I knew the fur trade rivalry between the companies was wild but I didn't think it was like
- follow rival company to shout and scare away all the birds so they can't catch any to eat
- plug up their chimney to smoke them out of the house
- gather the others around the house in the middle of the night to howl and bang on the walls
I'm taking a while to finish this chapter because I keep laughing
#hapo reads canadian history#also i was Socializing today so i couldnt read as much in a sitting#and yes this was the northwest company harrassing the hbc how did you know#these particular instances were because the hbc sent peter fidler up to the fort chipewyan area to establish a fort#and obviously the nwc was pissssed#cant imagine what fort edmonton was like lol#the companies merged but there was a palisade down the center there#at least for a bit
