Leah I keep thinking about Rhett on his birthday. Maybe he's stressed and doesn't want to celebrate so you just distract him at home and make him a nice meal and give him a sweet homemade gift or a new hat or shirt and tell him how lucky you are to have him. That's my wholesome thought. Orrr maybe you're with Preacher!Rhett and you've baked him a homemade cake and you present it to him all innocently, but then later on, he takes you into a back room and runs his fingers through the icing and tells you to open your mouth. You suck softly on his fingers at first but then he tries to see how far he can push them into your mouth and throat until you're a mess and your eyes are tearing up and you're drooling all over his hand and all over your dress. And when he's done he kisses you and tells you how sweet you taste and what a gift you are to him

rhett doesn’t like big to-dos. he’d rather not celebrate at all have an intimate celebration with just his loved ones. specifically you. he’s perfectly content with you making his favorite meal and just giving him a few practical gifts. a pretty blue flannel shirt you saw and couldn’t resist buying because it matched his eyes. a new pair of work boots because his old ones were about to fall apart. he’s so grateful for everything you do for him. it’s enough. you’re enough.

on the other hand, preacher rhett is a nasty bastard and as soon as he sees the icing on the cake he knows what he’s going to do with it. he sneaks you into his office and thanks you properly, while the rest of the congregation is just on the other side of the door. takes that icing on his fingers and lets you taste the sweet buttercream. but he also should’ve known that putting his fingers in your mouth was a sure way to get you all dumb and pliant for him. but here you are, on your knees, drooling all over his fingers, and he thinks he’s never seen a prettier sight.
