It was an ordinary day. The Sully family welcoming the day by spending the time together in their marui. Laughing and catching up with each member of the family. Their laughter was cut off when the horn sounded again, and they heard it.
“Everyone, the Tulkuns have returned!”
Your ears perked up at the sound of Tsireya’s joyous voice. It had been something you hadn’t heard in a long time. All of your siblings looked at each other, excitement filling your eyes as you all scrambled to stand up and race outside your marui.
Neteyam laughs in victory being the first one to step foot outside. “No fair, bro!” Lo’ak playfully shoves Neteyam as Spider came second with you. Then Kiri and Tuk.
“Let’s go!” Tuktirey shouts, running and calling for her ilu.
Everyone followed her, but Lo’ak went out of his way to go over to Tsireya. While an all too familiar figure walks towards you, his signature smile plastered onto his face.
You already feel your body reacting on its own as you smiled back, cheeks warming. “Hey there.” Ao’nung greeted, taking a glance out in the sea to find everyone finding their own spirit sibling.
“Care to join me?” Ao’nung offers his hand.
Who were you to refuse your mate?
“Gladly.” You reply, taking his hand. Ao’nung called to his ilu and you already made your way behind his back, your arms wrapping around his waist as he looks hack at you.
“Ready?”
Once you have him a nod his ilu was off, diving into the ocean. Ao’nung’s eyes scanned the water for his own spirit brother.
It also registered to you that this’ll be the first time you’d see his spirit brother, and you suddenly got nervous. But you really did not have the time to learn what they were saying, so it made you all the more nervous.
Once Ao’nung finds his spirit brother, his smile grows approaching the Tulkun.
His ilu slows.
Your eyes then travelled to the creature in front of you. It was huge and it had the same tattoos on its belly like on Ao’nung’s arm. Your eyes widened. Then the two of you dismount his ilu.
You watched as Ao’nung approached his tulkun, signing his greetings which you knew.
`I see you, brother’ Ao’nung signs towards his spirit brother, who in turn sounded his reply.
Your smile only grew seeing Ao’nung catch up with his tulkun. But to be honest, you really didn’t know what he was saying, nor what his spirit brother was saying.
On Ao’nung’s point of view, however.
Ao’nung takes a glance at you before signaling for you to come closer.
You shy, but follow him as you swam beside him, facing his tulkun.
‘This is (Y/N)’ He signs to his spirit brother.
You could hear him squawk in a high pitch tone.
‘And they’re my mate’ Ao’nung signs rather proudly.
You were still confused as Ao’nung’s smile grew as his brother responded.
‘That is amazing news, I feel the two of you are made for each other’
Ao’nung nods before replying ‘I don’t know what I’d do without them, I’m really thankful for it’
Then his spirit brother turns to look at you and you swore by the way its head tipped down and its eyes bore into yours that it had accepted you. You smile, signing your greeting.
After they had caught up, Ao’nung invited you to ride with his spirit brother.
‘Hold here’ He signs, patting its fin. You follow, placing your hands on its fin. Ao’nung did the same beside you as he signals his tulkun brother to go.
Then you both were being swam around, doing a couple of loops.
Ao’nung occasionally glances at you, his heart being overwhelemd as you had a huge grin on your face as you signed ‘Thank you’ to his tulkun.
And after that, the two of you found yourselves atop his tulkun, sitting across from each other.
“Ao’nung, I cannot describe how this makes me happy.” You say, referring to him and his tulkun’s connection.
“He knows who you are already.” He replies, taking your hand in his and stroking the back of it.
“He likes you.” Ao’nung said after you didn’t respond. “Really?”
“Yes, really, you know what else he said?” Ao’nung smirks at you, now pulling you close to trap you in a hug.
“What?”
“That we’re made for each other.”

It’s in the early hours— hours before the break of dawn and Aonung finds himself wide awake and with a plan. His feet moved at a steady pace, already knowing where to navigate themselves.
Why? It was because he felt like he hadn’t spent quality time with you as much as he should.
You always reassure him with your glances and smiles, saying that it’s okay because that’s what he is needed to do if he were likely to become the next Olo’eyktan.
Aonung scoffs at the thought with a small smile lingering on his lips. Of course, he may be ready to be the next Olo’eyktan— but he considers it happening a long, long time from now.
All he wanted to do was be a young adult, having fun, not caring about the responsibilities he had at the time being.
Now, he wanted to spend time with you.
Aonung would rather eat sand than tell anyone that he’s been planning this day for a week now, making sure everything he does is according to plan.
He figured he’d make it up to you, so why not make it the best start of the day you both had?
Aonung freezes in place as he stares at the entrance to your marui. Out from the corner of his eye he could already see a few villagers up and early, he surely wished you weren’t one of them.
Then again, he remembers how much of a heavy sleeper you were. That leads him to softly pry open the curtain from your marui, letting the light travel inside first before he could.
Low and behold, you were there, all curled up and peacefully sleeping. Your eyelids closed as you shifted around, breathing out.
Aonung makes quick work of the curtain, tying it to the side, letting more light through as he moves towards your form.
He kneels to meet you and he could even feel guilt with the thought of waking you up when you looked like this. Your chest slowly heaved up and down as he admired you.
But then again, he wasn’t about to throw his whole plan away.
Reaching his hand out, he softly touches your shoulder, his mind telling him to let you go as you stirred. However, you were already waking up just from his touch.
Blinking back, you were met with Aonung’s face. What a wonderful sight to wake up to, the thought of waking up beside him entered your sleepy mind, making you smile.
“Aonung?” Was the first thing you said once your sleep started to drain out of you. His thumb caressed your shoulder, transferring to your face.
“Good morning, sleepyhead.”
You roll your eyes at the nickname but it made Aonung grin. Brows knitting you look at him again. “What are you doing here?”
Well, that was for Aonung to know and for you to find out.
Aonung gently grabs your hands, pulling you up to sit.
“C’mon, follow me.”
He now pulls you up to stand, catching you in the process as your feet were still pretty tired.

“Where are we going?”
You could’ve sworn asking the same question repeatedly for the last moments that had passed as Aonung continued to grasp your hand, leading you somewhere. You were getting frustrated with the silence your mate was giving you.
Opening your mouth as you were staring up at the back of his head, almost asking the repeated question again when Aonung turns around to face you, leading you to shut your mouth, hoping he’d finally answer.
“Just trust me.”
You tilt your head and sigh in defeat, that wasn’t even the answer you wanted but you guess that’ll do.
Then you find yourself in an unexplored part of the jungle in the village. For you, at least.
It was still dark out so you busied yourself with admiring the bioluminescence around the place, how it crawled up in the trees and ran underneath your feet, the ground glowing with every step you took with Aonung.
“Are we there yet-“ You asked when you were looking at the ground but ended up bumping into Aonung as he suddenly stops in his tracks, leading you to look up.
“Woah…” Was all you could utter.
In front of you was a secluded waterfall, there were tall trees surrounding it as it looks to be leaning in towards the waterfall, its leaves cascading down towards it as it glowed along with the water, it almost looked to be breathing as the lights glowed and disappeared in a pattern.
Under the waterfall you could see the bright glow, the water running down creating ripples of light that made you wonder why haven’t you heard it when you were this close?
Aonung couldn’t care for the view however as he already knew this spot thanks to his plan, so he took the time in watching the awestruck look on your face, making him feel like he already accomplished his mission, but it was far from over.
“Let’s go.” He said, tugging your hand again, slowly pulling you into the waters. You gasp as the cool water hit your skin, already sending tingles down your spine as you were swallowed in with him.
Once you were done admiring the beauty from around you, you turned to look at Aonung who had a proud look etched on his face. “Aonung, did you..?” All he gave you was a shrug, smile still on his face.
Swimming towards him you place your hands on his shoulders. “This is amazing.”
Aonung leans in, touching his forehead against yours as he blinks, looking at you. “Swim with me.”
He leans back before diving under. You found yourself smiling, taking a deep breath and diving under with him. You found him already at the bottom. You swam, your tail helping you reach your destination quicker as you swayed.
Aonung gently grabs you, pointing at a direction. Your eyes took in the beauty of the corals around you. There were also little fishes that swam, creating light lines around. Turning to face Aonung again, you find him carrying small shells in his hand, looking at it then at you.
‘This is for you’ he signed underwater. You smile, feeling like your heart was about to burst from his actions.
‘What’s with all of this?’ You asked, signing.
Aonung didn’t answer, however. He smiles at you and simply points up to the surface. Already knowing what he meant, the two of you waste no time going up.
Reaching the surface, you breathe out, waiting for him to appear. Once he did, you wasted no time coming close to him, pecking the side of his cheek. “I’ll tell you, but let’s move over there.” He jerks his head towards the rock that hanged just above the waterfall on the side.
After reaching it, Aonung quickly sits down, patting the space in front of him.
You swore your cheeks were already hurting from how much you were smiling as you nestled in between his legs, leaning back against his chest. Aonung leaned in, placing his chin on your shoulder as his strong arms made its way in front of you.
In his hand you could see the shells he had shown you earlier, three of them to be exact, and a string on the other hand.
The two of you sat in silence as Aonung made quick work of making the necklace. He often leaves a peck or two on your shoulder as he worked, leading you to shiver every so often.
By the time Aonung finished, you finally leaned your head to the side to look at him. “You haven’t answered me yet.” You reminded him. Aonung chuckled, holding the necklace in both hands.
“Let me put this on your first, okay?”
You laugh, nodding as you put your hair up, Aonung’s fingers ghosting over your neck as he tied the necklace. “Done.”
Wasting no time, you leaned back against him as he wrapped his arms around you protectively. “So, you’re going to answer me now?” You laugh.
You could feel Aonung’s laugh vibrate from his chest. “Yes. I just wanted to spend some time with you, that’s all.”
“Really?” You ask and Aonung scoffs playfully.
“Yeah, really. I haven’t spent that much time with you thanks to my duties- no, don’t even try saying it’s alright.” Aonung said as he watches your mouth open to respond. The two of you laugh.
“We have a lot of time in our hands, I want to make it up to you, that and I missed you- missed hanging out with you.” He now softly said, squeezing you in a hug.
You were about to respond when Aonung’s finger pointed up at the sky. “Look.”
There it was, such a romantic scene at the break of dawn, the two of you in each other’s arms as the day finally began, in such a beautiful place.
The two of you watched.
You look down at Aonung’s hand resting on your thigh. Moving, you bought his hand up, leaving a kiss on the back of his hand as you turned around to look at him, leaning against his shoulder.
“Thank you.” You whisper, pecking his jaw.
Aonung shifts as he takes you in front of him, hands going up to your cheeks as he hastily leaves a kiss on your lips.
“Anytime, ma yawne.”
