ghhhh ep 76 of hxh annoys me so much. such an utterly baffling change from the manga. kite you deserved better
#i literally cannot make sense of this change here#it would've been so easy to have it be part flashback episode - after all we have a third party (killua) who doesn't know the whole story#kite and gon were happy to see each other again! kite is basically gon's childhood hero!!! where was that!!!!!#storyrambles#it actively weakens the arc. i'm sorry but it does#the only thing i can somewhat understand where they were coming from was the 'thanks for hitting him' part#because it sets up this idea in gon's mind that he deserves punishment when he screws up and someone dies as a consequence#but a) that notion of 'i need to make up for it' was already present in gon's character#b) that's not even why kite hit him??? he didn't do it as punishment he did it as a 'what the hell were you thinking'#ugh#utterly baffling. why would you make changes to weaken gon's connection to kite when you could've made changes to strengthen it???#hxh
