we are only thankful for the tunes around here
I've been a little lax posting new shit, even on IG, so here are some recommendations
in 2020 i fell down some rabbit holes, and one of the rabbit holes was goth/post punk.
One of my current favorites is this band from Australia, Locust Revival. They began as a one-man project, but added two members last year. This is a brand new song, and one of their more shoegazey numbers.
I don't know how such a weird dissonant band can get catchier every album, but they do.
2023 has been grindcore year with so many bangers dropping, your fave may not even have the best record this year. (I'll show you the best grindcore record in just a minute). Atomck from the UK bring chaotic powerviolence with some unique vocal styles.
grindcore album of the year, right here.
there's been a sort of industrial metal revival in the underground, and if you ask me, Dome Runner are the stars. Combining Godflesh, Fear Factory (Concrete era) and taking it in a sludgy direction, they may have dropped the best EP of 2023.
My guy Marc dropped a new album this year. Instrumental bass and drums sludge doom, with tons of atmosphere.
Afterbirth's new album, which goes in some wild directions, more progressive than ever, while still keeping that brutality.
(I kind of have a guest vocal spot on this)
Garry Brents envisions an alternate universe where nu metal wasn't a mass produced major label creation in his new project Memorrhage.
hypnotic darkwave that gets stuck in your head for very long periods of time.
G.G. from Cosmic Putrefaction is back to take you on another journey. This time around, they venture in and out of some symphonic black metal.
. . .and I've hit my limit for audios in this post apparently.
bleh.
follow me on Instagram for more tunes, and also live vids I take so I don't forget what shows i went to in 6 years (since nobody has physical tickets anymore.

Listen To Atomçk's New LP 'Every Room In Britain' In Full @atomck
UK grindcore trio Atomçk release their blistering new album ‘Every Room In Britain’ this Friday, but you can hear the entire thing right here, right now, as well as being in with a chance of winning a test press of the record, complete with limited hand-drawn artwork from guitarist Luke Oram. The band have been grinding for over a decade now, and in direct defiance of the generally accepted…

This is going to be a goodun so keep Sept 21st free y'all.
Corrupt Moral Altar + Human Cull + Atomck + Burden of the Noose.
The recent Corrupt Moral Altar 7" (Whiskey Sierra) is incredible, 10 minutes of totally extreme brutality, roller coasting it's way between faster metallic riff soaked thrash and slower episodes of grinding sludge. With screamed vocals from the lead (seemingly coming from Hell would you believe (ha!)), backed up by the rest of the band on more human (tho def not humane) hollerings Corrupt Moral Altar are the real McCoy.
Heartfelt aural assaults don't come any better.

ATOMCK & The NA Effie Awards Present: 2017 Winner Spotlight
Pop-Tarts & VML, “Pop-Tarts Soda-Mazing”
August 23, 2017
The North American Effie Awards and ATOMCK have teamed up to present a special interview series featuring winners from the 2017 competition. Alan Hart, Managing Partner at ATOMCK and host of “Marketing Today,” sat down with these marketers to discuss insights from their Effie-winning work.
In this week’s 2017 Winner Spotlight, Hart spoke with Angela Gusse, Marketing Director for Pop-Tarts at The Kellogg Company, to discuss the “Pop-Tarts Soda-Mazing” campaign, created in partnership with VML.
Gusse notes that Pop-Tarts’ target consumers are teenagers, who, in today’s world, often find themselves bored and constantly using technology to find entertainment. Gusse and her team like to keep their advertising interesting and disruptive, and she knew she needed a campaign that would stand out from the virtual clutter teens navigate every day on their phones. Her team researched the trends and interests of teens and developed an eye-catching and viral campaign. A combination of popular musicians, crazy flavors and the latest app combined to create the “Pop-Tarts Soda-Mazing” campaign.
The campaign was a perfect example of multiple partnerships working together seamlessly to create never-before-seen content. The Dr Pepper Snapple Group joined with The Kellogg Company to cook up creative Pop-Tarts flavors like A&W Root Beer and Crush Orange. The crazy combinations began with the food and extended to commercials featuring mashups of teens’ favorite artists. The Kellogg Company partnered with Universal Music Group to find artists to mash-up each other’s songs using the popular Smule karaoke app. This idea culminated in DNCE and Ne-Yo teaming up, as well as Keke Palmer and Easton Corbin joining forces, to record and sing each other’s songs, which teens could then play in the Smule app, with the option to join in and see themselves singing beside the musicians. It was untraditional, like the flavors, and a big hit, trending on Facebook in its opening week.
“Pop-Tarts Soda-Mazing” by Pop-Tarts and VML took home an Effie in the Packaged Food category at the 2017 North American Effie Awards.

Pariso have just put up this new video, The Huntsmen. They also confirmed they're playing @thecroftbristol on 1st July.
What they didn't say was that the rest of the incredible lineup are:
Weekend Nachos + The Afternoon Gentlemen + Witch Cult + Atomck + Shoot The Bastard + TFU
Especially looking forward to seeing Witch Cult again after they shook the Gryphon to it's foundations a month ago.
In the words of The Minutemen "Hey lawdy mama".
