hi all! I've been debating this with myself for a couple weeks now and today I lost all self control and I bought tickets for Basingstoke (sunday) to see Rhys and also for Dan's show on Monday.

I'm excited but mostly terrified because I've never been to a comic con in my life and I know no one, is anyone else going by themselves and wants to team up or is there group chat/discord thing I could be part of just to know what to expect?

Whatever help you could offer would be really appreciated! thank you!!

Richard attends a Meet and Greet at Basingstoke Comic Con on May 12th in Basingstoke, UK.

The Meet and Greet for Richard on the Sunday will be a reading of his book, Geneva, followed by a Q&A session. All people attending the Sunday Meet and Greet event will get a signed copy of Richard’s book.

David is finished!

This is a charcoal base and then pastel pencils over the top. It's on the really good Sennelier paper, which I don't use often. It takes a lot of layers but if you work it too much the scratchiness starts to come off.

I still have Rachel Luttrell and David Nykl to do, amongst others. But I find out what plans for more chemo etc there are on Thursday... I'm not compromising on Basingstoke, though! I'm going and that's that!

Meeting The Sandman

Basingstoke Comic Con 20/05/23

It might have come to your attention that I am a massive fan of The Sandman and admirer of Tom Sturridge. And now I've met him...

I'll be honest, I was very nervous beforehand, to the point of shaking. I needn't have been so on edge. Tom set me at ease immediately with his smile and welcoming handshake, and appeared to genuinely like my Morpheus inspired outfit. I gave him an envelope containing a letter and a handmade felt Matthew the Raven for him to open later, and he seemed to be very moved by the gesture.

When the photographer was ready, I had no idea what to do but eventually asked if I could put my arm around Tom's waist and he mirrored me. I am thrilled with how the photo turned out. He looks beautiful. It's going to go on my mantle piece once I've found a worthy frame.

Despite my nerves, it was a wonderful experience and I feel very fortunate to have met Tom. He was so kind and generous with his time and the way he approached the interaction was perfect; soft spoken, genuine smiles and warm eye contact. When I told him he was my favourite actor, his shy response was precious. As if I needed any additional reasons to love him even more.

Before I left, I gave him a hug (consensual) which is still something I can't get over. I hugged Tom Sturridge.

I left the room and immediately broke down in tears of happiness. I will be riding this dopamine high for at least the next week.
