Alice was once one of B.renner’s subjects, given the number 010. She had the ability to bring anything she could imagine to life, and it was once quite a beautiful display of power, calling the place she pulled these 'imaginary' people and things from “W.onderland”. The longer she was stuck in the lab and subject to his experimentation, however, the more it began to twist and warp her W.onderland.

Over time, she started to retreat into herself, becoming unresponsive to not only the tests and puzzles she was assigned, but to B.renner and to even her peers. She’d only say that she was “escaping to W.onderland” in these times of her silence and solitude. The final time she retreats to W.onderland, she finds it's all turned into something horrific, directly reflecting her mental state at this point. It’s all fallen apart and all her friends have turned against her, and in her desperation to escape and come back to reality she accidentally creates and falls into a small gate directly to the U.pside D.own. So, she spends years learning to live, or rather to survive, in the U.pside D.own. It’s not until the arrival of another child in 1983 that she believes she might finally a way out of here, but she keeps her distance from the boy so as not to scare him any further. She does, however, keep him as safe as she can from a distance, luring the monsters away from him.

When the boy is saved by who she can only assume are his parents, Alice tails as closely behind as she can without detection. She knows, however, that she can't follow directly behind them. She knows that doing so will only lead to those at the lab grabbing her again. So she braves one more night in the U.pside D.own, and then she opens the gate herself and escapes silently the next day.

Despite the terrors she’s experienced, she does consider herself lucky to have been stranded in the U.pside D.own for so long. All searches for her were surely called off by now, or they’d simply assumed that she had perished and pronounced her dead. That, and she’d be almost unrecognizable now. She was 12, only a child when she got lost : she’s 17 now, going on to adulthood. So many years lost to the horrors, but, that is the price of freedom.

This allows Alice to achieve her desire of having as normal of a life as she possibly can. She’s adopted by the Liddell family with little to no questions asked, as all they see is a young, traumatized girl, obviously one who had gone through something terrible. They will say that she is their niece that they've taken in following the passing of an estranged, distant sibling. And so with that, she gets to go to school, she gets to live as normal of a teenage life as she possibly can muster and does her best to forget the past. She'd even swear off ever using her powers again, but it will eventually become evident that this cannot remain true as the U.pside D.own continues to spill into the real world. Especially after her family are flayed in the summer of '85. Luckily, she is old enough now to care for herself, but it doesn’t make it any easier. The trouble is : the more she dips into the ruins of W.onderland, the more she uses her power in a silent attempt to help, the more she loses touch with reality. There are some days where the lines blur and she’s not quite sure what to believe.

While W.onderland and the U.pside Down exist independently of each other, her abilities and the corruption of her internal W.onderland have leaked into the U.pside D.own, just as she finds that the d.emogorgons and other such beasts leaked into her W.onderland. Things from her W.onderland can even leak into H.awkins at times if she isn’t careful.

Since she isn’t tryna use her powers at all she does try to dismiss all the weird shit happening post her escape in season 1 through season 3, and then blames herself for the death of her parents when they’re flayed. She is assigned to a psychiatrist (Dr. B.umby -_-) after their deaths to address the trauma, as it can be assumed by outsiders that losing her parents a second time within such a short span would be impossible to bear. When she decides that she'll open up and finally reveal the truth about everything ; her powers, B.renner, the U.pside D.own, etc. B.umby deems her insane, and there is an attempt to send her directly to an asylum. She fears and detests the idea of being locked up again, obviously, and uses her powers then and there once more in defense. It kills him, and she thinks surely now they'll take her away for good, so she makes quick work of making it seem as though it was a heart attack that had led to his demise. It's suspicious though, but with little to no evidence she could have done something, there's not much else to be done. An eye is kind of kept on her though. Weird chick, weird sudden appearance in H.awkins, etc. etc. She just. Wants to be normal tho :(

and yes i AM giving her plot armor due to i don't want to send her to the asylum i want to write her with you guys jfhdskfhdsk i can do whatever i want you literally can't stop me whatEVER whatever. considering source material and how i still want it all to resemble it i have done THE BEST THAT I CAN!
