A car just crashed on the street next to my house, the people are yelling, the police are here for some reason..? anyways, can't really tell, I never learnt to tell apart sirens. So, my brother is on the verge of being kicked out of school (he's not a gangster or anything, just bit a classmate who was hitting him with a book), anyways, all dogs in the neighbourhood started barking and I don't understand aritmetics and my pioner is too big for my backpack

Just did one of those deductive reasoning tests they have on job application sites (because I’m looking for a side job and I’ll do anything for money). They also miss the essential point—that mathematics is fundamentally about patterns and structures, rather than “little manipulations of numbers,” as she puts it. 

I completely agree; the education system overall turns maths into a torture... Understanding the logic of math, how it works and what are the recurring patterns in different subjects is much more important and fun, yet it is taught too abstractly and mechanically. Like we don't know what we use calculus or aritmetics for, but we are still forced to "learn" it. When you can't find a link between the subject and the real life, naturally, you can't bring ourself to care about it enough to actually learn it at all.
