Oh, the role-plays are an absolute TREAT.

I won't say toooooo much here, just out of respect for my rp partners in crime.

But both are very NSFW which is a ton of fun right from the start, and they both explore some less common tropes in the Carry On Fandom. I'm writing as Simon in both too.

The first one is an adorable mpreg plot that we have running with the CO story line. Slight canon divergence (obviously, haha), with Simon’s magic doin' it's thing one drunken night at the end of 7th year.

The second one is an omegaverse approach to the entire series. We've got an alpha!Simon and omega!Baz - fully planning to go through WS and AWTWB with this one.

I always end up doing this like halfway through january but this time I got covid so I have an excuse lol. anyway reflections on 2021!

I recognize that 2021 was shitty for a lot of people but I was riding the high of how much better it was for me personally than 2020 so I actually had a decent year. for one thing ingrid was back (our first full year in the same country!), I got new plants to replace the ones that died while they were doing construction on my apt in 2020, I wasn’t alone in the house anymore, etc.

some stuff that happened in 2021:

-read a bunch of books at the beginning of the year bc I hadn’t been reading for a while and then kind of continuously read on and off throughout the year (special mention to one last stop!! and awtwb which I didn’t actually like as much as the first two but the end of the series was a significant thing)

-I did a few more months of yoga with adriene throughout the year, it wasn’t as much as I necessarily wanted to but I’m glad it’s something I keep periodically going back to

-played a lot of animal crossing cause we were late to that party

-baby’s first covid test (jan) and 2nd covid test (dec)

-spent the first few months of the year on a roommate hunt and then finally found our current roommate who is lovely

-s&s lived in *gasp* different apartments! 

-made a weird little experimental short film for orlando fringe which was mostly just me reading books on the roof of my parking garage while waiting for time lapse footage

-watched a whole bunch of tv shows (finished steven universe, owl house s2, gravity falls, hsmtmts, we are lady parts, rutherford falls, wwdits, ted lasso, only murders in the building, kevin can fuck himself, girls5eva, infinity train)

-VACCINES! got 1st & 2nd shots in the spring then booster in the fall which was such a peace of mind thing despite everything and made it so I could actually feel ok seeing people again

-ingrid & I got engaged in may & started wedding planning ahhhh

-wrote a TON of this story that I had been kinda working on for ages (yeah it’s the one I just mentioned having finished)

-fully into aly & aj, if you haven’t listened to their recent stuff you should

-taylor and her rerecordings can be on here I guess lol (so can new bleachers album I guess. tried to see them in concert but it got cancelled for- shocker- covid reasons)

-since I mentioned tv & books, my favorite movies this year were prob raya, luca, encanto, and mitchells vs the machines lol I’m still a sucker for animation

-prob shouldn’t say this bc uh they follow me but I doubt they’ll see this so: my parasocial relationship w a certain person is always probably teetering on the edge of delusion that someday we’re gonna be friends (anyway read reputation lol) (if they do see this I’m sorry)

-speaking of parasocial relationships there are several babies and small children of people either I/ingrid/sarah know who I’m obsessed with and watched grow over the course of the year on social media

-related, there is a baby who lives close enough to me that I should’ve been able to see him a lot and have a relationship with him but covid/work/poor communication made everything complicated and it was a rough time for me about it for a minute there

-ingrid and I went to new orleans and stayed in a very cute airbnb and ate beignets and looked at art and went to parks

-my mom threw a MASSIVE party in july for my grandma’s 80th bday which was probably irresponsible but at the time the numbers were low and we were all vaxxed, anyway I got to see a ton of people I hadn’t in a while 

-my dad had open heart surgery (he’s ok but it was a time)

-one of my sisters was our neighbor for the summer and now my other sister is our neighbor (also ingrid and sarah are finally friends which makes me happyyy)

-speaking of ingrid and sarah the three of us briefly revived my silly rp forum site from when I was like 14-15 lmao

-spent a long miserable time at my shitty horrible job and then FINALLY quit at the end of the summer

-got to be unemployed & just chill for the month of september, took a lot of walks downtown

-my high school 10 year reunion happened lol but I didn’t go because it looked like a hot mess

-tried in vain to get hired as an advisor at several universities/colleges near me… which was frustrating bc especially for international stuff I’m very qualified… stay tuned if that ever happens

-started working at a plant store in october! it’s been a fun time so far, my coworkers are mostly chill and my boss is a little annoying but not actively evil like my previous boss so I count it as a win. also I’m learning so much about plants & fueling my plant addiction

-related, I started a garden on our balcony in december and so far it’s doing ok!

-I mentioned getting engaged but oh my god so many of my friends got engaged

-so much of this year was just wedding planning lol

-I got ingrid to play age of mythology aka the game I was obsessed with in middle school and haven’t shut up about since muahaha

-played dnd with my sisters a couple times which was a fun and crazy time

-my mom finally got the christmas she’s been trying to have since my parents moved onto a boat, aka my parents got an airbnb and my mom got to have family around throughout the holidays

that’s pretty much it, I think! the covid depression is still real and hits from time to time, I don’t make enough money and I’m very uncertain about my ~career future~, but overall I can’t complain too much. I’m looking forward to ‘22 if for no other reason than I’m getting married this year! Also I have made the executive decision that we’re calling it 22 bc 2022 is too much of a mouthful when you say it out loud!

Just having fun... Paradiso style

So around a week ago I made this gushy post about my Simon and Baz in Paradiso and now I’ve grown immensely fond of them. And since my mind wanders, I immediately started creating an AU where Simon and Baz from canon get transported into Paradiso. I blame the fact that I’m really into crossovers, but is this a crossover or just an AU of an AU? 

Now, I won’t write this. I know I said that before about Paradiso 2 and 3, but no I really won’t, since this is just me playing with scenario’s and they’re definitely not part of the Paradiso canon. That, and I’ve never been so satisfied with an ending since All the pretty things that we could be ended, so I simply put don’t want to create another installment with Paradiso stuff. It’s the main reason why I haven’t written any “missing scenes” stuff (yet?).

Under cut because a) it became longer than anticipated, which is the story of my creative life, and b) I kept adding things.

But uhm, yeah, here’s some ideas. Is this a bullet point fic?

Paradiso!Snowbaz is the Snowbaz around maybe a year after the events of che col tuo lume mi levasti (rip to Rosemary) and canon!Snowbaz is maybe also a year or so after AWTWB. I’m bad with math. I don’t know how shit lines up. But uhm they’re the same age, that’s for sure.

P!Baz is home alone in Salò when c!Simon just appears, which is a shock cause a) his Simon is at work and b) this Simon has wings and a tail and c) this Simon sounds different. Basically, in canon, Penny is trying hard to find a way to make magic work on Simon again and she thinks she might’ve found something, and it works, but it sends Simon straight to the Paradiso dimension. Why and how? Idk man, plot hole. This is the other reason why I won’t ever write this, because the plot is very underdeveloped since it’s all about the interaction.

c!Baz follows suit because you bet your sweet ass that he demanded that c!Penny sent him after the love of his life. 

P!Baz obviously calls his Simon and you know the usual “oh shit whaddup different dimensions are real” crap happens with all four of them freaking out.

c!Baz is overwhelmed by the feeling of magic. I explained a little bit in a che col tuo lume chapter why mages feel magic in this universe. That doesn’t happen in canon. It’s different dimensions, y’all. Because of this, both Bazzes immediately clock that both Simons don’t have magic, but they do feel P!Simon’s bracelet, so the plaque gets explained. 

Also, I know it’s still jarring, but the Simons sound different. c!Simon has a northern accent, since he grew up north in care and P!Simon has an RP accent, since he grew up with Lucy. That and the wings really set them apart. The Bazzes are basically the same, but you know, soulmate shit, P!Snowbaz and c!Snowbaz know which one of their significant others is which.

Both Snowbazzes cannot go outside with the four of them, because all the locals will be very confused. They find out the hard way. c!Simon immediately goes out to explore in order to look for clues, since that’s what he’s like, and P!Simon follows suit, since he cannot pass up an opportunity to be a tour guide. It confuses a lot of locals and c!Simon is impressed by the fact that P!Simon is fluent in Italian. Norberto sees them too and since he’s a mago, P!Simon explains what is going on, but Norberto can’t help them. Afterwards, P!Baz decides to spell the local Normals stupid.

Also the Simons bond over the Excalibury, although they have very different uses for them. P!Simon never learnt to fight with a sword. c!Simon cannot believe that and he insists on teaching him some basics at least.

In the beginning, it’s basically calm before the storm, where everyone is just vibing and getting to know each other. The Simons are playing around and the Bazzes probably discuss what books they’re reading etc.

It changes when they actually start talking about their lives. Yeah P!Snowbaz has had to endure some shit, but c!Snowbaz really went through it. P!Simon wonders why the other version of him has wings, which leads to c!Simon starting to talk about Watford and P!Simon is kind of jealous that c!Simon ‘got to be with Baz early on’, until c!Snowbaz explains the rivalry and c!Baz admits that he always believed that c!Simon would kill him one day. That’s messed up, my dudes.

P!Simon is very shocked to hear that he grew up in the World of Mages with The Mage as a mentor, but not as a dad, since ya know the whole orphan thing. c!Simon has a breakdown when he hears that Lucy is alive, because he’s still keeping the Salisburys at arm’s length.

c!Simon also quickly finds out that even though P!Simon hasn’t known his grandma and uncle for much longer than him, P!Simon is so much more at ease (P!Simon says grandma and uncle. c!Simon says Lady Ruth and Jamie.) This leads to c!Simon thinking a lot about the Salisburys.

When c!Simon finds out that there’s a version of him that had a happy childhood with a loving parent, it just hits him and he grabs a coat (rip c!Simon in the Italian heat) and walks out. c!Baz cannot follow him, since he doesn’t know Salò, so P!Baz goes after him.

c!Simon gets stopped a lot by the locals. It’s awkward. He sits on a bench at the Lago di Garda and P!Baz has a weird moment, because his Simon also always goes there. 

But before P!Baz gets there, Norberto gets there. Norberto doesn’t speak a word English and c!Simon doesn’t speak a lick of Italian, but they make it work through Google text-to-speech translation (thank you Ciara for giving him a phone!) until P!Baz steps in. I just like the idea of Norberto helping both Simons in their lives. Norberto as a mago who’s also not part of the big story is free therapy.

I also really like the idea of c!Simon and P!Baz talking about the World of Mages, since c!Simon goes on and on about how he’s a fluke and how the WoM was never his, or at least that’s what it feels, even though he now knows he was born a mage, but that actually complicates it more cause is or isn’t he part of the WoM? Meanwhile P!Baz is basically like “you can... decide that yourself, you know?” and I think he’d use the Welsh roots to illustrate how complex identity and beloning can be, because both Simons have complex feelings about being Welsh. But in the end, it’s stll their choices. After all, P!Baz left his WoM willingly.

Basically, the different combinations of Snowbaz gets to bond. c!Simon finds it easy to talk to P!Baz and tells him what’s happened in his life. At the flat, c!Baz explains to P!Simon what happened as well. In turn, P!Baz and P!Simon tell their life stories. All four of them realise how different their lives are and how it all boils down to one thing: Lucy being alive.

P!Simon also gives c!Baz a rundown of the CoMa and CoMi.

c!Simon and P!Baz walk back hand-in-hand and when they get back there is a weird moment, but P!Simon says “damn, I told you we’re a handsome couple” and all is fine.

During their talks, P!Baz and c!Simon bond and so do c!Baz and P!Simon. Is it cheating? All four of them can tell each other apart, but on the same vein they’re still them. Baz is Baz. Simon is Simon. No matter which one’s which. Basically, they don’t mind when the other hold hands or leans against them or use pet names with the other, but kisses etc. are still a step too far. It’s weird. They’re the same, but they’re also not. 

There’s also some... difference in affection. P!Simon has always been a cuddly monster and very affectionate. He’s open and he lets P!Baz in easily. To c!Simon, it’s still new. He’s trying, but it’s hard and it’s sometimes also difficult for him to accept Baz’s, any Baz, affection because he feels like he doesn’t deserve it. c!Snowbaz is a bit jealous. c!Simon is jealous of P!Simon for how effortless it is for him to be like that. c!Baz hates that he’s jealous of P!Snowbaz and their affection. 

Basically, since it’s after AWTWB, c!Simon is doing better. He’s healing. Maybe he’s back in therapy. But there are always bad days where he retreats back to this distant shell version of himself and I think all of this is a trigger for that. c!Baz knows this, so he also knows to be patient.

The Bazzes have the same amount of knowledge and they try to find a way for c!Snowbaz to get home. It’s clear they need more help, but P!Penny and P!Shepard are busy in England and no one wants to ask Lucy if it’s avoidable.

Obviously, c!Baz is not okay with being a vampire, so when P!Baz asks if he needs to drink, c!Baz is preparing himself for a rat buffet, but no, P!Baz hands him a bag of blood and P!Simon makes tea for him and c!Simon, while carelessly talking about how great it is that Emma just sent some new blood. c!Baz is very confused at this and he’s horrified. P!Baz understands and takes pity on him cause he knows. P!Baz basically becomes c!Baz’s Emma.

I mean, P!Baz walks around with his fangs out. c!Baz cannot believe what he’s seeing! But P!Baz sees no reason to not be his authentic self in his own home and c!Simon agrees, since he also lets his wings and tail out when he’s in his flat. Honestly, c!Simon is happy to have a buddy in his “let Baz be a sexy vampire” agenda.

Anyway, I think this is the main difference between the Bazzes. I think that even if c!Baz gets more comfortable with being a vampire, he’d never bite anyone. It is a line he isn’t willing to cross. P!Baz is open for it, he just can’t bite either Simon a lot because, ya know, they’re Normals. Both Bazzes accept each others’ view.

c!Snowbaz stays the night. P!Snowbaz obviously take the bedroom, but the Bazzes spell the floor in the living room squishy. In the privacy of their own places, both Snowbaz pairings discuss what they’ve learnt. P!Snowbaz realises that c!Snowbaz had a tough life with a lot of hatred and trauma and death. c!Snowbaz realises that P!Snowbaz had a more carefree life, but it leads to some naivety. I think that despite all they all know that there’s no sort of opression olympics or whatever. Objectively, c!Snowbaz went through so much more tragedy, but that doesn’t mean that P!Snowbaz should just get over their stuff.

The next day, they talk about their options and P!Simon casually mentions Fiona, Nico and Ebb when talking about possible allies, which leads to another mental breakdown for c!Simon cause Ebb is alive???? In a way, that feels like a whole different level from Lucy, because c!Simon actually got to know his Ebb.

In the end, they feel like they have no other choice than to talk to Lucy. They can go to the CoMa straight away, but then Lucy will know and they’d rather tell her up front. (Yes, the four of them have discussed the differences in their respective World of Mages extensively, which is why c!Baz understands why P!Baz left.) (I mean, Fuck The Mage in both worlds, but in canon, he was less of a totalitarian dictator. He was terrible in another way.) (Also, P!Baz was more removed from the whole politics stuff. He’s still a Pitch yada yada, but without Simon right in front of him to hate him, and without being raised with a nemesis, he’s more chill.)

P!Simon calls his mum up-front to explain what is happening, since everyone agrees that it’d be unfair to Lucy and c!Simon to just drive up.

c!Simon is a bundle of nerves and if he still had magic, he’d explode multiple times in a row. When they arrive and Lucy opens the door, he closes his eyes and hides his face in c!Baz’s arms. He thought he could do it, but nope.

Of course, P!Simon is a mommy’s boy so he is already out of the car, hugging and kissing his mum, not noticing that the other Simon is breaking down till they see that he hasn’t left the car.

Lucy decides to take matters into her own hands and she opens the car and soothes c!Simon. It’s weird, but to c!Simon it’s also comforting and that leads to more complex feelings, but Lucy treats this Simon like her Simon, since he’s still Simon and in the end she gets to comfort him and what not.

Meanwhile, P!Snowbaz is watching it all unfold and P!Simon is just overcome with emotions, because he realises that this could’ve been his life. In l’amor che move he’s constatly thinking about how much more terrible another lifetime could be, and now he’s watching the consequences of a timeline like that unfold in front of him. P!Simon can’t even fanthom not being able to face his mum.

c!Simon has a similar journey when he sees how comfortable P!Simon and Lucy are with inside jokes and what not. He can’t relate.

Plot planning wise, nothing happens. They need the CoMa after all. Again, plot who idk her this is all about the interaction! c!Simon gets to know his mum and everyone lets him do that. He deserves it. He can’t call her ‘mum’, though. Lucy is saddened and devastated to hear how much her son from another dimension has suffered in life.

Lucy keeps calling both Simons ‘her boys’ or ‘her sons’. 

Also, you know, both Snowbazzes once again realise that there’s a different affection level. P!Simon is also so open towards Lucy. It’s noticeable when one Simon cannot stop touching the people he loves and the other is sitting to the side, distancing himself.

I think that somewhere c!Snowbaz takes a moment. They comfort each other and Baz calls Simon ‘my rosebud boy’. Lucy overheard. Long story short, this is where c!Snowbaz realises that their Lucy came back to Visit Simon and that it was Lucy, not Natasha. Cue more tears!

And again the Bazzes share a lot of knowledge and they work out why there is no Humdrum in Paradiso. I never explained it properly in the fic, but it was to be inferred (I hope) that the Humdrum doesn't exist because P!Simon had a happy childhood. In canon I always saw the Humdrum as a physical manifestation of the pain, loneliness and neglect that c!Simon felt after growing up in care. In Carry On, c!Simon even apologises to the Humdrum for leaving him when things started to become good. In Paradiso, P!Simon's life has always been good. Since c!Baz knows about the true identity of the Humdrum, the Bazzes are able to work this out. It once again all boils down to Lucy being alive, since she was able to give P!Simon a happy and carefree childhood.

But yeah, c!Simon’s biggest fear is still that c!Baz leaves him. The fear has diminished over the year since AWTWB ended, but seeing P!Snowbaz reawakens it. I think c!Simon struggles a bit with seeing how “perfect” P!Simon is. He’s a carefree guy who has no problems with intimacy and he’s chatty, happy and exuberant. He has inside jokes with his mum, he’s close with his extended family, and he’s very intimate with his Baz. c!Simon thought he was happy, but this is a hit on his mental wellbeing. c!Simon is okay with giving, but not with taking. He starts to think that c!Baz deserves better. He’s noticed that c!Baz is a bit jealous of P!Snowbaz and their affection, even though he tries not to be. c!Baz deserves a boyfriend like P!Simon, but c!Baz sees right through it and they talk about how they love each other. Yes, it could be better, but that doesn’t mean that what they have is good. And c!Simon is still trying very hard and c!Baz wouldn’t want to push that.

Honestly, it leads to some tension, especially between the Simons. c!Simon is just a bit standoff-ish when it comes to P!Simon. P!Simon cannot look in c!Simon’s mind, so he has no idea where this reaction is coming from. When they finally have time to talk, c!Simon just rants about how perfect P!Simon’s life is and yada yada and P!Simon lets him. 

“You probably excel at your studies and I don’t even fucking know what to study-” “I’m not going to university.” Aka, c!Simon also learns to not put so much pressure on himself. 

There isn’t tension between the Bazzes regarding to this, but they do talk about it. P!Baz notices the jealousy as well, and c!Baz is ashamed of the fact that he’s jealous of P!Snowbaz’s affection. Luckily, both Bazzes think alike so they’re able to talk it over and dissect everything, as they do.

I also think that c!Simon confronts P!Simon at one point about the fact that P!Simon carelessly calls The Mage ‘dad’. P!Simon explains that he understands that it’s different for c!Simon, but he always knew The Mage as ‘dad’, not as ‘The Mage’ or ‘Davy’ or whatever. The Mage is a bad dad. Unfortunately, he’s Simon’s dad. P!Simon doesn’t have to like that fact, but it’s still his dad.

Also somewhere down the line, both Simons realise that they are on the opposite ends when it comes to magic. P!Simon saw him having magic as traumatic and losing it was healing. c!Simon loved magic more than anyone and losing it was the hardest loss he’s felt. It leads to some more tension between the Simons, but then I think that leads to some interesting conversations about magic with both of them coming to understand the other. 

Speaking of the whole magic thing, c!Snowbaz tells P!Snowbaz about Smith Smith-Richards. c!Simon truly cannot phantom that P!Simon would join a cult in the hopes of getting his magic back. And I know this entire post isn’t canon, but I’d like to imagine that this is the reason why Smith Smith-Richards doesn’t show up in my story. Like, P!Baz hears that Daphne, Martin, Jamie and Beth were in this cult and he’s like “... wait a second!”

(Jk, jk, there’s no in-universe explanation for Daphne, Martin, Jamie and Beth being friends. I didn’t know how to add a storyline, but I also like the idea of them being friends. Just friends. Not cult members.)

Also at another unspecified moment, P!Snowbaz will learn that c!Simon and c!Agatha dated. I think this will lead to some hilarity, but also about the realisation that the environment and people around you shape you. Both Simons are the same. Both Bazzes are the same. But their lives led them in different directions, which led to them changing as well. Nature and nurture, I guess.

They go to Sirmione with Lucy. Lucy and the Bazzes go to the CoMa building. The Simons explore Sirmione. I think it’s also good for both Bazzes and both Simons to have more time to bond and now there aren’t any locals around. The maghi in the CoMa will understand what is happening and the Normali in Sirmione will just assume that the Simons are twins. Honestly, I just want them to chill out for a sec.

(Mateo, when they see two Bazzes: double trouble! You fancy yourself so much you cloned yourself?)

At another unspecified moment, I can imagine c!Simon and P!Baz also talking a little bit about what the fuck is going on. Maybe it’s easier/safer for c!Simon to talk to P!Baz, because he’s still Baz, but also not his Baz, ya know? I really like the ideas of the different paired Snowbazzes bonding. P!Simon and c!Baz are out in Salò doing their own thing. But yeah c!Simon just sort of confides in P!Baz and fuck it don’t ask me why but in my scenario they suddenly started dancing. Like, as in P!Baz puts on music and asks c!Simon to dance as a sort of midway? It’s intimacy. It’s romance. But it’s something c!Simon can be more comfortable with.

Or at least that’s the plan because c!Simon cannot dance, lol. “Didn’t anyone ever teach you to dance, Snow?” “Agatha tried...”. Oh, the hilarity of c!Simon dating P!Baz’s bestie in another universe. ANYWAY this is all to push my dancer!Simon agenda. Maybe P!Baz suggests that c!Simon can look into it when he gets home, since c!Simon doesn’t have cooking as therapy. Basically, P!Baz loves all Simons and he wants all Simons to be happy, so he’s more than happy to help c!Simon out with his struggles regarding c!Baz.

And you know what, fuck this, let’s go to England. Someone in the CoMa, probably Mauritio, points out that maybe P!Penny needs to use the spell. Since c!Penny is the one to cast the spell in canon, they believe that P!Penny might have to spell them again, since no one else can do it. I mean, they can cast, but nothing happens. The Bazzes and Lucy will fake the passports and what not. I just really, really want P!Penny and P!Shepard to meet c!Snowbaz. Chaos happens, by the way. 

P!Agatha is in San Diego but P!Baz obviously texted her and he's keeping her updated. P!Niamh isn't part of the gang here. c!Snowbaz doesn't mention her, because they don't know if they should meddle with P!Agatha's life.

And Ebb is there. OH BOY. 

Like with Lucy, P!Simon calls ahead to explain the situation and to also explain why Ebb is a big deal to c!Simon. Of course, in Paradiso, Simon and Ebb never really knew each other and they will never really bond like they did in canon. But Ebb understands and sure, she doesn’t know either Simon very well, but she gets that this is a big deal for c!Simon. 

(Also, lol, different dimension shit, but the Watford gates only allow P!Baz’s blood to open the gates, not c!Baz’s.)

P!Penny tries the spell. It works and poof, c!Baz is gone. Why does it work? No idea. Again, plot hole. I don’t really care it just does. (Johnson: Woah!!)

c!Simon knows that all is well, but before he goes he says goodbye to his mum and he asks if she wants to leave a message for the Salisburys in canon. I think that at this moment it sort of hits him that he's saying goodbye to his mother. He's always loved her but he just pushed it away during the visit and the realisation that it ends, runs deep. Like, even when c!Simon gets home, he'll probably sort of grieve her.

Lucy writes a heartfelt letter to the Salisburys in canon. P!Baz also makes a photo of Lucy and the Simons for Lucy to keep, because she knows she'll miss c!Simon too. Thank magic, because P!Baz can print photos from his phone. He duplicates the photo so that c!Simon can take one with him. (So sad that c!Baz is already gone.)

They have a heartfelt goodbye and P!Penny also sends c!Simon home.
