Maybe instead of shaming people for wanting Gwyn, a fictional character, to experience a healthy, consensual and enthusiastic sexual relationship, you start shaming people who think the abused is going to become the abuser.
Do you understand? There are people in this fandom who would rather have Gwyn do to others what happened to herself than have her with Azriel.
But that’s not a problem?

It's basic math at this point:
Two books she signed for ACOTAR. Two characters she expressed excitement to explore. Two plots the stories seem to be diverging. She named Elain and Azriel. She didn't name Lucien.
Even though Lucien is the most connected to the remaining storylines, and Gwyn received the development Elain should have if she were to be linked to the new storylines Az is aligning himself with.
Why would she express excitement to explore Azriel's story if it's meant to be told with Elain's?
Probably because it's meant to be told separately. Probably because it deserves to be told separately.

E/riels talk about their ship having 4 books of development. For me, it was clear that Moriel was supposed to be endgame until she decided to change Mor sexuality. It was never supposed to be Azriel and Elain.
In ACOSF, we are introduced to Gwyn, who is very similar to Azriel, and by the end, she became a Carynthian, his equal.
Sjm literally retcon the events of Sangravah, making sure that Azriel is in it.
With all that information and more, E/riels have the courage to gaslight us when we say that Gwynriel will be endgame.
And that's what you missed on Glee.

Elriels suggesting that shipping Gwyn with Azriel is disrespectful to real SA victims is without a doubt the worst take I have ever seen in my life lol
“Stop shipping Gwyn with ANY man without her consent”
LMFAO WHAT SHE AINT REAL 😭 how tf do I get her consent?? Do I need a permission slip from SJM??

“But Elain is uncomfortable around Lucien! She obviously does not like him!”
No. The girl was in love with her fiancé, she gave him everything and he threw her away without a second thought. Suddenly she was nothing to him. She was kidnapped and traumatized and he decided she was his enemy.
My theory is that she is afraid of giving a male that power to hurt her again. In her experience, love is a fickle thing that can be crushed at any moment. She didn’t even do anything to earn Graysen’s hatred. She probably thought he would still love her after what they did to her.
She likely feels the pull of the mating bond to Lucien, and has decided it’s safer to guard her heart against him and heartbreak. I suspect she is attracted to him and feels desire but will not allow herself to fall into “the trap” again.

ACOTAR page 312 - Rhys learns of Feyre's name
ACOTAR page 324 - Rhys uses her name for the first time:
Tumblr media
ACOMAF page 253 - Cassian is introduced to Nesta for the first time.
ACOMAF - a few weeks later:
Tumblr media
HOF page 13 - Rowan meets Aelin
HOF page 61 - Rowan uses her name:
Tumblr media
I'm confused why some think it's such a flex that in 2 years Elain has never said Azriel's name 🤔
Especially not when both these scenes were written so pointedly:

Breaking the ACOTAR 4th wall:
Rhys: I won the Blood Rite. But Cassian had to carry me the last bit.
Gwyn: Me too.
Rhys: My sister was decapitated and I had to see the traumatic remains.
Gwyn: Me too.
Rhys: I underwent devastating sexual assault.
Gwyn: Me too.
Rhys: I’m a halfbreed.
Gwyn: Me too.
Rhys: We have a lot in common.
Gwyn: We do.
Rhys: So why do Elriels insist on protecting you from sexual intimacy, call out how you aren’t a real Carynthian and ridicule your roots but not me?
Gwyn: That would be because I’m a rival love interest for Azriel and they have to tear apart my character to invalidate my relevance and keep their sinking ship afloat.
Rhys: *picks at lint* Gross.
Gwyn: Yup.

the concept that some people read about az’s shadows “skittering back” when elain is near him as opposed to them literally reaching out to gwyn and singing in answer to her and still think that elriel is endgame is so foreign to me,,, like stop lying to yourself

i'm writing a fic that will probably appeal to most fellow eluciens and if not them, then at least my fellow anti-elriels. it's got:
az/oc
platonic gwynriel being besties
gwyn appreciation
elucien
long overdue lucien apprecation
eris tension
caroline forbes-style development for elain
and more, including it being tlovm and critical role crossover for those of being d&d inclined, but it's not required knowledge!
anyway check it out, kthanks love u all <3

I don’t want to read about Azriel’s shadows vanishing around his love interest.
I want them to seek her out, tease her, be playful with her, engage enthusiastically with her in the bedroom, and yes, sing and dance with her. Imagine how boring it would be for such an interesting power to vanish around someone you’re supposed to be with, when SJM has already emphasized how curious and willing to interact with Gwyn that power is.
I want Azriel AND his shadows to feel safe enough to be seen by her, completely. Gwyn saw Azriel and those shadows in action when they first met, yet she never displayed any fear towards them.
They danced when Gwyn challenged him. They danced with her breath. They calmed when they were watching her. They sang when Azriel left her.
The mating bond is called ‘silent music’.
These interactions are so much more positive and soooo much more fun and interesting than vanishing.
I understand people insist Gwyn and the shadows are evil out of jealousy. It really must suck to be deprived of those interactions for your favorite ship 😔
People are so boring for arguing against the 🎶 mate magic 🎶 instead of embracing it and getting excited for whatever else Sarah decides to do with it 🥵❤️‍🔥

Azriel figured out that Elain is a seer, but you know what else he did with that?
Nothing.
Absolutely fucking nothing.
He didn't offer to find Vassa, even though he would know more about her whereabouts and her connections than Lucien.
No, wait, he did do something. He deterred Mor from going because of how dangerous it was.
But Lucien didn't.
Lucien actually stepped up and insisted that he goes. Insisted that he'll find her and hopefully bring back an army.
And he did.
He also brought back an army that Azriel couldn't find. He brought Drakon and Miryam with them on the day of the battle.
I don't give a shit if Azriel named her power when she has Lucien who followed through with her vision and succeeded.
And when Elain said that she needed to get reacquainted with her powers, Azriel again said and did nothing. Guess that's in line with all of his current plans with her. At least he's consistent.

A lot of people are going to be surprised when we get Elain's pov. We will see that her relationship with Lucien is more complex, and it's more than the "she is not interested in him."

For all those dumbasses still disgustingly saying Gwyn's lying about her trauma for the sake of their sinking ship.

Some thoughts about the necklace
There was a post I saw last week on Instagram - I didn't want to read it because I knew it would light the rage inside me - but some friends did and we ended up talking about it anyway.
In this post, the op states that there's no proof that Clotho gave Gwyn the necklace after Azriel left the library. I hate this take, because what reason would Clotho have to choose not to give it to her. But there doesn't seem to be a mention of a delicate golden chain and glass pendant in the rest of ACOSF.
So lets just say, for the sake of argument, that Gwyn did not receive the necklace. Does that change anything?
Tumblr media
Does that change that something in Azriel settled after speaking with Gwyn in the training ring on Solstice night?
Does that change that Azriel smiled when he thought about how Gwyn's eyes would light up when she saw the gift?
Does that change that he tucked that image away, in his chest (close to his heart, one might say), and considered it a "thing of secret, lovely beauty"?
Does that change that he felt a spark in his chest when thinking about her receiving the gift?
The answer is... NO. It doesn't change anything. Regardless of whether or not Gwyn actually received the jewelry in question, Azriel's reactions and thoughts remain the same.
Thank you for coming to to my TedTalk.

"Elain's book will be about choice"
Tumblr media
(Returning his gift was a choice and a statement, was it not?)
"Elain owes no man her attention"
Tumblr media
(just a minor example of how there are no further interactions between E/riel after Solstice).
It's funny how these arguments are used to show that Elain won't end up with Lucien when some in the fandom refuse to see that as of Solstice, Elain has now kicked Az to the curb.
She was willing to give Az a shot (for whatever reasons she had)......
Az blew it.
He called her mistake before going to Rhys, she returned his gift and said not another word to him, shared not another look. There were no hints of her pining. No hints that she was upset beyond Solstice.
Why are some not respecting that she made the choice to walk away from Az? Shouldn’t everyone respect that she was strong enough to not waste her time on someone that rejected her? It doesn't matter why he did it, he still rejected her with no explanation (giving one months later will be too little too late, don't you think?).
Or do her choices only matter so long as her choice is Az in the end?
By the end of SF, there is absolutely nothing in canon to show that Az is her choice.
Could she change her mind and want to give things with Az another go?
Absolutely.
But if we acknowledge that's a possibility than so is her deciding to give Lucien a chance too.
But as it stands now.....
Tumblr media
I don't get the feeling Az is on her mind at all, do you?
The End.
