I really hate brazilian LGBT organizations that include q for queer in their pamphlets, materials, etc bc like that's not our term, no one in this country has ever been called a queer and before the internet nobody called themselves that and materially is not a term that means anything to brazilian lgbt history and struggles

#including queer reeks of we are copying the usasians and we learned activism by being very online #had a teenager at my internship ask me what queer meant and it was hard to explain bc its not a native term #gay was successfully gradually integrated into our culture and activism but queer is a step to far #made worst by the fact that there isnt a universal slur in portuguese abt lgbt people that would be equivalent #closest would be viado/viada but the female form is not used that much against lesbian and bi women #anyway the acronym should be just lgbt specially here in brazil we have no connection to the q #rambles
