This peaceful photo really shows off the contrast of a Sloth bear’s face and colourful markings. The perfect profile image reminded us of the iconic Wildlife SOS Sloth bear logo. Ashok lives at the beautiful Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre (BBRC) near Bangalore, India.

Sloth bears have a curious nature. Films have shown them head down, rooting around the forest floor looking for ants and termites, so singularly focused on dinner that they don't notice a nearby tiger. But generally, nothing escapes their attention. At the Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre, Suvarna, Cupid, Swapna, Mahi and Gomathi bear were very interested in what Wildlife SOS photographer Lenu Kannan had for them.

The versatile snouts of sloth bears like Sagar are unique in the bear world. Combined with their long claws that don't retract, they're equipped with the perfect tools to forage for insects and other nutritious food. Their rubbery flexible nose also gives them each individual character. But sadly their sensitive snouts are the means of their exploitation to "dance" at the end of a rope. Sagar lives that our Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre.
