Happy STS! Stick a character (or several) in a different setting, genre, time period, whatever, etc. and tell me how they're dressing! For instance, send a modern character back to Ancient Rome or throw a futuristic character into a high fantasy. Anything to analyze how they'd dress without their current options. 🥰
I think this is actually a super good prompt for Mallory from Released because that does have some weird time shit involved. I'd also super love to see Mallory dressed like a '20s high society secret club member. I'm a sucker for waistcoats. He'd look so awkward though, like please can I have my hoodie back?
To be honest, I don't really know much about clothing through time, especially not in different countries, but I think something interesting about Neon Glow is that each person is descended from different parts of a world that no longer exist.
Disclaimer, I know next to nothing about fashion, or the cultural importances of clothes throughout the world, this is all based on a very quick hour-long google search.
It would be nice, for formal attire, to see Ari in a jodhpuri/Bandhgala, which originates from India. From what I can see, it's used for special occasions, like weddings, and has a closed-neck style. I love how these look, I can't believe this is my first time googling what they're called.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but also in general, kashmiri shawls look really comfortable, and I think that's something he would wear. I picked a couple I really liked the look of, but again I don't know the intricacies of any designs or anything like that. Yet. I wish they'd taught us more about other countries when I was doing my design degree.

April I'm on steadier ground with, he comes from Irish roots. That means he'd be just as at home in a shirt and trousers, or, for the more modern day, just any old hoodie or jeans will do, maybe some boots, it gets muddy. Although I'd pay good money to see April in an Aran sweater that's just a bit too big for him.

comfyy. warmth.
I would go on, but I got distracted and spent too long on wikipedia :(

Love stories often find their way into the realms of fairytales, where dreams are spun from threads of romance, and happily-ever-afters are whispered like magic spells. In the world of glitz and glamour that is Bollywood, the wedding of Surbhi Chandna and Karan Sharma was nothing short of a fairytale come to life. Let's take a mesmerizing journey into their enchanting wedding, where love blossomed amidst the grandeur of tradition and the sparkle of stardom.
The Haldi Ceremony: A Splash of Sunshine and Joy
In the midst of their wedding ceremony, Surbhi, the radiant bride, and Karan, the dashing groom, created magical moments with their enchanting presence. Surbhi and Karan’s haldi ceremony was a spectacular event that captivated the internet, marking a beautiful chapter in their celebrity wedding love story. Surbhi looked radiant in a beach-inspired wedding attire, featuring a halter-neck choli adorned with shells and pearls, paired with a purple-hued lehenga embellished with colored crystals and intricate beadwork. Her outfit, with its pink and white embellishments, exuded a joyous summer vibe. Dangling earrings added a touch of elegance, while her glam makeup and open tresses enhanced her look. Karan, looking equally dapper, donned a golden kurta with white pathani pants. The couple made a Bollywood-style entry, setting the tone for the festivities.
The Mehendi Ceremony: Vibrant Hues and Celebrations
The Mehendi ceremony of Karan Sharma and Surbhi Chandna was a celebration of deep tones and happiness. Surbhi wore an olive-green lehenga paired with a multicolored blouse with tassels. Oversized earrings and a nath enhanced her beauty, while Karan chose a green bandhgala adorned with tropical embroidery. The sunlit courtyard of the palace provided the perfect backdrop for the couple to enjoy a gala time, as they frolicked and celebrated their love.
Engagement and Sufi Night: A Night of Dazzling Glamour
The couple's engagement and Sufi night were nothing short of magical. They made a grand entry holding Arabic lamps, setting a mystical tone for the evening. Karan, in a plain short kurta paired with Patiala pyjamas and a sequinned jacket, looked striking, while Surbhi complemented him in a co-ord black sequin set featuring a crop top, flared palazzo pants, and a shimmering long jacket. The night was filled with dancing and joy as the couple exchanged rings and celebrated with their loved ones.
Chooda Ceremony: A Modern Twist on Tradition
For her chooda ceremony, Surbhi opted for a modern look in a beautiful blush pink sharara set, embellished with silver details. She paired the flared sharara with a short kurta and semi-sheer dupatta, balancing the bling with polki jewellery, including a chic choker and matching earrings. Surbhi’s matte nude makeup look added a touch of contemporary elegance. Karan complemented her perfectly in an ivory kurta set with gold threadwork.
The Wedding: A Spectacle of Love and Elegance
Surbhi’s wedding day was a testament to her unique style and personality. She chose a seagreen bridal lehenga with pink embellishments, designed by Jigar and Nikita. The ensemble featured intricate zardosi and pearl detailing, taking 70 days to complete. Surbhi’s lehenga was paired with a corset-style choli and a pink dupatta with a long trail, tied to her hair to create a princess-like look. Her minimal makeup and open tresses added effortless charm, while statement jewellery, including a maangtika and choker, completed her bridal ensemble. Her golden kaleeras were crafted specially to reflect their love story, adding a personal touch to her attire.
Karan matched Surbhi’s elegance in a sea green wedding sherwani, paired with a jacket and turban. Together, their outfits created a harmonious and stunning look, drawing admiration from everyone present.
Tuxedo Night: Glamour, Glitz, and Romance
Breaking away from traditional wedding customs, Surbhi and Karan opted for a stylish tuxedo night instead of a Sangeet function. The event, themed 'Glamour Glitz & Romance, It’s time for Tuxedo Dance,' was the first celebration after their marriage. Surbhi looked stunning in a sequined one-shoulder dress with a dramatic train, accessorized with elegant gold danglers and black strappy sandals. Her hair was styled in loose waves with a middle parting, exuding sophistication and charm. Karan looked dashing in a white shirt, black pants, and a maroon blazer. Their post-wedding bliss was evident in every picture they shared, capturing the joy and excitement of their new life together.

The Bandhgala: A Timeless Piece of Indian Menswear
The Bandhgala, also known as a Jodhpuri suit, is a classic garment that has become a staple in Indian men's ethnic wear. Combining sophistication and tradition, it offers a versatile option for various occasions. Whether you're attending a wedding, a formal event, or even a festive celebration, a well-tailored bandhgala can elevate your look and make a lasting impression.
Decoding the Bandhgala: History and Style
The Bandhgala's origins can be traced back to the British Raj era in India. It emerged as a fusion of the Achkan, a long coat worn by Indian royalty, and the formal European suit. This unique blend resulted in a garment with a distinct character – a short, knee-length jacket featuring a mandarin collar and a closely fitted front with a single row of buttons.
Key characteristics of a Bandhgala:
Mandarin collar: This signature element adds a touch of elegance and cultural flair.
Close-fitting front:  The single row of buttons creates a clean and streamlined silhouette.
Knee-length jacket:  The typical length provides a formal and balanced look.
Paired with trousers:  Bandhgalas are traditionally paired with fitted trousers for a cohesive ensemble.
Bandhgala for Men: A Versatile Choice
The beauty of the Bandhgala lies in its versatility. It can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion and your personal style.
Formal Events: A classic Bandhgala suit in rich fabrics like silk or brocade is a perfect choice for weddings, receptions, and formal gatherings. Opt for muted tones like black, navy blue, or beige for a timeless look.
Festive Celebrations:  Incorporate festive colors and patterns into your Bandhgala for a celebratory vibe. Sherwanis with Bandhgala jackets are popular choices for Diwali or other Indian festivals.
Modern Twist:  For a contemporary touch, explore Bandhgala blazers in lighter fabrics like cotton or linen. These can be paired with a kurta and churidar for a stylishly ethnic look, suitable for semi-formal occasions or even a fusion wedding.
Choosing the Right Bandhgala for You
With the growing popularity of Bandhgalas, there's a wide variety of styles and fabrics available to suit your taste and budget. Here are some factors to consider when choosing the perfect Bandhgala:
Fabric:  Silk and brocade offer a luxurious look for formal occasions. Cotton and linen are more comfortable options for everyday wear.
Color:  Opt for classic black, navy blue, or beige for a timeless appeal. For festive events, explore vibrant colors like burgundy, emerald green, or even printed fabrics.
Fit:  A well-tailored Bandhgala should fit comfortably around the shoulders and chest, with a clean line down the body.
Styling Tips for a Polished Look
Accessorize: Elevate your Bandhgala with a pocket square or a statement brooch. Consider adding a Nehru cap for a more traditional touch.
Footwear:  Opt for formal shoes like Oxfords or Derbys for a polished look. For a more relaxed setting, loafers can be a good choice.
Underneath it all:  Pair your Bandhgala with a kurta in a contrasting color or a simple white shirt depending on the formality of the occasion.
Bandhgala vs Sherwani: Understanding the Difference
Both Bandhgalas and Sherwanis are popular ethnic wear options for men, but there are some key differences:
Length:  Sherwanis are typically longer than Bandhgalas, reaching down to the knees or below.
Closure: Sherwanis often have a side closure with buttons running diagonally across the chest, while Bandhgalas feature a central front closure.
Formality:  Sherwanis are generally considered more formal attire compared to Bandhgalas.
Ultimately, the choice between a Bandhgala and a Sherwani depends on your personal preference and the occasion.
The Bandhgala is a timeless piece of Indian menswear that offers a unique blend of sophistication and tradition. With its versatility and range of styles, it's a must-have for any man who appreciates classic elegance. So, embrace the charm of the Bandhgala and elevate your ethnic wear wardrobe!

Hey grooms-to-be! Your wedding day is a momentous occasion where you want to look and feel your absolute best. Choosing the perfect wedding outfit is a big decision, and with so many options available, it can be overwhelming. But fear not, gentlemen! This video is your one-stop guide to rocking the latest Indian groom wedding outfit trends in 2024. We'll explore a variety of styles, fabrics, and colors to inspire you to create a look that's both stylish and personal. So, grab a notepad, and get ready to take notes! Timeless Elegance: Classic Sherwanis Never Go Out of Style The Sherwani remains the quintessential Indian groom attire, offering timeless elegance and sophistication.  Here's what's trending in 2024: Fabric Finesse:  For a luxurious look, opt for rich silks or brocades. Lighter fabrics like cotton blends are perfect for warmer months. Consider textured fabrics like velvet for a touch of wintery charm. Color Coordination:  Classic colors like ivory, beige, and deep jewel tones like emerald green, royal blue, and maroon never go out of style.  For a touch of modernity, explore muted pastels like mint green or peach. Embellishment Extravaganza (Optional):  Zardozi embroidery with metallic threads is a classic choice for adding a regal touch.  For a subtler look, consider pearl work or minimal thread embroidery on the collar or cuffs. Pro Tip: Sherwanis come in various lengths. Knee-length is the most popular, but for a more contemporary look, explore shorter Sherwanis that reach the mid-thigh. Modern Flair: Explore Achkans and Bandhgalas for a Contemporary Twist The Indian wedding scene is embracing contemporary styles, and Achkans and Bandhgalas are perfect for the modern groom. The Achkan:  This shorter and fitted jacket offers a more modern silhouette compared to the Sherwani. It's perfect for grooms seeking a stylish yet sophisticated look. The Bandhgala:  This short, Nehru-collar jacket that buttons up the front creates a streamlined and contemporary look. It's ideal for grooms who prefer a minimalist and sharp aesthetic. Tip: Both Achkans and Bandhgalas offer more flexibility for fabric choices. Experiment with textures like linen or textured cotton blends for a summer wedding. Daring Duos: Exploring Sherwani-Churidar and Achkan-Dhoti Combinations Looking to break the mold? Consider these dynamic duos: Sherwani-Churidar:  For a classic and regal look, pair your Sherwani with a fitted Churidar (pyjama pants). Achkan-Dhoti:  This combination offers a unique blend of contemporary and traditional styles.  The Achkan's modern silhouette paired with the flowy Dhoti (draped cloth) creates a striking visual. Pro Tip: When choosing a Dhoti, consider the fabric weight and drape. Lighter silks or cotton Dhotis are ideal for summer weddings, while heavier silks or blends are perfect for winter celebrations. Color Your World: Explore the Latest Color Trends for Grooms Your wedding outfit isn't just about the style; color plays a crucial role in setting the tone. Here's what's hot in 2024: Classic Elegance:  Rich jewel tones like emerald green, royal blue, and maroon remain timeless favorites. Subtle Pastels:  Muted pastels like mint green, peach, or light blue offer a refreshing and contemporary look, perfect for a daytime wedding. Monochrome Magic: Create a sophisticated and coordinated look by opting for a monochromatic ensemble. Experiment with different shades of the same color for a subtle yet stylish effect. Remember: When choosing a color, consider your skin tone and the overall wedding theme to ensure a cohesive look. Don't Forget the Accessories: The Finishing Touches for Your Look Accessories play a vital role in completing your wedding ensemble. Here are some key elements: Safa (Turban):  A well-tied Safa complements your Jodhpuri perfectly. Explore different styles and colors to add a personal touch. Jootis:  Traditional footwear crafted from leather or velvet, Jootis add an authentic touch. Choose a color that complements your outfit. Pocket Square:  A pocket square adds a pop of color or pattern, adding a touch of personality. Jewelry:  Keep it simple yet elegant.  A statement watch, cufflinks, or a minimal brooch can elevate your look.

The deep dire need I have for a fic of dev and Charlie navigating planning and surviving a big Indian wedding please I need the comedy of errors I need Charlie just wanting to make Dev and his family happy and trying so hard to easily go along with everything and it always becoming a mess I need him trying to hard and being so optimistic about mehndi and the second it hits his palm, nope, I can’t do this, and him feeling so bad he can’t, and dev helping him clean the small drop of a stain off his hand and holding him close, promising that it’s okay, and that he’s not mad and that he loves Charlie so much for even just trying, and by the time Dev’s own mehndi is finished he’s obsessed with how beautiful it looks. There’s a carefully disguised puzzle piece on his palm that Charlie spots instantly and he melts inside. Dev tells him his name is hidden in it somewhere and he’s obsessed with finding it, and promptly kissing it. Remembering the start of their coupling, the Baraat is carefully avoided, as well as the irrelevant kanyadaan, and sindoor. A few days consideration lead to dev and Charlie agreeing that haldi simply wasn’t a wise idea for them. Charlie in a cream, gold, and red color pallet in luxurious bandhgala and sherwani parisa was an absolute lifesaver at helping him shop for (as if dev wouldn’t have eagerly done the same). Devs color palette of blues, teals, and deep purples and silvers shinning beautifully, and just when Charlie thinks the last was the most beautiful, he watches dev set out his outfit for the next day.
When wedding planning first started and Charlie eagerly suggested they fallow Indian tradition dev would be worried that it was a lot to introduce to Charlie so fast but Charlie was all in. Eager to embrace dev. I just think generally they’d be very stressed but also have a beautiful joyful time.
Devs parents just love Charlie so much and would be so patient, so happy to explain things to him, I just think about the 4 of them planning together, all so deeply involved and fucking happy.
