- The entire cutscene with all the Guardians in Yen Sid’s tower....... all 7 guardians are there so just fuck Terra I guess

- But oh my god they’re reunited they’re here they’re so cute they’re oh my god they’re interactions are so heartwarming like oh my god I know I keep saying that but oh my god

- They’re apologizing to Aqua!!!!

- AND LEA. LEA WAS THE FUCKING HIGHLIGHT OF THIS SCENE he pointed out how Ven looked like Roxas or vice-versa (sadly, Ven didn’t react, or talk much at all during that scene :<) and he was pointing out how complicated it would be to explain it all to Ven (”Wait, huh? Who’s Axel?” “See, this is what I’m talking about!”) 

- and axel is on the tower with three ice creams,,,,,,,,,, and saix, saix is there

- Honestly, I expected a lot from this conversation from when it was revealed in the trailers. No, I’m not disappointed with this scene, I just expected it to give us more answers and in typical KH fashion, it gave us so many questions..? Like, wait, what? Who was that girl Lea and Isa tried to save? How did she disappear? Where did she go? Who was that fucking girl and why was she so important and never mentioned before now?

- And Darkqua’s reveal was so good, I love how she was calling Mickey out and talking about all her emotions throughout her time in the RoD, the loneliness, the despair, the pain...

KH3 spoilers for Toy Box and Monster’s Inc!

oops I forgot to do a mini review on these worlds and now I forgot everything that happened

The best parts about these worlds, obviously, is how they didn’t follow the main plot of the movies. It allowed for more freedom in what happened. Toy Box was fun to explore and huge and the dialogue was so heartwarming to see between the toys. 

(side note: holy fuck verum rex caught my sibling and I so off-guard when we first saw it oh my god it’s riku / not-noctis and holy shit ignis was there and oh my fucking god it was ffxv that’s hilarious like i’d play the hell out of that game)

The final showdown with YMX and Woddy was frankly, fucking amazing. That entire cutscene was fucking amazing. First, Buzz Lightyear fucking dies and gets norted to the darkness, next we see fucking Woody telling off an anime character nonstop like goddamn? “I know people like you. You don’t know what it’s like to be loved.” and “You’re more hollower than any toy could ever be’ like holy SHIT woody went OFF

Monster’s Inc. was nice in the way that it took place after the movies (with a few creative liberties), so in other words, Nomura’s really out here writing fanfiction of Disney movies, which is great. The world was fun to explore and the story was fine, but what I”m hyperfocusing is on....

HOLY FUKCING SHIT I LOVE HOW VANITAS SHOWS UP TALKING ABOUT ALL THE NEGATIVE EMOTIONS HE NEEDS TO FEEL TO BE POWERFUL WHILE THE PROTAGONISTS ARE MAKING BOO LAUGH AND BE HAPPY TO POWER THE GENERATORS AND VEN! HE REVEALED TO SORA WHERE VEN WAS!

and hoyl fucking shit the remix of “Enter the Darkness” had me headbanging it was great the cutscene was so fucking intense then suddenly Sulley just fukcing

aND he threw him through like, 70 doors? What the actual fuck? but oh my god, mike and sulley’s teamwork, the sheer emotional whiplash and amazing humour is exactly what I’d find in the original movie and blends so perfectly well with KH I can’t help but love that scene. 

Vanitas, how are you gonna recover from that?

KH3 spoilers for Frozen and Tangled ahoy~

So, looks like my biggest fear came true with KH3 :< That they’d just do a bad retelling of the move in game format while Sora just watches and kills the original heartless. I was most excited for Tangled and it was... in all honesty, disappointing.

Rapunzel started calling Flynn “Eugene” without any explanation (before the ending scene), so many of the scenes were just ripped from the movie with the Trinity Trio thrown in randomly (the scene when Rapunzel’s all like “oh this is the best day ever” vs “Mom is gonna hate me!”)

Frozen was just. Okay. I want to blame somebody for this, and I don’t know who, but I’m gonna point fingers at Disney. I’m fine with the Frozen movie and its hype. Not so fond of Let It Go + Did You Wanna Build a Snowman? in-game.

If I wanted to see every cutscene they ripped from the movie, I would have just watched the movie!

Frozen’s way of handling Hans was.... terrible. There was one off-line about Anna loving Hans, then the player sees Hans trying to kill Elsa (and I believe his name is never tied to his appearance) without any explanation and it’s so random and awkward and. Ah. 

Like, couldn’t they just have made a heartless go after Elsa? It would add more KH into Disney, make Hans’ appearance less shitty and hey, Anna might have to sacrifice herself for Elsa and maybe Sora will feel even more down, seeing as he couldn’t protect the very people he’s supposed to.

It’s not all bad!!! The graphics were extremely nice and I couldn’t stop oohing and ahhing over how the worlds looked, especially the Tangled one. And oh my god, we have the Icons Larxene and Marluxia causing shit. I screamed when they both appeared on screen, it was amazing. They’re amazing.

my thoughts on KH3′s endgame

a lotta endgame stuff but there’s gonna be a lot of talk about general KH3 things too. Spoilers for KH3 (+ KHUx) and be warned, there’s going to be a lot of negativity. Ish.

don’t get me wrong I loved KH3 as a Kingdom Hearts game. As a standalone game. But as a finale to a saga? I’m feeling disappointed. Like, really disappointed but in some cases, not surprised. Loved the game. Wished there were more.

I think my biggest gripe was that there was no mid-point. Or no “hub” world. KH3 started off great! I loved what they did with the KH2.9. That was cheeky, real cheeky. Good stuffs. Going to Twilight Town + Olympus really set things up. Sora’s going to find a way to bring Roxas back. Mickeyriku is going to find a way to bring Aqua back. Kairi and Lea are training. I was so excited to see how things would develop. 

Then it turned into... well. Sora just. kinda forgot about Roxas for the rest of the game?? Like?? After Twilight Town, the game turned into a “go to this Disney world and fuck around. Then go to this Disney world and do the same thing with no plot relevance whatsoever.” There was no midpoint in the game where we were like oh yeah, there’s kinda an upcoming keyblade war.

I think that’s what made the endgame feel so rushed. Everything happened in the Keyblade Graveyard and beyond instead of being spaced out. Aqua’s back, hooray! And in the next ten minutes, Ven is back. Yay! And in the next five minutes, we’re at the final battle spot! Wait, what?

so i’m just gonna gloss over the whole timeline shenanigan stuff because my one brain cell is too tired to think about it rn.

I’ll talk about the individual scenes like Terranort + Xion/Roxas’ return + THE WAYFINDER TRIOS REUNION???? in separate posts cause i don’t feel like making this get long and they each deserve their own post.

but yeah anyways back to the ‘plot’. Sora forgot about Roxas? Sora did so little to actually... bring Roxas back. The keybearers just charged into the final battle without worry and the people who were supposed to come back kinda just... did. Like, Sora bringing Roxas back was emphasized so much in the trailers. And when Roxas finally does come back, he and Sora nod at each other and... that’s it? That’s all the character interaction we get?

To be fair, though, there were hardly any character interaction (coughvenandroxaslookingateachothercough). I think that’s what a lot of the fandom was looking forward to most. Ven seeing Lea? My boy made no remark on how things really have changed in the ten years he’s been asleep? He called Lea his friend (which was sweet) but that’s it? Aqua talks to Kairi sure. But Terra never once speaks to Riku, his apprentice? Terra and Riku never talk about how they both fell to darkness???? Roxas and Riku never talk things out???? Kairi and Namine??? oh thats another story. namine, sweetie, im so fucking sorry you got done so dirty sweetie i am so sorry

Everything felt rushed! Oh, the war’s starting. Oh, look, everyone’s back. (speaking of which, Xion, baby, I love you but how did you get here..?) Oh, look, Kairi’s dead. (yeah im. not gonna go there. i think the fandom’s got me covered regarding how kairi was done even dirtier in kh3.) 

Scala ad Caelum is fucking gorgeous. and there’s daybreak town and since im a slut for khux ofc i ascended when i saw it. Theme’s great. If only we got to listen to it for more than fifteen seconds. I’m with the party that believes Scala was supposed to be a playable, explorable world but was cut in development. smh

I think the ending was. Well. I loved everything to do with the Wayfinders??? LIKE??? Eraqus shows up!! And HUGS! HUGS GBSIHBGKHSB im’ losing my mind over this scene one month later like??? ERAQUS APOLOGIZES TO VEN AND AQUA and Terra’s so hesitant to approach Eraqus because he thinks he doesn’t deserve his Master’s love but Eraqus brings him into the grouphug KHGBSKHGBK and he tells Terra to “take care of the two” which shows that he trusts Terra!! He still trusts Terra!!! AGBAKHGBAKHGAB

sidenote: i can’t fuckning get over terra approaching xehanort and getting ready to fuck., him up. and aqua grabs his hand because she’s afraid not of terra but of losing him again and seeing hikm hurt but terra just looks at aqua with a gaze that asks her to trust him and she does so she lets go oh my gfucking god kh3 made terraqua canon without making it actually canon BL ES S my crops have been watered my skin is cleared my fucking depression is cured BLESS

so after xehanort gets away scotch-free from giving like, everyone PTSD, there’s a satisfying ending of Sora holding the x-blade and stuff like that but. Kairi?? Where’s Kairi?? Like, all the keybearers are here. All the trios (namine sweetie i still love you) are here. Except for Kairi. It’s just. Augh. 

I feel like things would have made a nice conclusion. Hell, things did make a nice conclusion! But then Kairi’s not there! It’s kinda like Nomura didn’t want the story to end. I was looking for a satisfying end to the saga but Nomura kept it going with an “oh yeah kairis kinda gone soras gonna look for her btw” while I’m just??? let it end?? endings are okay sometimes?? please//??

yeah and then sora’s like, fuckig dead or whatever. yeah im not happy about that from a writing standpoint. I want a closed ending! I want the Destiny Trio to have justice! I want them to be together like in KH2′s ending! But did Riku and Kairi even talk to each other once in KH3? It feels like the ending was just a giant set up towards the uh, secret ending.

yeah im currently playing ffxv right now. im in absolute love with the game. like, literal, absolute love. can’t stop thinking about it and making content for it. it’s great. i love it.

When I first saw Verum Rex, I was like “this is kinda getting a little too meta but maybe it’s just another cheeky easter egg.” Then later, I was like holy shit wait Verum Rex is Latin for like, True King or something. That’s a little too-too meta.

...the secret ending. yeah. to me, it just seems like nomura is still salty over versus and i feel like that affected kh3 poorly. i know he stated in a recent interview that the two had no correlation but sure. okay. i believe you. 

bleahgkhsbg. I dunno. The Wayfinder Trio got done so much justice in the ending. Like, fucking Aqua and Terra adopt Ven and his cat/???? They live happily in the LoD??? Ven’s reunited with Chirithy?? More KHUx content??? Akusai got fuckign married and adopted 5 dumbass kids??

Destiny Trio got... shafted and fucked up. and versus is forcing itself into kh3 and. aaaaaa

once again. i love kh3 as a standalone kh game. I could rant about the positives (WAYFINDER TRIO?? HOW CUTE VEN LOOKS IN THE NEW ENGINE??? THE FUCKING MUSIC???) but ye. im here being negative woohoo

TL;DR:

KH3 felt lacking to me. Wished there was more content. Pacing was horrendous for me. Ven is adorable. I’d die for the Wayfinder Trio. Ienzo is fucking adorable. I’m not fond of the ending.

- We already know that Marluxia and Larxene were once keybearers but wait, Demyx and Luxord too...?! Wait, no way! Their reactions showed that they were startled by this information, but from Marluxia’s reaction, he seems to have almost... been expecting it, or he suspected it was true already. And considering he’s Lauriam, a Dandelion leader...

- god kh3 is really coming for my khux loving ass like that huh

- IENZO HOW HAVE I NOT SCREAMED ABOUT IENZO YET HE’S SUCH AN IMPORTANT CHARACTE RAND I’M SOF CUKING GRATEFUL HE’S SO BEAUTIFUL IN THE NEW ENGINE HE’S SO CHEERY AND AWKWARD AND CUTE HE’S SO AMAZING THIS IS MORE THAN I COULD HAVE EVER DREAMED FOR

- The Twilight Trio is honestly so fucking underrated?? They’re just a trio of dumbass kids with a heart of gold getting into trouble around town. I fuking love the amount of shade Ansem SoD was throwing at Ansem the Wise but wait.... who is that girl they keep talking about? The one that disappeared?

- Either fucking way the way the Trio helped Ansem TW... Pence was fucking distracting Ansem SoD, who was trying to tell a teenager off like he wasn’t the fucking final boss of a game kshgskghsbgkhs and Olette comes to help and then fucking Hayner tries to drop kick him what a bunch of badass dumbasses

- Then Vexen shows up and he... wants to atone?! I thought he was just in it for his research but he realized that he was a shitbag and wants to alone like his Master...?! HO LY SHIT!

- Then Demyx showed up at the labs and first off, wow zemyx is canon???, second off holy fuck their interactions were so good and third, IENZO MEETS HIS OLD MASTER ANSEM THE WISE

- HOFANKAHGNKAHGAB I PREDICTED SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD HAPPEN BUT OH MY GOD IENZO APOLOGIZING AND BOWING AND HE LOOKED SO MUCH LIKE A KITTEN AND A KICKED PUPPY HE LOOKED SO DEPRESSED AND SAD AND ADORABLE AND HE’S SHOWING SO MUCH EMOTION HE WANTS FORGIVENESS HE’S SO SORRY HE WAS JUST A BOY HE ADMITS BUT HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER

KH3 spoilers for the Caribbean and San Fransokyo!

Wow! The Caribbean’s graphics looked amazing! If you saw my last post, I’m gonna repeat everything there for a bit and say that the Caribbean did fall victim to the “Disney movie retold in video game but worse and oh there’s an anime boy sometimes.”

But, it wasn’t as bad. Sure, it had its moments, like how the crew got out of the End / Edge Of the World / Davy Jones’ Locker but Luxord (who’s name is pronounced Loox-ord??? ...What??) was integrated well into the world and was enough of a presence to seem intimidating.

I was dreading the underwater gameplay, but it turned out to be great, especially with how the magic changed to the “sea” versions when underwater. Not only that, but the world was so expansive, above ground and underwater! Sailing was actually pretty fun and the way you could go to islands to collect crabs and whatnot gave me nice Wind Waker vibes.

Overall, solid world. Now, onto what I am not exaggerating as one of the best worlds.... San Fransokyo!

Now, I never watched BH6, but this made me want to buy that movie. H O L Y shit the world was fucking brilliant! See, the Disney worlds are always better whenever they’re not a retelling of the story, because then the ending isn’t predictable, it’s a journey of our own and most importantly, it gives opportunity for Sora and the heartless to be integrated without issue. He’ll actually interact with the world and characters instead of just watching the movie happen (coughwhenflynngotstabbedcough)

The dialogue was heartwarming and Data / Dark / Replica / whoever the fuck Riku looked badass as hell. His voice acting, his backflips and dark demeanor screamed evil. That whole concept about empty puppets and hearts and what makes a heart is just *chef’s kiss* 

I don’t know what to say about this world, partly because my sibling and I were playing it at past 3 am and half-asleep and partly because I’m just speechless over how well Sora was put into a game. This is a prime example of what KH was like and I’m glad this was the final Disney world. Saving the best for last, huh?

KH3 spoilers for Olympus ahoy!

H O L Y SHIT the graphics??? The graphics??? Hello, the graphics??? They’re so oh my fucking god they’re so gorgeous??? Like hello??? 911 can you come save me my heart has stopped I cannot handle the graphics

The world’s are so beautiful and the fact that there are actual NPCs doesn’t make this seem like an actual KH game but holy shit it is it’s real KH3 is here????

- So right off in the beginning of the game, we see Yen Sid telling Sora off for things that are, frankly, 99% not this fault, but this is all setting up to Sora losing faith in himself :eyes emoji:

- Herc! Herc’s in Olympus! And oh my god, the dialogue with the Trinity Trio is amazing. The fact that they talk in the overworld and react to it adds so much more life to the trio. I’m still not used to it.

- Phil didn’t talk at all in Olympus which was really... strange? I guess they couldn’t find even a knock-off voice actor but c’mon, not talking at all? Phil was just there staring when he’s the most talkative of the bunch. Coulda at least had him off-screen and say that he was helping the people of Thebes escape or something.

- There’s Xigbar, being Xigbar. Actually, all the villains are really impressive so far. Hades’ VA and dialogue is great.

- Fighting the titans was honestly the highlight of Olympus. The battle with the ice and lava titan looked amazing and I’ve always loved aerial battles, so the battle with the tornado titan was fun

- But, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed in Olympus. It felt like a weak “Hercules in 10 minutes” which makes me sad since Olympus, for some reason, has always been one of my favourites, if not my favourite KH world since KH1. My biggest fear for KH3 is that they won’t integrate KH into the Disney worlds nicely, that it’ll just be “disney story but in a video game and oh sora’s there sometimes too” and I really hope the rest of the worlds will let Sora have more proper interactions with the cast.

- Xigbar. Oh my god that ending scene. I’m playing KH3 with my sibling and we were both so shocked at that final scene, where Xigbar is watching the crew and says “May your heart--” before the screen cuts to black

- Holy hell that was sudden and scary; I thought that the fucking PS4 broke / crashed because that cut was so abrupt. It’s not like it cut off after a word, it cut off mid word like “May your hear-”. That’s why the cut was so shocking and oh my god why is Xigbar saying that?

- He’s so mysterious??? when I first played KH2 I was wondering why no.2 in the Org wasn’t so important, then 2.5 came out and I was like oh. He’s really fucking important, actually, and he seems to know a lot more than he’s letting on. Why does he know that saying? Is it because he heard it from the keybearers? How did he come across that saying?

- Sib and I were joking that Xigbar is the MoM but I’m actually thinking that theory might hold some weight to it. Why is Xigbar so important? Why does he desire the keyblade’s power so much? NOMURA EXPLAIN PLS

Overall, Olympus was still an enjoyable world that was outright gorgeous to look at. Sure, the story was a tad disappointing in the way that it was presented but don’t get me wrong, I still had so much fun seeing the Trinity Trio’s bonds. Hmm, can’t wait to see the other worlds~
