Arrogance. Alexia putellas x reader.
Let me know if you want a part 2.
You loved winning more than anything or anyone in the entire world and that was your biggest flaw. Brought up in the US soccer system, you were taught that winning is everything. You had set the precedent of joining the US women's national team as early as 17 years old which had never been done before. You were smart both academically and tactically. You graduated high school early, went to college early and proceeded to win the national championship all 4 years.
Your life always took the back seat to winning. You didn't have many friends. You didn't go out or party. You trained hard, you took care of your body, and followed a strict fitness routine. You were overall the best in your generation.
Being labeled as the best of your generation got into your head early in your life. Your strict regime made it hard for you to make friends and your cockiness and pride didn't help either. You were friendly but nobody ever dared to become your friend.
After college you moved on to the NWSL in which you won MVP , rookie of the year, and the championship in your first and second year. You had also won the world but at the same time. However, winning didn't fill the gap in your life that it once did. You didn't have to prove yourself anymore, you were renowned in the whole world as the best, everybody wanted to be you but no one wanted to be with you not long term at least. You were notorious for hooking up with people but you didn't want them to stay over for breakfast
As the years went on the international competition got harder. You were still the best but an upcoming Spaniard was raining on your parade. You were both head to head in matchies, a few tackles landing you warnings and yellow cards, and in awards. Both having very good stats you are head to head for the ballon d'or which she won that year.
You didn't talk to each other much. You can recall talking one or twice to each other . but you talked about one another a lot. The media seemed to spit you both against one another. You started hating each other in real life.
This summer your contract with Seattle fc came to its end and you chose not to renew. Offers were flying by but the one that caught your attention was Barcelona's offer.
They were willing to spend 1 million dollars on you. It was a precedent. No club had ever paid this much for a transfer. Thrie offer sticked your ego so much you accepted.
You have been playing at Barcelona for almost a season, scoring a hatrick at every game. Your relationship with your teammates didn't change. You were still space out.
The most important relationship was with your captain. Your rivalry with her was the second headline out of the b transfer. But you didn't pay her or the rivalry any attention.
Tonight you have achieved something you wanted to do for a long time. You have won the champion’s league. The locker room was celebrating the win and chanting your name. While everybody was dancing Alexia came to approached you and said “ congrats and thank u american”
“ no need capi.” you responded.
The flight back was fun, people were singing and dancing but the only thing you thought about was alexia. Her smell, her hand on your shoulder, her being thankful for you. You found yourself looking over to her from time to time. You weren't like this, you didn't day dream about people especially not the captain.
The celebration party took place in a bar. You were a few dink in when you looked over to you right yo find Alexia nursing a flute filled with champagne.
“Why aren't you dancing?” She asked.
“ I am not the type plus i am pretty sure y'all hate me.”
“And why is that “
“Don't know just a feeling.”
After that I went outside. I didn't smoke much but the nerves Alexia was giving me deserved some nicotine. As soon as I lit the cigarette I felt her hazel eyes glaring at me.
“ These things are gonna kill you, you know.”
“ I want to die young plus nobody would give a shit.”
“ I would give a shit if the most important person in my club was killing herself because she can't man up enough to talk to people. You hide behind your accomplishments. But you are just a normal girl just like any of us. You need people beside you.”
“ You are wrong about me. I am not scared of talking to people; they just would never understand me. I am a control freak. I don't like to give it up. People tend to hate that about me ” I say as I take the last puff of my cigarette. My eyes don't leave hers and the tension is through the roof.
“ I like to lose control from time to time.”
“ Capitana please don't play with me”
“ Currently I am not playing with you. Let me make you a deal. You go inside, have some fun and I will let you do what you want with the information you just heard.”
“ Why are you doing this?”
“ I don't know, I just care, I guess.

She’s a scab. She only cares about herself and what she can personally gain. She let her “friends” take the fall more than once now so she could get a world cup and continue to push that she’s the best player in the world when in reality she played like absolute dog shit and really that second ballon dor shouldn’t have gone to her in the 1st place. She’s just trying to stay relevant sorry that I’m giving you guys the truth 🤷‍♀️
Welcome to @handmeascalpel's ted talk, I'm your host @batlleonafc buckle up and enjoy the ride
Hello, anon. I've read everything you've mentioned. Do you have any evidence to support your claims? Considering that I'm reading this now, you don't. So, let me present the evidence I have. If you understand after this, great. If not, I can't stop people from forming their own opinions.
Exhibit A:
You said, "she only cares about herself and what she can personally gain."
On September 1, 2022, Alexia tweeted in support of Irene Paredes when the RFEF essentially blamed her for the players' opposition to the federation. Alexia was injured at the time and wasn't even in camp or eligible for a call-up. She was the first to tweet, sparking the revolution against the RFEF.
Ironically, on September 23 of the same year, exactly one year ago, Alexia was the first to post the Las15 statement, stating that the players wanted a "firm commitment for a professional project" and expressing their unhappiness that private conversations with the federation were leaked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exhibit B:
You said, "she let her friends take the fall more than once so she could get a World Cup."
As I mentioned earlier, Alexia was injured and therefore ineligible for a call-up. So her statement and email were never considered valid.
Every statement has always been posted by her first because she has a large following. She has consistently spoken out loudly and clearly about the problems. She never let friends take any fall. More proof is attached below.
She went to the World Cup because she was fit and couldn't escape sanctions, in case you forgot about them. I'd like you to tell me how many players who came back from an ACL injury immediately played well, or maybe just give me some names.
#seacabo was started by Alexia, and she took the lead for everything. It's not hard to find this evidence. Regardless of what people like you want to say about her, both on and off the pitch, you can see what kind of person she is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exhibit C:
You say, "that second Ballon d'Or shouldn't have gone to her in the first place."
Who do you think should have won it then? I'd be happy to hear your answer.
But since you brought up the Ballon d'Or, let me share a few things:
Official stats from the 2021/22 season:
La Liga Femenina:
- 26 games played.
- 18 goals scored.
- 16 assists.
Copa de la Reina:
- 4 games played.
- 4 goals scored.
- 1 assist.
Supercopa de España:
- 2 games played.
- 1 goal scored.
- 1 assist.
UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL):
- 10 games played.
- 11 goals scored.
- 3 assists.
Regarding the Ballon d'Or voting, she only missed out on 29 days, equivalent to one tournament (the Euros). Nobody came close to her stats, and she's a midfielder. These stats are only for her club. Her national team stats are just as impressive, as she has been crucial in every single match, not just easy ones. She essentially surpassed her own record from the previous season when she won the Ballon d'Or. In short, she deserved it.
There's more to a player than just stats, especially for defenders. But the stats Alexia has as a midfielder are outstanding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exhibit D:
Finally, you said, "she's just trying to stay relevant." Sorry to say, but she doesn't have to say anything to stay relevant.
She uses her influential platform to talk about what's true and important, unlike many players. Ramona Bachmann is a good example, and even Athenea, for that matter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope you've learned something today, anon. If not, good luck with your opinion of Alexia. You might just look foolish for hating on her.
Thank you for listening to @handmeascalpel's ted talk I hope you learned something today!

I mean Messi and Ronaldo both won lots of ballon d'or young but wasn't it just because there wasn't any other good player around? like Messi was good, but not a young prodigy like Erling or Mbappé. He became very good after a few years though. Ronaldo too he was alright in United but only became really good at Real Madrid, meanwhile Erling for his first season at City broke every record and Mbappé is considered amongst the best while still in PSG. He won the world cup at 18 I mean!!
Why... are we having this debate, again? It makes it seem like I have a beef with these players when in fact I don't. Love Erling, like Kylian as persons. But buckle up because I won't stand for career revisionism of the two grandads, even Ronaldo, cause ain't no fucking way the football world held ten years of obsessional, insufferable rivalry for youngsters to barge in and say oh, actually, were they that good?
I don't know a whole lot about Ronaldo because I only followed him through the Clasicos/RM era. But he wasn't "alright" in United. He was, at 18, compared to G. Best, David Beckham, etc. Was already decisive in finals. Won his first Ballon d'Or there at 23. There's a reason his transfer to Real was costly and such a show; he was way more than "alright". As much as I despise the guy's guts — I liked him alright when he was younger, but the traits that irked me at that time that I could dismiss as youth are now still present and even worse as a grown ass man, and I can't stand it — he was a fantastic football player. Will of winning, his work ethic, his football. He was absolutely lethal to play against.
Messi, well. I won't ramble on it because you can find that anywhere, really. Before he reached 20 years old, he was considered amidst the world best players. At 18 years old, Maradona said of him he was "the player who will inherit my place in Argentinian football". Ronaldinho (at the time ballon d'or winner and viewed as best player in the world) said he "wasn't even the best at Barcelona", refering to then 18 years old teammate Leo. He was seen as one of the key players carrying a failing Barcelona team while being fucking 18/20 years old or something. I haven't got words for him. Genuinely. He's a magician, a genius with the ball, he embodied football. At 18 just like as 25 or 33 he was making you shake your head in disbelief at the sheer insanity of his goals, assists or playmaking.
Both Messi and Ronaldo being 36/38 now kind of make new football fans think they're just those washed versions of themselves and overrated. I assure you. Those fanboys, medias, pundits, coaches and ex-players were not obnoxiously talking about them h/24 for nothing. 18 - 28 years old versions of Ronaldo and Messi would make an utter mockery of any current player in the world, and I'm weighting my words.
Those two hags both embody the exact meaning of young prodigy, and I'd say Messi even more so. Personal preference, I leave it up to people. The fact that they were considered as such before they won any international trophy such as the world cup as, as you pointed out, Mbappé won with the French NT at 18, answers your own question and tells you stricly everything you need to know. They were the best players in the world all seasons long, from when they were 18/20 to more than ten years. They were absolutely ridiculous. Hope we can enjoy such rivalry with Erling and Kylian, but it's not the same, since it's all about stats and awards now, football is taking airs of NBA. It's different. It's not style versus style. That 2007 - 2020 decade was wild, and as much as I dislike this saying, you just had to be there.
So yeah, they were that good. They were even better than that.

Everyone gives Jude Ballon d'Or but no one sees what Vini is doing :(
Vini will never be properly appreciated because people look at him through the prism of his explosive behavior. They don't see his stats and what he brings to this team. I think he may be individually better than Jude ... of course I'm talking about 2024. I'm worried that Jude couldn't fully recover from his injury and that's why he's in poorer shape. Because tactics or another position is one thing, but I see a small physical problem here.

i know a lot of people are saying that CGH should be up for Ballon d'Or this year which rightfully so because her stats are crazy. there's another player that i think should also be highly contesting for the it as well and it's Tabitha Chawinga
she's been having a phenomenal season with PSG right now, her stats are INSANE so far as im writing this 15/10 g/a and rivals that of CGH. both should be rightfully nominated and in the running for the award this year imo

To everyone saying haaland deserves the Ballon d'Or and not messi
We all know the astronomical pressure Argentina had to win the World Cup. Shouldn't we prioritize circumstances and narrative over stats? Haaland can win the premiere league, lift that champions league, take the fa cup home, and end his season with 55 goals. That STILL does not beat the narrative of Messi living under Maradona's shadow his entire career. FINALLY, after a glorious career, winning the World Cup and sealing his place in the history of football, I think, takes the cake.
If there ever was a Ballon d'Or winning season for a player, this season for haaland couldn't be more of a perfect example. As compared to that, we're talking about the best World Cup campaign of our generation. One that is going to embed itself as a very prominent one in the entire history of football!! Haaland is here to stay, and we all know that. The robot isn't going to stop, and I think that applies for the next season. I mean, imagine Haaland doing what he's doing now from the VERY beginning of the season. The point is, haaland WILL get that Ballon d'Or sooner or later. But we're talking about Messi and his legacy. I think that triumphs any day.

Best football trios we'd miss
Tumblr media
The definition of "trio" is "the group of three people or things". Today, the word trio only resonates in our heads when these three stick together. While these players have phenomenal individual stats, they have blended really well to create good teammates that can wreck havoc on the opponent on the pitch. In this post we'd be talking about the greatest football trio in recent times, how they got separated, and their current status. Here's a list of football trios (in recent times) that will greatly be missed. If you didn't get to witness them, I advise you to watch their highlights on YouTube!
Tumblr media
Messi - Neymar - Suarez The Trinity was brought together by Luis Enrique (ex-Barcelona coach). During their time, Messi was the best number 10, Suarez was the best number 9, and Neymar was the best number 11. You can imagine the kind of chaos FC Barcelona cooked for the world with that combo. This football trio scored more goals than the entire Madrid squad in 2015 with 122 goals! They went on to break their own record the next year with 131 goals. They are arguably the best goal scoring trio in football They have one Champions League, two La Liga titles, and one Club World Cup, including a treble. All these in four seasons. The fun fact about this trio? They are good friends off the pitch. It ended when Neymar left for PSG for a record-breaking fee of 222 million as the most expensive signing at the time. Currently, Neymar and Messi play for PSG, while Suarez is yet to find a new club after leaving Atletico Madrid.
Tumblr media
Mo Salah - Roberto Firmino - Sadio Mane Jurgen Klopp brought Liverpool back to it's glory days with these three. This football trio were so fast, they could tear defense apart in minutes. Roberto Firmino helped with his intelligence while Salah and Mane with their dribbling skills and speed. They complemented each other so well that the broke plenty of goal records under Klopp. They helped Liverpool win their first league title in about 30 years, entered the champions league finals three times in four years, winning one of them, and a club world cup. The trio scored a total of 250 goals together. In 2022 they got broken apart by Mane who forced a move to Bayern Munich. Salah and Firmino still remain at Liverpool.
Tumblr media
Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale At the time of MSN, Real Madrid needed something similar to match up their arch rivals FC Barcelona. The BBC trio proved to be competent enough to do so. The football trio scored 97 goals in their first year together. They spear-headed the record breaking Champions League three-peat, all having note worthy UCL final goals. And four Champions League trophies in total. In addition to the two La Liga titles won. They redefined the counter-attacking style of football in their time. They broke apart after five years when Cristiano moved to Juventus. Currently, Benzema is still playing for Madrid, Bale plays for an American team, MLS, while Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to his childhood team, Manchester United.
Tumblr media
Xavi, Iniesta and Busquest We still don't know how Pep Guardiola cooked this but they'd go down as the most perfect Midfield trio in recent years. The fun part? They are all Spanish players, meaning they played together for club and country and the three were starters! They were know for their great passing abilities and vision. They were the heart of the team at the time. Xavi and Iniesta remain the only two midfielders to appear in the Ballon d'or top 3 more than once! From 2008-2015, they won't 3X UCL, 5X La Liga, and 2X CWC, excluding some other minor cups not mentioned. They broke up when Xavi left in 2015. Currently, Xavi coaches FC Barcelona, Iniesta plays for a Chinese club and Busquest still a Barcelona player. In conclusion, it is a dream of every football club to have their players team up together, to create magic that beautifies the moment. The easiest way this can be achieved is when players have a good relationship on and off the pitch. Also, getting more playing time together. Other trios not mentioned above include:
Tumblr media
Neymar - Mbappe - Cavani: They got broken up when Cavani left for Manchester united. Currently, Neymar and Mbappe still play for PSG while Cavani is yet to find a new club as he has run out of contract with Manchester united. Ribery - Robern - Robert Lewandoski: They got broken up in 2019, when Ajren Robben and Franck Ribery left the club at the same time. Currently, Lewandoski plays for FC Barcelona, Ajren Robben came back from retirement to play for his boyhood club Groningen while Franck Ribery plays for Serie A club Salernitana. Don't forget Modric, Kroos and Casimero. I didn't add them because they are yet to be separated. Which of these trio do you consider the greatest? drop your thoughts in the comment box below. People are like "but without this trophy the great messi will have an unfulfilled career" ok? So? You didn't care when the great manuel neuer didn't win the ballon d'or that he deserved or when the great thomas müller whose stats often surpassed messi's didn't win shit either.
yeah no one deserves a trophy to fulfill their career people need to be less tied to that as the only way to measure individual player quality

the criteria for winning the ballon d'or is a strange one. alexia won obviously for her club play since spain haven't won anything and she didn't play in the euro. but then beth individual stats wasnt as good as sam plus arsenal didn't win anything either but she had a successful euro. sam literally won all individual awards last season. so which is more important? club or country?
criteria is you have to be european and have name recognition I guess. the most surprising was no lyon player in top 5 when they won domestic trophies as well as champions league. it's all bull crap.
fifa award isn't much better since some players admitted to not watching women's football. you could tell they just voted for their teammates too. like last year, sam and alexia wasn't even in the best 11 but morgan and bronze was. it's all rigged and dumb and about favouritism.
that confuses me too!!
yeah tbh about fifa it isn’t that great either

Ballon d'Or Nominees: Who's Got the Golden Touch?
Ballon d'Or Nominees: Who's Got the Golden Touch?
Football's highest honor, the Ballon d'Or, isn't easy to snatch. Only 26 players have ever held the golden ball, and even getting nominated is a huge deal.
Tumblr media
Top 10 Most Nominated Players:
Cristiano Ronaldo (18): The unstoppable machine still holds the record for most nominations despite his 2023 move to Saudi Arabia.
Lionel Messi (16): Don't be fooled by second place! Messi still boasts the most wins with a whopping 7 golden balls.
Paolo Maldini (13): This defensive rock spent two decades dominating the field, earning 13 nominations along the way.
Johan Cruyff (12): Footballing pioneer and legend, Cruyff's influence goes beyond stats, as evidenced by his 12 nominations.
Franz Beckenbauer (12): Nicknamed "Der Kaiser," Beckenbauer is a Ballon d'Or double winner and World Cup champion in both player and manager roles.
Karim Benzema (12): Finally winning the 2021 Ballon d'Or proved Benzema was more than just Ronaldo's sidekick.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11): Ibra's incredible longevity and dominance across multiple countries earned him 11 nominations.
Gianluigi Buffon (11): The GOAT goalkeeper, Buffon holds the most nominations for any shot-stopper at 11.
Neymar (9): Despite not living up to expectations as Messi and Ronaldo's successor, Neymar snagged 9 nominations.
Thierry Henry (9): Premier League's king, Henry sadly never took home the Ballon d'Or, but his 9 nominations speak volumes.
