In a tweet on Tuesday, Omokri said he could make this claim because he personally took a trip to the varsity in 2022, to establish the truth and didn’t rely on speculations while parties were preparing for the 2023 elections. He clarified that while he continues to support Atiku, who requested four document categories from CSU regarding Tinubu’s graduation, it doesn’t prevent him from recognizing Tinubu’s legitimacy as an alumnus of the American institution. Omokri noted as a result of his investigation on the matter, he was able to counter Rufai Oseni, co-host of Arise TV morning Show as well as the station’s report on Tinubu being denied by CSU. According to the social media commentator, he isn’t the kind of person whose words falter and would always speak the truth whether it would end up favouring his enemies or hurting his allies. He tweeted: “I am one of the few persons whose stories NEVER changed. I fire to Chicago on September 18, 2022, and went to Chicago State University on September 19, 2022. I did not rely on the Internet, rumours, gossip or beer parlour talk. “On November 22, 2022, when Rufai Oseni and AriseTV lied that Chicago State University denied Bola Tinubu, I told them they were lying on air. That was three months before the election. “Two weeks after appearing on AriseTV, I was at Chatham House protesting against Bola Tinubu, whom I called out. “So, when exactly did I dump Waziri Atiku Abubakar? When I was saying before the election that Bola Tinubu was admitted, attended, and graduated from Chicago State University. “What I am saying today and what I said before, during, and after the election are the same. Controversy trails alleged monetary support to Oseni by Peter Obi

The reports that Peter Obi of the Labour Party allegedly funded the funeral of the late father of Arise TV journalist, Rufai Oseni have continued to generate controversy. Reno Omokri, a social critic, had asked the former Anambra Governor to come clean on whether or not he gave money to Oseni during the latter’s father’s funeral. Reno alleged that such support influenced the journalist into making political comments and analyses in favour of Obi. Omokri, in one of his tweets, asked Peter Obi to publicly deny ever inducing Mr Oseni financially, insisting Obi must answer if he did sponsor Oseni’s father’s funeral or not. Omokri said, “I asked a question that Mr. Peter Obi has NOT answered and has tried to use semantics to dodge. “My question is this: Did Peter Obi fund the funeral of Mr Rufai Oseni’s father by giving him money in cash or via electronic means, either directly or through a third party, and has that influenced Mr. Oseni’s open bias in favour of Peter Obi, whereby Mr. Oseni used the Arise TV platform as a medium to campaign for and launder the image of Mr Peter Obi, and his undisguised personal animosity towards me for my refusal to support Mr Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition.” But in his response to Omokri’s questions, Peter Obi dismissed the allegations, saying, “I have recently been mentioned to have bribed Rufai Oseni by financially sponsoring the burial of his father. “I have never and will never monetarily induce any journalist to speak or write in my favour. When I am invited to birthday celebrations or funerals, people know that I do attend. Countless journalists, media personnel, the less privileged, the wealthy etc have all invited me to their occasions, and they will attest to the fact that I honour such invitations, especially when people are grieving. ”I have never been to Rufai’s village. Even at the point of writing this, I do not know where he is from.” Insisting, however, Omokri said the presidential candidate did not answer his questions, claiming Obi, in his response, only tried to use sophistry to dodge answering the real question. He said, “Look, I have a Masters in Law and I am not moved by empty sophistry. I asked a question that Mr. Peter Obi had NOT answered and tried to use semantics to dodge. “My question is this: Did Peter Obi fund the funeral of Mr Rufai Oseni’s father by giving him money in cash or via electronic means, either directly or through a third party, and has that influenced Mr. Oseni’s open bias in favour of Peter Obi, whereby Mr. Oseni used the AriseTV platform as a medium to campaign for and launder the image of Mr Peter Obi, and his undisguised personal animosity towards me for my refusal to support Mr Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition? Yes or no.” He also asked, “Mr. Peter Obi, you did not respond to that question. You said you did not “bribe” Mr Rufai Oseni, however, that is not what I asked. Did you or did you not give money, either directly or indirectly, to Mr Rufai Oseni? Yes or no? Simple,” asked Omokri. Omokri, also accused Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni of threatening to kill him in a recorded audio and also lying to Nigerians that he obtained a subpoena from Chicago State University (CSU) denying Tinubu’s studentship at the institution. In a social media challenge, he tagged #PublishTheSubpoena, he called on the journalist to publish the said subpoena on Tinubu. Omokri also said that Tinubu graduated from the University just like documents from the institution, which he has also published on his handle, confirmed. “This is now the fifth day of my challenge to Rufai Oseni to publish the subpoena upon which he said that Chicago State University denied Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. “Rufai Oseni also challenged me to publish the document I was given by @ChicagoState University, which I did. “I also published their phone number (+1 (773) 995-2517) and their email address (CSU-Registrar@csu.edu), urging anyone who doubted the genuineness of the document and the veracity of what it contains to contact Chicago State University directly. “Now, I call on all Nigerians who want to know the truth about whether or not President Bola Tinubu attended Chicago State University to call on Rufai Oseni to #PublishTheSubpoena.” Since the matter became public knowledge, there have been online reactions to the development, further fueling the controversy. By • Olalekan Fagbade Tinubu’s University Records: You didn’t submit your UNN certificate to INEC – Omokri slams Peter Obi Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has questioned the moral ground, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the last election, Pete Obi, had to comment on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's certificate saga when he (Obi) also failed to present his own academic records from the University of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for verification. It will be recalled that Obi had, while reacting to the university certificate issues surrounding Tinubu, said people should be honest about their qualifications, insisting that educational qualification is not even a criterion to be a good President. He cited some American leaders who lacked good educational backgrounds. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, obtained victory in his fierce legal battle to probe the academic qualification of Tinubu in the February 25 presidential poll. Tinubu had supplied certificates from the Chicago State University, CSU, to INEC to secure eligibility to participate in the election. A United States of America court on Saturday ordered CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records for verification and in support of Atiku’s petition challenging the result of the 2023 presidential poll. Justice Nancy Maldonado, in a judgment, dismissed the objection raised by Tinubu against Atiku’s request and expressly ordered that the CSU must submit the academic records to Atiku. And on Monday evening, the records were made available to the PDP leader, although the authenticity is still being questioned by some sections of social media users. But Reno is calling out the Labour Party candidate for even suggesting that there could have been a fake certificate somewhere. “Peter Obi, Chicago State University, has backed Bola Tinubu’s certificate and stands by the legitimacy of his academic credentials,” he wrote on X. “Only yesterday morning, you were on AriseTV accusing a certain leader of having a ‘fake certificate.’ “Now, answer this question: Why did you not tender your own degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka to the INEC?”

‘Wike suffering from post-election trauma’, Dino Melaye rips into Rivers Gov

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Sen Dino Melaye, has accused Nyesom Wike of being an ingrate. Melaye made this allegation on Wednesday during an interview on AriseTV, adding that the Rivers governor would soon leave office, hence he does not want to talk about him. The former Kogi senator does not have the qualifications to be governor, according to Wike, who made this claim during a press conference in Port Harcourt on April 11. In response, the former federal legislator said that Wike’s disagreement with him was based on both his inability to clinch the party’s presidential nomination for 2022 and Atiku Abubakar’s rejection to pick him as his running mate. During the AriseTV interview, Melaye disclosed what former first lady, Patience Jonathan did to help Nyesom Wike become the Governor of River State. He also revealed that former governors of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Odili also helped Wike in his political ambition, while emphasizing that Mrs Jonathan spent her money, connection, and everything she had to ensure that Wike became governor. Melaye slammed Wike for being ungrateful to his past benefactors. He said, “Governor Odili made him chairman of his local government. So he has been helped by somebody. After Governor Odili helped him, Governor Amaechi made him chief of staff. Governor Amaechi helped him. Governor Amaechi nominated him to be a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Governor Amaechi helped him. Mrs Goodluck Jonathan spent her money, her connection and everything to make him the governor of Rivers State. “So everyone gets helped by one person or the other. But you don’t help people with the intention to enslave them, to control them and run their life and decisions. Once you give assistance to somebody, then you should allow the person to exist, but Wike, once he assists you and you don’t do his bidding and you try to say I have an idea or decision, he would go all out and advertise you and announce what he has done for you.” Melaye further described Wike as a drug and alcoholic induced individual, saying he has no time to talk about such a personality.
