I'm trying out affinity designer's free trial, and i'm not gonna finish this tonight, but it's pretty cool I guess. There's a lot of functionality I straight up forgot existed from adobe that is pretty nice to have back, but its taking a bit of getting my head around, for one reason or another.

For comparison, here's a similar thing i did in Penpot, which is an open source figma alternative. It's nice enough to use, but crashed a couple times, and the web app part annoyed me enough that i didn't want to keep using it. That said, i did this in the same amount of time, and I'm much happier with it, so i dunno. I think i'll warm up to affinity designer once i get my head around it.

yippee! the idea of using some sand to shape out a landscape worked pretty well, and now i have something to paint over. I never really learned how to paint, but i think it turned out pretty cute!
