Ayr Mount celebrates 200!
Ayr Mount is celebrating 200 years this year and has a host of fun activities to commemorate this anniversary. The first event is this Sunday in conjunction with Earth Day.
I have included a list on how Ayr Mount will celebrate two centuries! Save the dates and mark your calendars, a fun project is to investigate period costume for the May 23 celebration! A start is this fun website on period costume and also on ebay in the UK! I am thinking I will go for a “Valley of the Dolls” meets 200 year old Americana by way of Dolly’s Vintage or House of Landor... there must be great 1960s dress with the ultimate #TBT style of 1815...
Happy planning, now let’s celebrate the big two (hundred)!!!

Visit the North Carolina Museum of Art
- the permanent collection boasts nearly 4,000 pieces of art and currently there is a fantastic show of small portraits entitled "Small Treasures," which includes the first time a Vermeer has been in the goodliest state, North Carolina! There are so many things you can do at the NCMA-- eat lunch at Iris, walk the museum park, filled with amazing, site-specific sculptures, for example!
Visit historic Ayr Mount in Hillsborough, either tour the house or walk the trail, Poet's Walk, along the Eno. The grounds are simply pristine and gorgeous and a fun place to frolic!
Go see the Nutcracker by Carolina Ballet performance at DPAC in Durham.
The show is from Friday, November 28th, Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th. I have received word that Scout followers will get a special discount of 20% off of all ticket sales by using the following code: SCOUTNUT. How great is that? Well, it gets even great- the person who purchases the biggest block of tickets for this weekend will get the opportunity to meet the ballet dancers backstage. My family did that last year and it was fantastic! Read the blog post from last year here. You can call the box office, too---(919)680-2787
