Paul Reiffer

Reiffer who is a landscape and cityscape photographer writes in an article testing the 'light pollution filter' that with the "light bouncing around, our view (and our ability to capture it) continues to diminish on a daily basis". Despite Reiffer capturing landscapes around the world as he travels, he understands that some do not have the legs to travel to remote locations, making it difficult for those who live in urbanised areas to photograph night skies. The photographs above show comparison images (no filter on the right, light pollution filter on the left). Reiffer further mentions his post-production settings to refine his photographs, which include: altering colour temperature, and tone curves.

Reading this article made me think about the accessibility of a beautiful night sky and the disadvantages I personally have as a photographer who lives in a suburban area. This could also relate to a wider audience living in urban areas, who don't get to experience the night sky as well.
