The MOMA - H.H
Pairing: Harry Holland x reader
Summary: Where Harry sees the most beautiful piece of art the world has ever seen...oh and there's, like, pictures there too. (Where Harry meets reader at the Museum of Modern Art)
Warnings: cussing
Word Count: 1.9k
N/A: This is based off my experience at the SFMOMA in June where I saw a really cute guy who I thought was the love of my life bc he was so cute and soft and with who I had such strong bi-fi connection except this is more how i wish it went down bc me and the dude never talked. Like, we would steal glances at each other and follow each other through the whole Magritte exhibit but unfortunately he was the one who got away :")) but ye and the Tilted Plane part made me really wish I had a Harry Holland to hold hands with so I HAD to add that in too
Tumblr media
"Tom fuck off." Sam laughs after Tom pulls his hair as we wait in line to get tickets for the Museum. Tom, Haz, Sam, and I decided to have an impromptu trip through California.  We decided that we're only ever here for work and never get to explore the state.
Currently, we are waiting in line at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. San Francisco was just one of the plenty stops in our road trip and the next is San Luis Obispo to go to different beaches. We decided to stay in San Francisco for three days to witness as much as we can.
"Guys, shut the fuck up. We're in a museum." Haz says. We all nod and quiet down. We pay for our tickets and go down to the entrance.
"Last chance to upgrade your tickets for the Magritte exhibit." the man at the entrance tells us. We all look at each other and nod, deciding to give it a shot. We upgrade our tickets and take the elevators up to the fourth floor where the exhibit is.
Once we get there, we see a group of people standing in a room. We see some people conversing, others looking at the art and others reading the description on the side. We walk through the first room. However, in the second room, my eyes lay on a girl with two girls making out next to her.
She has h/l h/c hair. She wears a white lacy dress with her hair in two buns. She has a pink backpack on her shoulder and black Doc Martens. She turns to her friends and I get a brief look at her face. She has e/c eyes and a cute nose. She has red lipstick and winged liner.
"Uh oh, Harry's being a creep." Haz says. I snap out of my trance and turn to the group.
"Huh?" I ask. They all chuckle, looking behind me.
"She's a cutie for sure." Tom says. Everyone nods in agreement and walks off. They don't stray too far but are obviously giving me space to try something.
"You sure?" I overhear her friend ask.i turn and notices she's alone now.
I walk around the exhibition, stealing glances from her, enjoying how she  looks. She'll occasionally go to the other side of the room but I'd follow her through the whole exhibit. She read through all of the descriptions and takes in all the art. In the fourth room we see a painting of a man with a cage as his head.
She pulls out her phone and takes a picture. I step closer and suddenly decided to speak up.
"Pretty dope painting, innit?" I ask. She turns around, eyes wide in shock
"Definitely. The Therapeutist. One of his weirdest for sure." you respond.
"I'm assuming you're big on art, huh?"  I ask. She nods, looking down a little.
"Yeah, I guess you can say that." you say.
"I'm Harry, by the way." I say holding my hand out. She takes my hand and shakes it.
"Y/n."
"What a lovely name. Say, y/n. Since you know so much about art and this dude, why don't you teach me about his art?" I ask.
She smiles as she nods at my proposition. Turning around, she leads us to a picture of a rose with a knife. She takes it in for a while, running a finger across her chin as she thinks.
"So this one, it's actually my favorite of them all, is called Le Coup au Couer. The Blow to the Heart. It was created in 1952." she says. She looks up at the picture and examines it.
"It seems as the flower is holding the dagger and my way of interpreting it is that those you love tend to hurt you the most. Their love is the rose but their actions or words can be the dagger." she says. I nod, taking in every word as she begins to dissect everything about the painting. The colors and the color scheme, the parallels, how the lines can symbolize different things and I realize what she's doing.
"Can I ask, are you into photography?" I ask. Remembering I've had to dissect and analyze tons of my photographs in old photography classes.
"I like taking pictures of things for sure. But I used to take a photography class my last two years of high school, so analyzing pictures was a big thing in that class. Guess it just stuck." she says. I smile widely.
"That's so cool. I'm a photographer, so I think it's cool how you do that." I say. She smiles widely.
"That's so cool, I'd definitely love to see your work someday!" she says.
We continue through the exhibition and at the end, I see the guys sitting down and talking. They look up and notice us walking out together, laughing at some dumb thing we heard someone say.
"Well, it was nice talking your ear off, Harry."
"Oh, I didn't mind. I enjoyed it actually. Learned something new." I say. She smiles widely and nods.
"Well, I should go find my friends. They said they'd be here but they're not." she says with a frown.
"You can join me and my group, we can help you look for them." I offer, knowing they wouldn't mind. She shakes her head.
"Nah, it's cool. Don't wanna take your guys time here. I'll be fine." she says. I shake my head this time.
"No worries, join us. They won't mind, I promise." I say. She looks around contemplatively before giving out a simple yes.
"Okay, yeah I'll go." she says. I smile at her and lead her towards my group. They all look up at us with wide knowing smiles.
"Hey guys, so this is y/n. A new friend. She lost her friends somewhere so I told her we'd help her find them." I say to the group. Eagerly, they nod, while greeting her.
"I don't mean to sound like a fan girl or anything and I'm so sorry but holy shit you're Tom Holland. Wow." Y/n says as she looks at Tom with an excited look. However, she doesn't freak out like girls in the past have. Something different, which I like.
"Sure am, nice to meet you y/n," he says as he stands to greet her. "I assume you're a fan?" he asks.
"If I'm being honest, Homecoming was better than the other Spiderman movies. But yeah I'm kind of a fan." she admits with a shrug. A wide smile spreads across Tom's face.
"Well thank you!" Tom chirps, his face turning into a genuine smile.
"Anyways, Tom is my brother. Then there's his best mate, Haz. He's basically like another brother. Next to him is my twin brother, Sam." I tell her. She greets Haz and Sam with a simple handshake and a courteous hello.
We walked around for 10 minutes before we found her friends. The friends came up to her, screaming about how one of them almost broke a sculpture. Something about accidentally leaning on it.
"Leave it to Nadia to almost break something. Disaster gays, am I right? Well, we should head to the top floor and then head out?" she asks her friends. They agree with her and are quick to turn around.
"It was nice meeting you, Harry. Again, thank you for letting me talk your ear off." she says. I shake my head, indicating that it was fine.
"It's fine, I enjoyed it." I say. She smiles shyly and waves, walking off. I turn around and see everyone looking at me with deadpan looks.
"What?" I ask. They all roll their eyes at me as I shrug at them.
"You could've asked for some way to contact her, man." Tom says like it was obvious. Which it was.
We continued out throughout the rest of the museum, exploring the top floors first. Occasionally, we'd bump into y/n and her friends. She'd wave at me from afar and vice versa. However, we all managed to ride the same elevator up to the sixth floor. As we began walking the floor, I noticed that y/n's friends would push her towards me. I saw them become friends with my group. All of them would stay behind us a bit, Sam taking my camera from me to enjoy ourselves. We went into one of the showrooms and watched a video on modern black history. We moved into a different show room where they had three giant screens in a dark room that play sea noises.
However, things picked up in an exhibit called the 'Tilted Plane'. The point of the exhibit was that it was a dark room with lights hung up cascading down at an angle so that it seemed the room was tilted. It did feel that way as our eye adjusted to the dark. I walked in side by side with y/n, enjoying the trippiness.
"Oh shit." I hear y/n whisper as she grabs hold of my arm. I reach out to her, holding her up slightly.
"You alright, love?" I ask. She nods rapidly, a chuckle emitting from her lips.
"Yeah, I just got really tripped out right now and almost fell." she says. I laugh lightly as she lets go of my arm. We move throughout the room and I take notice of how the lighting makes her just so much more intriguing.
We walk around the room for a while longer and enjoy the atmosphere. After 10 minutes, though, we notice we're the only ones in the room. Everybody left and she begins to take notice too.
"We should probably head back. They must be wondering where we're at." She says.
"Yeah, probably." I say. She leads the way, being careful as we walk out. We notice the big group hanging out near the elevators. We walk up to them and I see y/n frown.
"Looks like this is the end." she says lightly. She seems disappointed that our time is up.
"You've been on all the floors?" I ask. She frowns as she nods. I sigh as I begin to muster up some courage.
"Before you go, can I ask for your social media?" I ask nervously. She chuckles nodding. Within a matter of seconds, she pulls out a pen and a random receipt and begins to write down her Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat handles. She hands me the paper with a smile on her face.
"It was nice meeting you Harry. And if you're still here later today, I may or may not be at Fisherman's Wharf later today around 4." she says. I nod and wave her off as she walks away with her friends.
"My man!" Tom says excitedly. I chuckle as I put the paper in my wallet to keep it secure.
"Damn Harry got game!" Haz says. I shrug.
"She was perfect." I say.
Later that day, I looked through my camera, noticing Sam took pictures of me and y/n. A lot of them were from behind as we talk about an art piece. Some were from in front as we looked down at something, probably reading a piece's description. However the best ones were silhouette pictures in the 'Tilted Plane exhibit. All of those ranged from us standing side by side as we walk further in, some were of me holding y/n up, others from us looking at each other talking.
"Ready to go to Fisherman's Wharf?" Tom asks. I look up at him with wide eyes and a shocked smile.
"We're going for sure?" I ask. He nods with a wide smile.
"Yeah, let's go you twat. You have people to meet."

Who did you this looked nice at the emmys? I personally look forward to whatever Nicole Kidman wears bc it's typically so bizarre but I thought she looked great. I also will never see Jessica Biel as a "best dressed celeb" in my eyes, I never like what she wears. My best dressed was probably Tessa Thompson-that Rosie Assoulin rainbow gown was a stunner to me.
Sara, what were your favorite and least favorite looks at the Emmys? I think Sarah Hyland or Heidi Klum were my least faves 😧
My commentary got long. WOOPS. Under the cut
I loved Alexis Bledel in Armani — the colour in the bodice of her dress really matched her eyes!
Julia Luis Dreyfus had an inspiring earring choice moment
I actually quite liked Alessandra Mastronardi’s Chanel Couture dress — just not her, at that event
Natalia Dyer’s Vera Wang gown is the green full-length version of Tay’s 2015 Grammys look that my heart deserves *sobs into a well for 90 years over the missed opportunity* (As a critique to Natalia, the gown truly overwhelms her and needed to be better tailored or given to someone taller/of fuller stature. She’s quite petite and this gown was a bit too much on her)
Tatiana Maslany in Reem Acra was quietly so stunning and elegant but I wish her gown was a different colour for a much bigger impact. A burnt rose or a deep blue, even, would have made a huge difference
Halston Sage in Zac Posen was deeply underrated. She’ll probably be overlooked by much bigger stars, but she looked great. Ditto Vanessa Kirby who looked absolutely beautiful in her ballet grunge moment in dusty rose Marchesa. Her dark beauty look and dishevelled hair were inspiring choices.
Something about Reese’ Stella suit moment prevented me from truly loving it. But the colour was amazing (see previous comment about Tatiana Maslany’s gown) and really brought out her eyes + awesome makeup
I wish the cutout on Sarah Hyland’s Zac Posen dress was smaller but I LOVED the colour + fit on her and I’m so glad to see her back to a darker hair colour. The light blonde wasn’t doing her any favours.
I really wanted to love Claire Foy’s OdlR suit. I think I love the suit itself, Claire just looks a little confused about it? Probably because her style would have her in a gown instead. I think Charlize Theron or Evan Rachel Wood would have slayed in it and really owned the design
ALL the applause to Mackenzie Davis for rocking a notoriously difficult designer — Delpozo — and committing to the look fearlessly in a super hard to pull off color to boot. Bravo.
VIOLA DAVIS LOOKING LIKE A PUMPKIN SPICE DREAM IN ZAC POSEN
Gugu Mbatha Raw is such an underrated dresser. Every time I see her she is always impeccable. I loved her Boss gown — such a unique, iridescent colour, too!
Speaking of my above comment about Evan Rachel Wood. I’m not surprised she wore a suit and killed it. I AM thoroughly surprised that such an elegant, poised, impeccably tailored suit somehow came out of the brains of Jeremy Scott at Moschino of all people. WHERE has this kind of beautiful genius been from him all along and if he’s been truly capable of this WHY is he wasting time vomiting comic book-worthy trash looks on Miley and KP when he can do THIS?
THANDIE *sobs*
Kiernan is fashion’s littlest princess in Miu Miu as always
Speaking of young stars, Yara Shahidi is one to watch. Even though I honestly thought her Prada forest fairy gown was Valentino at first glance, she is truly lovely
I’ll never understand the obsession with Nicole Kidman’s style. She continues to either underwhelm or confuse me with her choices as I stand in a crowd of people calling her their fashion queen. Just don’t get it. Had her Calvin Klein been a different material and a full-length gown, then we could talk.
Not even her blonde hair in an underwhelming “did you even try?” low pony could distract me from the beautifully simple dark evergreen plunging Ralph Lauren gown Shailene Woodley had on. GREEN. (Okay the hair is a little distracting). Kind of reminds me too much of this moment from Emma Stone though which has been burned into my brain as one of my favourite green red carpet moments.
I’m not surprised since she isn’t what I would consider someone known for their fashion, but Elisabeth Moss was a huge nominee for the evening and that Atelier Prabal Gurung is the best she could muster? She should have done better.
I love how completely Tracee Ellis Ross loves fashion. In direct contrast to Elisabeth, this is someone who obviously loves to experiment and looks genuinely thrilled/happy to own whatever adventure she is wearing next. Even if the design is unorthodox or even unflattering. I love her commitment and just general YES. I AM WEARING THE FUCK OUT OF THIS-ness no matter what she’s got on. Her Chanel Couture dress was so fun
Lea Michele had possibly her best red carpet appearance ever. Loved her in that plum Elie Saab
Yvonne Strahovski can step on my face with her stilettos any time she wants. Thanks.
I like Mandy Moore. I like Carolina Herrera. I should like this combination. But I don’t.
Wtf was Jessica Biel wearing? What a letdown by hair, styling, and wearer. An ethereal Ralph & Russo Couture gown like that deserves better.
Hooooooly shit. Cut and colour from Angela Sarafyan in that bright yellow Elizabeth Kennedy gown. What a knockout. This may actually be my best dressed from the event.

if possible,all the music asks?
1:A song you like with a color in the title
Yellow-ColdplayI’ve loved this song for a long time and it’s just been a staple of my life, given Coldplay could be considered my top band as well :D
2:A song you like with a number in the title
1985-Bowling For SoupYOU CAN’T TELL ME THIS ISN’T A BANGER
3:A song that reminds you of summertime
Young Volcanoes-Fall Out BoySee this is actually a direct memory to summer because the summer before junior year I actually went to see Fall Out Boy and Paramore.Young Volcanoes was on the setlist and that was an experience I would love to not forget!
4:A song that reminds you of someone you would rather forget about
La La La-Naughty Boy ft.Sam SmithIt’s not like this song brings up bad memories which would make me dislike the song, but the message/attitude reflects the situation I was in with an old friend. You could say the whole situation was (and still is) pretty childish and it kinda goes with the whole ‘covering my ears’ thing that La La La has.
5:A song that needs to be played LOUD
LA Devotee-Panic!At The DiscoIt was a heavy tie between this,Planetary GO from MCR,and Death Valley from F.O.B because they are all ‘speeding down the highway on adrenaline and bass boost power at 1AM’ songs.LA Devotee is my headphone testing song lmao
6:A song that makes you want to dance
Dancing Just Like This(mashup between I Don’t Feel Like Dancing and Something Just Like This)-oneboredjeuAt first I never really liked the mashup but then I started listening to it more and it’s just so..happy??You can’t be upset listening to it and you definitely can’t keep yourself from moving.
7:A song to drive to
Death Valley-Fall Out BoyTO VALHALLAAAAAAAAAAAAA
8:A song about drugs or alcohol
Nicotine- Panic! At The DiscoThat guitar motif coupled with that drum beat is so kickass, and then that bass guitar before the chorus GOD YES
9:A song that makes you happy
Les Miserables(medley)- Santa Clara Vanguard 2013 CorpsI’m a DCI nut,so when I saw this on Semi-Finals night in theaters you could only imagine my reaction to the big hit.Goosebumps and the euphoria that followed after is definitely a reason as to why I’m going to keep up with playing music as much as I can.
10:A song that makes you sad
Shenandoah-Frank TicheliOh god.My senior year of band was this song.I don’t cry much from this song but in the times I played during rehearsal and ultimately my last performance assessment,I would be bawling my eyes out in the back of the percussion section. We had a guest clinician come in one day and they told us to play with a lot of emotion for this piece, the last few notes (the open fifths) to consider it almost as if two people were saying ‘goodbye’ to each other. When I was getting ready for graduation processions the band was playing to fill in the time, and they played this song.I was so close to losing it at graduation man.I guess it doesn’t really make me super sad,but it definitely makes me emotional and very sentimental.
11:A song that you never get tired of
Viva La Vida-ColdplayYou can pry this song from my cold dead hands. It’s such a classic,it’s so good.Everything about it is just so GOOD.
12:A song from your preteen years
Dynamite-Taio CruzI think this is right around I got to middle school/end of elementary? This was such a GREAT song growing up.To be quite honest I don’t know why people trash on pop music,it has the capability of just being really fun and feel good music? And it’s not like it’ll take a lot of effort to listen to the song unlike say a classical piece. You just listen and enjoy yourself.
13:One of your favorite 80’s songs
Take One Me-AhaIs it because I played this my sophomore year in band?NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAlthough for real this is such a great pop piece,I get happy when it comes on at work and you can definitely catch me trying to hit those high notes and failing.
14:A song that you would love played at your wedding
I Know That You Know-Leslie Odom JrAssuming I were to get married,I’d love to dance to this song.Leslie’s voice is just so smooth and gentle and I feel that would be perfect for an intimate moment.Maybe not ‘first dance’ material, but for sure a couple’s dance. It was a bit of a difficult choice between this and Halo by Beyonce but I feel Queen B would be a bit expected.
15:A song that is a cover by another artist
Hey Soul Sister-Lucky ChopsPOSSIBLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE COVERS BY THEM.It’s so fun and energetic!!!Gives me the illusion of walking along the French Quarter of New Orleans following one of those amazing jazz bands. It’s such a pure cover.
16:One of your favorite classical songs
Jupiter,Bringer of Jollity,Gustav HolstJUPITER MY FAVORITE PLANET.For a year or so we would play the chorale section for the homecoming court during a chosen football game every season.I decided to look up the piece one day out of curiosity because hey it’s called The Planets Suite of course I’m gonna go listen.I loooooove Jupiter, while I do love Mars just as much,Jupiter is just perfect and lives up to the name of being jolly.
17:A song that would sing a duet with on karaoke
Take Me or Leave Me-RENT soundtrackI can’t sing for the life of me,but this is such a fun song to belt out at 3 AM with a bunch of friends.(at least I’d think so,I haven’t done that c’: )
18:A song from the year that you were born
Barbie Girl-AquaYeah,I WENT THERE.Unironically I would probably jam to this because the beat will get me going lmaoo
19:A song that makes you think about life
Wait For It-Hamilton soundtrackFor as long as I knew of Hamilton(basically end of 2015) this song has been such a motto to me.My senior year was a bit rough in the sense I was growing distant from everyone I knew,as well as finally feeling the weight of my losses the year before as well as pain from that school year. Not to mention I got rejected from my first choice university and had to change plans a lot.The song really changed my outlook on things, and even to this day I heed the advice of waiting for certain things to fall into place. To this day I have an index card right by compute with the words ‘Wait For It’.
20:A song that has many meanings to you
How Far I’ll Go-Moana soundtrack(I’ll be linking the Voctave cover given it’s been what I listen to the most)I mean how can you not decipher a meaning with a song about a young girl trying to follow her desires while living up to the roles and expectations of those around her?Everyone can relate to it.It could be about physical things we want, metaphysical, anything. It could be a song purely about adventure or looking for what you want in life despite not knowing what you’re looking for.
21:A favorite song with a person’s name in the title
Jolene-Dolly Parton(and Pentatonix)I’m no country person but Jolene is a pretty good song. And then a while ago it seems there was an increase of popularity for the song with Miley Cyrus covering the song as well as Pentatonix.
22:A song that moves you forward
Defying Gravity-Wicked soundtrackThis song is so iconic. The first song I heard from this musical and it has SUCH A GREAT MESSAGE.My personal favorite line is “And if I’m flying solo,at least I’m flying free” because as stated earlier, senior year was a little rough (I went through my first breakup after having such a shaky beginning to get it)and so this song is like a positive ‘fuck everything’ view which I was in need of during those times. It’s such a freeing and empowering song especially with Elphaba’s parts.
23:A song that you think everybody should listen to
You Will Be Found-Dear Evan Hansen soundtrackI had gone through a rough patch a few weeks ago just feeling really depressed and overall helpless, not wanting to reach out because I didn’t want to drag anyone with me.I felt VERY alone. This song kept popping up in my recommended videos and I gave it a try.Not even through the first stanza and I was in tears.I’ve always turned to music for my issues and rough patches, and this song has been the most effective ‘get-up’ song. When I first heard it I felt extreme comfort and felt things would be alright. It’s my turn-to song, and I really want everyone to hear the song and take the message to heart because it’s such a relatable subject matter and it’s true.We really aren’t alone.Even if you don’t feel you have someone to talk to,you can always turn to something.
24:A song by a band you wish were still together
SING-My Chemical RomanceTo be really honest I knew about the group all through middle school but didn’t listen to them as they weren’t my genre.I had a friend send me this song as one of those ‘comment and I’ll send a song the reminds me of you and why’ things and(as I was a wee freshman just now popping up in orchestra rehearsals bc I was reliable)she told me this song should serve as a confidence boost.Of course,I heard this song after the group broke up but it’d be very nice to have them get together and right up some other things like this song. Not that I have anything against the emo label they have, but this style also suits them pretty well.
25:A song by an artist no longer living
Remember the Time-Michael JacksonI was a good fan of MJ at the rip age of about 8,my sister being the absolute MJ nut of the house and knowing all his songs. We had a Michael Jackson game for the wii similar to Just Dance, all the albums on the house computer, all the movies he was in,we had a friggin database of his discography lmaoI remember hearing about his death,I remember just sitting in the living room while my dad played Man in the Mirror on the computer speakers. His songs were such jams and say what you will but his tunes are legendary.
26:A song that makes you want to fall in love
Tus Besos-Juan Luis GuerraMY GOD WHAT A SONG.I remember hearing this once on the radio and enjoying the 50′s/60′s doo-wop feel it had.I found it again after scrolling through youtube and it’s just such a pure song.I feel it really captures the whole notion of “I’m just really in love with you and call me annoying for fawning over you so badly but you’re amazing”.It makes my little heart dance with happiness.(here’s a link to side-by-side lyrics so you can see the original and the english translation :D )
27:A song that breaks your heart
I’ll Cover You(Reprise)-RENT soundtrackIf not for the events preceding this song, the emotion behind it is just so heartwrenching.
28:A song by an artist with a voice that you love
Niagara en Bicicleta-Juan Luis GuerraBACK AT IT AGAIN WITH JUAN LUISI’m Dominican, this man is purely Dominican, everything he sings about is from the Dominican perspective.Don’t get me wrong I love my Puerto Rican salsa but Juan Luis, what a VOICE.It may not be substantial but his voice just has this earthly quality, just like any folk artist out there.I love him so much.(lyrics again because I’m gonna make you all bilingual lmao)
29:A song that you remember from your childhood
Who Let The Dogs Out-Baha MenGiven I first heard this song in a Rugrats movie you already KNOW this was going to be a major part of my childhood!I had a cassette of these guys and this just brings back fond memories of living in Pennsylvania sharing a two story house with my cousin,my other cousins coming over all the time and all of us getting into messes.Good times.
30:A song that reminds you of yourself
Bright-EchosmithIt’s space related. How could I not.The laid back(ness?) of the acoustics is really what I strive to be.This song is laid back, gentle,it kinda has a sense of wonder for space and is a very dreamy song in general. It’s my ideal self I guess I could say, just really laid back, life and wonder back in my eyes, and just a wholehearted love for space.
Wooowee thanks anon!I’ve also created a playlist for this rather than linking every song,as this post would get long very fast.Consider it a personal mixtape of sorts?
