darker wood though, that’s what h had been hoping for. It looked nicer to him, and it was going to be less likely to get stained when the baby got to the sticky hands stage. If the youngster was going to be in it for the first couple of years, then it was bound to happen and the last thing Sam wanted was a hand stained crib. “I like how you’re thinking.” Sam nodded his head. “I was thinking more so, so it doesn’t get like all gross and dirty. Like the wood. It’ll all be better covered with the darker color. Don’t you think?”
Sam could hardly believe what he was hearing as he heard the sound of Jess’ voice behind them right as he was about to open his mouth to answer Quinn’s question. This was awkward. Even more so when she immediately made mention about the fact that she had already chosen a crib that she wanted for their baby. He supposed he didn’t have much of a choice but to drop the bomb that he and Quinn were having one also. Bringing a hand up, he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “Uh,” he started, though wasn’t exactly sure how to come out with it. Was he just supposed to say it? “I wasn’t really looking for our baby....,” he started. Of course Jess proceeded to look at him weird. “I’m looking for mine and Quinn’s baby. We need to start getting a nursery set up. Um, which one did you like though? I mean, I can come back next week or something and get it or something. I guess. I am just getting the one for Q and my bub.”

There wasn’t even a need to ask as Quinn looped her arm through Sam’s and tugged him towards the baby section in the mostly empty store. It was later than they usually shopped but she couldn’t help it. Even though it had only been a few weeks her maternal instincts were already kicking in. The allure of teddy bears, baby blankets and cute outfits was too much. Reasonably she would say it was just to price baby stuff, she had no idea how much it cost, truth was she just wanted to look at the cute stuff they could buy for their little peanut.
“There is so much stuff for babies,” she noted as she looked around not really sure where she wanted to start. There was a section full of diapers and bottles, cribs and blankets, bath stuff, and everything else a baby could possibly use. Because it was closest she wandered towards the cribs knowing that would be the one big thing they purchased. Surely one of their family members would get it for them if they asked but she kind of wanted it to be something they got for their little one. “I want to take it all home with me now.” That would jumping the gun a little bit but Quinn still wanted to.
“Maybe we could pick out a stuffed animal and something little?” There was no way she was getting out of there with nothing. The first things for their baby should be something the two of them bought. “What do you think?” She asked Sam as she turned to look at him running her fingertips over the smoothness of the woo as she tried not to bounce too much with excitement. They still had a lot of time before their baby was there but she was already so excited by the idea of it.
Walking to the baby section of the store was supposed to be just a novelty trip for Quinn. She had been pretty excited about the baby, and it was pretty clear that she wanted to get something for their little one. Of course, deep down though, Sam was just as excited to get something for the baby. In his head, he had even gone as far as starting to plan out a few ways that they could do up the nursery. They had agreed to wait until a little bit later when they could find out the gender of the baby, but he couldn’t help but think about it.
“Mhmm, there is,” he agreed as he looked around. It was actually pretty crazy just how much a child needed. Sam couldn’t wait to buy it all though. First though, they would need to start something small. Maybe something like a unisex jumpsuit, or a gender neutral crib. Okay so that wasn’t little, but the sooner they were able to get those majorly important things out of the way, the less Sam would stress out about them. More importantly, he would then be able to work out a way to help out Jess with the one they would need for that baby. It was difficult, having to take care of two pregnant women. “I think taking all the cribs would be a little much, babe,” he teased gently. “I mean we got room in the house, but not that much room.”
“Yeah, a stuffed animal sounds like a nice start,” he answered softly, though looked towards the crib that Quinn was currently touching. “Do you like that color?” he asked curiously. It was wood, so it could easily pass for either a girl or a boy. They would just put in a nice pink, or maybe blue blanket depending on the baby’s gender. “I kinda like this color.” Sam could tell she was excited. It was cute, and he couldn’t help but smile at his fiancee. “We don’t have to start small if you see something you really like. I mean, if it won’t matter what we’re having to get it.”

Quinn shot him a look. “Don’t even say that Sam.” Even thinking of some of the strange combinations she had heard other pregnant woman wanting made her want to throw up. Definitely she hoped that their baby did not make her want something that was really kind of gross and unusual. “Hopefully it’ll be something easy like pancakes or peanut butter or ice cream… Or just something reasonable.” Quinn knew there was no way to tell but she was hopeful that it wouldn’t be as bad as the horror stories. “I promise though love, I’ll try not to make you throw up with my food.” That was something she could promise him.
“Oh God, we’re going to aren’t we.” She said with a laugh knowing they would get the book and read it together. It was cliché but it was probably a good idea since neither of them really knew what to expect or what to do to ensure their baby was healthy. Sure there were common sense things like no alcohol and certain other foods along with her vitamins but Quinn wasn’t sure beyond that. No one she knew closely had ever been pregnant. “Oh, they definitely have.” Quinn agreed because they had. There had been days she had made a mental note that she needed a new bra but she had just figured it was something else other than pregnancy. It didn’t change however that she needed a few new ones that actual fit without making her feel like she was going to fall out of the bra itself. “Will we really?” Even though Sam had said it Quinn couldn’t help but be excited. She wanted to hear that little heartbeat. It would make waiting all the harder though.
“Then why don’t you keep the truck.” In her mind it was as simple as that. “We can always take my car if we need to take the baby somewhere. If we need more room we can always take both vehicles.” The only thing that was probably going to be big enough for Pan was his truck. The dog was monster. Even with the whole backseat of her car to himself Quinn felt like the big dog was uncomfortable when they brought him to the vet or something. It was something they could figure out and she didn’t want Sam to have to give up his truck if he didn’t want to. “I am not getting a mini-van if that’s what you’re thinking either.” That was where she drew the line. She was going to be a mother but she didn’t have to be that soccer mom type though.
“Well it’s totally possible, okay!?” he chuckled at her being so against the cravings thing. “My mom told me that when she was pregnant with me, she would eat peanut butter on rice crackers.” Just reciting what he had been told, Sam crinkled up his nose. It didn’t sound very pleasant at all. “And my mom hates rice crackers,” he added just for the extra affect of just how gross it was. “And when she was pregnant with Stace I remember she used to have pickles dipped in chocolate sauce.” Boy did Sam hope Quinn didn’t have weird cravings like that. There was no way he would be able to watch her eating crazy things like that without needed to go and puke. “Thank you,” he answered to her promise.
“It’s totally the best resource we’re gonna have if we find ourselves like, questioning something,” he answered logically. They would need guides like that for certain. They were first time parents, there were going to be many things they were going to be unsure about, and Sam didn’t want to be having to ring his parents all the time whenever he had a query about something - not that he could even do that for the first trimester anyway, he didn’t want to tell them and get them excited about having a grandchild on the way only for something to go wrong. Sam was almost ashamed in himself for not having noticed. It was definitely something he thought he would have noticed. Then again, he was pretty well trained to not comment on those sorts of things even if he had noticed. “Yeah, we really will,” he confirmed with a grin. He was excited to hear the little one’s heart beating for the first time.
“I don’t wanna have to always take your car to go out with the baby. What if you’re like, not home or something and then I need to go some place with him or her? I can hardly take the truck. Can we afford to just get a new car and keep the truck too? I mean we’re not in any debt for the truck. And we have enough room in the driveway for another one.” It seemed like the best option to Sam, but he wasn’t sure if Quinn was really going to be willing to go for it too. Still, it was worth suggesting. He couldn’t help but laugh at her comment, shaking his head, “We’re not getting a minivan. Plus, it’s only one baby, totally not needing a huge car anyway. We just need enough room for the capsule, which your car has.”

“I hope I am right too,” Quinn added with an apprehensive laugh. Lord, she hoped she wasn’t one of those women that had a horrible pregnancy. Already she felt sick quite a bit and tired more than she cared to admit. The one thing that made it more bearable was that it would be over in another month hopefully and that at the end they would have a beautiful baby. “Just think in another month hopefully I’ll feel more like a normal human being. A very hungry human,” she joked hoping to lighten the topic a little bit. It just meant that they would have to keep a healthy supply of food in their house at all times just in case the mood to eat struck her.
Quinn nodded as she shifted the truck into drive and give Sam a smile her eyes flickering over to him before back to the road. “We’ll have plenty of time to get everything done.” Little at a time and besides, there was going to be a lot to do. Babies needed a lot of things. They also needed space too. Quinn had a feeling that their nursery was going to take them a while to put together for it to be perfect. They both wanted everything to be perfect for their little one. It was surprising to her how much she could already love someone so much and just found out about them. It would be months before they could even feel a kick, know the gender or even hold their baby.
When Sam said he wanted to get rid of his truck Quinn couldn’t help but look at him a moment as she came to a stop at the stop sign. “They do make trucks with backseats.” She told him knowing how much Sam loved having a truck. It wasn’t practical for a baby sure but they could maybe trade it in for one that was a little more baby friendly. If Sam wanted something else they could find him something else as well. “It’s up to you.” They could always use her car for family outings too. “I know how much you love your truck.” With their dogs and a baby they were certainly going to have a full house.
Food Sam could deal with. It wouldn’t be so hard to get her something she was craving to eat, it was however difficult to do that right now when most things made her want to puke, even things that had been completely fine for her to eat before now sometimes even gauged the reaction of throwing up. And Sam hated that. If h had to go out to the store at a ridiculous time of night because she was hungry and wanting to eat something, he would deal with it happily. It beat her being unwell any day. “Lets just hope that bean doesn’t make you wanna eat weird stuff that’s gonna make me wanna throw up instead.”
It was cute how it seemed like Quinn was looking for reassurance in regards to how she was driving his truck. He trusted her, and he knew she was able to handle the vehicle. With her driving, Sam was now able to focus more on his phone and looking some things up. “I think we need to get that what to expect when you’re expecting book, babe,” he informed as he scrolled a little on his phone. “That’s what most parents-to-be read, right?” At least, it was the site he was on right now. “It says your boobs have probably got bigger.” Strange, that was something Sam thought it would have noticed. After a pause, he found what he was really wanting to know first. “We will be able to hear the heartbeat when you have your first scan!”
It wasn’t going to be the same with a backseat, plus Sam could hardly imagine one with still enough room to comfortably fit a child. But he supposed they could always look into it. He really did love his truck. Even if they did just buy a new one, it still wasn’t going to be his truck. It would never be the one he rebuilt with his dad, it would never be the one he’d had since he had been able to get behind the wheel. “I dunno. I can’t get rid of this baby.” As he spoke, a hand moved to rub along the dash. “How am I gonna find a car with enough space for the baby, and enough room for like, the dogs if we take ‘em places?” He had to look at things rationally.

Quinn shook her head with a small laugh as she climbed into Sam’s truck. He was clearly excited considering she very rarely got to drive his truck; it was Sam’s baby. It had been so long since she had even driven a truck. “It’s not going to be that way, I am sure.” Quinn reassured him because it really couldn’t be that awful the entire time she was pregnant. It just couldn’t. “But just think soon enough you’ll trade all that in for strange cravings and midnight store runs.” It was easy for her to say now that she wouldn’t be one of those pregnant ladies that sent their partner out chasing all kinds of things but she couldn’t say it wouldn’t be like that. “Babies are very demanding even before they’re born,” Quinn teased.
“We can wait a little while, there will be plenty of time to do all that.” More like Sam would do most of it depending on how she was feeling at the time and Quinn would supervise. She wasn’t sure she could do any painting anyhow. Still she wanted to help with whatever she could because it was her baby too. “We’ll get the laptop out and see what we can find. Even if we’re only getting ideas for what we want for our baby.” Baby stuff was something tere was tons of and all different kinds. They would figure it out though.
“Lets do one of each just in case. Who knows what we’ll end up with,” Quinn knew some women just had a feeling at what they were having but right now she wasn’t quite sure. There were case too where sonograms were wrong too. She didn’t want to find out eight months in that they weren’t having what they thought they were having. “My family is all girls though…” She pointed out just because she wanted to play devil’s advocate a little. “A little boy would be so perfect though…” She could see them with a little boy and doing things like playing football and getting dirty. “But imagine having a little girl…” Quinn wanted a girl at some point in their lives. The little dresses, shoes and having a cute little blonde in pigtails following them around. “Any healthy baby really…” It was a lot to picture them with any baby but she kind of could already.
Sam was glad that Quinn sounded so sure about all of this, because he wasn’t. He had heard about those sorts of things - women having to deal with morning sickness their whole pregnancy, and even heartburn he had heard of before too - but he had always thought those sorts of things were myths, or super rare that not many had to deal with. “I hope you’re right about that.” He wasn’t going to mind running to the store for weird things that Quinn craved though. It was all a part of the real pregnancy experience in his opinion. Sure, he would probably complain about it when he was actually having to do it, but he would love it deep down. It was something he wasn’t going to get to do with Jess. In fact, most things involving a pregnancy he wasn’t going to experience with Jess and their baby, which is what made it all the more exciting with Quinn.
“We don’t need to rush into everything. I mean, we still have like, months until the baby actually comes, so we can take our time with some stuff.” He really wanted things to be perfect for their baby. There wasn’t any rush with the baby names, either. It would be cool if they were able to come up with them soon-ish, but there wasn’t really any immediate rush. Quinn had a really good point on the girl thing. But he was pretty certain the gender of the baby all came down to the man, right? If he had remembered anything from those sex education classes in high school, he was pretty certain that’s how it worked.
“As long as the little one is healthy, it really won’t matter,” he agreed with a nod of his head and a smile. As Quinn started the truck, he watched her for a moment, seeing how well she managed with the vehicle before turning his attention to his phone when he was comfortable that she was okay. After scrolling for a moment, he set down his phone. “We have to get rid of the truck,” he blurted out suddenly, letting out a sigh after. A truck was no vehicle for a child. There was no room in the truck, they couldn’t really put a car capsule into it. The baby needed a capsule.

Quinn couldn’t help but grin at his excitement. It seemed to bubble right out of him and was infectious. “We’ll figure it all out,” she told Sam because they would. They would know everything they needed to know in order to do this the right way. “Let me have the keys and I’ll drive home.” She told him holding her hand out to him. Sure Sam could drive while she looked things up but it wouldn’t be the same if he didn’t get to do it and Quinn wanted him to have that chance. Sam was so excited. “As for the morning sickness I think it’s usually after the first trimester usually… Lets not jinx it and say never.” True some women did have morning sickness all the time but she was crossing her fingers and toes that she wouldn’t be one of those women.
Their nursery; the thought alone of having to get that ready made her grin because it would be one of the best parts. It was a space that would belong solely to their baby when they arrived. “We could always pick out something neutral?” There were a lot of cute things people did that could work for either a boy or a girl. This way they could get started and not have to wait like another two months until they were sure of what they were having to get started on preparing. “I mean there’s all kind of neutral things like animal theme, beach theme or something…” Now she was going to have to go on Pintrest and see what is out there. “We can always add that to our things to look up.” They were getting quite the list already.
“We probably should start now,” if it was anything like what most people went through they were going to need a while to find that perfect name. Quinn wanted their baby to have a name that was uniquely theirs but wasn’t so odd that someone would pick on them later for it. She wanted something pretty for a girl and strong and respectable for a boy. What that was she wouldn’t know until she heard it. “I don’t mind Luke or Jake,” they were names she could potentially learn to love. Quinn knew why Sam was considering them but she was okay with having his reference in the name long as it wasn’t something odd or funny. “Not so sure I love Leia though.” It just didn’t sit right on her tongue. Leia Evans sounded alright but Quinn didn’t love it like she would expect to when it came to her baby’s name. “Don’t ask, I don’t know.” She told him with a laugh knowing he was going to want to know what names she liked or even type of names.
Sam was glad when Quinn didn’t really argue too much over driving home. It would be interesting seeing how she would manage driving his truck, the gears stuck sometimes and you had to step on the clutch fairly hard, but he was certain it would be cute watching her try to adjust. Leaning down, he pressed a quick peck to her lips, something he’d been dying to do for ages now. “Thank you! I love you.” Sam hadn’t moved so quick in longer than he could remember than what he did to get into the vehicle. The quicker he was in the truck, the quicker he was able to begin reading up and learning the things he needed to know about the pregnancy. “I hope you don’t end up with morning sickness the whole way through. It would totally suck and I don’t like seeing you like that. All worn out and not being able to eat stuff, it was awful.”
“I think we should still wait for the painting. I wasn’t it to be really nice for him or her. And we could like, get a nice white crib or something like that so it wouldn’t matter too much what color the walls and stuff are.” It’s not that he really thought having a gender neutral room would be a bad thing or anything, he just wanted something that would be at least a little more personal for the baby. “We could start shopping for stuff when we get home.” Really, Sam probably should have gone back into work now that he knew Quinn wasn’t dying or anything, there were still a few classes he would have been able to make for the day, but he much rathered being with Quinn right now. He wanted to revel in the happiness of finding out he was having a baby. Or... having a baby with the woman he intended on having a baby with.
The naming thing was definitely going to be difficult. Sam knew that Quinn probably wasn’t going to want their child named after a superhero or something like that, but there was never any harm in at least trying. It was what they had the time for, to find something they were both happy with. “So you don’t mind them... hut you don’t love them. They’re out.” If Quinn, or even himself to any names she suggested didn’t immediately sound perfect, then Sam didn’t want to pick it. “Should we like, just start thinking of a girl and boy name? Or like, go on an instinct and guess what gender it is? I think a boy. My dad has two brothers, and he had two boys and a girl. So it’s totally a boy.” It was far too early to be guessing, but Sam was doing it anyway.
