My Top Ten Monster Hunter Monsters

I'm doing this cause i just watched a video of someone else doing it and felt like it.

Starting with Honorable mentions; Rakna Kadaki, Chameleos, Gogmazios, Lunagoron, Lagombi, Paolumu, Legiana, Valstrax, Espinas, Dodogama, Banbaro, Vaal Hazak, Great Wroggi, and Pukei Pukei.

Zinogre;

Big electric wolf boy with spikey spikes. Also Thunderlord and Styngian are really cool variant/subspecies of the guy. I just think he is cool.

Tetsucabra;

Big rock demon frog, and also my first Hunt as i played the MH4U demo on my 3ds with my sibling. Had never heard of the Monster Hunter series before this point and tried the demo as recommended by said siblings friend. Also I just really like frogs. so rock frog is #9

Kecha Wacha

His armor, his design, his goofy little self. He was a fun challenge early on in MH4U and gave a into the new combat system so nicely. Also his playful kind of attitude makes me want him in something again besides a stories spin off title. I wana see him in an enviroment like world or rise...

Ceadeus;

While the MH4U demo was my first Monster Hunter experience, my first game was MH3U on the 3ds. And that means my first Elder Dragon, was none other then the giant goat whale himself. While the under water fighting mechanic was a slow and painful process, it was well worth it especially with his EPIC BOSS MUSIC. My favorite ost in the entire Monster Hunter series save proof of a hero is Ceadeus Theme! That alone makes him so epic in a nostalgic way.

Deviljho

I actually didn't like deviljho when i first ran into him in MH3U. I was actually terrified of him to the point of nightmares. (mind you i was like 13) But when i got to MH4U and watching some dumb pickle jokes about him later in life, he just kept growing on me. I like his armor, his lore, and his fight is genuinely memorable. yet i still associate him with crimson Quropeco years later because yah... (that bird should also be a honorable mention)

Nerscylla

As someone who despises Gypceros, i only like him if it means my baby girl is in the game too. OG spider monster is so cool. I love the great sword tree for her and her subspecies. I also just like spider monsters given we only have had two (Heard there might be a third in wilds, but trying not to spoil myself too much) I like her kind of creepy skin coat, that if you break it off you see her white actual spider shell. And her armor looks so like, knightly yet alien ish to me... she is just a really cool monster design that i want to see more of in the series.

Gammoth

BIG MAMMOTH POPO MAMA!!!! She deserves to be back in a main line game as much as the other three!!!! While i love Astalos fight and armor and Misitsune's armor and fight, Gammoth just feels so BEHEMOTH and cool, and big! I love her armor and massive weapons'. i love her fight, i love that she is much more a guardian of the mountain then a horrible threat of nature! She big!! just amazing design, amazing fight, bring her back to me!!!!

Lagiacrus

for similar reasons to Ceadeus and Tetsucabra, Lagiacrus was one of my firsts. He was my first proper flagship, and his fight was memorable to me even with the hard to grasp underwater mechanics. Also seeing him in the dark of the deep water with his glowing blue crystal spikes on his back as he unfurls and watches you... In my heart of hearts he is always what i think about when i think of LEVIATHAN. he is the leviathan. Knowing he could have been in World is a devastation to me. But i understand... Also his color palate is phenomenal by the way. That greenish more blue with the cream and then orange sub tones.... he feels ocean.

Goss Harag

... I really like the bears. I love lagombi and arzuros. (Volvidon is eh) but i felt like after a certain point you just leave them behind, and lose the need to hunt them. I really like bears... Then you get Goss Harag, who is the new bear and he is EVIL in all the most epic ways! His scary demon looking face, that turns red when he is enraged! The fact he can make weapons' for his hands! His big fluffy white mane! He looks both cuddly and a serial killer! Like this guy could be put in a horror game and also be a very marketable stuffy!

GORE MAGALA

and not just him, but his entire lore/ growth into shagura magala. In his base form, Gore Magala is such a alien creepy guy with like... very edgy aesthetic. The whole fact that he canonically cannot see you with out his scales that also weaken you... and that all his weopans and his armor all have like, Grim reaper dark lord energy. Then you have the fact that his final true form as the elder dragon Shagura Magala has such a more Heavenly aesthetic, yet still kind of angel of death! I really do love Gore Magala, not only as such a cool flagship and part of my all time favorite MH title MH4U I very specifically remember playing both the Gore Magala fight and the Shagura Magala fight on a bus ride, and having my friend who had no idea what i was playing, cheering me on as i took out both these epic looking six limbed dragon bois... it is memorable.

Batter- Xeno'jiiva

It is incubating in the bio energy of dead elder dragons, the most poweful creatures. In World when it hatches, the first thing it does is attack, to try and kill. Something about it being a baby version made me think of the batter... he's born, he knows what he's made for, to kill and destroy until nothing remains, till its a blank slate. The xeno (world final boss) we see is born, and immediately fights. It trys to kill, to destroy, its in its nature. It felt alien to see it in the game, it was strange and unexplainable and new, like the batter.

Queen- Velkhana

I've thought of queen as velkhana before, something just. Fits. About it. I considered ahtal-ka for a bit but decided against it. I wanted an elder dragon for her, and an elegant one. Preferably uses ice, since for some reason she feels very ice type to me. The beautiful yet sharp and deadly exterior matches queens elegant and strange look.

Zacharie- Tetranadon

Yeah. Needed to be an amphibian, froglike. Tetsucabra felt too sharp and hard, I wanted something softer to show he's not a fighter, just a merchant. Tetranadon felt more froglike. I also liked the dish on its head, reminiscent of a kappa, as Zacharie is often associated with stories (the toad king)

Judge- Tobi kadachi

Love this thing ! It's very fast, and can glide to many places. Reminded me of the judge and how he just. Is everywhere. Speedy little thing. They are very passive, and will not attack unless provoked, which then they will attack relentlessly. It's smart in that it gets static electricity by rubbing on things which it then uses to attack. It uses its environment to its advantage a lot more then other monsters. I wanted a mammal too, something softer and cuter and fluffier.

Valerie- Tzitzi-ya-ku

I wanted something kind of skittish and cowardly, however thats not really a trait seen in alot of monsters. The tzitzi-ya-ku will flash predators with its bioluminescent organs to blind them, then run. They are also scavengers. And. Bird wyvern. heh heh

Sugar- Frostfang barioth

Barioths are the bane of my existance. She needed to be a strong monster, and I wanted something more fluffy and cuter while also menacing. The way they move and battle is a rushing flurry, and reminds me of dancing. Did I mention that barioths are the bane of my existance.

Dedan- Diablos

Diablos is very menacing, it looks like it would pick you up and eat you whole. However it is a herbivore. It is aggressive, territorial, and heavy set. It reminds me of Dedan because its very scary looking, but they arn't as bad as they seem (LYING). I like the large tusks on the diablos, they remind me of Dedan's teeth.

also whoever decided to make diablos' world fight so annoying makes me sad. why are you underground for 45 minutes. why do my sonic bombs not work.

Japhet- Aknosom

He had to be a bird wyvern. I wanted a more elegant and sleek one, and the aknosom fits perfectly. It also uses fire, which matches with Japhet's status as the firebird.

Enoch- Gobul

This thing just looks like an Enoch. This is Enoch to me. I saw it and was like "Yep Enoch". Sorry Enoch lovers you don't get a big paragraph

Hugo- Gore magala

I LOOK CRAZY RIGHT NOW BUT HEAR ME OUT. Gore magalas are juvenile versions of shagaru magala. They cause and spread the frenzy virus, which turns monsters a purpleish grey hue, makes them breathe out a smoke like substance, and be very aggressive and hostile. It can be spread by its breath attacks, but also by the dust like scales it spreads to locate things around it due to its poor eyes. If a monster inhales the scales it can be infected with the frenzy virus accidentally. I can see this in a narrative where Hugo accidentally caused the spectre outbreaks, which led to larger problems later. He needed to be an elder dragon also, considering he made everything.

Since it looks like Joltik wont win this match, I'd thought I'd look at all the other competitors and see how I think a battle with them would go. See how well I did at making an overpowered fighter. If you think one of them would do better than I rank here, I'd love to learn the reasoning ^_^

Similarly, Olivia's handler is Eric, a biologist. Even if he needs reminding, it makes sense he would know to keep a professional distance from the subject of his study.

Meanwhile, who is Kamura's local guild authority?

Hojo. The man who not only keeps a baby tetsucabra, but rides around on it.

One thing that Wilds has really helped me appreciate about Rise is Kamura's complete flagrant disregard for nearly every single regulation implied to exist in Wilds.

You need to be certified to use a weapon? Tell that to Yomogi and Iori. If Nata was a Kamura kid, he'd have popped Arkveld with a cluster bomb the moment he saw the thing.

Not to mention the massive quantity of ordinary civilians with ballistae...

Like, genuinely. We have no real reason to kill Magnamalo. We learn nothing from defeating it, it's not causing the Rampage or anything, it's no more of a threat to us than the rest of the Rampage. And yet we go out of our way, including hunting multiple other monsters, just so we can 1v1 this cat because we decided we don't like it.

I encounted "The Tetsucabra" today while playing Monster Hunter: Generations Ultimate.

They gotta bring my boy back in the next one. Tetsucabra and Zamtrios (and I guess Dodogama to a similar extent?) are a real fun archetype/skeleton/whatever-you-wanna-call-it and I miss 'em dearly.

I remember hearing about one of the artbooks going into more detail about their ecology (which is a big reason why I wish the artbooks would get localized outside Japan) & talking about how the father will carry the eggs & newborns around in its mouth for protection and transportation. I love that. Big ol' frog with a mouth fulla babies. It's like when some dogs hold an egg so gently in their mouths.

Dogs don't really lay eggs, I guess.
