Interior view of Morpheus Hotel by Zaha Hadid Architects in #Macao #China 🇨🇳 completed in 2018. ZHA designed the Morpheus as a simple extrusion of the existing abandoned foundations; using this rectangular footprint to define a 40-storey building of two internal vertical circulation cores connected at podium and roof levels where the many guest amenities were required. This extrusion generated a monolithic block making best use its development envelope that is restricted to a 160m height by local planning codes. Urban Nebula, a sculptural installation by Zaha Hadid on the South Bank in #London , created as part of the London Design Festival 2007. The Urban Nebula installation for the 2007 London Design Festival explored the potential application of pre-cast concrete for the creation of organic, repetitive forms. While the fluidity of the piece resonated with the structure of a nebulous cloud, there was a clear contradiction in the choice of concrete as a material – it was a 30-tonne mass of 150 polished black blocks, bolted together to form a perforated 11-metre- long wall. One of the most exciting aspects of the work was its significance for the evolution of the Zaha Hadid studio.
