I'm sorry for not posting for a while hehe
So,as far as I'm concerned, there are some zelda fans who don't know about zelda 1 and 2 link(NES link)
Here's an interesting fact.
Tumblr media
You should take this as information. Link tries to stay away from monsters at all times,it's better that way to not ressurect Ganon. Because if he gets tracked down and killed, they'll sprinkle his blood over Ganon's ashes and ressurect him. Bringing Link's life to an end whereas Ganon is back.
Another fact about Zelda 1 and 2
They have different Zeldas. Yes.
Zelda from Zelda 1,let's call her Dawn to not get confused. Dawn is the main princess of the era,the one who isn't hundreds of years old.
Zelda fron Zelda 2,let's call her Aurora. Aurora is the Zelda that has been sleeping for hundreds of years.
Aurora has been asleep ever since, she was asleep before Dawn was even born. Centuries of sleeping.
Yet,she did not age physically. She still looked like she was was 16. Keep that in mind.
Another fact! Link has magic in Zelda 2!
He has three magic spells he can use. Well, atleast let's add the Fairy one.(4 spells hehe)
He can use fire, thunder, and a life spell in which he can heal himself. I don't know if turning into a fairy is part of his magic spell list, but let's count that for now.
That's all the things I know about Zelda 1 and 2,maybe you could add more in the comment for the newbies I made this post for:]

LINKTOBER DAY 28: LIGHT/SPARKLE/BRIGHT
Hyrule Wild and Sky seem very much like the magpies of the group to me, specifically the first two. I can imagine them at least wanting to get their hands on the Master Sword to see what kind her tricks they can do with her, even if it means following Sky into a very scary cave or something

LoZ Gender Ideas
Note: These are my headcanons! I just like to take details from the canon and run with them as far as they will take me. Feel free to use these ideas if you want! Also only the OoT Link and Saria one has images because I’m tired. Put some Subway Surfers on if you get bored of all of the text /lh /j
Zelda/Sheik (OoT) - he/him
In Ocarina of Time, Zelda disguises himself as Sheik for seven years. That is a very long time to purposefully disguise yourself as a different gender. I don’t believe he even knew how long it would be until Link woke up. For all he knew, Link might never have come back.
He could’ve disguised himself as a Sheikah woman, but seems to have chosen to be a man.
The manga version is a little iffy, but Zelda seems to agree to Impa’s plan of having his conscience rest to “become that of a Sheikah boy”.
“Now, what about when he reveals himself as Princess Zelda and stays that way for the rest of the game?” You might ask.
I think it might’ve been to quickly relay information to Link.
He revealed himself as Zelda in the Temple of Time right before Link was to go defeat Ganondorf. It would’ve wasted valuable time to explain that he had transitioned from Zelda to Sheik. (Also, he was immediately kidnapped by Ganondorf)
He is also the one who sends Link back to the Child Timeline, so he probably knew that  they wouldn’t stay to get to know this particular version of himself.
Zelda/Sheik (HW) - they/them
In Hyrule Warriors, Zelda seems to disguise themself as Sheik for no apparent reason.
They are constantly referred to as the “Sheikah youth”, no gender being assigned to them.
My headcanon is that Zelda saw a chance to temporarily escape the shackles and expectations of “Princess Zelda”, and that they could truly explore themself for a little while.
Sheik has many lines talking about how they will be playing some sort of music, or even historical uses of music. Zelda’s lines mainly focus on the others around them. So, maybe their dream was to be a historian or bard?
Link (BotW/TotK) - he/they
In Breath of the Wild, Link is very androgynous.
However, I noticed that he doesn’t seem to identify as a woman in any way.
They seem to like traditionally “girly” things (ie. nail polish, being called “pretty”). But, when someone asks him if he’s a woman (Riju wonders about the Hylian Champion being a vai), he seems to become possibly uncomfortable and corrects them. They also seem shocked and scared when someone realizes they are not a vai (the one Hylian in Gerudo Town, the shopkeeper in the secret shop).
He doesn’t even keep the Gerudo Vai set in Tears of the Kingdom.
Fado (OoT/WW) - he/him
In Ocarina of Time, Fado is a Kokiri that seems fairly cryptic during the medicine quest.
In Wind Waker, Fado is the Wind Sage.
Interestingly, even though they share the same name (and in my opinion, look similar) they use different pronouns.
Lots of people (myself included) see this and head canon that they are indeed the same person, but he transitioned to a boy between the events of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker.
Bonuses!
Or, more accurately, fun things I noticed that I have no clue how to interpret, lol
Link (FSA) - idk I avoided assigning pronouns cause I can’t decide
In Four Swords Adventures, Link is able to go into Gerudo Town without any problems whatsoever.
Granted, this seems to be a point in time where the Gerudo are trying to forge relations with the rest of Hyrule, and they could’ve gotten rid of that law. But, that law is in effect in BotW, and I doubt that the Gerudo would get rid of the law only to bring it back later. So, it would make sense that the law is still in effect during Four Swords Adventures.
So, either, the Gerudo assumed that Link was not a boy (possible) OR that Link is not a boy in this incarnation (also possible). I don’t know which of these options I will be using, but feel free to use this as you want to!
Link and Saria (OoT) - they/them?
In Ocarina of Time, the Kokiri all wear very similar clothing.
Tumblr media
The girls wear a tunic with a brown belt, brown boots, and a headband. The boys wear a v-neck shirt with shorts, green boots, and a cap.
Interestingly, Saria and Link both don’t follow these rules.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Saria wears shorts, green boots, and a headband. Link wears tunic with a brown belt, browns boots, and a cap.
This seems to suggest that Link and Saria don’t fall into the gender binary. What gender does this make them? IDK, this is just something interesting I noticed.
Link (AoL) - he/she?
In the Adventure of Link, Link is able to transform into a fairy. This fairy form looks identical to any other fairy, including the feminine body figure.
This seems to suggest she’s genderfluid to an extent? Since it’s only when she is a fairy?
He also seems (relatively) fine with becoming the king of Hyrule? (though, I guess that Elizabeth Swann from PotC was a king as well, lol)
IDK. Just an interesting thing I noticed.

The Hero that Never Was...
So
Do you know what’s weird?
That AoL Link has two Zeldas. That’s weird. Why doesn’t Old Zelda (you know what I’m gonna use LU Lingo for them for ease of communication, so Aurora)--why didn’t Aurora have a Link of her own? The triforce was in danger, there’s a princess, this is a recipe for “those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero” who are eternally bound to this curse. That, to me, means you physically cannot have a Zelda without a Link. If there’s a Zelda, there’s a Link. If there’s a Link, there’s a Zelda.
But Aurora was alone.
now of course this is because this game came out in 1987 and the curse wasn’t invented yet but that has nothing to do with anything and i will gleefully ignore this fact
Now, I looked up the storyline for the past in Adventure of Link. Here’s what Zeldapedia had to say.
First the stuff in the page on AoL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is from the page specifically for The Prince
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and last of all, this piece of concept art
Tumblr media
From first glance, the story seems pretty cut and dry. An evil magician, perhaps even an incarnation of Demise’s hatred, sidles on up to the prince with news of the triforce, painting Zelda in a bad light “Oh she’s turned against you, denying you your birth right, she’s greedy and hoarding it’s power, blah blah blah”. The prince, overcome and blinded by his greed, confronts Zelda with the magician. The magician attacks Zelda when she refuses to give up the hiding place, the Prince realizes things have Gotten Out of Hand, tires to stop the magician, yet it is too late. His sister is cursed, the magician is dead, and he’s left alone swamped with the guilt that this is all his fault for letting his greed get the best of him. And it’s a good story! I like it!
But I was wondering... just where was Link?
And... why did the magician die after casting the spell?
One reason for Link’s absence could be that it happened so fast, and with the triforce locked away, there was nothing he could do. A little plot-holey, but serviceable.
Another is that the Prince was a Link, but I don’t like that theory myself. In my mind, if the Prince was a hero, then he wouldn’t have taken the actions that he did. My personal belief is that the heroes aren’t chosen by the gods just, randomly picking or something, but because each and every Link has the heart and personality and soul of a hero. “The Spirit of the Hero”--not in a reincarnation sense, but in the sense that this is who they are. We even see it in the Hero of Legend, or of Winds--they weren’t born with the Triforce, but they undoubtedly have the Hero’s Spirit--Ganondorf himself saw it in the Hero of Winds. They’re the heroes because who they are, down at their depths, is heroic. They have all the chances in the world to look away, to turn back, to not do anything. But they don’t. Because that is not who they are. Because they are brave and courageous.
So no, I don’t think with the way the Prince acted, he could be a Link. Though that’s purely based on my interpretation of the Hero.
But... there is another option
The more I looked at the stories, the more I felt like things didn’t quite add up. And I still didn’t get a good explanation as to why the magician kicked the bucket after cursing Zelda into sleep. Why would he do that anyway? What was the point? What on earth could causing Zelda to enter a sleep without foreseeable end unless the Triforce is brought to her have any benefit for the Magician? Wasn’t the whole point to get the triforce? Yes, brilliant plan, curse the Only Person who knows the secret into sleep and the only key to wake her up is the triforce you’re trying to get her to tell you about.
And again, why did he die?
And the poor prince, who realized the follies of his ways too late, and he tried to stop the magician but the magician was just too strong and fought him off, and there was just nothing he could do.
Well, do you know what that sounds like?
Revisionist History, that’s what.
What if... hear me out... there was a clever young lad with an aptitude for magic, and a soul that resonated with courage. The Prince--who is greedy and wishes to possess the triforce--orders the young magician to use his magic to force the princess to give up the location.
The magician refuses.
So the prince uses a magical artefact and takes control of the magician, binding him to his will. Using the magician as a puppet, he attempts to magically torture the location out of Zelda, and use the magician as a scapegoat if his evildoing is ever discovered.
The magician isn’t strong enough to fully break free, but he does what he can--he casts a spell of sleep on Zelda, a spell that could be broken only by the bearer of the Triforce, so that when she awakes, she’d have a hero to protect her. It was a frantic measure, the only way he could think of to protect Zelda and ensure that whoever awoke her would be good and trustworthy.
But by going against the control of the artefact, the magician paid the price. He died for his act of defiance.
The Prince was left to pick of hte pieces of his failed plan. He uses the Magician as a scapegoat, and affects a facade of guilt and realization and repentance for his misguided deeds. He locks his sister away were only the Sheikah can reach her in ‘hopes that she might come back to life someday’ or so he says, but more like trying to remove all evidence of his evil deeds.
And no one remembers that there once was a boy named Link, who gave his life to save the princess. He was the hero that never was--for never was he named. Never was he acknowledged. Never was he remembered as the hero. Every time the story was told, he was the villain instead.
But he was the hero.
And he saved his princess.

me, pacing erratically: see, the thing is, link from the original legend of zelda did not have a sword before he got one from the old man in the cave and yet he managed to defend impa from the monsters pre-game so skillfully that impa was legitimately impressed with him and pleaded with him to help defeat ganon in the first place. so how did he do it? how did a ten-year-old boy with no weapon manage to singlehandedly drive off a bunch of monsters from terrorizing an old woman? my answer: i think he used rocks. i think that boy was throwing rocks left and right and bashing them into their fucking skulls and whatnot. and just given that the intentions of the original legend of zelda games were ultimately to let the player fill in the blanks as they played the game and as the final battle with ganon was so simplistically done (because, again, much was left up to the players' imaginations) i think from a theoretical standpoint, if we are to imagine the final battle with ganon as it happened in-universe—that is to say, a ten-year-old boy with absolutely no formal weapons training other than "run through monsters with the sharp end" fighting against the monstrous king of darkness who can and does turn invisible during the course of the battle—would it not be a fun idea to assume, then, that at some point ganon could have knocked the sword out of his hands? that at some point during the battle this iteration of link could've just gone "fuck it we ball" and grabbed a rock and managed to wrap himself around ganon's head and just started bashing him with it? like the absolute fucking feral child he is? would it not be a fun idea to assume that instead of eventually shooting ganon with the silver arrow from afar he simply grabs it from his bag in the scuffle (wherein ganon is trying in vain to remove the Screaming Fucking Child from his general head area) and stabs it into one of his eyes while he's up there? would it not be fun? would it not set him apart from the other iterations of link in the way that the games he features in already DO as zelda lore has evolved over the last almost-forty years that more games have been released? we're talking about the version of link who, as the original manual says, mysteriously appears out of nowhere and disappears just as quickly after the events of zelda 1 (though clearly he does eventually return to hyrule as evidenced by the events of zelda 2). would it not suit him to match the general atmosphere of the original legend of zelda game and fight in a manner that speaks more of survival than fight in a way that imitates polished heroics like you would see from some sort of knight? would these hypothetical scenarios as to how the final battle with ganon could have gone down not add an infinite amount of characterization and flavor to an otherwise simplistic fight? does this not interest you?
you, tied to a chair in my basement: ggod pleas,,e,,, jsut let me go i want to see my fuckign family,,,,,,,
