chara, i wanna know how your opinion change on them
First impression: When I first got into Undertale, I wasn't that good in english, didn't entirely understand the story and just ran with the Chara caused no mercy fanon. Not much else to say here.
Impression now: Very troubled child who should've gotten support for whatever they've gone through before falling into the underground. Might've had some sort of savior complex(?) towards monsterkind based on them favouring monsters over humans, Asgore's words towards them on their death bed, and of course their ridiculously dangerous plan with Asriel. It's kind of terrifying how much of an impact your actions have on them.
Favourite moment: The only time we actually see them do something on-screen is the end of the No Mercy route but outside of that it would be the story told by the monsters at New Home and the tapes in the True Lab. The new home sequence always makes me really emotional and it's the first time where it's outright stated that another human who was very important to monsterkind's history was around and the tapes reveal more about that story than previously known. Aside from that, it's just nice to get a bit of dialouge where Asriel and Chara are just kids goofing around.
Idea for a story: I have this scenario in my head based on the hc that Chara befriends Asriel in college in Deltarune: They convince Asriel to ask Toriel over the phone if they can spend the summer break with the Dreemurrs. Toriel approves with the permisson of Chara's parents. Chara's call with their parents breaks out in an argument and they go with Asriel anyway out of spite. Asriel doesn't say anything about it because at this point, he has caught up on Chara's homelife being bad and can't complain about spending more time with his bestie. Chara and Kris are at first tense around each other but get along great quickly and Chara becomes like their bad role model who sets things on fire with them and teach them how to shoplift at Sans'. Toriel notices they're a trouble maker and keeps a closer eye on them, but it especially worries her on top of Chara not spending the summer with their own family. She tries to talk to them about it and it eventually leads up to Chara being adopted into the Dreemurr family.
Unpopular opinion: Not sure if I have any
Favourite relationship: It's an obvious choice but them and Asriel. It's wild to see how much Chara's death affected him but he still acknowledges that Chara wasn't as good and flawless of a person as he used to think. We don't get to see much of how Chara felt about Asriel, but I like to think that under different circumstances, their relationship would've been better.
Favourite headcanon: Narrator Chara, but I guess it's more of a very possibly canon theory than a headcanon. Other than that, the weapon associated with them being a gardening knife has me thinking that they liked to help Asgore in the garden. Asgore taught them about the different plants that grow there (no they did not know about Buttercups being poisonous, Asgore getting sick was a genuine accident).
