Also ik you're probably very busy but have you detailed the process for turning your traditional art into a format you can edit and post digitally anywhere? How do you do that :0

Hi!! doin ok today <3 ty for asking :)

I actually haven't tried explaining that before but I'm gonna try now!

(The fun part is how I never know what the final layouts gonna be like until the very end, its like a mysterious puzzle )

For starters I always do this process on procreate on my iPad, its just the most convenient to me.

1) Photograph your drawings! Aim for even lighting and get close enough to the drawings so that you wont have to crop in and lower the quality.

2) I then import all the photos of my drawings that I plan to compile into the procreate document - take this guy, here's what his base photo looks like:

3) Then - one at at time using the selection tool : automatic I select the outer page color and drag back and forth till the selection is something that preserves my lines but also retains some of the paper too ! Because i have a lot of broken lines in my work its really fun to see what happens with this.

4) Then! if the lighting was not the most ideal in my original photo, (if the papers too dark or the lines aren't dark enough) I go into curves and mess around a little bit until I like the contrast. :)

Then! i just play around and see if the drawings I wanna include fit together - sometimes to make sure they flow I might digitally draw in something like an arm.

Bonus: Occasionally I might wanna spice up the composition a little further so ... On a new layer fully filled with the paintbucket tool, ill then mess around with blending modes, often landing on either Overlay or Vivid Light to tint everything.

Final touch: just in my own preference, I like to add a little border :)

hi can i ask for tips on animation ive only just got an ipad and i have no idea what im doing

Oh man I wish I was good enough to give solid advice I really struggle with it myself if I’m honest. Uhhhh- Here’s some things I’m currently trying to internalize!!

Learning to trust the process is so hard but essential. As with anything really, but with animation especially there’s a lot of phases before it’s the pretty final we all want to see.

Start with the big actions and genuinely save the nuance for last.

USE reference!!! Take reference of yourself, break it down, act out everything. Analyze what is motivating and leading the actions. Don’t just wing it 😭 lmao

Really familiarize yourself with the 12 principles of animation there’s great videos on YouTube to start.

Also- study the animation you admire and wanna emulate by framing through it on YouTube with the < and > keys on your keyboard see the spacing of the frames , the nuance and how they achieved what you love about it.

That’s a start at least ! I hope it’s helpful! I’m right there right you if I’m honest :,D def keeping asking people though! I am unfortunately just not the most confident in my abilities (yet) -

It all comes down to practice thoguh- understanding these general principles and utilizing them and then putting them into use will 100% be the key to improvement and getting the ball rolling for u! I beleive in you!!!

Oh! Also- genuinely start with things like ball bounces (of different weights and Materials) - and paper falling (with and without outside forces like wind) . There’s so many things to learn from those exercises alone- and before I ever tried animating a human jumping I did a flour sack which was great practice !! Build your way up!

Animating is a whole entire skill set but it is probably the coolest thing !! it’s why I’m so determined to learn it myself :) 🤝❤️

Feel free to ignore, but I found your art blog again and was wondering if you still make art process/speed paint videos? I love your style and artwork so much, it's one of the most unique I've ever seen. I've been wanting to learn how to paint better and felt I could learn a lot by seeing how you go about it

I’m so so flattered thank you for your kind words! 🥺❤️ I happened to privatize the two speedpaints I had uploaded to YouTube just to have a cleaner looking channel lol, however if people are genuinely interested perhaps I could put them in unlisted playlist and still post speedpaints every once and a while :)
