well, 'no breaths from hell' was a "one-shot" meant to celebrate bleach's 20th anniversary, but it's unclear whether it'll stay a one-shot or if it'll go on to be a full-fledged arc centered around hell – the one realm kubo has hinted about in the past but hasn't really explored in depth yet. based on some of kubo's vague answers on klub outside, it seems like he's still withholding some details (<- i.e some fans think he might be saving it because he's writing again and doesnt want to spoil anything, because what other reason would he have to withhold information, right?). maybe it's because of this and the cliff-hangery nature of the one-shot, but a lot of people are naturally very excited about what this means and i've seen a lot of interpretations and speculation about what little we learned in those 75-ish pages (i don't remember if this was the exact count).

for me, personally (and narratively), bleach has always talked a lot about how power has a consequence. think about characters like ichigo, whose vasto lorde transformation granted him the power to beat ulquiorra but cost him his humanity. or even his mugetsu form, which zangetsu warned would cost him his powers forever (even though we know he gets them back later anyway). you can also look at grimmjow's transformation as an example – he had to eat his own fracciones to evolve. aizen's experiments with the visoreds gave them hollowfication, but they could only maintain it for a few minutes at a time (and cost them their bodily autonomy, since they didn't exactly consent to that). the captains and lieutenants all aspire to attain bankai, but the technique requires years of discipline and practice (and self-actualization).

additionally, bleach's power system actually rests on the balance of power – soul society absorbs reishi back, mayuri kills a bunch of rukongai citizens to ensure stability within all the three worlds, and of course, reincarnation, which is ultimately the recycling of souls, only adds to that.

the hell lore we've received so far seems to be in line with that. most soul reapers will probably die and be reabsorbed by soul society (before ultimately entering the life cycle again), but captains and lieutenants are more powerful. their reabsorption will probably cause instability.

the fish metaphor, which had a lot of people scratching their heads when it first dropped, seems to hint vaguely at this. the bigger fish had to die, if only to ensure the world would be stable enough for all the little ones. "die" here seems to mean "go to hell." it's all pretty straightforward, actually. the soul reapers had no idea they'd been casting their captains into hell, and however good the reason, they all seem horrified by this fact.

i personally really liked this one-shot because it turns the "everyone lived happily after" around on its head and asks: but what about the people who died? which is more interesting. the events of tybw caused a MASSIVE shake-up to the fabrics of existence, stretching them, pulling them thin. there were so many deaths, so many imbalances, that the happy ending we got in 686 seems to be the calm before the storm, while something murky hid within the depths, unsuspecting. it's spooky, it's horrifying, it's full of intrigue, and knowing what we know about the former captains (like, FORMER former captains, the prehistoric ones), it opens up the possibility that the main characters will be meeting some really messed up guys (should we ever see the inside of hell). the arc seems to be asking the main characters, mainly soul society: did you really think you'd get your power and your victory without having to pay something in return?

and THIS, of course, ties into ukitake, whose entire thing with mimihagi was a loan he borrowed from and paid for with his life. it's no surprise that, from the looks of it, ukitake seems to be ruling hell (or at the very least was singled out while all this was going on).

this is how soul society gets dragged into it. meanwhile, if you've noticed the patterns in bleach so far, then you'll know that every arc begins with some personal stakes for ichigo to get involved. ichigo, by the end of bleach, has mostly made peace with his past, embraced the true nature of his powers (and his soul), overcome the despair and grief from his mother's death, and finally started a family of his own. he has a son now, a son who has been involved with hell to some capacity, though it's a little early to say what this will mean for ichigo – that you can't protect your kids from everything no matter how hard you try? that kazui's mixed bloodline will have consequences, just like it did for ichigo? who knows? we'll just have to let time pass and see if kubo will ever drop the whole thing! :D

you may disagree with me and that’s okay, but for the fact that we have all the same race (black, white, asian, latino, we are all humans) people have to get sorted out into all other boxes so we can have a reason to fight each other.

For example people complaining about so much letters in LGBTQ+, why we can’t just resume all in one thing and you like what you like? Because people don’t want you to fit in with them. So, others creates small boxes so they can fit in with other people who have the same ideals as them, this is a vicious cycle, where we ALWAYS need to belong somewhere and have the EXACT same thoughts of that group

But I think with stuff like this… I think it really depends on the situation idk? Like sometimes we need places to belong, and it’s okay if they’re very wide and vague places and it’s also okay if they’re a very specific place. I think labels are something that is different for everyone. Some people like big and broad labels, others are more comfortable with much more specific labels, and there are people that don’t like labels at all and I think that’s super cool…idk… But sometimes it can get hostile and cause isolation too.. like it can go from feeling welcome and at home to feeling alone…

Hey Callie it's sails I have a nerd ramble about the opening so hopefully it helps.

if I remember right the punisher, daredevil, none of the defenders (iron fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke cage ) aren't in the marvel openings eather. And there making a midnight sons game so maybe will get a movie sometime in the future (moon knight is in that group, along with daredevil, punisher and ghost rider I believe) but, if that dose happen will have to bring ghost rider back in the MCU (no one has played him sense nick cage in the early 2000s I think but, I could be wrong.) and I think Ryan gosling said he would love to play Johnny Blaze so 🤷. Don't feel bad because our moon boys aren't in the intro there not alone in that regard I don't think the X-Men are in the opening eather.

Also just a sidenote about She Hulk, I want a Hulk movie with Mark Ruffolo in it I feel like he got robbed on that end (half the avengers have there own movies) and I refuse to watch she hulk because of it like give the hulk his own movie you cowards. ok the difference between moon knight and those characters (minus daredevil) is that moon knight is part of the mcu right now. even though there was no distinct connection other than the mention of the ancestral plane from black panther, he’s part of phase 4. it makes sense that the defenders + the punisher aren’t in the intro bc they haven’t made their official debuts to the mcu yet. the same goes for ghost rider and the x-men. i think once daredevil: born again is out, that’s when matt will be added. 

what’s making me mad is that we have no idea when mk is coming back and removing him from the intro is like further disconnecting him from the mcu. yeah yeah, i know the intro is like 30 secs long, and it’s impossible to fit all of the characters in it, but i’m salty af lmfao. i’m just praaaaying that we get the slightest crumb of news about mk’s future in D23 in a few weeks, or else i’m really going to lose my mind.

ooO look,,, i love hulk. still, i think at this point he’s not going to have a solo movie. it seems as though marvel is focusing more on some of the newer characters vs. the original avengers, which is fine by me! there’s no doubt that hulk will still be an integral character in this saga, and tbh, i enjoyed watching episode 1 of she-hulk. i’m putting a lot of trust that kevin feige and co. knows exactly what’s best to move the story forward. is it a good or bad thing? idk. but as long as it keeps me entertained for the next several years, i’m all for it.

Second, I’m sorry you’re having a hard time 💞 I hope things get better. It’s not 2am but I have to get up early tomorrow so here is my midnight ramble about the last couple days.

So if anyone is not up to date on my lore I move into college in less than a week, which is WILD btw literally never thought I’d even be accepted to a college and now I’m not only accepted to my dream school but I’m moving in in less than a week? Hot damn.

So like my school has orientation but they broke up all the freshmen into groups? That are called primers? God I hope no one from my school is reading this. Anyway in my primer group is me, this kid who has 20 3DS(es?) that they’re bring to school to just…hand out to people(????), and my crush who I’m gonna refer to as this little blue diamond emoji 💠 bc it makes me think of them.

💠 and I are doing that sort of Lesbian Flirting thing where you’re both obviously interested in each other but worried that the other one is just being nice and you don’t wanna fuck it up so you’re like nooo I can’t just say how I feel bc she might just be a super nice person! We’re both constantly like “you’re so attractive I’d make out with you right now but no homo” (we are both lesbians) and it’s. But then today we agreed to be Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy for Halloween? And there’s like…nothing gayer than that so? Idk.

We went to the mall together on a Date-That-Wasn’t-Actually-a-Date-Because-We’re-Both-Into-Each-Other-But-Don’t-Want-to-Say-it-Because-What-if-She’s-Just-Being-Nice and that was cool bc…idk…I worry a lot about how ppl view me as a wheelchair user. Like…idk! It’s just. Hard! But 💠 is also disabled and it was just cool to hang out with another disabled person. Very cool <3

We have been texting 24/7. Just texting our thoughts to each other, texting about comics we like, texting about the eternal emptiness we feel inside from having to be away from each other until we move in next week (yes we’re very melodramatic). We only live like an hour and a half away from each other so it’s not like it’s long distance by any means but we don’t have time to drive to each other before moving in bc packing and the like. Also…we literally move in in less than a week lmao it makes sense to just wait

My new wheelchair bag came today and she offered to embroider it for me and I’m like 😭 that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. I might be giving her Mercane, at least to borrow, bc she has arthritis and has been wanting to try a folding cane for a while but they’re kinda pricy

Anywayyy my friend and I made a disabilities club for the school which is wild bc we haven’t even moved in yet lol but it’s taken off a lil bit. Right now it’s only freshmen but after we move in I wanna try to have like…meet ups and stuff. Hopefully then more upperclassmen will join! Love being around disabled ppl.

Also my roommate is super cool. He dyed his hair green so we match ✌️😭 so cool. He’s giving me his old Monster High DS game 💕💞💖💗

Also my bestie and I are finally gonna get to hang out!!!! I wish we were in the same primer 😔 but it’s okay bc we’ll hang out after the orientation anyway.

I made 30 or so kandi bracelets with the name of our school and I’m just gonna…give ‘em out at orientation. Way overkill? Yes. A little weird? Indeed. Am I doing it anyway? Absolutely.

I’m also low key famous now for something kind of embarrassing but that’s a ramble for another time.
