D, F, and J for Delven

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

Funny story XD: I created Delven Shadowguard by smashing together traits from two older OCs - Corin is where he got the grey eyes, short, skinny build and feathery hair grown long, while Delven Torason is why his hair colour is mostly black instead of white, and prefers more sombre colours in his clothes instead of going for white and pastel blue. I was initially trying to recreate Corin, but that hairstyle makes the white look grey, bleh.

Delven Shadowguard’s design hasn’t changed since then, I’m happy with it, aside from the copies of him I made on other servers maaaaybe going up or down a couple skin tones because I legitimately don’t remember his particular shade XDXD.

F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?

Pride? Pride is a good one, I guess XD. I love him for being my easy-going, sarcastic, badass do-gooder who doesn’t mind being a bit silly on occasion, or the SWTOR story railroading him into stupid things happening XD, he’s bizarrely sanguine and chill and that’s nice. (I love Huath too, but he’s so angry XD.)

J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?

Not at first? I sort of had this expectation, when first starting SWTOR, that game limitations being what they are, dialogue options would be limited, my character probably wouldn’t get to do much more than decide how polite/sarcastic he wanted to be. So Delven’s personality began as this mostly-blank slate taking cues from Corin and Delven T., and slowly grew to fit the framework that the main Light-side Inquisitor storyline provided - bold, sarcastic, a little reckless, a little righteous and pragmatic, this underfed ex-slave staying positive while running around putting out fires XDXD.

KotFE-ET was when I really had to start headcanoning stuff to fit around Delven instead of being content to shape Delven to fit the story XD. Valkorion didn’t have shite to do with healing the stab wound from Arcann, that was all Delven, who is THE healer, thank you. Marr and Satele should have taken one good look at Delven’s Force presence and gone “….actually, you already know all this Force stuff we were going to yak about, want to sit down and have some tea” because come on, he’s been running around angry enough for lightning and peaceful enough for healing and freeing ghosts this whole time, don’t talk to me about how the Force is more than dark or light, Delven beat you to it long ago. Torian and Vette are both alive and you will never convince me otherwise.

I mean, I’m not really into extensive rewrites? But yeah, I am not above rearranging details to suit.

How does Jedi Katsulas feel about Kira's murder of the U'kossags or however that word is spelled

I mean... yeah it was pretty fucking brutal. Kira made a horrifying spectacle of those bastards but also, do you know what they did? They were preying on the fucking refugees. This wasn’t just a gang vs gang turf dispute, these shits were murdering refugees for sport and... doing worse things. From what I understand, it was... they were awful, miserable fuckers who just loved inflicting pain on the helpless.

So yeah. Fuckers had it coming, and on Nar Shadda, it wouldn’t have been enough to just kill them. Some other group would have taken their place. They needed to be made an example of, so everyone else would think twice about following in their footsteps.

1. Game Master, Player, or both?

I’m more inclined to run games than play them, but I really enjoy both. Running games gives me more to engage with, but involves a great deal of effort and not a small amount of stress. Playing in games is less work, less rewarding in some ways, but a unique kind of fun in others. Really, I’m happiest when I’m able to do both fairly regularly.

These days, though, the answer is more like “Game Designer,” which involves a lot of playing and running and then lots more besides. Working with friends to put our own system together is way more effort than I could have imagined when I got into this hobby, but it’s also been the most satisfying experience by far.

10. Favorite RPG Genre?

This one’s an even tie between Fantasy Adventure and Cyberpunk. Fantasy is ideally suited to a lot of my favorite game elements: journeys to fantastic places, characters with lots of cool powers and tricks, plots about saving the world through friendship, and big crazy magic swordfights. Cyberpunk has this style I just can’t get enough of, and I really appreciate how the goals of your typical protagonist (Complete missions, get money, upgrade gear, complete more missions) align so perfectly with the goals of RPG players.

I’d be tempted to add “Giant Robots” as a favorite genre, but I’ve never found a system that covered it in a way that appealed to me.

15. Your Most Epic Death.

In a Shadowrun 3rd Edition campaign, I was playing a covert ops specialized who went by the code name Heretic, not because it meant anything significant, but because he thought it sounded cool and sinister. In his last session, he got into a fist-fight with an armored humvee. He actually won, but the vehicle’s momentum carried both of them off the roof of the hospital they’d be fighting on, and neither survived the impact with the ground. Great way to go.

27. Your favorite setting or game location?

I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into the settings for Exalted, Shadowrun, and the Worlds of Darkness both old and new. I’ve had a tremendous number of great experiences in those worlds, and I’ll always remember them fondly. I have a special fondness for The Worst Place in the Setting locations, areas that are set up as legendary challenges in the setting, where getting ready to tackle them could serve as a campaign in its own right. Places like the Imperial Manse in Exalted or the Renraku Arcology in SR are just so damn cool, even if I rarely actually see them in play because I don’t actually want 15 consecutive TPKs to drain the fun out of the game.

My very favorite settings, though, are the ones I invent myself. I’m not saying that they’re better than those published ones I mentioned, but being settings I wrote makes them so much more fun to work with. It’s amazing to see other people immerse themselves in worlds I wrote, and telling stories with them about those worlds is possibly the greatest thing ever. Most settings I make have been designed for a single campaign, but a few have shown up multiple times over the years, generally to everyone’s great enjoyment. I’ve got a million more settings than I’ll actually be able to use, but that’s fine by me.

2. What are your OC’s food preferences (flavors/textures/spiciness/calories/ when and how they eat) and how did they get that way?

He favors regular meals perhaps more than someone in (or formerly in) the espionage business should - which has made him something of an expert on galactic quick cuisine. Imperial rations might be perfectly nutritionally balanced, but not even a droid would want to eat them. (Though he prefers more fruits and vegetables than the average street vendor or space fast food joint offers.) He’s not much on anything reminiscent of institutional food - he had more than enough of that growing up.

3. What’s something pointless/petty/unimportant that IRRATIONALLY ANNOYS THE HELL out of your OC?

This is a hard one, since he’s generally fairly even-tempered. (That it’s hard is probably exactly why you picked it, you evil person, you.) There are certainly non-petty things that anger him, and he did get a little irritated with Corso once, but...hmm... *ponders* ... certain kinds of repetitive noises. Not like machinery, but like, in a quiet room if someone’s continually clicking their pen, or, I suppose, loudly chewing gum (is there gum in the galaxy far, far away?). It’s not an irritation he’s likely to act on, but still.

Huath and Scourge, 18, 20, 24

18) Dirty talk, sweet nothings, or no talking (or discussing only technicals)

All three, depending on the context. Scourge frequently uses dirty talk to bait reactions out of Huath XD; it’s easy and highly effective. On the rare occasion that they have a D/s session and Huath winds up dealing with subspace>drop, what Scourge offers is more matter-of-fact comments and statements of fact intended to reassure, which is about as sweet as he ever gets. And then, on the other hand, there was one time Huath successfully roused Scourge’s ire.

20) Rhythm: slow, fast, alternating, etc. Who sets the pace?

Fast, sometimes alternating, largely dependent on how much Scourge wants to drag things out or just wring sensation from Huath - who doesn’t really object, because he likes Scourge dictating to him.

24) What happens after? Cuddling? Make space? Does someone tend to leave right after?

Scourge usually handles cleanup; is the one who has clean towels on hand, who checks in with Huath, sits with him, helps him get up if necessary. Huath would like to GTFO, except he’s rarely in a condition to do so, one way (too well-fucked) or another (subdrop is a bitch).
