i changed the format of this ask because it was messing with the graphic.

because ren’s father spent long amounts of time out on missions, his mother used to make him good luck charm bracelets. they used to be made out of two pieces of thread, with zhilan possessing or wearing the other half. when ren was born, they made new bracelets, made from cutting one into three pieces.

it’s a special tradition of old mistral culture where ren is from. it’s based off the chinese legend ‘red string of fate’ or yīnyuán hóngxiàn (姻缘红线). according to the myth, the gods tie an invisible red chord around those destined to meet one another or are destined to help each other in a certain way. it’s similar to the western concept of a soulmate. traditionally it was only supposed to link romantic love, but but just as the concept of soulmates has changed so has this, and bracelets are shared and exchanged for platonic and familial love as well as romantic.

this kind of jewellery making was just another hobby to keep his hands occupied when he was a child while he thought, so he’s quite good at it; tying knots and making friendship bracelets. but most of them were discarded. ren did not have a lot of friends growing up after all. ren has a few on his person; the one he shared with his parents, and the one he shares with nora.

each of the bracelets are personalised, but with ships the bracelets are adorned with stones, often jade stones because they are a stone of healing, a protective talisman, which is most important to ren: ‘stay safe. come back to me.’ they’re adorned with stones because presenting gems to your mate is a traditional dragon mating ritual (according to my dragonology book).

ren will try to make the gift as casual as possible, but he does make them himself, even though he will try to hide them while he’s still constructing them. he won’t explain what it means to him, or even force you to wear them, but receiving one from him means that he loves you and you’re important to him. they’re kind of earned, in threads, after ren has known your character for a significant amount of time. don’t ever ask him to make the bracelet for you, at least not the one made out of red string. he will become offended.

pyrrha, jaune, and ruby muses could get one now because of canon time spent together, but other characters require more interaction.

Headcanon Game - A to Z (NSFW): So here’s how it works. You send me a character (or a few), and the corresponding letters that you want me to answer for them!— ◊ACCEPTING◊

L (location) — Honestly, Lance doesn’t really care where he has sex, though public sex isn’t really to his tastes. He doesn’t mind openly flirting, but anything past it??? It’s done in privacy. He doesn’t care if it’s in bed, in the shower. As long as no one waltzes in (because he’d hate to traumatise someone), he has no real preference for location.

A (aftercare) — He likes a good cuddle afterwards. Delicate kisses trailed along his body, but especially his neck and collarbone. Afterwards, he would honestly love to shower with his partner, and he’s certainly in no rush for the shower to end. He’d probably go for round two in the shower, but at least clean up would be easier. 

N (something to say NO to aka turnoffs) — So, Lance is mildly into BDSM, though his tastes are very tame. That said, he has huge turnoffs. Anything that’ll draw blood or could do serious bodily harm (extreme biting, knifeplay, some sexual RP scenarios, etc.). Verbal abuse is a big NO for him. His self-esteem fluctuates so much, he’d rather not slip back into a sense of low self-esteem. He’s very iffy about breath control, but is willing to try.

“Uhm… hm, you do taste good.” Aqu took Law’s finger into his mouth and bit it as if it was the most normal thing to do. Still, one may never guess what’ll pop out of the wildcard’s ideas.

Law jerked awake sharply to the sudden pain in his hand. His arm thrashed about and he smacked Aqu in the face in the process of warding off whatever cannibalistic danger was preying on his precious finger. Law let out a gasp.

“W-what was that for?” He straightened upright and snapped his head in Aqu’s direction. “Don’t sneak up on me, unless you want to lose all your teeth.”

He glanced around the room in a daze. Where was he? He picked up several details of the interior that he recognized as Aqu’s office in one of the gang’s hideouts. That begot the question of, how long was he out? He had apparently fallen asleep at the desk after pulling an all-nighter. However, he hadn’t expected Aqu to be back so soon.

Law immediately gathered his composure. He ran his fingers through his hair and tugged his hat over his head. He scrutinized Aqu’s expression, trying to gauge Aqu’s reaction. Was Aqu mad? Law didn’t want to damage whatever good relations he had worked hard to build with Aqu, for the sake of winning Aqu’s trust. No way. He couldn’t have Aqu pissed with him right then.

“You’re back early,” he said, his tone calmer. He decided he wouldn’t even bother questioning why Aqu had bit into his finger. “If you’re hungry, there’s stuff around.”

     Soleil’s head, to some, certainly didn’t seem like it was on her shoulders. It showed more prominently in this moment. She’d been with Aqu since they had gotten back from the battle they participated in. Actually, she’d never really left his side. There wasn’t an explanation from her, but she felt like she was piecing together why she was herself.

     Nowadays, she’d felt-- Odd whenever she was around Aqu. She’d been around helping him out since they day they’d gotten him into the army. Truth be told, she was proud, happy even that he was around. Seemed he certainly was doing way better here than where he was when she picked him up. But that wasn’t entirely how she’d felt. No, she felt something else. It felt like butterflies-- She wasn’t sure though.

     Her hand absentmindedly traced his collarbone, originally to feel it over in case there was anything that would require a healer. However, as she did so, she ended up lost in the feeling instead. Each small stroke she took, sent a jolt through her hand and into her own spine. Her thoughts were shot lived when he spoke up.

     ‘ Hm? Oh! S--Sorry, Aqu. Yes, I do remember you saying something about that. ‘ With that said, she dropped her hand to her side, head following suit as her cheeks flushed red. Guess she shouldn’t have gone on so long.
