INFO / STATS UNDERCUT.
01. first things first, i am aware that a lot of people haven’t seen crazy fun town. i highly recommend it. it’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you feel nostalgic. i digress because this will have a lot of horror aspects. a lot of the park kids died in really horrific ways. gonzo was the dj at the park in the 90s who got electrocuted going down a water slide whilst some loose, broken cords got wrapped around his foot on his way down. a lot of depressing topics will be mentioned considering gonzo had died suddenly and he's almost decayed to nothing due to his memory nearly being forgotten.
02. drama is not my thing. i avoid it in real life and you best believe i’m going to avoid it online, being that this is my hobby. i wont reblog callouts, but will read them. i’ll only reblog if the person is incredibly dangerous to make my followers be aware. no gross behavior with minor muses, either, thanks. don’t be transphobic, genderbend, whitewash, don’t be a racist asshole, don’t support n*zi imagery, don’t be a fucking dickhead.
03. oooooh i do love shipping! though, i do prefer a little bit of plotting beforehand. i think it’s very important to build a relationship ooc as well. i’m more comfortable to ship if we talk a little ooc.
04. i’m billie! i’ve thirty one years old and i’ve been apart of the rpc since late 2010. i’m an old lady. i’ve been around the block a few times. i work full time overnight ( twelve hour shifts ) at hospital & i have a lot of social obligations so i’m primarily mobile. most of my replies will be posted by queue due to this. my reply speed is slow and whilst i post a lot of ooc posts while at work & what not, it may sometimes take me a few days or even weeks to reply to a thread. patience is key! this is something i do whenever i want to destress and have fun.

Reading Triage
Well it's been almost a month since the last (library) one, so off we go; lots to be immediately excited about!
1. Hurricane Summer - Asha Bromfield: current read, roughly 50% in. It's painful how awful some of her relatives are, and I'm baffled that she gets so upset about her aunt calling her a slut for super innocent behaviors only to...immediately get frisky with the first boy who charms her?? Truly not beating the allegations here -- but it's also incredibly beautiful writing about a setting and culture I truly don't think I've read before (Jamaica, especially from the perspective of a Canadian citizen).
[edit: loved it]
2. Even If It Breaks Your Heart - Erin Hahn: 60% done but I've been working on this one for 3 solid weeks now, struggling thru first audio and then ebook on phone, then learned that county next door FINALLY bought a physical copy after all. Part of the struggle is formatting, but the rest is that it wants and deserves to be 4 stars so bad, but the You'd Be Mine-levels of jackhole in this love interest are dragging it down.
[edit: it did not get better but I finished]
3. Queen of Junk Island - Alexandra Mae Jones: so damned pretty that I'm reading it despite the fact that it's literally just a mid-2000s queer YA novel that had to wait until its author was old enough to publish it in 2022, in terms of both being set then and having its entire focus on becoming aware of/coming to terms with her non-straight sexuality. Which was absolutely never the kind of book I looked for. But I REALLY want the story of them cleaning up the family cottage from all the trash a previous renter left there. (side note: how did I manage to randomly pick two Canadian authors from my shelf browsing??).
[edit: worst book of the year with zero competition]
4. The Wishing Game - Meg Schaffer: I kicked it back unread last time but my request in the county next door has just come through. I really hope I love this one. Everyone I trust does, and it really seems up my alley, but I'm so terrified of reading this at the Wrong Time and it coming up short that I'm actually scared to start.
[edit: it was really lovely! glad I got to it]
5. Liar's Beach - Katie Cotugno: seems like a good summer YA thriller, and it has a sequel (companion book?) coming out in August.
[edit: I have read so many YA horror/thrillers this summer but I didn't quite get to this one. Later!]
6. The Dare - Natasha Preston: I'm expecting even less from this one than The Haunting, but it was available so what the hell. And at least this one actually takes place in summer.
[edit: least interesting of the 4 I've read from her, and an I Know What You Did Last Summer knockoff, but still worth it]
7. Between You, Me & the Honeybees - Amelia Diane Coombs: I don't like "our families are business rivals" stories, but I DO like stories about teens who would rather stay home and work for the family business than go to college, and this cover is so pretty that I'm ready to give it a shot.
[edit: the rivalry wasn't even an issue for me, and though I did have other things that weren't my favorite, this was an incredible YA contemporary]
8. The Spellshop - Sarah Beth Durst: releases in 2 days and will be bumped to IMMEDIATELY NEXT in the queue as soon as my library makes it available (I'm first in line). I'm trying to contain my excitement and moderate my hype levels but it's too pretty!!!!
[edit: five solid stars, everything I hoped for and more, one of the best books of the year]
9. (MAYBE) The Middle of the Night - Riley Sager: I don't think I'm high enough up in the request line to get this by the end of the month, but if it does happen to come in, this is the other book I'll drop everything for to read ASAP. My interest in this is mostly FOMO, and I'm kind of annoyed to have been caught up in it because EVERYONE reads his books immediately upon release, but I do generally enjoy them.
[edit: didn't arrive in time but definitely coming in August]
10. (MAYBE) Out On A Limb - Hannah Bonam-Young: I have read surprisingly little straightforward adult romance this year and I'm kind of missing it. I've had this hold paused for a bit but I might be ready to un-pause it soon.
[author's note: but then I wasn't!]
BONUS: AUDIOBOOKS
The Hundred and One Dalmatians - Dodie Smith (it is so hard not to shorten the title to 101!): a reread of a book I remember surprisingly little from for something I put on my "Top 100 Books Of All Time" list at age 19, but still remember fondly, because I got desperate & squirrelly for something to help me fall asleep.
[edit: not sure it would still make the list now but still really enjoyed]
2. Marvel's What If... Loki Was Worthy - Madeleine Roux: library doesn't have a physical copy, which is annoying because I hate reading on my phone but I also don't know if I can tolerate an audiobook that doesn't have the Correct Voices (though I really liked the 5 minutes of sample I heard), so I've been having to juggle this one until I can get both formats at the same time on Libby, to switch between them.
TBQH, my excitement for this has died down a little since I found out about in December (didn't release until April), but at this point I've been waiting long enough that I just kind of Want To Know.
[edit: what a fun cracky time, recommended]

Tonight we talk The Last Namsara by Kristin Ciccarelli
In hindsight I should have looked at when Maas was releasing her next book before putting tonight to just a few days later so if you’re still reading ACOSF, put it down for one night and NO SPOILERS while we gush about bad ass fighting women and the dragons they ride.
Don’t Forget to Give Your Input on Next Book Club Here
Please feel free to reblog, comment, or submit your answers to me directly, and I’ll be online tonight around 8:00pm to moderate the discussion. For those of you in a different time zone, feel free to post your thoughts now or queue them up for later, and if it’s easier to think and come back on it, we have alllllll month until next book club.
Don’t feel obligated to answer all of them, just the ones you want to chime in on, and they are numbered for reference.
Please remember to tag all posts #Lawblr Book Club so our friends can blacklist us, if necessary
Got your own question? Ask Away!
General Questions:
1 - What did you like best / least?
2 - Would you read more by this author?
3 - For someone who liked this book - what other titles would you recommend?
4 - If this story followed a different character’s POV, who would you pick and why?
5 - What scene stuck with you the most?
6 - What kind of lingering questions were you left with?
7 - Could you relate to the characters & their story arcs?
8 (a) - How do you feel about how we left each character?
8 (b) - Do you like books like this that are written about the time a king is overthrown, and leave the ~messiness~ of the socioeconomic fallout out of the final chapters?
9 - Were there times you disagreed with a character’s actions / would have done something different in their shoes?
10 - Were you rooting for any character or pairing in particular?
11 - Do you picture any specific fancasts when reading the book?
Story Specific Questions:
12 - Do you enjoy the mini chapters? The “stories within stories”?
13 - How did you feel in the beginning (before the reveal of what really occurred) when the story of Jarek the brave child turned into Jarek the man we’d like to throat punch?
14 - In many stories with the theme of oppressor / oppressed, we (the reader) enter hundreds or thousands of years into slavery. But in TLN, we come in after only two generations. How do you think this affects the story?
15 - There are little bits and pieces that remind me of past book club books - the black dragon, the slave neck collars, and the family deception. How do you think TLN compared to the stories that inspired these themes?
16 - How do you think someone like Asha - who has killed more dragons that anyone - can turn around to be a hero?
17 - Did you foresee the twist of the bone ring? The king’s deceptions?
18 - How believable was it for you that a world in which women can be married for alliance and politics co-exists with female soldiers and dragon killers? Can it?

Nov 13: Mittens (Sansa/Margaery)
Margaery is busy helping a customer wind yarn when Sansa slips into Rose Garden Yarn and Tea, so Sansa wanders over to a display of elaborate mittens on one table. Sansa seems to be developing a habit of stopping by the shop at least once a week, usually more. It’s definitely not good for her yarn budget, but the shop is so cozy. And Margaery always greets her with a smile and usually takes time to sit down and have some tea.
Sansa sifts through the sample mittens for a bit before settling on her favorite couch and pulling Ravelry up on her iPad. She definitely has to add some of the mittens to her queue, and someone has thoughtfully noted the pattern names on the sample tag to make it easier.
“New project?” Margaery asks. Sansa hasn’t even noticed her come over, but she’s bearing a tray with a pot of tea, two cups and a fresh lemon bar.
Sansa can’t help the smile that spreads over her face as she scoots over to make room.
This couch may be her favorite because it’s only just big enough for two people, and Margaery is so close Sansa can feel the warmth radiating from her body.
“I’m thinking of doing mittens for Christmas,” Sansa says. She adds a pair with guitars to her list. Robb would definitely like those.
Margaery’s eyebrows go up as she pours tea. It smells like vanilla, the Victorian Fog blend that’s becoming Sansa’s favorite. “You don’t have much time,” she says.
“Oh!” Sansa laughs. “Not this Christmas – next year. I’m almost done with this year already, just three more hats.”
“You’re already thinking about next year?” Margaery looks impressed. “That’s hardcore.”
“Well, I have a lot of family.”
“Oh yeah?” Margaery tucks her feet up under her. It puts her closer to Sansa, her head almost resting on Sansa’s shoulder.
“Well, I have three brothers and a sister,” Sansa starts. “My parents. Two cousins. Five aunts and uncles – well, 7 if my cousin Jon’s parents come back, and we never know until the last minute so I try to be prepared. And my brother Robb’s best friend, he’s basically family. And his sister. And Robb’s girlfriend. And Jon’s a cop, his partner’s family sucks, so he usually celebrates with us, too. And my sister’s boss, he doesn’t have family. Plus friends, my friend Jeyne and Brienne –” Sansa realizes she’s rambling and snaps her mouth shut. Especially before she can add “and you.” But Margaery is just smiling. “That’s a lot of mittens,” Margaery says. “I thought my family was big, but you win.” “Oh yeah?” Sansa asks.
“Well, I have three brothers,” Margaery says. “Plus my parents and my grandmother. But that’s it. And I definitely don’t knit for them, I’m not that good.”
“I’m sure you are,” Sansa says. “I’m really, really not,” Margaery says. “That’s Loras. But I’ve been playing around with dyeing. I really like working with color, I’m hoping to come up with my own yarns.”
“Oh, that would be amazing,” Sansa says. Margaery has the best since of style. She manages to look elegant and slightly sultry all the time, even in knitwear, and the way she pulls color together is gorgeous.
“And you knit for your friends too,” Margaery says. “You’ve known Jeyne and Brienne a while?”
“Oh, I grew up with Jeyne,” Sansa says. “She moved to Yi Ti, but we keep in touch. I just met Brienne a few months ago, but we’re definitely going to be good friends. I can tell.”
“How can you tell that?” Magaery laughs. “If you’ve only known her a few months.” “I mean, you just can,” Sansa says. She looks at Margaery, the sparkle in her eyes and the way her dark hair falls on her shoulders in waves. “It’s like, a connection. You know? Something sparks.”
“Sounds like dating,” Margaery says. “Maybe you should go out with Brienne.”
Sansa erupts into giggles.
“Oh god no,” she manages to get out. “Brienne is tragically straight. And honestly, she’s lovely but she has awful taste in men. She’s totally smitten with this rich jerk that came into the animal shelter, even if she won’t admit it. She would never.”
Plus, Sansa prefers petite brunettes to tall blondes, as much as she adores Brienne. “Brienne is straight,” Margaery says. “Interesting.”
Sansa blushes and looks down. She wonders if she’s said too much. She doesn’t know if Margaery is queer or not, and it’s not like the haircut is a giveaway anymore, now that undercuts are so trendy.
Sansa shoves a bite of lemon bar into her mouth, moaning a little at how good it tastes. She could just ask, but Sansa isn’t very good at being the one to make a move.
Which is probably why she’s in her early 20s and hasn’t dated anyone. Or done much of anything beyond some tipsy making out with Asha. Which definitely confirmed Sansa’s thoughts about her attraction to pretty, brunette women. But there aren’t that many women in Westeros who aren’t straight, and they don’t usually hit on Sansa, probably because she looks pretty straight herself.
Even Asha hadn’t expected her half-joking flirtation to go anywhere (though she was all too happy to continue when it did) and Asha is, like, the lesbian whisperer. “So,” Margaery says, before the silence gets too awkward. “What do you think then, Sansa? Are we going to be friends or something?”
The way she says something is a little loaded, and Margaery’s gaze is intense when Sansa glances over. “Or something,” she says, holding her breath.

asha x dany x oberyn x ellaria
@zaldrizidaria && @shewhoisironborn && @adornishviper
Who’s more dominant: Ellaria is more dominant in that when she wants attention she wants it now, but not forceful either, she just knows how to get the attention
Who’s the cuddler: Dany has the habit of coming up and around and just settling in next to any of the three. Asha is reading something she’ll just quietly settle in next to her. Oberyn is watching something, Dany will snuggle up next to him, maybe rest her head on his lap. Ellaria is out in the garden, basking in the sun working on her laptop, Dany will curl up next to her and nap.
Who’s the big spoon/little spoon: Dany is the little spoon, of course, all the time. Ellaria is the second little spoon. Usually Dany and Ellaria sleep in the middle of the bed. Asha and Oberyn take the edges of the bed.
What’s their favorite non-sexual activity: nights in away from duties, responsibilities, from non stop phonecalls and emails, just the four of them, watching a movie, putting on some music, cooking something, laughing
Who uses all the hot water: Dany will shower with scalding water, and it annoys Ellaria because the water is too hot for her to shower with Dany and then that means when she does shower there is no hot water for her. Asha doesn’t care because she likes her water cold.
Most trivial thing they fight over: fashion, omg, they all have their own specific fashion. they do.
Who does most of the cleaning: they have maids that clean up after them, but Dany is actually the tidiest of them all
What has a season pass on their dvr/Who controls the netflix queue: Oberyn and Ellaria have the dvr for themselves and Asha and Dany take over Netflix
Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: well, this doesn’t seem like it would be a problem with where they live, but Asha would be the one to handle this
Who leaves their stuff around: they all leave little things, Dany leaves her bags and scarfs. Ellaria leaves her hairclips and ties all over the place. Asha leaves her workout gear at random places. Oberyn is always taking off his shirt and jacket and never remembers where he left them.
Who remembers to buy the milk: The kitchen is usually stocked up by others they hire, but when they do go out to buy something, Dany usually goes to get any things they need. She has a list with her.
Who remembers anniversaries: They all do, but they all have different days they consider anniversaries. And they all have separate anniversaries. Ellaria is the one that prepares and celebrates the day the four became official. It is her favorite.
Who cooks normally: Oberyn cooks and they love it when he cooks. Ellaria bakes not often but she does. Dany has cookbooks and when she feels brave she tries one of the recipes. Asha doesn’t cook.
How often do they fight: Not often, they have arguments because there is four of them, and they are all have jobs, and responsibilities, and families that meddle so they definitely argue but they don’t have huge fights often. Fight fights are intense though.
What do they do when they’re away from each other: Ok. Dany likes to wear something of theirs. Ellaria has a playlist she listens to, specifically for those times. Asha carried a little photo album with her. Oberyn texts a lot. A lot.
Nicknames for each other: aahhh so let me think, term of endearments comes very easily from Ellaria, sweetheart, darling, love, Asha uses love a lot, they all call Ellaria ‘Ella’, Dany uses High Valyrian terms probably
Who is more likely to pay for dinner: Oberyn pays for dinner, because he pays in advance like he just opens a tab, calls it in, goes to the bathroom wrong he went to give them his card. The check doesn’t even ever come to the table.
Who steals the covers at night: Asha, she just doesn’t mean to but she ends up tugging the covers. Oberyn usually always the one who ends up freezing.
What would they get each other for gifts: ahhhhh, what to get each other that they can’t already get each other? so, Dany takes a jewelry class one time and learns how to make jewelry for Ellaria, Asha takes up knitting and knits a hat for Dany, Oberyn takes carpentry lessons and carves sculptures for Asha, and Ellaria fashions a special line for Dany
Who kissed who first: screaming so many possibilities, ugh, ok, Ellaria and Dany kiss last, I think Dany is nervous around Ellaria at first, but Ellaria doesn’t see why but she lets Dany kiss her when she is ready. She doesn’t push it. Asha kisses Dany first before she heads out to do something probably, and then Dany kisses Oberyn. While Ellaria is the one to kiss Asha. And between Oberyn and Ellaria, Oberyn kissed her first and one of the few times he surprised her. Just want to add that I think Ellaria is not easily surprised, and if she is, she doesn’t show it, she just looks all cool all the time.
Who made the first move: i feel i answered this with the previous one, but ok, some things happen so simultaneously I feel. Dany and Asha growing close, both fighting to be the rulers of their country, and Oberyn grows close with both of them as he speaks on their behalf and trusts them and also wants Westeros to no longer be under Lannister rule. And Ellaria and Oberyn are in a relationship already, of course, and she really falls for them through Oberyn who talks about them when they are together, or on the phone, or through video calls.
Who started the relationship: And i think it is Ellaria who sits them all down, who speaks to all of them and really works at making this a cohesive thing. I think she’d be the one cement the relationship and figure out where they all stand and how they would all move forward from there.
Who remembers things: Oberyn, actually, remembers so many little things. It is a little freaky sometimes.
Who cusses more: Asha hands down cusses like a sailor cause she is and it is great. I want to say Ellaria is the second one and it comes to a surprise to everyone.
What would they do if the other one was hurt: Ah, anger, revenge, someone will pay for hurting them, you better believe it, and depending on who was hurt and how they were hurt there would be guilt from unable to stop them getting hurt.
Who is the dirty talker: Oh dear, ugh, Ellaria? I want to say Ellaria will be the dirty talker and would command the bedroom
A head canon: oh god, they spend a lot of time separate, handing their own respective duties, so they really are thankful for the advances in technology, like video calling. they do it a lot. as often as they can manage it with different timezones.
#Anonymous#;voicemails#zaldrizidaria#shewhoisironborn#adornishviper#[so this is a modern verse clearly and i had so much fun with this thanks for sending!]
