OH BOI GET READY. FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS WHERE DO I EVEN FUCKING BEGIN I LOVE ZECHS MERQUISE SO FUCKING MUCH.

I'm gonna get punched in the mouth by a Real Gundam Fan but honestly??? Let me start by saying I find that Zechs and Relena mirror PERFECTLY the original story of Char Aznable and Sayla Mass. Of course, you could be born 37 times and NEVER match the charisma and intensity of Char Aznable, but Zechs stands on his own wonderfully, because his ideals are, for starter, VERY different from Char’s and it’s great to me. Zechs is what Char could have been, like AU Char. Char is in this for vengeance as one of the last 2 survivors of the Deikum family, Zechs actively seeks to find a way to follow his family’s ideals of peace in a world torn by conflict.

My GOD I adore Zechs Marquise. He is a perfect rival to Heero Yuy. Zechs is an unbelievably honorable man who doesn’t enjoy violence, even if you can tell he loves piloting mobile suits. He doesn’t seem to be fond of authority, but he’s an incredibly lawful and loyal man. People are drawn to him by his charisma but he’s so humble??? he is incredibly intelligent and what I find very funny in his dynamics with Noin, is that as hot headed as Zechs tries to be, he often finds himself being the one that has to hold her back because Noin is the heart to his brains.

Not to say he has no heart. Zechs is so empathetic and his moral compass never shakes, and you can tell when he fights Heero in the Tallgeese. He puts his whole soul into what he does, he enjoys being at the same level as him, and that bit when Heero blows his own ass up and Zechs tells Trowa to haul ass?? THAT is the most Milliard Peacecraft moment ever for me man I’m never gonna be over that????? He has such a STRONG sense of justice and such a big heart and he wants peace so badly I die???? And you know what else?? Him telling his parent’s painting that he hopes Relena has the guts and the spine he didn’t have to continue his legacy was so important to me. Char denied his past, and Sayla. Zechs wanted nothing but to see his sister thrive.

NOW ONTO TAKEHITO KOYASU lately I’ve been watching LOTS of stuff with him in it. Recently I found out he was in Tekkaman Blade as Shinya/Tekkaman Evil and he broke my heart with how emotional and intense his acting was-the anime is very tragic, and Shinya himself is a very tragic character driven to madness, and although I already ADORED Koyasu as DIO he destroyed me and became one of my favourite characters after that.

ANYWAY, I only very recently had the chance to watch Gundam Wing in japanese (most of my life I’d been following the latinamerican dub because this is after all Costa Rica) and only ver recently I realized that Koyasu was Zechs’ seiyuu. I was OVERJOYED and for the first time sat down to really listen to Zechs talk, focusing on his voice rather than his words, and I was blown away. Zechs is so different from all other characters Koyasu has played!! He usually does dramatic, almost histrionic villains and megalomanic characters-but Zechs is EVERYTHING but that. I could appreciate the full range of emotion he has, the gentle humor in his voice when interacting with Noin, his anguish when talking about his past and his calm dignity when Zechs spoke as a commander. Needless to say I nutted so hard my left leg went numb
