A Walk By The Lake

Severus sat under a tree, engrossed in a book. Or so it seemed he was engrossed when in reality every few paragraphs he would give a quick look at the lake. He had been debating going skating with a pair of transfigured shoes, but it would be quite boring going by himself or so he figured. He had thought about asking Lily, but their meeting in Diagon Alley... well... hadn't ended well, and he didn't even think she'd accept his Christmas gift he got for her let alone agree to spend time with him. He found himself placing the opened book in his lap as he became lost in his thoughts, his right hand moving to graze his fingertips over his forearm. His brows knitted together in an anger manner. How dare she just assume he'd do such a stupid thing as follow someone like that. Why would he ever do that? Voldemort offered him nothing. 

... Then again neither did the Ministry.

He shook his head quickly and stood from his spot, dropping his book on the spell-cleared ground. He raised his hands and rubbed his eyes irritably before deciding he couldn't just sit here and read like he had been doing the entire break, he needed to do something, even if it was alone. He removed his cloak to reveal he was out of uniform (which was allowed during hols), though he probably should've bought a new sweater as the current one was a black one which was faded with a small hole at the bottom and had obviously seen better days. He made a note in the back of his mind to actually buy himself something next Hogsmeade trip as he crossed the grounds to the edge of the frozen lake.

He pulled his wand out and tapped both his shoes, conjuring long blades at the bottom. He stepped out onto the ice, slowly moving out deeper into the lake. He made it a good few minutes before yelping as he fell, landing on the ice. He winced but laughed it off, pushing himself up a bit unsteadily and brushing the ice off.
