Doing some research for DnD character reasons and, man. I've always disliked how gods are depicted in DnD based fantasy books, but hot dang this is such a massive clusterfuck of all my least favourite tropes and stuff and my pagan arse is just squicked so bad like.
This is an absolute dung pile of several decades worth of a morally black and white fighting game built on very weird set of pantheon that disregards how actual religions work, how cultures work, and wants to have its cake while eating it too with treating its gods as simultaneously a rogues gallery of heroes and villains as well as xtianity-like omnipotense and blind worship and I haaaaaaaaate it. So bad.
So gods have worshippers that are all very devout because that's how worship works I guess, but if you worship an evil alignment god then you're evil cultist and a bad guy and hey guess what, the goddess of oceans is chaotic evil! (Her title according to this wiki is even the Bitch Queen. Fuck you.) As well as most other ocean related deities, because sea monsters are cool to fight! So hey, my character has a background of sailing so fuck me I guess. (The non-evil options are a former actual sea captain who won a bet against said sea goddess and ascended and now is just a dude who, while benevolent because of good-alignment-by-technicality, mostly ignores his worshipers; a god of water-as-an-elemental-plane because classical elements of air-water-fire-earth are universal I guess; and a definetely good water goddess, who's all gentle and stuff because good alignment and who's titles include stuff like Mother of Water and stuff, but which is implied to be the deity of inland waters like lakes, rivers and streams etc.)
What is nuance anyway, you can't fit that into a stat sheet you know.
Hate it!

tagged by @vintar for “ten songs you’re vibing to right now”!
ok, i gotta tell you just how EXCITED i was when i got tagged in this, because
i saw it earlier this week, just as me and a friend were talking about our misspent youths, which for both of us involved an awful lot of “stockpiling dope midi file versions of various anime theme songs,” right
and i was like “bro i still have my WHOLE COLLECTION,” and we spent a VERY pleasant evening nostalgia’ing over the tracks i found, and now here i am, days later, sharing ten of my dopest midi files with you as well (& all my fine fine followers ofc)
here’s the dropbox link!  a guide:
abyss.mid: god wasn’t this song so sick when it was in dance dance revolution
galaxia.mid: i have NO IDEA what song is from.  hmu if you recognize it?  lil’ kid me was impressed with its majestic scope, its sick reverb, its really fun ancient-temple-y orchestration, and, ok yeah adult me agrees this one rules
giveareason.mid: i have never watched slayers in my life but i have listened to the midi of its theme song approximately one billion times
lastempl.mid: i think this is the last temple theme of one of the earlier zelda games?  i like how AGGRESSIVE it is, just, RIGHT out of the gate it’s loud and in your face
nightwait.mid: *old man voice* back in my day we didn’t have enough space to download em pee threes.  we had to collect midi files of cool pop songs.  such as jennifer lopez’s classic “waiting for tonight”
SD3_-_Innocent_Sea.mid: it’s a tune from Seiken Densetsu 3, a game soundtrack i find overall tragically underrated.  (the whole series, really; Secret of Mana has some absolute bangers too!)  anyway “Innocent Sea” and its companion “Innocent Water” have fucked me up for years; ask me to play the latter on the piano at a nerd convention sometime
sealcrazy.mid: there was this one wildlife artist who sold his art on his lovingly handcrafted website and he had a different midi file for each page.  like each piece of art for sale had its own page.  anyway this was my introduction to Seal, though i didn't realize it until i heard it on the radio when i was 25 and was like HOLY SHIT IT'S THE LIVE VERSION OF THAT MIDI FILE
song1.mid: i think this one might be from Ultima?  like the original Ultima online?  but i’m really not sure; i found it on a Geocities website for this horse roleplaying game called Black & Blue where this song played in the background during its cool Javascript intro page, where they told the story of The Falling-Out Between The Two Brothers That Has Now Cleaved Our Realm Into Two, and like, text would fade in & out in sync with the music?  such a sick effect.  loved it
song2.mid: this played once you entered the main part of the site.  might be another Ultima song.  who fuckin knows
SongoftheWolf.mid: some of you didn’t listen to an absolutely disgusting number of world music albums + Enya during your formative years and it shows
anyway, i will spin the wheel since i’m honestly looking for some new music (i have to drive a bunch during the next month, UGH): @radicarian @ourlightsinvain @jaggedwolf @soanvalcke @departo @nightpool @cyansighs @tototavros  @cyanoscarlet & anyone else who wants to join!  (did i mention. i have to drive a lot. please share some music with me. save me from listening to Bad Religion’s The Gray Grace so many times it causes an integer overflow in the fabric of the universe and sends us all straight to hell)

Seventeen Members in Maid uniforms: Hyung Line
This post is inspired by a presentation I made for the SVTredroom squad lol and I just wanted to share. These are all purely my opinion based on my time working in a maid cafe lol. This ain’t super spicy but smutty stuff is still mentioned.
Tag List: @chewmycherry @suhdreams @hyeri-yah @peachycheol @risquewonu
Seungcheol
So I’m a firm believer that Cheol would go for a more typical style maid uniform.
Poofy short sleeves and a fluffy skirt
Either black or white thigh high stockings, but he wouldn’t wear a garter belt or anything so his stockings would like roll down because his thighs are hella thick
plain white katyusha headband
no gloves, and he would wear small pump heals with little buckles.
black spats under his skirt instead of bloomers.
His petti coat would probably be either white, or one of svt’s colors.
It would over all be very basic, but his style would come out in his accessories.
His apron would probably be more of a waist apron with straps that come up on his shoulders. It would also be where his uniform shines.
Apron would probably have the Seventeen logo embordered onto one of the corners
also would have cute little bows on the apron, as well as a trim on the bottom of his skirt to match the bows on his apron.
Overall, he’d be trying to set a good example as the leader so while his outfit is a bit basic it’d still be super cute.
Now for the smutty bits. Cheol is less likely to sub, especially if he’s wearing something like this. So if you ask him to wear this then you better expect to ride him while he’s wearing it.
There’d also be a small chance that he uses his apron to tie your arms behind your back, but only if you’re comfortable with it.
He also surprisingly likes the feeling of your hands on his stocking covered thighs, the sheer material and your touch would just be too much for him.
He doesn’t mind the uniform but don’t expect him to wear it all that often.
Closest example:
Tumblr media
Jeonghan
So I personally feel Hannie would go with a more Traditional/Victorian style uniform. Not for modesty’s sake but because he thinks it’s more elegant and he has appearances to keep up.
Long sleeves, ankle length skirt, black bow tied under his collar.
his sleeves would probably poof a the shoulder and then get tighter after the initial poof.
He might wear gloves if he’s feeling it that day, but it’s all up to his mood.
Also would have a plain white Katyusha, with maybe some black ribbons at the edge of them.
He’d also definitely wear those glasses he has with the little chains? they would 100% match this look. Also instead of heals he would wear little Mary Janes with little white bows on the top.
So we all know Jeonghan is one of the freaky members, so under the dress he’d have a pair of sheer white or black stockings but they would be held by a garterbelt.
He also doesn’t wear his regular undergarments', he’s probably wear some kind of silky lingerie to tease if you just so happen to get a glance under his dress.
Jeonghan would 100% be down for you fucking him while wearing the uniform. He would go full sub (bratty sub but still a sub)
His favorite type of scenario would be if you ‘caught’ him slacking off and take him from behind while he’s pressed against a wall.
Closest Example:
Tumblr media
Joshua
Josh would probably be in the same classification as Cheol with his more standard uniform
Plain black dress with the poof sleeves, but his skirt would be a bit on the shorter side.
His apron would be a bit different from the other though, more of an ‘underbust’ style of apron that’s kinda tighter on his figure.
Instead of gloves he would probably wear those little white wrist cuffs like Chippendale dancers wear.
He would also be one of the members who wears actual panty hose instead of thigh highs.
His heels would probably be some of the higher ones, but they wouldn’t be stiletto thin.
His Katyusha would be less of the traditional kind and more like the tied lace ones that just sit on your head.
His accessories would probably be some kind of collar or ribbon as a choker cause Joshua is a little freaky like that.
I personally think Josh would love fucking in the uniform, he loves letting you have control.
He would be one of the members that would probably really get into the ‘naughty maid’ role and would probably become completely submissive to you during this.
He loves when you leave marks on his visible skin and when you choke him, it leaves him shivering and trembling beneath you.
Another thing he enjoys is when you tear his stockings instead of taking them off.
Closest example:
Tumblr media
Junhui
So out of all the members, I think Jun would 100% be down for ANY TYPE of uniform.
Long skirts, short skirts, long sleeves, flowing sleeves, poof sleeves. He likes them all.
His favorites thought would be more of the high collars uniforms with ruffles on the chest.
He would have the cutest petti coats, with a nice poof and it would either be a light pink or pale green.
Jun would also be one of the few members comfortable wearing bloomers (aka pumpkin shorts)
either black thigh highs or cute under the knee white socks, with a cute pair of flats.
Junhui LOVES having sex in his maid uniforms. He has a bunch of different ones for every occasion and will 100% let you peg him while wearing the dress.
He likes things starting out slow though, his favorite thing being when you slip your hand under the hem of his dress to tease him.
Closets Example:
Tumblr media
Soonyoung
I’ll let you know now, whatever ideas you have about what Soonie would wear. You’re right.
He would without a doubt have a keyhole maid uniform, but instead of it being a heart it would be the cat head ones (he would call it a tiger head).
His apron would even have a little cat tiger paw embroidered into it.
Instead of a Katyusha he would have a pair of tiger ears and little tiger paw gloves as well.
Besides his tiger accessories, his apron would be super cute with lots of ruffles.
His basic dress would either be black or pink, but he would be determined to find an orange one. he might even commission one.
Just like Junhui he would love fucking in the uniform, subbing or doming it doesn’t matter. He’s one of the more open members when it comes to sexy times so this would be just another fun time for him.
He’s more playful during sex so expect to hear some Horanghae’s here and there.
Despite his usual attitude he’s also pretty good at roleplay so if you’re down for it then so is he. His favorite scenario is the maid who is secretly a spy who gets caught by their boss and fucked into submission. It’s exciting for him.
Closest example:
Tumblr media
Wonwoo
So...Wonwoo would be one of the member’s that is...a little harder to convince to wear the uniform. Which made it harder to find a uniform style that he would be comfortable wearing.
I feel he would go for a cyber maid kinda look, since he’s kinda a gamer nerd it would probably be something he would find...neat.
It would also differentiate from a standard uniform more than more other members.
An aline skirt, strapless dress with a kind of jacket look to it.
his apron would be smaller, and would only tie around his waist.
Like Joshua he would also wear panty hose but his would be skin colored and would have designs that resemble circuits on them.
Surprisingly he would try out stilettos, and would actually look hella fine wearing them.
Over all he would have  a smore sleek and stylish design to him.
I don’t think he would be comfortable having sex in the uniform, maybe a bit of foreplay but once things get serious the dress is coming off.
Closest Example:
Tumblr media
Jihoon
Just like Wonwoo, Jihoon isn’t to into this idea
but if you ask with like super big puppy eyes then he would probably agree. On one condition.
he gets to be a military maid
Which usually is just a standard maid uniform with some kind of weapon.
His would probably have longer sleeves, his skirt would probably reach about knee length and he would wear a rather small pettie coat.
probably some black basketball shorts underneath though. but the skirt would be long enough that they would be hidden.
Would probably wear some kind of platform shoes for intimidation factor.
He wouldn’t really have a lot of accessories, over all a pretty plain outfit.
Somehow you would be able to convince him to do a photoshoot and he would 100% do a ‘step on me’ picture.
Sadly Jihoon does not feel comfortable fucking in the dress unless you’re the one wearing it. So don’t expect any fun times until he’s properly changed.
After that though, expect to be up all night because he is definitely getting you to put on one that he bough for you.
Needless to say, you’re not sleeping.

Wicked: a Gamer’s Look at Morality
Tumblr media
(pic is from an Etsy store, I really want these dice, they’re freaking gorgeous)
A few years back, I was one of a handful of admin on a roleplaying sim on Second Life, and I was put in charge of teaching basic roleplaying skills to people new to our game.  There’d been a shift in our rule structure, a move towards a more formal rule set very similar to Dungeons and Dragons, and I had to adapt my workshop to reflect that.
Some of you who know me are already cringing on my behalf.  Yep, I’m one of those gamers who loves tabletop roleplaying games, but just... really dislikes D&D.  A lot of my friends already know about my laundry list of complaints (unrelatable magic systems, the ridiculous idea of “evil gods,” unrealistic rules... it’s a long list), and I’m not going to dig too deep into it for this story.  Suffice to say, I have some opinions, and we’ll leave it there.
Ordinarily, I leave my list at home, and just try to avoid playing standard D&D.  This time, however, I had a bunch of friends counting on me to help our players adapt to the new rules, and that meant dealing with some of my prejudices, and turning some of my objections into experiments.  One such experiment, and arguably the most successful one of the set, was an experiment in D&D morality alignment.
I should preface all of this by saying that I told this story in a shorter form on a Facebook group I follow, a DnD players’ group, and that’s what got me thinking about it and wanting to share it with all of you.  Yes, I do realize the irony in being a member of a group centered around a game with which I have so many issues.  I’m a geek, we’re allowed to be inconsistent in the pursuit of our fandoms.  Anyway, someone asked about alignment, and it brought up the whole story for me again, so I’m sharing it with you now (and I’ve also shared it on Facebook), as I feel it’s kind of relevant these days.
Now, those of you who are familiar with D&D already know what the alignments are, but for those new to it: every character you play gets a moral alignment based on a combination of two sets of three traits- Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic, and Good, Neutral, or Evil.  You can play a Lawful Evil character, a Neutral Good character, a Neutral Neutral (called True Neutral) character, a Chaotic Good character, and so on.
Dungeonmasters and storytellers and writers have expounded for years on what those alignments really mean.  Before we nerds had “what is your Hogwarts House?” quizzes and discussions, we had “what D&D alignment are you?” debates.  And frankly, I always hated the whole system.  What rational person would willingly choose to align themselves with “evil?”  How the hell are you going to find someone who’s objectively “good,” or “neutral” for that matter?  And how about the whole “lawful” vs. “chaotic” concept?  These are none of them rational or practical character motivations or personality frameworks, and they afford players the ability to become unrepentant murderhobos far too easily, to the point where there’s a whole genre of roleplaying centered around that mentality called “hack n slash.”  Like, that’s part of the appeal for some people.  I don’t get it, I don’t enjoy it, and it bothers me enough that I decided to change things around with our new players.
We had a character sheet and some various “character HUDs” that allowed players to use abilities like in a video game, with special effects and such.  They came with an alignment choice.  That alignment choice was set up with a grid of nine cards, each with two letters.  Lawful Good wasn’t spelled out, it was just “LG.”  Likewise, Neutral Evil was “NE.”
This gave me an idea.  A WICKED idea.
I sat my players down, and said to them, “forget what you know about alignments, I’m changing the rules.  We’ll choose your alignment after you design your character.”  They went about the business of designing who they were going to play in our game.  At the end, they were to choose an alignment, based solely on what they thought those letters meant.
They chose.  One guy chose LE because he wanted to play an evil character who still played by the rules.  Another girl chose CN because she wanted, and I quote, “to do whatever she wanted without concern for morality.”  All of the players finished their choices, and that’s when I unveiled the surprise. This is what I told them:
Those of you who chose an E, congratulations, E= Elphaba.  You each get a small starting advantage of some kind- a power boost, like a feat or an extra cantrip.  It’s small, but useful.  However, you also gain an uncanny mark which puts you at a social disadvantage, causing people to vilify you or be intimidated.  Good for intimidation checks, bad for making friends.
Those of you who chose an N, N= Nessarose.  You get a physical disadvantage that causes people to infantilize you.  You may choose a magical method to circumvent the physical side of that disadvantage, but you can’t get rid of the social aspects of it.  Bad for intimidation, good for getting people to feel sorry for you.
Those of you with a G, congrats, you’re all Glinda.  You get a social advantage with strings attached, and a single fatal mental flaw, causing you to miss certain information and misjudge things.  You will be good at making friends and manipulating people, but you’ll also be dependent upon them.  Choose what social group you’re connected to now.
My final declaration: your letter determines what kinds of options you have.  Glindas can’t make decisions that are only available to Nessaroses or Elphabas, and vice versa with all three.  You are limited in your scope, and you will have to deal with the consequences of your actions in a way that’s in keeping with your alignment.  And no, you can’t just choose a new alignment, you’ll have to change it in character through story.
Suddenly, I had a bunch of players who thought they were done with their character creation, scrambling to figure out how to revamp their sheet and make their characters playable.  Naturally, I got a number of “it’s not fair” complaints, and one player stormed out and threw a tantrum.  Eventually, though, we had a large chunk of people with characters which had a lot more intricacy and detail woven into their design than they had previously attempted.  We had players who were actually excited to play with the others, because they no longer knew which way their character would go.
I had left the whole “lawful/neutral/chaotic” thing alone, so people could use it as a touchstone in their behavior choices.  I also gave them the option of changing their alignment in character, with the understanding that the changes would cause them to lose whatever advantages their previous alignment granted them.
The axiomatic side of things actually helped some of the players understand character motives and moral choice, which was awesome.  They learned that the letters are in that order for a reason- Lawful Good instead of Good Lawful, because the axiomatic aspect was about choosing for oneself, and the moral aspect was for how one deals with one’s consequences.
People who are good aren’t people who only ever do good.  People make mistakes, they screw up, they lose their footing or have bad judgment or get confused or experience temporary states of insanity.  People who are evil aren’t people who only ever do evil.
Being “good” is about accountability, about accepting that not everything is about us.  A “good” person is someone who chooses to accept that their choices affect the world in ways they cannot always predict, and that they will one day have to pay the piper for their actions.  They accept their accountability for their actions, they endeavor (rationally, and in a way that serves them as much as anyone else) to make the world a better place for everyone, even if it’s just in small ways.
A “neutral” person is someone unconcerned with consequences.  Maybe they just are in it for the experience, maybe they see no moral quandary with their actions or their situation.  Maybe they’re not able to see the longer view, or they haven’t had a reason to look yet.  Maybe they’re not in a phase of their life where they’re interested in responsibility.  Neutral isn’t a way to drive though.  It’s the setting in your car for “not going anywhere.”  A person is neutral when they’re reactive, and they’re often not thinking about whether their reactions are acceptable or not.
Conversely, an “evil” person is someone who refuses to be accountable.  They don’t just ignore consequences, they aren’t ever wrong, and their constant efforts are towards advantage and maintaining their position at the top of the heap.  They don’t have to answer to anyone for anything they do, not even themselves.  Maybe they have a nihilistic “nothing matters anyway” philosophy about the world.  Maybe they’re convinced that the ends justify the means.  The difference between them and the other types is, their choices are corrupting and make the world a little harder to live in for everyone involved.  Not that they care, they sleep just fine, thanks.
Now, I have been all three of these people at one point in my life, and I’ve learned that there aren’t good or evil people, just choices and consequences and how you deal with both.  I’ve learned that I’m pretty much never okay with being a neutral person, it stresses me out.  I’ve also learned that I’m not fond of evil at all, because I genuinely like life and the world we live in.  So, good it is, as often as possible, even if it’s just in small ways.
I think it’s important, especially now, for us to recognize that chaos can be good, that law can be evil (and obviously vice versa), and that being neutral is rarely the way forward.  Nobody who strives to make the world better for themselves or those they care about ever thinks they’re doing evil.  And, they’re right, because they’re not doing evil or good.  Good and evil are in the consequences, they’re in how they’re going to deal with the fallout of their mistakes, or how they’re going to handle their success or good fortune.
Those of you looking for good in the world?  Do good, even if it’s small.  Don’t worry about being perfect, focus on making a small difference and making the world a better place.  I promise you, it’s never a bad choice.  And if you have to get a little Wicked to do it, that’s fine.  Chaos can be good.  So can law.  And only those who don’t value good would not try to make good out of both.
Addendum: maybe this is important, maybe not, but out of twelve players I instructed in that class (I went back and counted names in my records), none of them ever tried to change their alignment.  They all became very fond of their character’s personality and identity, and felt no need to change what they’d fought hard to develop and understand.  When a person’s identity is in question, it can often become a fight for survival to change one’s behavior.  To be different means that the old self dies, and nobody takes death well.  I think that might be useful information for some of us right now.  For me, I’m keeping in mind that good and evil are about consequences, and I’m striving to make sure that any fighting I do, whether for my own identity or for the safety of what I love, will be towards making this world a better place, especially for those who have a hard time finding safety or hope.
