Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL

ZEXAL1 Pairings: Mizael/Kaito Characters: Kaito Tenjo, Akari Tsukumo, Mizael, Orbital 7 Content Warnings: Musicals, Theatre, Blackmail, Double identities (Kaito pretends to be a world famous actress), fluff, humor Summary: Threatened with an unsavory article about his escapades with Yuma and friends, Kaito is forced to stage a musical for all of Heartland to see. 

Unfortunately, the only musical he knows is ‘Manhattan Sweep,’ a story about a southern belle going up to the big city. The requirements of the deal also states that he has to play the lead role. With some thinking, Kaito announces that a foreign actress by the name of Arabella Kelinski will be taking the role of the titular protagonist. 

The thing is, though, Arabella doesn’t exist.

A fantasy AU that's a sequel for the story I did last year; includes dragons, magic, transformations, and love triangles that end in a threesome. Even more Guardian!

So this is just a bunch of random tidbits on my thought process behind the Riders I've come up with.

Guardian's gameplay habits are inspired by my own habits in Yugioh, with her deck being designed for my personal preference in playstyle, versatility being the highest point of interest. Her attitude is also supposed to remind you of your average Yugioh protagonist, confident in their abilities too a fault.

Draconis' personality is supposed to be a bit like Takeru Homura, Soulburner, from Yugioh VRAINS. Though this could just be me misremembering very badly, when we meet Takeru irl he's a quiet upstanding kid, while in Link VRAINS as Soulburner he's got a more fiery personality. I thought this would work really well for dragon wielding rival on the hero's side, while facing off in the game he's very loud and boastful, while outside of the game and especially when fighting he's a quiet, stoic fighter.

Frost's concept came about when I started listening to Sabaton, and he's inspired by the song Solider of Three Armies, and the man the songs about, Lauri Allan Törni, a Finnish sniper who served in the Finnish Army, German Army, and American Army with the specific goal of kill Soviets. One of my favourite riders is also Kamen Rider Snipe from Ex-Aid, and the development space of trying to create a deck that works with a sniper from a frozen home got me excited. This origin is also why what would essentially be his V-Cinema form, Frost Ace, uses 3 decks. Personality and story wise he's supposed to be similar to Ibuki Kouji from Vanguard, with his

Barbatos came to be a concept for the story when I was thinking through card game anime tropes. I ended up thinking back to probably the most influential to me from ym childhood, Yugioh GX, specifically to Aster Phoenix. He's Jaden's first real loss that breaks him, and I wanted this kind of moment for Guardian. I won't do into details, but Barbatos is supposed to be her first overwhelming loss in a long time.

Okay 35 episodes in Vrains character ranking: 1. Ghost Gal/Emma. I hate to say it but she slays. Love my queen who absolutely sucks at dueling I'm obsessed with her. She would be me if I had to link into the vrains 2. Playmaker/Yusaku. Autistic king with some of the most consistent and heavy scripting I've seen on a character to the point where I wonder if the whole autistic coding thing is... intentional? Obsessed that he hates everyone. What a guy. 3. Blue Angel/Skye. Sick as hell design, like her arc so far despite the fact that she is a victim of ygo misogyny. She gets more genuine wins than any woman in Jujutsu Kaisen tho, so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much

4. Kolter. The hotdog running gag is kind of annoying imo but I think he's such a fun supporting character and having a character dedicated to helping facilitate the Clark. Kent/Superman thing is really smart and really helps the whole show work.

Sora my vaguely menacing fusion son. Even he doesn't know why he's doing things half the time

Yuya obviously. Character designed for me love his failguy but still winner sensibilities

Futoshi my beloved doodle dinosaur son who is only in this show to be silly and fun

Masumi because I love that she's just allowed to be kind of petty and mean and actually has a plot while Yuzu is unfortunately being a wet blanket about Yuto

This list features all the legacy characters who got major support in main sets and Duelist Packs since VRAINS era, and which of those are not in Duel Links yet. Original list had a huge disclaimer, so I might re-write it, but for the time being, you will only have the list itself.

This list covers only VRAINS era onward Main Sets and Duelist Packs, all other sets and promos are ignored, as they are not as important.

For Main Sets and Duelist Packs, only Japanese versions are focused on. TCG versions do not matter.

This list only covers legacy characters who got major support. Characters and decks who got one-off support like Desmanian Devil(Chumley/Hayato) or Animadorned Archosaur(Hassleberry/Kenzan) are not listed, even if they got major support later on, like Chazz/Jun’s Ojama Duo. Same goes for one-off retrains like Dark Honest.

Only supports are listed if they are intended for a character specifically. For example, recent Monarch support isn’t listed for Sawatari, as it is not directly intended for him.
