#there is something vaguely exhausting about being a woman very immersed in media and very aware of the way women are portrayed in media#theres a subconscious checklist all the time#a flow chart going down all the fucking points of feminist theory every time i see a girl character#i dont want to say things i dont fully understand but the-- politicization?-- of female characters is so. tiring sometimes.#its almost an involuntary response at this point. can a lady be confident and comfortable in their own body intead of being a reflection of#the male gaze#can a lady be emotional and motherly without being judged as a perpetuation of or challenge towards traditional gender roles#i guess what im saying is i wish feminist theory didn't have to be relevant#and we were all normal about woman chracters the way we are about male characters and etc.
