"Don't poke the bear!" button with a cute bear holding a jar of honey... Similar to "let sleeping dogs lie" or "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" (yes, the Hogwarts motto, meaning "never tickle a sleeping dragon"), don't poke the bear means don't do something that might provoke someone into becoming angry or causing problems. It's also a phrase uttered to ward off people who are needlessly angering, upsetting, or annoying you... sometimes even going out of their way to do so. A different way to warn people that they're on thin ice, or that a joke is going too far.
