Why is this going the way of a failed SpaceX launch?!? WHO ARE THEIR PEOPLE?!? WHY DON’T THEY HAVE A CELESBIAN CONCIERGE WORKING WITH THEIR PR REP?!
Also, those of us with eyeballs and experience know this timeline is fucked.
The Sherlock Homos are assembling this overlappy timeline as we speak. All I’m getting from this is that at best, they were having an emotional affair, at worst, they went to Cannes to cheat in private.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bush, 41, and Harris, 37, went public with their blossoming love affair this week and both are currently in the process of divorcing their spouses. They said they have only been together for two weeks.
The One Tree Hill actress filed for divorce from ex Grant Hughes in early August citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ while Harris initiated a formal split from wife Ali Krieger, 38, last month.
A source with knowledge of the situation has told DailyMail.com that Krieger was blindsided by the split, with Harris telling her their marriage was over with no discussion after her return from Cannes.
The source said: ‘Apparently Ashlyn came back right after Cannes, ended their marriage and said there was nothing to even speak about regarding it. Just over.’
Video posted to Instagram by bourbon brand Johnnie Walker showing the feminist panel event on June 19 includes a section where the new couple smile and giggle together, with Bush reaching over to touch Harris as they discussed 'the impact that deep, creative partnerships can make to challenge societal systems and narratives.'
A beaming Bush is also seen telling Harris ‘love you’ during the public panel discussion.
The pair have claimed they have only been dating for two weeks, with a source telling People that there is ‘no salacious story’ behind their new relationship or impending divorces.
The insider added: 'After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago.
'Although it's new information to the public, Ashlyn and Ali's divorce began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer.
'This is so recent, and they are both beginning new chapters.'
The new couple have been spotted together repeatedly in recent weeks and were pictured together at Seattle's Lumen Field on October 6 where they watched OL Reign's final home game of the season.
OL Reign's star player is Harris' USWNT teammate Meghan Rapinoe, 38, who has played for the soccer franchise since 2013.
In the clip, which surfaced on Tuesday, Bush is seen hanging out with Harris and a group of friends.
The video shows Bush and Harris walking side-by-side onto Lumen Field after the match before enjoying a celebratory chat with Rapinoe.
In polaroid photos shared by Kari Fleischauer, an executive at LA's Angel City Football Club, the lovebirds are seen posing with their heads pressed close together for a group shot.
Weeks before their trip to Seattle, Bush and Harris enjoyed a 'cozy' double date in New York City with What Not To Wear star Stacy London and her girlfriend Cat Yezbak, according to Page Six.
An insider claimed that Bush and Harris have already been dubbed 'Bushlyn' by their friend group and that the soccer star 'snuck' into the Beacon Theater, where they watched comedian Chelsea Handler perform on Friday, September 29.
'Ashlyn snuck into the theater wearing a mask to join Stacy, Cat and Sophia,' the source told the outlet.
'It wasn't clear they were on a double date until Stacy moved over so Ashlyn could sit next to Sophia.'
It was not until 'the lights dimmed for the opening act' that Ashlyn decided to '[remove] her mask.'
Bush's surprise rebound romance with Harris comes just two months after she filed for divorce from her husband of one year Hughes.
On Tuesday, a rep for the 41-year-old told Page Six that he wants Bush to be happy. The rep said: 'Grant will always want the best for Sophia and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled.'
The divorce is the second for Bush who divorced her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray in 2006 after a union that lasted just five months.
Bush attempted to get the marriage annulled on her grounds of fraud, but her efforts were unsuccessful, and the divorce was ultimately finalized in 2006.
She then went on to date Jon Foster, her co-star on Stay Alive for a year. She also dated another One Tree Hill co-star Austin Nichols on and off for eight years.
Harris, meanwhile, had been with now-estranged wife Krieger for 13 years, with the pair meeting at a 2010 USWNT training camp.
The couple tied the knot in 2019 with Rapinoe serving as Harris's maid of honor. The pair went on to adopt two children: daughter Sloane Phillips Krieger-Harris, two; and son Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris, 15 months, in 2021 and 2022.
Harris filed for divorce from Krieger on September 19, saying their union was 'irretrievably broken.'
Krieger has yet to make a public statement about her ex-wife's new romance with Bush, but she did take to Instagram after the news broke to share a quote.
'Sleep well tonight, sis. Major shifts are happening. Things are changing. Doors are opening,' it read.

Protection - Prologue
Tumblr media
Summary: August Walker is assigned his newest mission named Mia Makaruku.
August Walker x Mia Makaruku (Asian ofc)
Wordcount: 1.1k
Warnings: Mentions of a car accident and death.
A/N: This is so different than the fluffy stuff I usually write and also my first time writing for August Walker 😬 I hope that this doesn’t disappoint and that you like this as much as I do 🥰
Masterlist // Next chapter
As raindrops are pattering lightly on the window, August Walker sits in the rented U-Haul outside of the apartment building in Chicago, Illinois. His new home.
He takes one more look at the thick file in his hands, his thumb running over her name and he starts shaking his head. He still cannot believe this is his newest mission and he was practically forced into taking it. This isn’t what he usually does. Everything about this operation is something he never did, even before he started working for the CIA.
However, the second he was clearly briefed by Erika Sloane and understood this particular job description, he came to the realization that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not because the lady he had to watch, protect and befriend was something he really wants to do, but because this case is connected to the myth he had heard so much about.
The money and the files, all securely hidden in a safe no one knows where it’s located. He heard about it when he started working for the CIA and it intrigued him, but there were no connections to anyone or anything.
August opens the file again, taking in once more the picture of twenty five year old rising soccer star, Mia Makaruku. He has a hard time believing this Dutch-Indonesian player, who moved to the USA years ago to play professionally here, is connected to the legendary safe.
Mia is, however, a very interesting looking woman, the type that would make him strain is neck if she walked passed him. Her long wavy hair matches the color of her irises. Thick eyebrows and round cheeks, making her look youthful. Despite the serious expression, she has this twinkling in her light brown, nearly doll like eyes.
Mischievous.
Quite intriguing.
To prepare himself for this job, August watched some of her interviews and he must admit that it’s pretty admirable to see how she carries herself. Especially after going through the stuff she went through as a kid.
At the age of four, Mia was involved in a car accident, together with her parents and three brothers. The Dutch emergency number was called by an unknown woman (who has yet to be found till this day), telling the dispatcher where the accident had happened and that from the looks of it, a man, a woman, three boys between the ages fifteen and twenty and a very young girl were trapped in the vehicle.
By the time the paramedics arrived however, the very young girl was the only one left, sitting on the pavement next to the smashed up vehicle, holding her arm closely to her body as she stared at the trees. She didn’t respond to the efforts of the paramedics, who tried to figure out what happened. She kept repeating: ‘My name is Mia. Mia Makaruku. My name is Mia. Mia Makaruku.’
She went from one foster family to another, barely being able to settle there for more than a year. Not because she was a handful, quite the opposite really. According to the files, almost every family was smitten with her, because of her lovely personality. The reason she kept moving from one family to another, was because specialists spread over Western Europe desperately wanted to figure out Mia’s story.
Yet, nothing seemed to work. She never broke, never told anyone anything about her parents or her brothers. It almost seemed like her family simply vanished out of her memories and never existed.
Despite the disadvantages she has faced in her life, she managed to make a name for herself and she is a well loved player, known all over the world.
But there is one thing August has yet to understand and Erika did not explain it to him either, probably because she doesn’t know either. Why does the CIA think Mia is connected to the legendary safe that was deemed a hoax many years ago?
Mia maybe wasn’t in the system, which is indeed suspicious and no one knew anything about this family. No one recognized little Mia, which made it difficult to identify her family, whose bodies still haven’t been found to this day.
But how is there a connection between her and the safe?
While his job is to find out what happened, he has to keep in mind: Mia was only four years old when her family died. Even if they were connected to the safe and its belongings, how was a young girl suppose to know the fine details about it? While this can seem an impossible task, he figured out stuff during his CIA career with even less clues.
This will be a piece of cake. Besides, Erika did not give him a specific time slot to do this, meaning he can take all the time in the world.
He rummages through the file again, scanning the screenshots made of her Instagram account with his eyes. Mia barely shares pictures of herself. The only recognizable pictures available of her, are those shared on the accounts of her club, taken during her training sessions and competitions and screenshots made by fans during her games. She doesn’t share pictures of her own face on the account missmiamakaruku. It almost seems like a pretend account, however it is verified and the CIA established that the account indeed belongs to her.
But another question arises: why does she barely share pictures of herself online? Is there a specific reason she does this? Is it because deep down she is aware of her possible connection to this or to anything significant?
August doubts it, because even if she was aware of a possibility of the connection to the safe, she wouldn’t have become a the star soccer player she is today.
The center of attention.
August sighs deeply, as he closes the file, staring ahead of him. He must admit, this job is a nice change of scenery. He has done many missions for the CIA and this one almost feels a step closer to a normal life. Something he has craved for so long deep down.
The only thing not normal about this, is the fact he has to keep a close eye on this particular woman, who is an inspiration to girls all over to world.
Erika Sloane specifically told him to befriend her, so maybe he can actually force her into remembering something important by the time she completely trusts him.
August looks to the side at the apartment building. This place, right here in Chicago Illinois, is going to be his new home, for as long as it takes for Mia Makaruku to break.
And he can guarantee: she will.

So due to popular demand I watched episode 2 of Walker for you guys. Part 1 of 2
So here’s my review of episode 2 of Walker. Is this going to be the episode where Walker lassoes a person? We’ll see.
The episode is titled “Back in the saddle” and I am already wishing I was eating my cookies. But the batter needs to rest in the fridge first, blah blah.
Night sky. Horses in their stables in the darkness. Security cameras switching off…? Fire! Someone set fire to the stable. Someone hurries to get the horses out. It’s clever, I’m actually invested in making sure the horses are okay. Maybe they’re luckier than Mary Winchester. Wait, wrong show.
The last one is trapped! A brave guy tries to free him but a wooden beam falls down and kills him. Oh no. Did someone at least save the horse?
The ridiculous title card plays, and then our favorite former Supernatural lead currently starring in a new show appears. He loads what looks like a toolbox in the back of his truck. There’s a horse saddle already on the truck. Soft music and the yellow sunlight shining behind him announce this is an emotional scene. The saddle has a leather bag on the side, with the initials of Walker and his wife engraved on it.
Ta-da! Flashback of Walker and his wife. Thankfully she is not elvish vision glowing this time, although the blurry effect of the flashbacks still make me think of a Lord of the Rings ripoff.
Tumblr media
The saddle was a gift from her! Walker makes this face so we know he loves it.
Tumblr media
Look at how ridiculous this is.
Tumblr media
They’re trying sooo hard to appeal to bibro Supernatural fans. They’re BEGGING for the attention of bibro Supernatural fans. I’m not sure if redoing SamandDean iconic moments but with Walker and his dead wife (played by who I assume some hardcore bibros believe is Jared’s beard) is the best way of doing it? I mean, I wouldn’t take that direction. But okay. We take our Meaningful Moments from Supernatural because our viewers are not invested in these characters but are invested in those ones, so at least we’re provoking emotions by making them think of those ones. It is a strategy, I guess.
Fuck, I spoke too soon! The glowiness is not too strong - it is daytime in this flashback and not nighttime like in the pilot - but it’s there.
Tumblr media
Back to the present, Walker is on the phone with his mother, explaining he’s back at his place to fix a leak or something. If the kids have been living with their grandparents and Walker has been away for almost a year, how is the patio so clean and pristine? But wait, someone’s been there. There are empty beer bottles. And then the funniest frame of the show so far.
Tumblr media
Stella is a teenager. In 2021. Which teenager in 2021 texts like someone who had to spend 20 cents for text and press the button four times to get an s? Her father should be the one texting like it’s 1999. Stella would be the one texting like phones have automatic capitalization and predictive text and shit...
There is absolutely no fucking way the place can be so clean and pristine if no one’s lived there bar some teenagers who drank beer in the patio. But okay.
Oh no. Another glowy flashback. Holy shit. Why. We get it. He misses his wife. They had the perfect little life together. The music they use in the flashback is starting to give me a pavlovian response.
Even Jared is unhappy. Look at his unhappy face.
Tumblr media
In the meanwhile, Ramirez and her boyfriend are having fun when her boss calls her. She dresses up to go to the fire stable place, in the meanwhile they have a conversation about their relationship. She has never really had a longterm serious relationship, and she’s confused because, I quote, “I am one of the first women ever, one of the first women of color, ever” [that’s it sentence finished]. I can’t believe Ramirez has been around for thousands of thousands of years.
She needs to focus on her job and he’s a distraction because he has a six pack. No, that’s literally the scene. He takes off his shirt and we see his six pack. Now, he’s a pretty impressive physique, that’s not a problem. Why isn’t he the main character of a show about doctors?
Meanwhile, Walker joins the family for breakfast. The brother, Liam, is great at making smoothies. What an interesting all-rounded gay character.
Walker’s mom says they should stay living with them because it means stability for the kids. Walker says they should move back to their house because normal whatever. Stella says, does it even matter to you where we want to live?, and leaves. August reveals she goes back to the house sometimes, meaning the beer was hers and she lied. Draa~ama. Stella is the only interesting character in this family.
Jared makes another discontented Jared thing at the end of the scene, I can’t gif them all, and we get to the crime scene. “Fire’s no way to go” Walker comments, because they watched the Supernatural pilot before writing the show.
Oh no, the horse didn’t make it either :(
So, the stableman who died had just come out of prison. Oh no. Is this another plot about convicted criminals doing shady things after they get out of prison? It must be, otherwise this detail wouldn’t be relevant since the guy just died. Oh no.
Ooooh James, the new boss, is making some changes which include following the rules to a t. Meaning Walker has been demoted until he passes all the tests again. I need to show you the face, sorry
Tumblr media
This is it, this is Jared’s acting in this show.
Walker tries to argue with Captain James, but he says he wants to be “on the right side of history for a change”, so he cannot have him run around doing whatever he wants. James isn’t happy that he went to look at the footage of Emily’s murder again. He tells him again that the case is closed because a guy confessed, and he needs to focus on his family and job now. We’ve heard this so many times I’m so bored. But guys Jared’s acting gives us gems
Tumblr media
Ramirez starts talking about the test, but he’s off, she asks him if he’s good and he says I’m fine. I’m Fine Lie #3! I think, I’m not really counting.
Something about the case. Whatever.
Stella is training for the big upcoming soccer match. Why can’t this be a sports show about teenage girls playing soccer? I can even give them a pass about calling it soccer.
Stella and her friend Isabel chat and Isabel says “ICE is sniffing around”, which I’m sure is not what ICE does.
I take it back. I don’t want a show about teenage girl soccer. Now there’s drama because Stella and Bel shouldn’t be playing in the big game because of their arrest, but apparently Stella is good and the couch will let her play, but not Bel, so she refuses to play. Unsure if this is about racism or Bel simply isn’t a great player. They should have made it clearer…
Meanwhile Augustus chats with a schoolmate called Ruby. Yeah. It had been too many minutes without an easter egg.
Walker and Ramirez take the tests. First shooting range. Then driving. He’s very good at these things. I’m bored. I don’t care about cops showing off their cop skills. I’d rather watch Ruby and Sam, er I mean, Augustus talk about high school projects, and I don’t care about high school projects.
I made the cookies in the meanwhile :)

Let’s Try This Again
August 21, 2017 12:47pm
The dampness of the air lingered on every blade of perfectly shorn grass. The mud and chalk melded into a homelike aroma, welcoming JJ back, as she strolled from her car in flipflops and oversized sunglasses. She wrinkled her nose; those boys were going to be a smelly mess in this heat. As she crossed the football field, she spotted him taking shots at the goal, bouncing the balls at all angles and doing bicycle kicks and generally goofing around. He was in his element, his grin wide across his features, which was understandable; he still believed himself alone.
JJ burst into a comical round of applause as he hit the turf hard, after an overly ambitious kick forced him into something resembling a snowboarding move.
“Need a hand?” JJ peered down as he lay with his chest heaving.
“Nah, I’m good. The grass will bury me by next week.” Luke Alvez waved off her outstretched hand. “What are you doing here Jareau?”
“Had to make sure my boys were on their best behavior,” She kneeled beside him, now lounging on his side.
“So, you’re not checking up on me?” Luke teased, balancing his forearms on his knees, unable to settle the excitement within himself. “Cuz I’d say you have enough to worry about right now.” She leaned back, rubbing her perfect baby belly affectionately. “What’s the countdown to now?”
“29 days, but who’s counting?” JJ glanced down her nose. “Come on, humor me with some drills. I need to move.”
“Whatever you say, boss.” Luke rolled a nearby ball her way before dramatically flipping back upright.
That’s how the students found them, their new coach playing goalie as their overly pregnant coach kept him dodging for every corner of the box with her pristine aim. The upperclassmen suffered through tryouts before school began each year as their games started the second week of September, freshmen rarely made starter squad anyhow. If the boys wanted to learn something about grit, these were the best teachers they could have asked for. Not that teenagers ask for things so freely given.
Friday September 1 10:32am
It was as if no time had passed, they filed into the Delaney Owens Memorial Library with casual conversation spilling over the meeting’s set start time. The faculty of the Frederick Buchanan Institute gathered for their annual staff pop-wow. Penelope Garcia sat straight backed at Headmaster Hotchner’s left as her boyfriend and football coach, Derek Morgan leaned casually beside her, making small talk with veteran math teacher, Jordan Todd.
“Alright, everyone, let’s make it official. Welcome to the new school year, for those of you unable to attend our little development weekend in July, we have two new staff members this Fall.” Hotch gestured to the middle of the table to his right. “Luke? Would you like to introduce yourself?”
Luke nodded and held up his hand in a short wave, “Luke Alvez, your new Foreign Language teacher and interim soccer coach. Originally from the Bronx, played professionally after college and have been teaching in California and most recently the Carolinas for eight years.”
“Thanks, alright, now the other new face. Matt?” Hotch looked to the far end of the table, the statuesque Asian man smiled slyly with only one cheek.
“I’m Matt Simmons. I’m filling in for Coach Jareau’s classes while she is on leave. I am currently taking a leave of absence, myself, as foreign correspondent for Al Jazeera, but before that I was on the D.C. political scene.”
“Oh, the girls are going to eat you boys up!” Mrs. Todd teased the pair of attractive new teachers.
“Jordan.” Hotch chuckled.
“Oh, who am I kidding, this day and age, everyone is going to love you.” She sighed, spinning back to the headmaster in her seat.
“Right, anyway, welcome, to you both. Penelope?” Hotch kept the meeting succinct.
Ms. Garcia squealed quietly as she spun to address the whole faculty. “Friends, teachers, countrymeh- peoples. Hi!” The meeting continued, Penelope and Hotch covering the new schedules and upcoming events. Something in the air felt more relaxed than years past, as if the summer had yet to release the staff of her transfixing spell. They made their way to the cafeteria, Chef David Rossi’s delights tantalizing their noses from halls away.
“I’ve got to be honest, I am surprised Jareau didn’t make it today,” Luke confided to Emily and Hotch.
“I was surprised I got her to stay home,” Emily deadpanned. “I’m sorry about tryouts, she really doesn’t listen to reason.”
“No, it was fine. Besides, kept the guys on their toes, her shooting past me even with that big belly.” Luke smirked, Hotch sighed as Emily’s face fell.
“She was playing?!”
“What?” Luke froze. “Uh, no, not really.” His face a mask of fear and inability to lie. They had arrived to find their meals waiting. Two tables set equally for seven, saving Luke from the awkward explanation, he quickly followed Spencer, who was chatting with Alex and Stephen animatedly.
“Smooth, Alvez.” Derek patted him on the shoulder as Emily stepped passed them, anxiously checking her phone. Matt Simmons was the last one to join his coworkers, Rossi had already served everyone and had sat himself between Kate and Tara. This left the last free seat next to Alex Blake. He slipped between the Drama and Debate teacher and the ever-bubbly Guidance Counselor. “Ladies, how are we doing this afternoon?”
Alex didn’t respond but held his curious gaze as Penelope began excitedly chippering away to his right.
Tuesday Sept. 5 10am
The summer heat hadn’t relented for two weeks, leaving the players exhausted and desperate after only an hour of running drills. The linemen had the field while the quarterbacks and wide receivers were working through their flexibility drills inside. May Howard never wanted to tackle her own teammates as badly as when they were able to walk back into the airconditioned school.
“Submariners! Positions!” Coach Morgan barked from his perch on the sled. “That means you too, Turner!”
Lucas filled in beside May as their hands and heads fell into line across the turf. Their lungs strained as they waited for the starting whistle. Their coach eyed them, leaving the moment lingering; training their reflexes as much as trying their patience. Then the blast, a jolt of force pushed the large metal framework.
“Don’t stop, get it,” Derek pushed his team. “You go until the play ends. You go until their line breaks and then you take them down!”
May hated being shorter than the guys in moments like this, her legs crossing twice as many steps to keep up with theirs. Lucas laughed as the Coach drew out his ending whistle. Their bodies burning hotter than the midday sun.
“Shower up. We hit the playbook tomorrow. Hard.”
12:57pm
Azalene Curtis could not believe this is where they had been enrolled for the new school year. The place was a freaking castle, she gawked out of the driver’s side as pulled up to the parking lot nearest the Rothschild Auditorium. Her little brother, Jackson, was running late for Freshman Orientation and of course she had to be the one to drop him off. Her hair was braided and wrapped around her head to keep its weight back and off her neck. She helped her brother out of his side of the car and walked him to the doors that had been propped open.
“Lena, you can go now.” Jackson grunted, his elbow crutches easily maneuvered over the lip of the door frame.
“Are you sure? This is an old building, make sure you ask for help if there are too many stairs.” She always worried he would be too pig-headed and miss a class, something their parents tended to ignore when it did happen.
“Are you going to be like this all year?”
“What? Looking out for you? Hell yeah, high school is vicious.”
“You said the same thing about middle school.”
“And I was right, wasn’t I?”
“Whatever, loser, see you later.”
“Have fun, Jax!” Lena turned to descend the slightly inclined walking path. A sleek red convertible came to a screeching halt at the sidewalk. A tiny Hispanic girl nearly jumped from the passenger’s seat as her older brother called from the driver’s side.
“Don’t be rude, Rita. It looks bad on all of us!” Ignacio Cruz reprimanded his freshman sister.
“Go to Hell, Iggy. I’m only rude when you make me late!” And she ran past the Curtis siblings as if they weren’t even there.
Wed. Sept. 6  7:31am
“Good morning everybody. My name is Matt Simmons and I will be filling in for Coach Jareau this fall. I know formality is expected here, but I believe in mutual respect. If you can act in an appropriate manner, you get to call me by my first name.” He stood at the front of his first hour Journalism class in a fresh gray button down matched with a black and white paisley tie. He read the crowd easily, from the overly attentive girl in the front row to the completely disinterested guys in the back.
“You’re actually the Matt Simmons.” Sacha Kane took a quick picture of him. “Best first day of school. Ever.” She read her caption to her Instagram post barely beneath her breath.
“Guys? No pictures, this is a classroom.” Matt sighed. “For those of you who don’t know me, I am a reporter with Al Jazeera. I have a bachelor’s degree from NYU and a master’s from GW.”
“You’re also Hannah’s uncle.” Iggy Cruz added from his perch in the last row, attempting to bring the new teacher down a peg.
“That is correct, Hannah Chang is my sister’s daughter.” Matt smiled easily, arrogant senior guys weren’t really that intimidating after reporting in conflict zones for the past ten years. “And your father is on the Board of Regents and Maya here is Mr. Walker’s daughter. It’s really cozy here at F.B.I., isn’t it?”
“We’re all about getting cozy, handsome.” Sacha leaned back, biting her lip.
“Ms. Kane?” Mr. Simmons raised his eyebrows. “Are we going to have a problem?”
She rolled her eyes and sat up straight, his voice switched from sultry to commanding in an instant. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting from his first day teaching, but this certainly hadn’t been it. Mr. Simmons turned down the lights and began his opening presentation. He left the class with reading assignments and to bring in a print media example of a current events opinion piece for the next day.
“Way to piss off the new teacher, Sacha. Since when do we have homework on the first day?” Jake sassed down at his flirtatious classmate on the way to his second period.
“Jakey, come on. He had that ready before I even snapped a pic.” She grinned confidently. “This semester is going to get me past ten thousand followers.”
10:36am
Luke Alvez’s throat hurt from talking during his morning classes. He started the semester with simple conversations, introductions and asking about the students. Second period was the beginners, but most of the teens had some knowledge of the language as their household staff or nannies may have spoken it around them. There was only one crack about tequila or cerveza, which he chalked up as a win. Now that he was done with his long stretch of classes, he realized how early in the day it was to have lunch.
“I feel like I just had breakfast.” Luke admitted as he grabbed his plate from the cart that Rossi had wheeled in to the staff dining hall, before ducking back to the cafeteria.
You’re telling me, man. But if you don’t eat now, you’re going to regret it.” Derek shared from experience.
“How’s your first day going, teach?” Kate teased as she dug into her perfectly prepared meal.
“Pretty good, all things considered. I guess Penelope was teaching them at the end of last semester, so I can’t really win any popularity contests.”
“Yeah, don’t sweat it, man. My girl has these kids by the heartstrings and their parents by their wallets, but she was not meant to be teaching. Trust me.” Derek Morgan chuckled.
“We’re just glad you’re here now. Let the craziness of last year be left in the past.” Tara added in her comforting voice.
“Funny the history teacher is talking about leaving things in the past,” Alvez chided.
“Oh, watch out, he’s got the comeback.” Derek egged his coworkers on.
They continued like that up until the bell rattled them back to reality. The easy banter hinting that perhaps this team was going to work out while past line ups had left people slipping between the cracks.
3:42pm
Spencer had been to the principal’s office numerous times over his academic career. Usually as the victim of some sort of bullying, the bruises hidden beneath his oversized clothing. Once it was because he had explained something during a biology lesson and his lab partner thought he was sexually harassing her. And another had been because his history teacher deemed him a distraction to other students and he had to remain in the principal’s office for the remainder of the quarter during that class period. The principal promptly retired the following summer.
These experiences were racing through his thoughts as he knocked on Hotch’s office door after the first day of the new school year. Clammy hands betraying his nerves.
“Come in,” the headmaster’s voice genial. “Reid? Everything okay?”
“You tell me,” Spencer didn’t sit but stood with one hand in his pocket to hide the tension it held. “I have fewer classes on my schedule this year and you gave Sociology to a glorified cameraman.”
“Matt Simmons has an undergraduate degree in Sociology, Reid. He is more than qualified to teach an introductory class on it.”
“As do I. In addition to my three doctorates in other fields.”
Hotch eyed the younger man. “Reid! What is this really about?”
“Do you think I can’t handle the course load? Did I somehow lower the standards with a full schedule?”
“Last year I lost two qualified educators, one to a personal vendetta of a student and one to trauma from the hands of another student. I cannot put my faculty at risk of burn out or exhaustion when the very people we are charged with nurturing could, rather poetically, bite the hand that feeds them.”
“This isn’t about my curriculum?”
“No.”
“Or my attempt at a stargazing club?”
“Not at all, though that really was just asking for kids to sneak off and neck.”
“Neck?” Spencer rubbed his absentmindedly, not getting the reference.
“Spencer,” Hotch leaned on his desk top, signaling the science teacher to sit as well. “I purposely gave you a prep period this year. I don’t want you to work yourself sick. We need to all be on our A game. That means accepting a break, even if we think we’re invincible.”
Spencer’s lips curled into a blushing smirk. “Clever word choice, Hotch. Invincible is late Middle English but has Latinate roots; ‘in’ and ‘vincibilis’ respectably.”
“Reid.”
“Sir?”
“I asked a lot of you, and even more so of Penelope, last term. This is my way of trying to remedy that.”
“Oh.” Spencer caught on. “Well, it was my pleasure. Besides, I kind of owed it to her, too.”
“No, you didn’t, but that’s what makes you a great teacher, Reid. You care so deeply, you take on the burdens of other’s growth. Just make sure you’re taking care of yourself too, yeah?”
“Yeah, okay.”
Friday Sept 8 6:12pm
Maya Walker scrambled through loading the dishwasher, causing both her parents to glance between themselves. She had three different chapters to read, a dozen geometry problems to proof out and a trumpet solo to prepare for seating auditions next week. The pressure was starting to sink in. She gave up snapping Meg Callahan and just called her on speaker.
“This is only the first week of the next four years of my life and I am DROWNING, girl.”
“Hey, Maya.” Meg’s voice sounded overly cheerful.
“Did you just answer the phone at the dinner table? Nu-uh, Kate is going to kill you!”
“Rough week? That sucks,” The line became muffled as Meg clearly played on her aunt’s sympathies to get excused early from the family meal. “Okay, I have ten, twelve minutes tops before she is going to call your mom and check on you.”
“You didn’t have to answer, dork!”
“I couldn’t stand it! Chris was doing light saber noises while trying to convince Kit to eat his Brussel sprouts. They’re Brussel sprouts! It is physically impossible to like them until you’re at least twenty-five!”
“Preach!” Maya filled in. “But seriously, I am dying. Do you have homework? Maybe we can hit the bookstore tomorrow or Sunday. I am going to lose it if I am stuck in my room all weekend.”
“It’s the first week of school, I have like one page of Algebra homework.”
“Which could take hours.”
“Mrrrrrrp. Nope, sorry. I can’t draw it out that long.”
“Please? Because you value me as a friend and person?”
“Maya Walker, don’t go begging now!” Meg cackled. “But seriously, I am sorry you have so much work. And I am slightly terrified for next year. Hey, you said you signed up for Journalism, right?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Is Mr. Simmons as hot as Kate is saying he is?”
“Whoa, go Kate!” Maya cheered on the nurse’s taste. “Yes, he is built like a Greek god, with all the ageless beauty of his Asian roots.”
“Ugh, I wish my teachers were hot.”
“Dude!”
“Okay, well, like, not our parents, obviously.”
“I should hope so!” Mara shuddered. “But seriously, Journalism is first hour, he already knows my name and who I am. It’s going to be a long year.”
“Still a great view to wake up for every morning.”
“Whatever, traitor. So no study sesh this weekend?”
“Nah, sorry. I am babysitting and then we have something on Sunday.”
“You owe me!”
“Yeah, yeah, well I better scram. Hugs!”
“Thanks, Meg. Talk later.”
“Yep.”
Maya hung up the phone and fell dramatically into the mound of quilts atop her bed. She was procrastinating, but something about two days and four assignments felt daunting. After twenty minutes on her favorite puzzle game, she gave in. She got out her trumpet and got to work.

Soccer Announces 2021 Fall Schedule

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Having played a condensed spring schedule, the Western Oregon University soccer team will look forward to a full fall schedule for the 2021 campaign.
It will be a home start to the schedule with a pair of exhibition contests taking place towards the end of August in Monmouth. WOU will play Linfield on Aug. 24 and Portland State on Aug. 27, with both games being played at home and will count as exhibition contests.
WOU played Linfield last year in an exhibition game in McMinnville claiming the 3-1 victory. Hannah Rispler, Alyssa Tomasini and Liz Parker all recorded goals in the game. The Wolves rolled to the exhibition victory during the 2019 season taking the 6-0 win that was also played in McMinnville. Linfield played several games during the spring as well, going 7-1 overall. Michayla Sponsel led the team with nine points, while Laney Green had a team-high three goals. In net, Madi Reimer played in all eight games, coming away with five shutout victories.
Just a few days later, WOU will welcome in Portland State. This will be just the second time since 2000 that the teams will play in Monmouth. The Wolves won the first two meetings in the series in 2000 and 20001, while Portland State has victories in the last two meetings in 2002 and in 2005. It’s been even over those four matches, with neither team winning by more than a goal and each team scored five goals. Portland State went 0-8 during the spring season, with Paige Donathan leading the team with four points and a team-high two goals. In goal, Enya Hernandez started all eight games, collecting 49 saves.
The final exhibition of the fall will arrive on Aug. 30 when WOU travels to Klamath Falls to face Oregon Tech. The Wolves are 2-0 against Oregon Tech since 2009, with both wins coming in Monmouth. The most recent meeting took place in 2016 with WOU claiming the 3-1 victory. Oregon Tech played a full spring schedule, going 12-1-1. Mehana Ortiz led the team with 29 points, while Maddie Miller added a team-high 11 goals and 23 points. Three players saw time in goal, with Alyx Burkhartzmeyer playing in 10 games, picking up seven shutout wins and two combined shutout wins.
When the calendar rolls to September, WOU will open the regular season in Colorado against Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa. It will be the second straight fall season that the Wolves have traveled out to Colorado to start the regular season, having played Western Colorado and Adams State to start the 2019 year.
WOU will face Western Colorado first on Sep. 3. The Wolves rolled to a 6-0 win over Western Colorado back in 2019 in the only meeting between the teams. It was the first win as head coach of WOU for Kacey Bingham, as Tomasini tallied a pair of goals. Western Colorado went 1-8 during the spring season with Jessie Jacobsen leading the team with four points and a team-high two goals. In net, Kaeyla Noble and Grace Walker each saw time, with Noble picking up the win.
To finish the Colorado road trip, WOU will play at Colorado Mesa on Sep. 5. This will be the first meeting between the schools. The Mavericks went 5-4-1 in the 2021 spring season, with Lila Dere leading the offense with 14 points on seven goals. Lexi Newton added eight points. In goal, both Chloe Dody and Emily Signorio saw time, with Signorio collecting three wins and 20 saves.
The Wolves return home from that trip to host Sonoma State and Humboldt State. WOU will play the Seawolves first on Sep. 10. The two teams have played each other a lot since 2000, but not recently. Sonoma State has gone 7-1 during that time with all but three of the games played in California. The most recent meeting took place in 2010 with Sonoma State taking the 201 victory. The Seawolves have won the past six meetings, with the only WOU win coming in 2002.
Sonoma State, part of the CCAA conference, didn’t participate in any sports during the 2020-21 season, so their last games were in 2019 where they went 15-4-1, advancing to the NCAA West Regional. Alexis Espitia led the team with 18 points, posting eight goals. Julia Pritchard added 10 points. In goal, Ashley Morton started all 20 games, tallying eight shutouts and recorded 61 saves.
Humboldt State will come to Monmouth a few days later on Sep. 12. The two teams played this past spring in an exhibition contest with the Wolves taking the 4-1 victory. Tomasini recorded a hat trick on her way to being named the GNAC Player of the Week. Humboldt State holds a slight 9-7-1 record in the series since 2000, as the Jacks have won the past three meetings in the series not counting the most recent exhibition win for WOU.
Humboldt State went 1-0-1 during the spring 2020 season in countable games, as they played a total of five games going 2-1-2. They finished the season tying with Portland State and then claiming a 1-0 win over the Vikings. In the two countable games, Brooke Weese led the team with two points, coming away with a goal. Alexis Aguilar started in goal and posted a shutout win.
The first GNAC games of the season arrive near the end of September when WOU will play at Saint Martin’s and Western Washington. The Wolves will face the Saints on Sep. 23 in Lacey. The teams split their meetings this past spring, with WOU taking the 3-2 win in Monmouth before Saint Martin’s claimed the 1-0 win in Lacey. In the meeting in Monmouth, Tomasini, Camille Darland and Piper Matson all recorded goals. WOU holds a 11-10-4 edge in the series since 2007, with the Wolves holding a 5-4-1 advantage over the past 10 meetings.
Saint Martin’s went 1-10 during the 2021 spring season with Kiersten Madsen leading the team with 11 points, recording five goals. Lexi Caceres added four points on a pair of goals. In net, Ali Campigotto started all 11 games, recording a shutout and 63 saves.
WOU will continue the road trip on Sep. 25 at Western Washington. The two teams played one neutral site game during the 2021 spring season with the Vikings taking the 3-0 victory. Western Washington has gone 9-0-1 over the past 10 meetings and are 33-5-1 in the series since 2000.
During the 2021 spring season, Western Washington went 4-1-2 with Estera Levinte leading the team with eight points, posting three goals. Zola Carbone added six points on three goals. In goal, Natalie Dierickx saw a majority of the time, picking up three wins, two combined shutouts and 10 saves.
A pair of home games arrive on Sep. 30 and Oct. 2 when WOU welcomes in Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings. WOU will play the Falcons first, as the two teams played twice during the 2021 spring season with SPU taking both wins. The Falcons have gone 35-3-1 in the series since 2001 and are 9-1 over the past 10 meetings.
The Falcons went 8-0-1 during the 2021 spring season, with Sophia Chilczuk leading the way with 28 points and 10 goals. Claire Neder added 21 points and eight goals. In goal, Riley Travis went 6-0-1 with two shutouts, two combined shutouts and 17 saves.
WOU finishes the two-game homestand against MSU Billings on Oct. 2. The two teams didn’t play during the 2021 spring season, as they split the 2019 meetings with each winning on their home fields. MSU Billings holds a slight 11-10-4 series edge since 2000, going 5-3-2 over the past 10 meetings.
The Yellowjackets went 4-5 during the 2021 spring season, with Jordan Roe leading the team with seven points and three goals. Lexie Bloyder and Izzy Menning added four points apiece, as each scored two goals. In goal, Clare Keenan started seven games, grabbing three wins, 35 saves and was part of two combined shutouts.
The final two games on the first look of the conference teams will take place Oct. 7, Oct. 9 and Oct. 14 against Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene and Simon Fraser. WOU has gone 17-12-8 against Central Washington in the meetings since 2000, going 3-3-4 over the past 10 meetings. The two teams didn’t play during the 2021 spring season, as the teams split their 2019 meetings with each winning on their home fields.
During the 2021 spring season, the Wildcats went 2-3 with Grace Jackson, Makinzie Packwood and Jayme Woodfill leading the way with four points apiece. Packwood and Woodfill each recorded two goals. In goal, Megan Fox played in five games, picking up two wins and a combined shutout, along with 10 saves.
WOU finishes the road trip on Oct. 9 traveling to Idaho to face Northwest Nazarene. WOU has gone 21-12-6 in the series since 2000, but NNU holds a 4-3-3 edge over the past 10 meetings. The two teams met twice during the 2021 spring season with the Nighthawks taking both meetings. The Wolves played a tough rematch game in Monmouth for Senior Day, coming close before NNU claimed the 2-0 victory.
NNU put together an impressive run during the 2021 spring season going 11-0. McKenzie Buell led the team with 19 points and six goals, while Ashley Parton added 17 points and seven goals. In goal, Alexis Montoya started 10 games, going 10-0 with six shutouts and one combined shutout, along with 12 saves.
Simon Fraser will travel to Monmouth on Oct. 14. Simon Fraser holds a slight 10-8-2 advantage in the series since 2001, as the teams didn’t play during the 2021 season. The last meeting came in 2019 in Canada and WOU took the 3-1 victory. The teams have split the past 10 meetings going 5-5.

Soccer legend Pelé turns 80 on Friday, isolated at home
Soccer legend Pelé turns 80 on Friday, isolated at home
In this August 1969 photo, Brazil’s Pele – who turns 80 on Friday – scores past Venezuela keeper Fabrizio Fasano in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Associated Press
SAO PAULO — Brazilian soccer great Pelé turns 80 on Friday, but the celebration will have to wait.
The three-time World Cup winner will spend the day isolated with a few family members outside Sao Paulo, where he is expected to receive a flood of tributes from players, fans, celebrities and politicians.
Brazilian soccer legend Pele attends the 2018 World Cup soccer draw on Dec. 1, 2017. Alexander Zemlianichenko/Associated Press
His longtime spokesman, Pepito Fornos, said Pelé will likely spend his birthday at his mansion in the beachfront city of Guarujá, on the coast of Sao Paulo state, where he has been since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also has residences in Santos and Sao Paulo.
“He will only stay with his family. No party at all,” Fornos told The Associated Press. “That has been the case all his life.”
Fornos said Pelé isn’t speaking publicly because he is still mourning his brother Jair, who died of cancer in March.
Pelé is Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 77 goals, although Neymar is closing in on that record with 64. But the Paris Saint-Germain striker trails far behind when it comes to World Cup titles, which Pelé won in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
No other player has accomplished that feat.
Pelé also collected a slew of trophies for Brazilian club Santos from 1956-74, including 10 Sao Paulo state league titles, which was a top tournament at the time, six Brazilian championships, two Copa Libertadores titles and the Intercontinental Cup in 1962 and 1963.
The Brazilian ended his career with the New York Cosmos, where he played from 1975-77, winning one national title and attracting sports greats like boxer Muhammad Ali to watch him play as soccer took root in the United States.
Pelé was also Brazil’s sports minister from 1995-98. Two years later, he shared the FIFA award for player of the century with Argentina great Diego Maradona. The Brazilian received the most votes from members of the soccer body, while the Argentine prevailed in an online vote.
Since 1992, Pelé has done charity work as a U.N goodwill ambassador. He stopped his career as a businessman in 2004 after failed attempts in the sports marketing field.
The soccer great has had mobility problems since a failed hip replacement surgery in 2012. He has been forced to use walkers and wheelchairs in public. He has also been admitted to hospitals in recent years for kidney and prostate procedures.
The celebrations in Brazil for Pelé began on Feb. 20, but he didn’t attend the unveiling of a life-size statue of him at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro that day.
That was also part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Brazil’s 1970 World Cup triumph, which was for many the greatest moment of Pelé’s decorated career.

Champions League: The rules players are following during ‘final eight’ in Lisbon
Tumblr media
Manchester Metropolis’s gamers arrived in Portugal on Monday
Uefa’s acknowledge to a Champions League competitors disrupted by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic is a ‘supreme eight’ knockout tournament performed across 12 days in Lisbon.
Soccer’s popularity is at stake and, in response to Europe’s governing physique, the staging of future global suits if protocols are no longer adopted.
in Lisbon, all eight teams and their officers, together with Premier League side Manchester Metropolis, are required to persist with the foundations from a 31-online page file.
Some of them will compose lifestyles very varied for the elite of European football.
Resort lockdown
The seashores and sights of Lisbon will probably be out of bounds, with gamers most effective allowed to transfer away their hotels with prior settlement – and even then they are able to no longer come into contact with any individual start air their community.
Within the hotels, gamers will have to include non-public ranking admission to routes and a non-public eating dwelling, whereas food must peaceful most effective be served by the group’s possess group.
Need your pants washing? Apparel and instruments can most effective be dealt with by group group.
Slack line-up changes?
The lifetime of a footballer this demonstrate day entails hundreds of tests for coronavirus and the Champions League bubble will probably be no varied.
Assessments include been done before golf equipment left for Portugal – two folks associated with Atletico Madrid include already returned particular outcomes and no longer been allowed to scamper.
Assessments will additionally be applied in Lisbon the day before every game. Uefa has promised the outcomes will probably be delivered – on the most up-to-date – six hours before kick-off.
But one or two particular tests may per chance result in some torn-up group sheets and tactical masterplans.
It’s a long way worth noting Uefa’s tips stipulate that offered a group can self-discipline 13 ‘A listing’ gamers, plus a goalkeeper, video games desire to transfer ahead. If a group can no longer possess that, they would be allowed to elevate in any new signings who had no longer been registered.
Uefa would inspect on the aptitude for rescheduling on a case-by-case basis. Alternatively, given the Champions League supreme is presumably no longer moved from 23 August, the truth for any group no longer able to fielding a side is that they would doubtlessly desire to forfeit the fixture.
A replicate in front of the lavatory
As if coronavirus tests weren’t sufficient, there are additionally medication tests to contemplate.
Doping control officers would normally inspect from end quarters when gamers manufacture a urine pattern.
But, to enable the officer to inspect from a socially distanced role, gamers can include a replicate dwelling up opposite the lavatory – which may per chance presumably be fair a little disconcerting.
Disinfected transport and VIP exit
Manchester Metropolis’s Kyle Walker collects his acquire after arriving in Lisbon
Planes and buses must be thoroughly disinfected and, “to minimise contact with the trendy public”, gamers may per chance be the utilization of VIP arrival areas at airports.
The suggestions for leaving the bus are less glamorous – you correct desire to be conscious to exercise the central door and no longer ranking off on the front.
Pennants certain, shirts no
Fans of pre-match reward exchanges will probably be relieved – pennants can peaceful be swapped before kick-off. But any individual eyeing up Lionel Messi’s shirt will probably be disappointed, as gamers are no longer favorite to swap jerseys.

last bandom rec post of 2017
Fic and podfic that I haven’t recced here before, for various Bandom pairings, mainly MCR and FOB. Happy ending unless otherwise specified. In chronological order of original posting date:
Wednesday-verse by arsenicjade. First story is PATD, second is MCR. Apparently this series was all the rage in early bandslash fandom; I'm slightly late to the party, but no less enthusiastic! The first story is hookerfic, but mostly about the relationships between the hookers, not about relationships between hookers and johns. And MCR run a free clinic because they want to save everybody, obviously. Podfic of the MCR story by knight_tracer. (2007; podfic 2012)
Podfic by inkjunket of Sing Ourselves to Sleep by Dira Sudis. Gerard and Patrick have a special moment during Warped Tour. The podfic was the first MCR podfic posted to the Audiofic Archive! (fic June 2007; podfic October 2007) How Life Can Be by sevenfists. Pete/Patrick tourfic. (August 2007)
The Way It Works by anew_leaf (bayleaf). Gerard swears off sex with men; Frank convinces him to change his mind. (August 2007)
Podfic by inkjunket of The Sky-High City by sevenfists. Post-band story written pre Danger Days. Frank is depressed and goes to stay with Gerard in California. The story is so jossed at this point that it's barely recognizable, but it's still cute. (fic August 2007; podfic March 2009)
An Inexplicable Occurrence of Angels by stele3. AU in which Frank is a fallen angel who turns up after MCR loses its record contract and Gerard is still living in his parents' basement. (December 2007)
By the Numbers by shoemaster. AU in which Gerard is a fine artist and Frank is his accountant. Very cute, and RsCreighton podficced it for me! (fic December 2007; podfic December 2016)  Sweet Caffeine (and Love of Liberace) by bayleaf. Brian makes them do it. Stagegay meta fic. (January 2008)
Nightswimming by Waxjism, the incredibly long and incredibly worth listening to podfic by greedy_dancer, who apparently spent 5 years working on this. I could listen to greedy_dancer's voice all day. The story is a small town AU with Gerard suffering from depression and Frank falling in love with him while dealing with changes at home. Happy ending! (fic February 2008; podfic completed May 2016)
Love: The Package Deal by jjtaylor. amnesia and polyamory and pining and feelings all over the place. Not sure why I delayed reading this so long, since I love everything else by jjtaylor. (BBB 2008) frank/gerard college au not!fic by mxtape (September 2008) Ghost Frank series by jjtaylor. So I checked back to see if I had neglected to read anything else by jjtaylor and Holy Shit I had. I must have passed over this before because Frank starts out as, well, a ghost, and I am not a fan of character death. I did cry, but it has a happy ending. Possibly a little too saccharine, but I needed an antidote. The haunted house and creepy supernatural mystery elements were genuinely frightening to me reading in bed after midnight in my dark apartment.... (December 2008-January 2013)
[a marriage of convenience] by jae_w. Jon Walker/Tom somebody. I don't know who Tom is, and it doesn't matter. AU! (January 2009)
Asimov, the Deleted Scenes, plus sequel, by stele3. Lindsey meets inventor!Gerard and all his little robot friends. (March 2009)
Only Going One Way by ataratah and jjtaylor. A delightful Due South crossover/fusion! Gerard is a mountie, Frank is a Chicago cop, Mikey is missing. (June 2010)
Podfic by klb of The Anatomy of a Fall by novembersmith. 13 hours long high school/ghost AU with lots of plot and a happy ending, but ghost AU means one of the characters is still deadish, so. I cried. (fic June 2010; podfic January 2013)
Heads Up, Hearts Down by inlovewithnight. Pete/Mikey soulbond high school AU (July 2010)
Podfic by argentumlupine of Can Never Wrong This Right by theopteryx. historical academic Indiana Jones-ish AU with temporary bonding and lots of pining. Frank is Gerard's TA. (fic July 2010, podfic January 2013)   Making Other Plans by skoosiepants. Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas AU (December 2010)
Away With The Boys In The Band by inlovewithnight. Very amazing and long history of the band with always-a-girl Mikey. I didn't know what the end game ship was going to be, although I really should have, but I read it for the girl!Mikey and mental health stuff so I didn't care. The Gerard & Mikey sibling relationship is also interesting. (June 2011)
podfic by fire_juggler of Pages In Your Passport by inlovewithnight. AU: Pete is a professional soccer player; Mikey is still in MCR. If anything, it ended too soon. (fic August 2011; podfic July 2012)
podfic by argentumlupine of Half of Something Else by fleurdeliser and tuesdaysgone. Frank/Gerard/Grant. AU where MCR didn't happen, Frank is Grant's assistant, and Gerard is a comic book artist. (fic August 2011; podfic September 2016)
The One Where Bob and Patrick Live Together by Bexless, anonymous Bob/Patrick podfic (fic 2011; podfic December 2017)
Hold Your Heart into This Darkness by tuesdaysgone, podfic trilogy by argentumlupine. Gerard/Korse, Frank/Gerard. Amazing Killjoys verse story with happy ending. I was nervous initially about the power dynamics of the Gerard/Korse pairing in the first part, but it worked so well I kinda shipped it, uh, which should not have been the takeaway from how that relationship played out. (fic 2011/2012; podfic 2014) Other People Were Too Sentimental by skoosiepants. Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas high school AU (February 2012)
Podfic by Rhea314 of Fog, Sheets and Thunder by Theopteryx. Post-apocalyptic postal service AU, with sound effects! Set underground in a nuclear winter, but it ends on a positive note. (fic March 2012; podfic August 2013)
Pete Wentz: Failiest Ally by girlpearl and melusina. Pete/Gabe, but mostly about Pete being in denial to a ridiculous degree. (April 2012)
Podfic by jenepod of We Used To Be Friends by ladyfoxxx. AU where Gerard never started MCR, Frank became a teacher, and Mikey joined The Used. Frank and Mikey were best friends in high school, but then Frank doesn't hear from Mikey for a long time, and it's even longer before he finds out why. I actually found the premise so upsetting (i.e. realistic) it was difficult to listen to, even though the podfic is well done and the story has a happy ending. (fic July 2012; podfic July 2013)
Septicemia by innocent_wolves. A little different from my usual recs, and darker, but it still has a happy ending. No Band AU. Frank is suicidal, and both Frank and Gerard have maladaptive super powers. (finished June 2013)
undeserving of your sympathy by akamine_chan, podfic by argentumlupine. Short superhero AU.  (August 2013)
The Heart You Need by flyby. How the Killjoys became the Killjoys....if the Killjoys were telepathic space pirates. Very long, and a bit slow in the beginning, but with a summary like that, obviously I had to read it. (August 2013)
and me here on the ground, podfic by Ande of the fic by ohnoktcsk. Frank/Gerard magic AU. (fic September 2013; podfic September 2016)
Two ways Pete and Gabe get married by lalejandra, podfic by reena_jenkins. notfic. (podfic October 2015)
Love Will Tear Us Apart by melusina. Pete and Patrick don't notice until FOB goes on hiatus that they're soulbonded. (September 2016)
All Shook Up by Jiksa. Pete/Patrick Las Vegas wedding chapel AU. (April 2017) Because Werewolves or Something: A Frank/Dewees Podbook Compilation by dapatty. "Fracta Modi" is my favorite, but they're all good. (October 2017) Epicuros by ??? for me for the Bandom Holidays gift exchange! Lindsey is an android artist on Mars! (December 2017) Twisting Fate anonymous Frank/Gerard soulmate podfic (December 2017)

Protection - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: Mia Makaruku meets her new neighbor, but he isn’t at all what she expected him to be.
August Walker x Mia Makaruku (ofc)
Wordcount: 3.2k
Warnings: Mentions of a car accident.
Masterlist // Previous chapter // Next chapter
My muscles scream bloody murder, as I trudge through the hallways. Did coach Riley have to be so gruesome today? Goodness me, I don’t even know if I’m gonna make it back to my car. However, when I see the coach standing further down the hall, I quickly straighten my back and ignore the slight dulling pain I feel in my ankle and the rest of my leg muscles. ‘Mia,’ coach Riley says in a stern tone as I come closer to her.
Oh no, I think to myself. I did something terribly wrong. If she uses that tone after the first training of the week, it can only mean I’m in severe trouble. ‘Yes coach?’ I hesitantly ask.
Coach Riley’s looks indicate she is strict. Her blonde hairs are pulled back in a tight knot,  a pair of glasses with a thick black frame rests on her nose and the eyeliner that hardens her eyes. While the indication is absolutely one hundred percent correct, you eventually find out she is a sweetheart deep underneath that hard exterior.
When I first arrived in Chicago five years ago, I had no idea what Thanksgiving entailed and I was ready to spend it alone in my apartment. She invited—correction: forced—me to spend time with her family, because she did not want me to sit alone in my apartment on Thanksgiving.
With my last foster family being everything but a great success, it felt good to be welcomed with open arms into a family. I’ve had my fair share of families and while they were all sweet, the last one was a total nightmare. Being slightly traumatized by the experience, it was good to be hugged by a grandma I had never seen before.
Hugs from grandma’s do wonders.
‘You did good today,’ coach says.
Great, now I know for sure I have severely fucked up. If coach Riley starts with a compliment, she is going to break some pretty bad news within a few seconds. I have trained with her for a little over five years. I know her and her odd and slightly crude way of communicating.
‘Okay?’ I say, waiting for the bomb to drop.
‘However, I want you to take it easy, so next training you’re going to train with Tristan on the side of the field.’
‘Come on, coach,’ I whine. ‘Why?’
‘Upcoming Saturday it’s the second to last game of the year. I need you top fit then.’
‘But I am top fit. Honestly!’
Coach Riley isn’t impressed, but to be honest: when is she ever? If this woman has made a decision, she’ll simply power through, no discussion possible. ‘You take it easy during tomorrows training and you listen carefully to Tristan. I noticed a limp on the field just now.’
‘There wasn’t a limp,’ I say. ‘I swear, it’s nothing to worry ab— Okay, I’ll take it easy tomorrow,’ I quickly say when I see her cocked eyebrow that does not bode well.
She finally smiles. ‘Good. Now scocch, I don’t want to look at your face any longer.’
Just when you think she is finally a little bit approachable and kind, she thankfully does this, because her smile was nearly creeping me out. I can’t stop my chuckle. ‘See you tomorrow, coach,’ I say, holding up my hand as I continue to walk through the hallways.
The closer I get to the exit, the colder it becomes. When I’m training, I somehow forget about the ice cold temperatures. However, when I’m not training, which is the majority of the day, I remember we are nearing the winterbreak and that handling these types of temperatures, is not one of my strengths.
I tense up when I step outside and if my ankle wasn’t slightly bothering me, I’d run to my car. When I reached the vehicle, I quickly step in and start to heat it up. My car, unfortunately, isn’t the most advanced and it takes quite some time before it’s even remotely warm. I shiver in the drivers seat. My phone peeps in my pocket and I pull it out, to check the notification that popped up on my screen.
Reminder to yourself: YOU NEED TO DO SOME GROCERIES. GET YOUR FAT ASS CAT SOMETHING TO EAT.
No, no, no, I forgot. I totally forgot. I curse morning-me for sleeping in today. If I had just done groceries this morning before practice, I could’ve go home now. Why was I lazy and chose an extra hour of sleep over doing something actually productive?
I drive off the parking lot, wave to some of my teammates and go to the nearest grocery store. If I have a clear idea of what I want before I go into the store, I can actually manage to do this pretty swiftly and then go home, so I can curl up on the couch to watch yet another cheesy Christmas movie. I desperately need to buy some food for my cat, some eggs and chocolate and… Do I need more?
This is why one makes shopping lists.
‘You idiot,’ I mumble to myself, as I park the car in front of the store. I get out and walk to the entrance. While I’m strolling through the aisles, to at least get the eggs, cat food and chocolate I do know I need, I hear some girls giggling behind me.
I look over my shoulder to my right and see two young girls standing at the produce section. When they look away, I see a glimpse of their red cheeks and notice they are both wearing Chicago Red Star jerseys. I can’t—and won’t—stop my smile. ‘Hi,’ I say to them, causing them to carefully wave at me.
They shyly wave back. ‘Are you Mia Makaruku?’ one girl asks when she finally found the courage to do so.
I nod. ‘The one and only.’
They look at each other and exchange some excited looks. ‘Can we get a picture?’
This has been my favorite part of the job so far. I mean, sure, I love soccer with all my life, however seeing girls this age cheering me on during the competitions and hearing about how they watch clips of me, so they can learn from my techniques, makes me realize I love that even more. They call me their role model and with the status I have, I can actually be one for them. It’s a job I should take seriously and I do.
When kids tell me they are going to try and watch the European Championship for Women’s Soccer, because I am on the Dutch National Team, I try even harder to be the best player of the competition and be a model for them to look up to. Be someone for them I wished I had when I was younger.
I nod again at the girls. ‘Of course. I love your shirts. Tell me: whose name do you have on the back?’
They start to laugh and turn around, showing the backs of their shirts. ‘Yours of course!’
◎ ◎ ◎
Life hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows for me. I just barely think about it nowadays, since it only leaves me with more questions than answers and I’d rather not wander in the dark like that. It’s weird to think about the things I do remember and don’t.
I do remember the second we skidded off the road. I don’t remember I had a mother or father or three brothers with me in the car. I do remember eventually taking the officer’s hand and despite repeating my name like mantra, kept asking him if he had heard my name correctly. I don’t remember any bodies on the scene, because there weren’t any and I also don’t know how their bodies disappeared.
It’s hard sometimes, knowing there is a memory inside my head that I simply can’t reach, but also not knowing what I’m missing in life. Did my parents love me? Did I have a good bond with my brothers? Was there a specific reason I wasn’t in the system? Why weren’t there other people with the same last name in the Netherlands who recognized me?
I moved from foster family to foster family, while trying to regain my memories by visiting multiple specialists. I went to a lot of places. To England, Ireland, France and Luxembourg, but no one could help me out. At the age of twelve, they simply stopped trying, because it was no use anyways and there was one family back in the Netherlands who insisted on me staying in one place for a change.
Thankfully they did, however I only stayed with them for four years, before I moved to my final family, that was a hell to put it mildly.
Finally, for the first time in yearsI wasn’t going from one specialist to another and there was one place where I was always—despite the family—welcome: my soccer team. In all those years of me visiting specialists, there was always one thing I looked for: a ball to kick around. Soccer was my love, my passion and the only thing I started to care about.
And now I have managed to not only make a name for myself in the USA, but also worldwide. When I was nineteen, I debuted in the Dutch National Team during the European Championship and my performance there was what caught the attention of the Chicago Red Stars. I could leave the small SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands behind and go to the USA. I had seen the American National Team. They were exceptionally good and now I got to play alongside some of them.
My first World Championship was when I was twenty one and the Dutch team was in the finals against the USA. Despite my two goals, the USA was too good and beat us with 4-2. Sure, I was disappointed, but still I was very pleased with the fact that the Netherlands became second and it was such a highlight in my seemingly short professional soccer career thus far.
I managed to overcome all these things and still be the person I am today. Since I can’t remember my past, I made it my mission in life to make the most of my future.
Don’t ask me how, but I managed to come back from the store with three full bags. Apparently, if you wander through the aisles long enough, you’ll find tons of excuses to buy crap you didn’t even need in the first place.
I’m finally back at my apartment building and the automatic doors slide open as I reach them. I walk towards the reception and I say with a smile: ‘Hello Harold, how are you today?'
Harold, the clerk behind the reception who is nearing his pension, greets me with his signature smile and I see the two familiar dimples form in his cheeks. ‘Hello, miss Mia, I’m doing splendid this Monday. How was your training today?’
I simply shrug. ‘It was okay, but I have to take it easy now.’ I can’t help but to roll my eyes. ‘According to my coach, I was “slightly limping” and she needs me top fit this Saturday.’
He scrunches up his nose. ‘But my dear, I think you are incapable of taking things easy. Isn’t your coach aware of that?’
I can’t help but laugh. I always like to talk to Harold, it’s so easy to strike up a conversation with him. ‘I think she just wants to bully me. Is there by the way any mail for me?’
‘There certainly is. Three envelopes for you. Almost makes you seem like a very important lady.’ He sends me a playful wink. ‘Oh, before I forget: I told you about the apartment next to you being sold, right?’
I nod. ‘Does this mean Mystery Person is finally moving in?’ I ask.
Harold nods. ‘He moved in today.’
‘Ah, it’s a man. Is he hot?’
He shrugs. ‘He is pretty stuffy and a bit authoritarian looking. I was hoping for someone as radiant as you. I think we need more people like you around here, not a copy of miss Thornhill.’
I throw my long brown hair over my shoulder. ‘Well, what can I say?’ I chuckle. ‘Not everyone is a ray of sunshine like yours truly. Is there mail for him as well? I can bring it to him.’
‘An envelope did arrive, indeed. I don’t think he will go down here to pick it up. We barely made eye contact today. I hardly even know if he is aware there is a reception, let alone that I’m the clerk.’ He hands me the other yellow envelope and says: ‘Are you sure you want to do this, miss?’
‘Absolutely positive. It might be nice to get to know my next door neighbor. Let’s hope he is not a gigolo. I really can’t use sleepless nights anymore. I have two important games coming up, I need my rest.’
‘Mister Toriello was quite the man,’ Harold laughs. ‘Thank you, my dear, for doing this.’
‘No problem, Harold. See you later!’ I walk to the elevator and hold my card in front of the scanner. The doors slide open and when I get in, I press button number nine. I look at the name on the envelope. It’s actually addressed with a sticker, no handwriting, which I find so impersonal.
A. Walker
A. Walker is probably the most generic name I’ve ever heard. This man could be anybody. Would he be bald, have a beer belly and burps all the time or would he be young, attractive and actually a chance for me to leave my forever alone status behind?
While that would be nice, Harold did say that the man was quite stuffy and authoritarian looking.
As someone with barely any date experience (none at all, actually), I’d say stuffy and authoritarian looking isn’t really my type, but never say never right?
The doors open and I step out on my own floor. I walk through the broad hallways and stop in front of apartment number 943. From behind the door, I can hear someone dragging furniture around the apartment and an occasional male grunt. I knock on the door and just hope that he can hear me. I don’t want to start banging on the door like an idiot.
Thankfully, he did hear me, because footsteps approach the door and when it swings open, my eyes widen.
The man standing in the doorway, does not match the generic sounding A. Walker name at all. He is tall, with broad shoulders and the shortsleeved shirt he is wearing, totally accentuates his muscled biceps. I mean, the body is a total A+ (I don’t think I have ever seen someone this buff, while still being proportionate), his face on the other hand… I mean, he does have a beautifully sculpted face and it looks rather perfect, don’t get me wrong, but he looks so angry with that deep frown between his brows and the mustache isn’t really my thing either. Kinda ruins his entire face, if I’m being honest. ‘Who are you?’ he asks, his voice monotone and already bored.
That is not a good start.
‘I’m Mia,’ I introduce myself with a smile, because smiles make people comfortable and this man does not look comfortable. ‘I live next door, in apartment 944. I brought you your mail.’ I extend my arm, so I can hand him the yellow envelope. ‘Thought it would be nice, since we’re neighbors after all.’
He rips the envelope out of my hand and is actually inspecting the seal on it. I am deeply offended. Why on earth would he think that low of me? As if I would snoop through other people’s mail.
After his thorough inspection, he looks at me again. His eyes take me in and leans against the doorframe, crossing his arms in front of his broad chest. The shirt has a slight v neck and is that a tiny bit of chest hair I detect?
I’m almost expecting something condescending leaving his lips (he seems like the type), but A. Walker doesn’t say a word. He simply stares at me and now I kinda regret bringing his mail with me.
He looks and acts like an utter asshole.
‘What’s your name?’ I carefully ask him. Despite him looking like an absolute dick, I do think this is a man you might want to have on your good side. After all, he is my neighbor, I don’t want him to hate me, especially since from the looks of it this man can break me in half with just his pinky, which is intimidating on its own.
‘August Walker,’ he says, tilting his head, as he seems to scan my entire face. ‘Aren’t you that soccer player?’
Before I can even stop it, a smile breaks out on my face. I always like it when people acknowledge the fact that I’m a soccer player. I worked really hard to get where I am now and when people recognize me as that soccer player, it makes me happy. ‘I am,’ I say with an even brighter smile.
Maybe he isn’t so bad after all…
‘I hate women’s soccer.’
I’m dumbfounded. Why on earth does he have to be so rude? What on earth did I do to him to deserve this? What a fucking dickhead. I can’t believe I was actually trying to make a good impression on him. Maybe I don’t want him to be on my good side. Maybe I sort of miss mister Toriello now, with his late night adventures with very noisy female customers. At least he was nice enough to bring me cookies every now and then, to apologize for the noise.
I highly doubt August Walker knows how to bake cookies, let alone buy some of them to apologize for the inconvenience, whatever that may be.
‘Why?’ I ask, as my expression falters.
‘It’s stupid,’ he simply states. To make it even worse, he adds a shrug, as if it’s a well known fact and not just some stupid opinion. ‘Not as advanced as male soccer.’
I frown, as I try to cover up the fact I’m deeply hurt. ‘Well, that’s okay. To each their own,’ I say to him. ‘If we are being frank here: I think your mustache is pretty stupid.’
He simply raises his eyebrows, while his eyes still look bored and annoyed. ‘You do?’ he asks me. ‘Why is that?’
‘I don’t know. It makes you look like a pedophile, really. Have a good day, mister Walker.’ I walk towards my own door and barge inside.
Who gave mister August Walker the right to be this rude to me, someone who he barely knows? What a piece of shit.
My big orange cat Bobo walks up to me and he starts to meow, pulling me out of my racing thoughts.
The hairy companion makes me instantly forget about my new neighbor. ‘Hi, Bobo,’ I say with a chuckle. ‘I missed you too, little fella.’ I place the bags on the floor, before I lift him up, to press tons of kisses on his head. He purrs in my ear. ‘I bought you some food, so that means you can finally stop putting your head in my bowl and be a decent cat from now on.’
‘Meow.’
‘That’s what I thought.’

European soccer, UEFA can use common sense to finish 2019-20 season. PLUS
We’re no closer to knowing when soccer might return to action given the global reaction to slowing the coronavirus outbreak, but there’s still a lot happening in the broader soccer world. Gab Marcotti reacts to the main talking points in the latest Monday Musings.
Jump to: Common sense must rule | Dutch league vacates title | | Harsh lesson for Kean
European leagues free to use common sense around how to end the 2019-20 season
Memo to decision-makers around Europe’s top leagues: the rules and bylaws that govern the game weren’t handed down by a higher being. They were made by people who didn’t (and couldn’t) envision anything like the current pandemic-induced shutdown. That said, because they are man-made, there’s nothing wrong in rewriting them if it suits the common good, and UEFA’s executive committee statement last Thursday took a general step in that direction.

There’s an “ideal scenario” in which the public health situation improves, every top-flight fixture gets played and they even squeeze in the remainder of the 2019-20 Europa League and Champions League seasons by August. Great. That’s the goal. Fingers crossed. Then there’s the uncomfortable reality: what to do if you can’t finish.
2 Related
UEFA says the season can only be terminated early under two circumstances. One is if governments prohibit sporting activity until a certain date and you simply run out of time to end this season and start the next one. (They don’t specify a start date for next season, but according to multiple sources, they want 2020-21 to start in September at the latest — pandemic permitting, of course.) The other is if there are “insurmountable economic problems” that make finishing the season “impossible” because it would jeopardize the long-term financial stability of clubs.
The first scenario is self-explanatory. The second is a catchall that can really be extended to everyone, if necessary, but is meant primarily for leagues without big TV contracts, where income comes primarily from gate receipts. Playing safely behind closed doors is expensive, and doing so for free or close to it, where there is no broadcast cash at stake, will hurt clubs financially.
But if seasons do end early, what to do?
Let’s be clear here: It’s not UEFA’s call, per se. If leagues want to shut up shop now and award titles based on cumulative squad numbers or alphabetical order, they’re free to do so — at least in theory. Equally, if they want to keep playing through 2021, they can do that too — in theory.

In practice, every league wants access to UEFA competitions — and the revenue they bring — and therefore will apply UEFA guidelines. Those guidelines emphasise a simple concept: sporting merit.
Some have focused on how they stop countries from declaring leagues “null and void,” which means the 2019-20 season is invalidated as if it never took place, wiping everything from the record books. That’s plain common sense. You can’t pretend things that happened never actually took place.
The real point here is that UEFA want teams to qualify for 2020-21 based on what they did in 2019-20; they’re just leaving it up to the leagues in terms of how to do it. If you don’t have enough time to complete all the fixtures, but can play some of them, you may want to opt for a playoff system to settle European places, titles or relegation. Or you can take the table as it was when play ended, or you can use average points. Or weighted points. Or whatever system your nerds come up with. The only condition is that it has to reflect what actually happened on the pitch while also being objective, transparent and nondiscriminatory. (This bit basically means you can’t send Manchester United into the Champions’ League instead of Leicester City because you think it benefits your league.)
That’s it. Everything else, from who to crown as champion to who to relegate to how to divvy up domestic prize money (which is what some people really care about), is up to the individual league.
As for those situations that are less clear-cut? Just lock decision-makers in a proverbial room and find a solution.

Julien Laurens says the Bundesliga will be the first European league to resume despite a potential delay.
Take Serie A, where Juventus have a one-point lead over Lazio. Ask the clubs to vote: Juve, Lazio or “VACANT” (in which case, you don’t award a title). Relegation and promotion? Let’s face it: There’s one club suddenly making a ton more money and another club making a lot less money. So, for example, see if Norwich (bottom of the Premier League) and Leeds United (top of the Championship) can hammer out a deal. Maybe Norwich stays up but pays a chunk of their revenue next season to Leeds, or Leeds go up and do the reverse, sharing some of the cash bonanza with Norwich.
And if you can’t work it out and 20 adults in a (virtual) room can’t reach an agreement? Suck it up, don’t relegate anybody and promote the top teams from the second-flight. This wouldn’t be my choice, but hey, it’s down to which system stinks less at this point.
Tumblr media
Read all the latest news and reaction from ESPN FC Senior Writer, Gabriele Marcotti.
The point here is that UEFA didn’t issue edicts or rules from on high. They offered guidelines — and reasonable ones — for leagues to follow if they want to play in their competitions. The rest is up the people who run the leagues and the clubs.
I hope it doesn’t come to this, though, because I hope we can continue playing and wrap things up on the pitch. But if we can’t, I hope they remember that these are exceptional times, usual rules and regulations need not apply and there is such a thing as reasonable, common-sense consensus. I hope they find it.
Dutch Eredivisie decides to end season
play
0:58
Jan-Joost van Gangelen thinks Dutch football may reverse the decision to effectively void the season.
The Dutch government’s decision to put ban all public gatherings until Sept. 1 means the Eredivisie won’t return and finish their 2019-20 season. There’s not much to argue about when decisions are made on a political level and not declaring the 2019-20 title vacant makes sense given that AZ Alkmaar and Ajax were level on points.
More complicated is what to do in terms of promotion and relegation, and here the Eredivisie becomes a test case for what we discussed above. The Dutch FA opted to have a consultative vote among the 34 clubs in the top two divisions (there are 38 teams, but four are the B-teams of top-flight clubs). Sixteen voted to enable promotion and relegation, nine voted against and nine abstained. Because there was no outright majority in favour of enabling promotion/relegation, the Dutch FA opted to freeze the situation.
Predictably this has sparked outrage and lawsuits from clubs like de Graafschap and Cambuur, who looked as if they had promotion all locked up. There’s a distinct possibility the courts might step in, and we may see a 20-team Eredivisie next season, but that would be far from ideal. Like I said earlier, though, there’s no good way to do this. Just “least bad” options. And you’re still holding out hope that some deal can be reached.
Don’t hate Ozil for turning down Arsenal pay cut
play
1:17
Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens discuss Mesut Ozil’s decision to refuse a pay cut in the coronavirus crisis.
Mesut Ozil was turned into ubervillain No. 1 last week by some observers when reports emerged that he was one of two Arsenal players to turn down the club’s proposed 12.5% pay cut, which could reduce down to 7.5% or even zero if they hit certain targets.
– Laurens: Inside Arsenal’s pay cut controversy
Ozil already has two strikes against him in that he’s the club’s highest-paid player and his performances haven’t been much to write home about over the past two years. But depicting him as the epitome of greed is way off the mark. According to multiple sources, he was ready to accept an immediate wage deferral that would help with whatever cash flow issues the club might have had. And he was open to cutting his salary as well, once the club’s financial situation became clear and we understood just how hard the pandemic was affecting the books.
It’s an entirely reasonable stance, frankly. If his teammates, out of love for the club, agreed to rush into pay cuts without having an idea what Arsenal’s losses from the pandemic were going to be, that’s wonderful. But it’s unfair to slam Ozil for not going along with it.
A learning experience for Kean
Roughly this time last year, Moise Kean was coming off a run of scoring in six straight games (two of them for Italy, four of them for Juventus). He was one of Roberto Mancini’s bright young things at international level and some thought he could break into Juventus’ starting lineup alongside Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fast-forward 12 months. He hasn’t been seen in an Italy shirt since, and in those 12 months, he has scored just one goal in 26 club appearances. And now he thinks it’s a good idea to violate social distancing laws by hosting a party at his house. Dumb as it was, it becomes exponentially dumber by allowing one of the attendees to take videos and send them out on Snapchat.
It’s straight out of the Kyle Walker Manual of Numbskullery. Everton say they are “appalled,” and rightly so. Kean is 20 years old and, evidently, not as mature as some would like him to be, in the same way many of us made stupid choices at that age. Let this serve as a lesson.

Facts You Didn't Know about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Tumblr media
He is known as one of the best players in the Premier League and has kicked the ball for different clubs such as Southampton, Arsenal, and Liverpool during his professional career.
The 26-year-old made his debut for the senior England team on 26 May 2012 and later he received a surprise call-up to the England squad for UEFA Euro 2012, becoming the second youngest player ever to represent England in the European Championships behind Wayne Rooney. He was also called up for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
A few days ago we saw Perrie Edwards, his girlfriend, talking about him, live on Good Morning Britain as she made a joke that isolating with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is like dealing 'with a child who has been given Coca-Cola and sweets'. It has to be mentioned that like many others, the pair are self-isolated due to the breakdown of Coronavirus COVID-19.
Facts you should know about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Are you ready? Let’s keep on.
Early life
Born in Portsmouth, Alex was born in a small family. His mother is named Wendy Oxlade while his father is Mark Chamberlain and he also has a brother named Christian Oxlade Chamberlain. Mark Chamberlain was the former Stoke City, Portsmouth and England international player, while Alex’s uncle, Neville Chamberlain, was also a professional footballer, as is his younger brother, Christian, who plays for Notts County.
He was young when he attended the independent St John's College in Southsea. He grew up as an Arsenal supporter while he also played rugby union as a scrum half or full back and nearly chose that sport over football when he was offered a trial at London Irish. However, that was not all for the boy as he also played cricket as a wicketkeeper, bowler and opening batsman with south east Hampshire. He was offered trials as a wicketkeeper batsman with Hampshire, but declined because it conflicted with his youth footballing duties.
It also has to be mentioned that Alex has Afro-Jamaican ancestry on his father’s side while he is of English descent on his mother’s side.
Body Statistics
Oxlade-Chamberlain is 5 ft 8½ inch or 174 cm tall while he weighs 71 kg or 156.5 lbs. He has got black hair and dark brown eyes.
Girlfriend and relationships
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is neither married nor engaged. In February 2017, Oxlade-Chamberlain was confirmed to be dating singer Perrie Edwards of the girl group “Little Mix” since December 2016.
There is no leaked news about Chamberlain’s previous relationships while Perrie was formerly engaged to Zayn Malik until their 2015 split.
Alex was first linked with singer Perrie Edwards in November 2016 after she was spotted supporting her new boyfriend at the Emirates Stadium in London during Arsenal’s English Premier League fixture. Subsequently, Alex was spotted in the crowd during Little Mix’s performance at The X Factor final. The public confirmation came in the form of a picture of the new couple kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Alex Chamberlain Favorite Things
It would be interesting to know that Alex’s Soccer Icons areThierry Henry, Gianfranco Zola, while his non soccer favorite athlete is Usain Bolt. The 26-year-old player is a fan of Drake’s concerts and he likes Las Vegas as his travel destination. His favorite TV show is Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014), while he likes  Shawshank Redemption as his favorite film.
Surprisingly Chamberlain’s dream Job is to be a singer or rapper. Did you have any idea on that?
Strengths and Weaknesses
He is well known for his talent at passing, dribbling, speed, acceleration, surging runs through the middle, stamina, mobility and physical presence, while his weaknesses are in tackling, defensive contribution, tactical discipline, and focus.
Club career
First of all it has to be said that he is best known for playing as a winger and midfielder for Arsenal and England national teams, while he was referred as Arsenal joker during his time at the club.
Southampton
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the Southampton Academy at the age of seven and on 2 March 2010, he made his first-team debut for Southampton, at 16 years 199 days, coming off the bench in a 5–0 victory over Huddersfield Town. Starring in the game, he became the club's second youngest ever appearance maker behind Theo Walcott. He continued playing for the team and at the beginning of the 2010–11 season, made his first competitive start on 10 August against AFC Bournemouth in the first round of the League Cup. During the match, he scored the second goal of Southampton's 2–0 victory, which was his first senior goal.
On 20 August 2010, shortly after his 17th birthday, Oxlade-Chamberlain signed his first professional contract lasting for three years. His first league start came in a 2–0 loss at home to Rochdale on 4 September 2010 and his first league goal came in a 2–1 victory over Oldham Athletic on 23 October 2010, which proved to be the match winner. He scored two more goals and also got an assist in a 4–0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on 2 November 2010, when he was voted Man of the Match in a league match for the first time.
Chamberlain finished the season with nine goals as Southampton were promoted to the Championship; he was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year for the 2010–11 season.
That was the end for the young player in Southampton as he was subsequently the subject of transfer speculation and in June his father, Mark Chamberlain, stated he was eager for his son to join Arsenal "as soon as possible" to "continue his development".
Arsenal
Finally on 8 August 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain signed his contract with Arsenal and joined the Gunners. It also has to be mentioned that though neither club involved revealed details of the contractual arrangements, press sources indicated that the fee was a £12 million initial payment which could rise to £15 million with "add-ons".
Later, on 28 August 2011, Alex made his debut for Arsenal in the 8–2 defeat away to Manchester United, as a 62nd-minute substitute for Francis Coquelin, thus becoming the 150th player to represent Arsenal in the Premier League. One month later and on 20 September 2011, he scored his first goal for Arsenal in the 58th minute of a League Cup match against Shrewsbury Town, with a drive from 25 yards. Arsenal won that match with a 3-1 result.
Just 8 days later and on 28 September 2011, the brilliant midfielder, scored the opening goal in the eighth minute of his UEFA Champions League debut against Greek team Olympiacos, running diagonally onto an Alex Song long pass and past several defenders before finishing into the corner of the goal. In so doing, he became the youngest Englishman to score in the Champions League, surpassing teammate Theo Walcott's record. What an honor! Huh?!
Oxlade-Chamberlain started his first Premier League match for Arsenal in a 2–1 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on 22 January 2012, contributing an assist to a Robin van Persie goal. Arsène Wenger replaced him with Andrey Arshavin in the 78th minute, with the score at 1–1. After that decision, not only did Arsenal fans boo Wenger to take Oxlade-Chamberlain off, Van Persie also remonstrated with the manager. On 4 February 2012, Oxlade-Chamberlain celebrated his first two Premier League goals in a home match against Blackburn Rovers which finished in a 7–1 victory to Arsenal. Following this match, Wenger praised Oxlade-Chamberlain for his fast development.

Finally on 26 April 2019, Oxlade-Chamberlain made his return as a substitute in Liverpool's 5–0 league win over Huddersfield.

Sean Sancho's acquaintance was alive as a communication amid the affiliation and the club. Adolescent Jadon showed up and afflicted everyone. "They accomplished he was good," Sean says, "and they beatific that up the line."The first-generation son of a Guyanese ancestor and a Jamaican mother, Sean, 45, grew up in Kennington. He never affiliated Jadon's mother, so he acclimated football to breach affiliated with his son. They'd occasionally go to see Chelsea or Arsenal, but mostly Jadon admired to play. "You appear home from academy and you maybe don't alike change your shoes," recalls Nelson, who lived a abbreviate airing from Sancho in Aylesbury. "You've got the brawl at your feet, and you apprentice what you can do with it. Activity into the academy, you accompany that asperous ability from the streets with you."One of the playgrounds is amid over a alpine fence that borders the development area Sancho lived. What passes for a angle there is tiny, no bigger than a basketball court. Alike 5-on-5, there's little allowance to maneuver. Dribbling makes far added faculty than aggravating to cilia a canyon through the drove of defenders. Sancho is acclaimed for his speed, but in the cages, dispatch becomes irrelevant. It's all quickness, a agitate of the arch in one direction, again dispatch in another. "You accept to drag your body," Sean Sancho says. "It's about the feint, like boxing. You get the apostle to second-guess."Because he didn't go to Watford every day, Sancho was able to get the best from anniversary of his disparate worlds. The abilities he acid on asperous blacktop were alike added able on a able field. "I was aloof freestyling, award means to absurd people," Sancho says. "You'd accompany aback tricks to the training ground. And not abounding bodies accept them affectionate of tricks at a adolescent age, so I would angle out." At the aforementioned time, the apprenticeship he accustomed at Watford fabricated him flash alike brighter in adjacency games. He abstruse how to accomplish a pass, and how to finer accept one. "You add that to the cage," he says, "and become a complete player."Sancho commuted to Watford for four years. Aback he angry 12, the club proposed to pay his charge at an aristocratic boarding academy abreast its facility. Abounding of the acceptance there were sons of adopted millionaires. "It was a actual altered culture," Sancho says. That, too, was allotment of Watford's plan. Sancho had brought his artery football commonsense with him from Kennington, but he'd additionally brought some of the street's below adorable characteristics. "My attitude wasn't the best," he admits. "That allotment of the 'hood was still in me. I was accepting into trouble, accepting detention. And not in a cup adventurous adjoin a second-division team, but important amateur adjoin Schalke, Moenchengladbach, Bayern. In the Champions League."By 17, Pulisic was on Dortmund's chief team. Aback Mario Gotze was 17, he was arena every week. Ousmane Dembele, now with Barcelona, had angry 19 aback he came to Dortmund in 2016. Jurgen Klopp's abrupt Dortmund aggregation that agitated Bayern Munich in 2011 had an boilerplate age of 22. "On 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon," Zorc says, referencing the accepted Bundesliga alpha time, "we about accept three, four, bristles players below 20." Zorc capital Sancho to be the next. One of football's best accomplished executives, Zorc has fabricated a advantage out of necessity. Dortmund won the Champions Alliance in 1997, a beauteous advance for a working-man's club. By 2004, though, it had spent itself into bankruptcy. If not for a arch accommodation of €2 actor from Bayern Munich, and again a acute vote by investors in March 2005, that ratified a restructuring plan, it would accept been alone into the nether alcove of German football, and afterwards the banking accommodation to return.Frightened into frugality, Dortmund has aback operated far added prudently. The home bathrobe allowance lacks the luxuries that alike abate clubs commonly offer. Players don't alike get a cubicle, aloof four metal hooks for their artery clothes and accessories. A board bank runs the breadth of allowance like in a sauna, with a rubber-covered attic beneath. If the beard dryers, which are assuredly installed below the baby mirror at one end, attending like debris from the 1970s, it's because they are.Even with one of the better stadiums in Europe, Dortmund's earning accommodation doesn't appear abutting to analogous that of the world's better clubs. Its admirers can't allow the admission prices that best of its Champions Alliance competitors get. About 30,000 standing-room places in Signal Iduna Park amount below €20. Alike the priciest seats top out at 60.Like abounding baby clubs, Dortmund generates acquirement by affairs players to the giants. The aberration is, it additionally wants to auspiciously attempt adjoin them. So Zorc combs the apple for adolescent talent. He hopes his discoveries will accomplish their best affecting advance at the end of their adolescence and the alpha of their twenties, while they're cutting atramentous and yellow. Again he'll advertise them to a bigger club at a abundant profit. These days, Dortmund's alumni affiliation would acreage a aggressive aggregation in about any alliance in Europe: Bayern's Robert Lewandowski, Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Man City's Ilkay Gundogan, Barcelona's Dembele, Chelsea's Pulisic, Japan and Absolute Zaragoza's Shinji Kagawa. Klopp took abounding of those players to the Champions Alliance final in 2013. And Sancho was watching.Sancho had annoyed off homesickness and raced through the Manchester Burghal adolescence affairs afterwards accession there in 2015. In summer 2017, administrator of football Txiki Begiristain offered a able contract. Begiristain affected it was pro forma, a done deal. Who turns bottomward Man City? But Sancho wasn't convinced. The world's greatest accumulating of assiduously was already angry for arena time below Guardiola: Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. "The opportunity, I didn't see it," Sancho says. And while Dortmund was acquainted Sancho, Sancho had been acquainted Dortmund. He saw that Pulisic was arena regularly. He knew that Dortmund competed in Europe about every season. He hadn't been there, but aback he Googled the city, Borussia Dortmund came up as the top attraction. "I anticipation of it as an befalling to appearance the apple who I am and what I can do," he said. "I anticipation of it like aloof addition abroad trip. 'I aloof charge to go abroad and comedy football.'"

Dortmund gave him the aforementioned No. 7 shirt that Dembele had worn. "That afraid me," Sancho said, but it additionally gave him confidence. As a 17-year-old in 2017-18, he started seven amateur and came on as a acting in bristles more. His aboriginal ambition in any chief antagonism came adjoin Bayer Leverkusen on April 21, 2018.Sancho's progression has been so rapid, it's adamantine to accept that ambition happened alone 18 months ago. He added 12 added goals and 14 assists aftermost year, allowance Dortmund accomplishment additional in the Bundesliga, a point abaft Bayern Munich. Below Favre, whose abstraction of absolute football is Brazil's 1970 Apple Cup team, Dortmund plays a free-flowing appearance that enables Sancho to appearance far added adroitness than he would for addition German side. "We can comedy actual alive football because we accept players like Jadon," Favre says. "He can comedy short, he can comedy long. He can comedy with one touch. He can distill in advanced of the goal, he can use his head. He destabilizes the added team."Sancho is still learning, like any teenager. He makes mistakes. Accustomed to watching adolescent players develop, Dortmund's supporters absolve them off. That's not the acknowledgment he'd be accepting if he'd backward in Manchester. "There's aloof a lot of burden in England," he says. "The media is so adamantine on adolescent players. If you accept not a acceptable game, it's like you're not ready, you're not acceptable enough. Germany is relaxed. I anticipate a adolescent amateur needs that."Sancho played for England in the UEFA Nations Alliance in June. By the time he appear aback to Dortmund, he was a full-fledged star. "It isn't aloof that he fabricated the team, but that he continues to body on it," said assistant Thomas Delaney. "I would about alarm it a advantage to watch Jadon every day in training. It's spectacular. He does things with the brawl I've never apparent before. If I approved to do what he does, I'd aching myself."It's a quiet night in Dortmund. But then, what added affectionate is there?Zorc grew up there. He spent his absolute 17-year chief career arena for Dortmund as a axial midfielder. Now he has placed the success of the club in the easily of players who can't accurately alcohol a beer in the United States. In that situation, he understands, addled is desirable. "There's no nightlife," he confirms. "No distractions. It's not Las Vegas, not Berlin, not London. You accept to go 100 kilometers for anything." That allows adolescent players to focus on their football. If Sancho fritters abroad his evenings arena Fortnite afterwards the casual ice cream, well, Zorc knows he could be accomplishing far worse about else.Eventually, Sancho will appetite more, on and off the field. Lewandowski ultimately larboard for Munich. So did Gotze, admitting he returned. Aubameyang and Gundogan confused on to the Premier League, and Dembele for Barcelona. They were replaced by the abutting bearing of hot prospects, the brand of Pulisic and Sancho. Pulisic now plays for Chelsea, a accord that added Zorc's account by $73 million. As he was leaving, conceivably the abutting abundant American anticipation -- Gio Reyna, Claudio's son, who turns 17 abutting ages -- arrived. And hidden abroad in Dortmund's adolescence program, a 14-year-old called Youssoufa Moukoko is scoring goals by the dozen.Soon enough, too, Sancho will be gone. It about happened aftermost summer, afterwards Manchester United fabricated its intentions known. But Zorc brash Sancho that the time wasn't yet right, and Sancho agreed. In August, Sancho active an addendum through 2022 that pays him added than €200,000 a week, but cipher is below the apparition that he will accomplishment the contract. This division in the Bundesliga is about assertive to be his last.On this accurate quiet night in Dortmund, Sancho has aloof been called to represent England for Euro 2020 condoning matches adjoin Bulgaria and Kosovo. Unlike his aboriginal chief selection, aback he was assured to be called for the U21s, this one was a foregone conclusion. Actual quickly, Sancho has become the best array of botheration for England administrator Gareth Southgate, whose advanced band of Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane will charge to accomplish room.Sancho is the alone England amateur who hasn't played in the Premier League. Until Kieran Trippier larboard Spurs for Atletico Madrid afore this season, he was the alone one not arena in England. But that hasn't bedfast his all-embracing advancement. "I don't see a abrogating at all," Southgate said recently. "Jadon's arena afore 80,000 admirers at Dortmund every week. That brings huge pressure. We appetite our players to be activity that intensity."Sancho concluded up scoring alert in England's 5-3 achievement over Kosovo. That set the English media on its latest aberration about which Premier Alliance aggregation he will be headed to abutting summer. In contempo months, he has been affiliated not alone with Man United but additionally Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool. He'd be accessible to the abstraction of arena in England but insists it isn't article he needs to do, not now. That's a point that Frederik Obasi, one of two South London brothers who represent Sancho, fabricated afore the summer. "Everyone is talking 'England, England, England,'" he said. "But why do they accept he has to go there?
